I love anytime a place has homemade potato chips as an option. I liked the steak sandwich and chips, but it was all pretty greasy and fatty and I was craving something fresh after. I also tried the ghost pepper cheese balls which were good, but not as spicy as I was expecting. My mom had the breaded tenderloin and loved it. I was wrapping up an appointment at Franciscan's campus and figured it was an ideal time to try a new restaurant on Indy's southside. It was nearing the dinner hour, though it was definitely a touch early. After considering my options, I decided to visit That Place Bar & Grill, a South Emerson establishment at the end of a strip center that is the true definition of a bar and grill. They have 2 accessible spots on the side of their building along with a rather nice curb cut. The front door is a two-door entry. The door is a little heavy, however, it's not bad. I had the door about halfway open when a customer started to rush over and help out. As you enter, the bar is in the center of the restaurant. To the right are the tables along with a stage for live music. To the left, they have taller tables, some dart boards, some pool tables, and other games. As my good friend Rick G. has noted about this place - it's definitely loud. There weren't really that many customers in the place and I was amazed how much the voices carried. Almost all the customers were sitting at the bar with a couple folks at tables (including me). There seemed to be only one person working when I arrived - again, it was right at the end of the day/lunch shift but close to evening. It took me a few minutes to be noticed, but when I was service was top-notch. I always appreciate when a bar doesn't flinch when I order iced tea. I contemplated a beer, after all I'd just gotten done with a doctor and could have used a drink, but I decided to behave. They had a lunch special of a two-topping personal pizza with a side salad for $7.99. I assumed I couldn't get it, but pizza sounded good and I started to order a pizza. The bartender, Dave, let me order the special and I was just delighted. The salad came out first - it was your ordinary side salad, though I was pleased they had Thousand Island dressing. It was good, though certainly nothing extraordinary. The pizza came out - it's a 7" pizza cut into 4 slices. I ordered sausage and pepperoni as toppings. It was a fairly typical bar pizza, though I really enjoyed it and it definitely hit the spot. I also appreciated that I got my always desired refill. Dave really had to go out of his way with me since most people were sitting at the bar. I appreciated his service and enthusiasm. It was a mostly older crowd. They were friendly and they were obviously familiar with one another. That Place definitely has a feel for a place that draws regulars. My entire bill came in at just over $11. I'm definitely fine with that. The meal was good, the service was solid, and the atmosphere was comfortable even with the loud volume. I will no doubt go back since I appear to have reached that age when going to doctors is becoming a regular thing. read more

This bar/restaurant is located in a strip mall. It has a huge parking lot that it shares with the other businesses in the strip mall. The bar is a pretty decent sized and has a huge bar, a stage, a digital juke box, and fun bar games like pool, darts and trivia. They have bands there on weekend nights. It was pretty slow while I was there and since I was by myself, I just sat at the bar. The bar tender was very welcoming and friendly. She was also attentive. They have dining room seating, full service bar seating, and an outdoor patio. They also have a small menu that consists of burgers, cheese curds, salads, sandwiches, wings and pizza. I got the Frisco Burger with onion rings. It did not take long for me to get my meal. It looked good, but only tasted ok. The onion rings were over cooked and did not have much flavor. The burger was undercooked and had a hint of raw ground beef taste. This place has potential. However, it may be a better bar than a restaurant. My meal was mediocre at best. It does seem like a fun place, with pool, darts, and live music. I would suggest going there for the bar/fun and if you end up taking your chances at something on the menu, so be it. read more

This sports bar is LARGE with lots of TVs. Most seats are bar height, but I chose a table with regular height seats. It took a while to get the lone waitress' attention, but she was attentive after that. I ordered the Build Your Own Burger and asked for cheddar cheese, blue cheese crumbles, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup and mustard, fries on the side, and also a fountain drink. I was told they no longer offered blue cheese crumbles and was offered blue cheese dressing instead, The waitress shortly brought my meal and it all looked good. The blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato and pickle were all on the side as I asked. The fries were hot and tasty, but unsalted (OK with me). I opened the burger and found 2 patties smashed with no bun layer between. The burger patties were disappointing in that they were not heat seared with crispy edges. They were merely cooked. I tried spreading some of the blue cheese dressing on the bun, along with ketchup and mustard and a bit of salt and pepper. I took a few bites and found it very tasty, but could not help wonder how much better it would be with a middle bun layer and crispy smashed burger patties. As I kind of expected, the blue cheese dressing then dripped out of the bun and started to make a mess. Note to self... do not use blue cheese dressing on a hot burger again. Blue cheese crumbles would have been just fine, but they no longer have them. So all and all, some ups and downs. I might order the burger again... I'm just sorry that they could have upped their game just a little and had a really great burger. read more

