My husband and I got married here on 11/7/21, so this is a very belated review, but I just wanted everyone to know how awesome the Tides Estate is. Everyone was raving about good the food was, and how the ballroom was the grandest one they'd ever seen. The cocktail hour area was super spacious, which was one of things that my husband and I were looking for when we were researching venues. We hate when we go to a wedding and we have a plate of food in one hand, drink in the other, and nowhere to put them down and/or sit. But not at the Tides - plenty of seating, which is also much appreciated during Covid times, since it means guests will likely not be crowded in one area. Tito was our banquet manager and he answered my billion questions leading up to the wedding. Any worry I had, no matter how trivial it seemed, was put at ease. My girls and I got ready at the Tides. I had 9 BMs plus my Mom and MIL, and there was plenty of getting ready space. The main room is also very pretty, so it's great for 'getting ready' photo ops. There's also a room for the GMs to hang out in, although they are all connected so if you are the Bride, just have a member of the bridal party make sure that the Groom isn't around when you leave the room. Our maitre'd, Steve was awesome. Whenever I thought that I needed something, before I could even tell a BM to go find him, it seemed as though Steve would appear out of thin air, like some kind of wizard or something. We did a tea ceremony beforehand, and he set it up for us before we even needed to ask him to. He even packed our leftovers at the end of the night, knowing we did not get to eat. The Tides' motto is 'where we make your dreams come true', which I thought was a bit corny at first. But now that I've had my wedding there, I can see that they really do live up to that. Great wedding venue! I've been to so many venues in NJ, but when I visited this one, I knew it was the perfect choice! I love the high ceilings and the layout, which allows you to choose between an outdoor or indoor ceremony, followed by cocktail hour and reception--all in one connected space. My sister had her wedding here. The venue is spacious and beautiful. The downside is that the bridal suite doesn't have a door but all the other rooms did. I felt like having a removable curtain or something to cover the opening would have been helpful especially since it's the bridal suite and it was close to the elevator and near a high traffic area. Cocktail hour food was delicious while the mains were lacking. During the wedding, when the bride and groom were entering, one of the servers Rebecca kept asking my parents what they wanted for their main entree. I asked her to wait a few minutes repeatedly because my sister was coming down the stairs and my parents were going to miss her entrance. Rebecca did not stop and kept asking about the entree. I know she has a job to do but it felt distasteful. I don't know if Tides staff were prepped on where the bride and grooms parents tables were or not but there could have been a better timing to get entree requests. Thankfully my parents caught my sister halfway down the staircase. My cousin and my husband were also served the wrong entrees so what was the point of interrupting the starting moment of the wedding if you're going to get it wrong. Our wedding at this venue was nothing short of perfection. From the moment we initially toured the venue, we knew there was something special about this place. Tito was very helpful in making our special day so perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at ease. We arrived earlier than expected, and despite a wedding wrapping up just before ours, the team was incredibly accommodating. There was not one bad comment or feedback on the food, in fact our guests raved on every single dish, especially the Mac n cheese with shrimp in cocktail hour. A special thank you to Mike, the maître d', who was simply outstanding. He ensured everything ran flawlessly and was incredibly attentive to our needs. I've went to an event last night, the waiter doesn't give me time to eat my food, seriously?? He keeps taking my food away like he's in a hurry. Lemon sorbet was like solid ice, no big deal, I let it sit for 15 mins I turn around the waiter takes it away! Everything not just that... they need to respect the guest more.. not saying the place sucks, it takes 1 person to leave a bad taste in someone's mouth. The facility is very nice, upscale, and charming for any event. I went there for the first time for a fund raising event which was a brunch. I was not impressed beyond the looks for the place. Within only a half hour after the party started with the cocktail hour, the serving trays were out of food and it took very long for them to replenish it. This happened continuously through the afternoon during the main course. Everything was buffet style. It was as if nobody was monitoring the trays. Now to the food itself; fried calamari was mushy, the chicken franchise was tasteless and even when the Pene Ala vodka was finally replenished, it was COLD. My wife and I and most of my family came here for a wonderful event a little while