This is a great place to play some free music related bingo and win some prizes, as well as see a band. It's a very large space. The food is decent enough too all things considered as bar food goes. We tried the pizza. The service was sharp and friendly. There are electronics darts and billiards available. I look forward to going back. When my wife walks into a sports bar and immediately says she likes it, That Place is going to get a good review. She thought that it was spacious, not cramped. It was clean, not dingy. It didn't smell like some old dive bar. She notices those things more than I do. They also have lunch specials which she took advantage of getting the Taco Bowl. No shell outside, just frito type crunchies underneath. The flavor wasn't spectacular, but satisfying. The portion was plenty for a lunch without her having to get a to go box. I like paying for what you eat at the restaurant without having to eat leftovers to get your money's worth. I went with the house special sandwich: "That Sandwich". It's made with a German Bologna, grilled onions, pepperjack cheese, and sweet pickles on grilled marbled rye. If you like Reuben sandwiches, then you will probably like this. There are lots of similar flavors here that work really well together. I would definitely recommend it. The sandwich comes with house made crinkle chips that were large and crisp; maybe just a tad over cooked and they would definitely have benefited from salt being added when they were finished cooking. The place supposedly gets busy in the evenings and weekends with live music added. For lunch, it was relatively quiet with all the televisions on mute. I really enjoyed this place! We stopped after going shooting and Costco shopping for a quick lunch. We ordered the wings in Buffalo (phenomenal) and Spicy Garlic (definitely garlicky, but not really spicy). We also ordered the spicy cheese curds, which while fantastic, they were not spicy. The food came out quickly and piping hot. The wings themselves were perfect, crispy skin with super juicy meat and LOADED with sauce. Couldn't have asked for better! Anytime management takes time you respond to a review, and takes accountability, I think it deserves recognizing. The manager set up a 10% off food orders discount for Yelpers that check-in at their location; and he addressed my issues that I had concerning the staff being aware of the promotional. I respect that and it says a lot about the establishment. As I told management, I will be back. I'm impressed and it has a lot to offer that I did not get a chance to partake in. Kudos to That Place for offering Yelpers a discount to try them out. My boyfriend and I went back because we an awesome experience last summer. The food and service is good! The atmosphere is chill and I love the outdoor seating area. They have live music cover bands in the summer on Friday and Saturday nights. We had the time of our lives last year and the band was phenomenal. They even took our song requests and it nailed it! That Place has a great craft beer list, one of the best on the south-side...which I didn't realize until very recently. Plus, on Tuesdays, $3 craft brew pints...that's unbeatable! We visited on a night right before weekly trivia began and were surprised to see a lot of craft beer offerings we hadn't seen before. There were local/state-wide favorites like Taxman, 3 Floyds, and Bare Hands, as well as more established, solid national breweries like Founders, New Holland, and Heretic. Food-wise, That Place has more standard pub/bar fare with lots of fried things, burgers, and pizza, although some of the offerings are a tad more adventurous. The different wing sauce flavors are more outside the box then typical choices (i.e. Korean BBQ and Jamaican jerk). You can get on the bologna resurgence bandwagon and try the grilled "That Sandwich", with rye bread, spicy bologna, onions, hot pepper cheese, and sweet pickles. Service was okay and there was a fairly diverse clientele, with the weekly trivia looking to be popular. We'd been missing out on That Place all this time, due to stereotyping it as just another local spot slinging Bud/Miller (apologies, if Bud/Miller is your thing)...don't make the same mistake! read more

Went to That Place for the first time on taco Tuesday's. Service was a little slow but the tacos were better than other Mexican choices in the area. We got a couple appetizers that were pretty good too. The pretzel breadsticks were tasty, the onion rings were OK, but the fried pickles weren't that good. I ordered a piña colada but when it came out I could tell it was one of those packages that you get at the grocery store that you freeze. When I asked the waitress she verified that that was true. I then ordered what was supposed to be a strawberry daiquiri but it tasted like triple sec with a smidge of strawberry purée in it. Not good at all. Overall my experience was just Okay. I will most likely go again but only for the $.50 tacos. Definitely not for the drinks. read more

It really should post that it is not a family style bar and grill. It does not serve under 21 and it doesn't state it anywhere on the building or website. I completely respect those restrictions and understand the reasoning but it would've been nice to know before parking and walking in as a visitor in the area. A fun, busy place in Greenwood. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed this place is HUGE. Much larger than it looks on the outside, and they have a number of events throughout the week--trivia, bingo, live music. The food is geat! I LOVED the breaded tenderloin, and my wife's chicken quesadilla was fantastic as well. A couple of things keep it from getting a 5 star rating from me--first, it was LOUD. Difficult to carry on a conversation loud, and our server kind of disappeared for a while when we were wanting to get our check, after eating. Hopefully that's an isolated experience, but on the basis of food (and realizing not everyone is as noise sensitive as I am), a 4 star it is. read more

I've been to That Place a few times. The first time, was great, as we went to see their live band on a Friday night. The place was busy, but we were still able to find seats at the bar. The bar staff was quick to get us drinks, and always very polite. The drinks themselves are very reasonably priced, and they are pretty charged up. When, we returned a couple days ago, there was a different band playing, and the staff was still great. The only reason that I am giving That Place 4 stars is because when I ordered food I asked for an order of 20 wings which costs $12.99. I was asked what flavors I wanted, and I asked for 2 flavors. When we closed out our tab at the end of the night I was charged for 2 orders of 10 wings. When I asked about it, I was told that since I ordered 2 flavors I was charged for two orders. If I would have been told that at the beginning I would have just ordered one flavor. Other than that, it's a place I will keep going back to. The live bands on the weekends are great, and the atmosphere is pretty chill and relaxed. read more

My boyfriend and I have spent football season watching football here. Huge and multiple large screen TVs, and they will make sure you can watch your favorite team if you ask. Great Sunday specials, like $6 pitchers, and the food is pretty darn good and the prices are very reasonable. We like their wings, and their soft pretzel is honestly the best we have ever had...don't miss it! Huge, soft inside, a little crispy on the outside, drizzled with butter, and served with mustard and cheese. Yum! Tiffany and Dave are the regular bartenders.