back. Let me tell you, this place is gorgeous!!! It is one of the most elegant venues in NJ. This place is in the middle of nowhere lol! Also, unless you are really actively looking, there is a decent chance you will miss the entrance. They do have signs, but they are a tad small... They do light up at night!!! Then just drive on up to the entrance, where you will be greeted by the valet. Inside is stunning! There is someone standing there assisting you in getting to your event. For the event that we went to, it was located in the basement. We had a cocktail hour in what id like to say was the hallway? It was definitely unique! I have never seen a hall do that before. There was plenty of space, and everyone had a seat! All the food, from the fresh pasta mixed just for you to the meats and cheeses, from the calamari to the carving station, all the food was killer! They also had several passed Hors d'oeuvres. Staff was very very friendly! Drinks were also flowing very nicely. They had 1 bar that was doing a decent job of handling the party. We then went into the Belmont room for our event. It is very elegant, and cozy! And I mean cozy! The ceiling is fairly low, so if you are taller than average, you might feel a little cramped. I also was not a fan of the pillars all over the room. I know that they are necessary, and for our party it was not an issue. The staff continued to be friendly and not only took our dinner order, but our drink orders as well. My filet was perfect! There was not 1 complaint about the food from anyone on our table! Beautiful venue with picture perfect surroundings. This is a beautiful place to have a wedding. The staff address hard working and helpful without being intrusive. They all work together to make the guests feel good. I dropped a fork and a staff member picked it up smiled and gave me a new one: just helpful. Cocktail hour was great. A huge variety of food that was delicious. My favorite were the lamb chops but the shrimp and stuffed mushrooms were among my favorites as well. Entrees were okay, typical wedding food that doesn't meet the mark. Their desserts were delicious though. I especially enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberry. The waitress had long braids which were not completely "up" it was disgusting to see them actually touch a plate of food at one point. She was very rough and rude , slamming plates down and actually "kicked" my tricky tray baskets I had won out of the way. The food took forever and wasn't worth it. Overly salty , no taste. Soda on the table was warm as was the water. The only good thing was the pasta. The bartender were good. Wait staff was also passing out hors d'oeuvres, but I didn't get to taste any because everyone kept taking them all before the waiter got to my table lol. - Dinner: We all started with a salad that was adorably plated with thin slices of cucumber wrapped around it then we were given a lemon sorbet as intermezzo. I ordered the chicken wellington for dinner. - Dessert: The Viennese table(s) at the end of the night had such a variety of sweets to choose from - cake, pastries, cookies, ice cream, crepes, fondue, chocolate mousse, and more. The food tasted okay. Some cocktail hour meats were either undercooked or overcooked, the scallops had no flavor to them although they were cooked well, my chicken wellington was kind of soggy, and the desserts were average. Stuck between 3 stars and 4 stars. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. Very spacious. The outside was what really caught my attention. The landscaping is beautiful with gazebos and fountains throughout the land. In fact, you can have your wedding right at the Estate if you wish. When you arrived to the venue you were greeted with either champagne, mimosa, or Bellini. I loved this touch. There was also a bar if you preferred another beverage. Cocktail hour was nice. I did think that the oysters weren't shucked properly. I had to use my fork to tug off the rest of the meat. I am a very big seafood fan and they had a lot of variety here. They had a pizza section which was cute. I thought the presentation of the salad during dinner was superb. We had lemon sorbet to clean off our pallets, very good, and then served dinner. I ordered the Chateaubriand steak which came with mashed potatoes and string beans. It was nicely cooked. It wasn't hard to eat nor chewy. I did not have any dessert as I was too full. It was a no-brainer once we toured the place and checked all of our boxes: closed to NYC, outdoors and inside spaces, best value, took care of all services, food, and beverages. We worked with Tito and had our wedding the Friday of Labor Day weekend. We took advantage of the August pricing for a long weekend. Tito took care of all of our concerns and made sure we were ready for our big day. Our guests loved the open space and all the food options; they thought cocktail hour was the main meal little did they know. The best part of having our wedding at the Tides Estate was having Alberto as our maitre d. He truly guided us and made sure our day and evening went smoothly and as planned. Our Wedding Reception at the Tides Estate could not have gone better. From the beginning, we had an extremely professional and productive relationship with Mike Stroganoff. He was extremely straight forward and certainly has a tremendous amount of experience with these events. His attention to detail is unbelievable and he deserves more plaudits than we can give. It certainly put our minds at ease. The timeline of planning provided by him was very appropriate and allowed us to hash out the details we wanted. The event was executed so well. The guests were simply in awe of the venue and the event. The feedback was simply tremendous and we could not have asked for more. The Maitre'D (Alberto) was extremely attentive to sequence of events and even made sure that we had something to eat in the midst of the event. It was truly a pleasure to work with Mike Stroganoff from the beginning to the end. I attended a wedding as a guest and although this isn't for me, if you're looking for that 'New Jersey catering hall', this one is pretty damn wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and you can get married under a nice canopy surrounding by nice landscaping. Mosey on down to the bar/green room where buffets are laid out for the cocktail hour. Just the cocktail hour was 2 rooms of unlimited food: Eggplant rollatini, lamb, a whole roasted pig, pizza, shrimp scampi, coconut shrimp, cured meats and cheeses, I could go on for days... literally. Some dishes were better than others. I definitely had a few bites where I was like "eh... this is a buffet." But, there were a few winners. I've been to these Italian North Jersey weddings so I know pacing is the name of the game. I do. We roll into the reception hall. Beautiful! Marble, huge windows, recessed high ceilings. If elegant halls are what you're looking for, yep, this place has got you. The most surprising part of this portion of the wedding? The sit down meal was phenomenal as well as the service. We ordered the eggplant parm and the chicken francaise to split - and both were cooked perfectly. Usually at these formal 100+ weddings, the sit down portion of the entree's are comparable to hockey pucks. Not the case here. Dancing, dancing, dancing. Dessert. Enter back into the bar/other room area. 2 full rooms of dessert. Desserts as far as the eye can see. I'm talking 5 kinds of pie, tiramisu, donuts, ice cream station, crepe station, chocolate covered strawberries, fondue station, cookies. Everything. This is gluttony at its finest. It also, coincidently, is my downfall. Damn you, you sweets. Went to our 75th anniversary union dinner at The Tides Estate, the place is gorgeous, but the food was horrible. The cocktail hour and dinner food that was suppose to be hot was cold, had no taste and they had some of the leftover cocktail food with dinner. The servers were not refilling the trays, you had to ask them to, meanwhile the manager was just standing around not directing the servers. The alcoholic beverages were watered down. The deserts were stale and the DJ was horrible, no one was dancing. I would not attend another event at The Tides Estate. read more

To say wedding planning during Covid has been stressful would be an understatement but I am so grateful my fiancé and I chose The Tides Estate to have our ceremony and reception at. Tito, the banquet manager has been so incredibly pleasant to work with and truly took so much weight and pressure off our shoulders during this difficult time. We had our wedding here in early April. Everyone at The Tides made sure our day went by without a hitch. You can tell that the staff really enjoys what they do and they care about your day. Everywhere I looked, someone on the staff was telling me congratulations. Thumbs up! The bridal suite cocktail hour was incredible. I was nervous about missing out on all of the regular cocktail hour food, but we were so satisfied upstairs. My husband is still talking about the lamb chops. Direct quote - "They were the best I ever had." Our guests are still commenting about how delicious the food was and how much fun they had. My cousin's wedding reception was held here and it was beautiful. As you enter the mansion you are greeted by a grand marble staircase. The garden area is perfect for photos and cocktail hour. They forgot to serve coffee for the entire table. No refill of water, when asked never returned. Basically, no service for a meal table. The wedding reception I went to at the Tides automatically gets five stars for the fact that it wasn't mine. I'm just saying. But I'd give it five stars without that fact anyway! This place is so gorgeous. Marble everywhere, sparkling light fixtures, just completely modern and sparkling. This was pretty much the most incredible reception I've ever been to, and I couldn't picture it anywhere else but at the Tides. The staff was completely on top of it and gave us champagne upon entrance, where we hung out in the front room with the giant staircase and stunningly tall windows. We moved into the next hour which was "light bites" and an open bar - that just has Aimee written all over it. I soon found out that light bites at the Tides apparently means hey, here are over 40 different kinds of food for you to try and they're all going to blow your mind. My dad actually thought it was dinner and piled up three plates for my sisters & I because he thought that was it, so we ended up eating a ton... we all agreed later that every single thing was had was fantastic. Everything. The open bar was my best friend and the bartender made us whatever we wanted, and wasn't afraid to be a little heavy-handed with the booze. Next was dinner (because we obviously hadn't had enough already) and the main room was just lovely. Beautiful lighting and flowers, and we were all sat in tables of 8-9. The staff, again, was completely on top of it with our drinks and whatever we needed. The dinner options were all excellent... I loved the light salad wrapped up in a cucumber lining, and my steak was cooked perfectly. The vegetarians at my table were crazy about the eggplant parmesan, too. The sorbet I wasn't too crazy about, but that's alright. We danced for about three hours after this madness but I'm sure it'll take me all week to work off all that food. The next thing that happened was the dessert room. Yes, an entire f***ing room full of desserts. Cakes, cookies, pies, and other beautiful creations. We went wild in that room. At one point I had chocolate on my arm and on my dress. Maybe that's why this wasn't my wedding? Either way, wow. Just wow. We ended the night with some of the best coffee I've ever had and the rest is history. This is a wonderful venue for a reception and the food, service, and everything else is all top notch. I'm not sure if I'm more surprised at how good the food was (especially the mass-produced entrees) or the fact that my grandpa's an animal on the dance floor. read more

I was just recenly here for a Saturday night wedding reception. Frankly I'm left a bit bewildered at the 4 & 5 star reviews I've just read. Yes yes, this place is pretty. The outside gardens are gorgeous. Fine marble & chandeliers throughout the estate. So 5 stars if you're going here to just take photographs. However.... First, the bathroom downstairs: Not very clean, no attendant (ok fine, not terrible). No facial tissues. No hot water. Oh, and the water faucets wouldn't stay on, had to keep pressing them down. Good thing they had the no-touch soap and paper towel dispensers, eh. And thanks for the basketful of cheesy mist perfumes & maxi pads. How about some hand lotion and hair spray, something I could actually use. Cocktail hour: Fresh clams were bad, tried two just to be sure. Potato Pierogi's were hard & cold. The salad's were pretty tasty (potato, chick pea, artichoke & cucumber). A very nice variety/spread, If only the staff had paid more attention to the quality. Oh and no seltzer or club soda?! jeez. Main reception: Beautiful decor, giant dance floor, perfect lighting. Salad course: The salad looked amazing, a handful of greens wrapped in a thinly sliced cucumber decorated with some shredded carrots...Beautiful...ooops, they forgot the dressing. Next: Citrus rock...I mean Sorbet to cleanse the palate. Would have been delicious I'm sure, if only it wasn't a frozen brick. Seriously, they could've taken it out of the freezer 20 minutes earlier and wouldn't have made a difference. Turn up that freezer thermostat. Dinner: Hard rolls on the table. My entree was..omg gross. I get it, you're mass producing dinner for 240 people. But maybe dedicate 1 staff member to making sure you're not serving partially frozen & soggy eggplant parm. And the green beans...well... they are supposed to be a bit on the crunchy side, cooking 101, not over-boiled & mushy. The table wine: Might as well have been a jug of Carlo & Rossi. Dessert/Coffee: While the coffee FLAVOR was good, they didn't make it strong enough. Felt like i was drinking hot brown water. I never write reviews but this place was so bad I wouldn't recommend any one go there. I went to a christening recently, when you first pull up it would be a beautiful exterior except for the fact that they are under construction and it looks like a construction site. When we first arrived to the party, we were 10 minutes late and we were standing in the hallway waiting for them to finish setting up the room. The party started at 5 and I never seen courses come out so fast. I figured its a 4 hour party by 6:15 we were being served the main course. Usually you space out the meals, let people dance a little. Let me start with the appetizers, the butter for the bread tasted like refrigerator, the appetizers were served room temperature. The mussels tasted like they've been sitting in the Hudson River, they were so fishy. The eggplant rollatini was so dry I was about to choke. The shrimp was boxed fried shrimp from costco. When they brought out the pasta it tasted like jarred tomato sauce, it was so gross. In between they served lemon sorbet that tasted like sour milk. The main course choices had a prime rib au jus that I wouldn't serve to my dog. It looked like it came out of a spam container and tasted like cat food. It felt like speed eating. As soon as 1 course was done, the next course was being brought out before we finished. Throughout the last 2 courses, Including dessert. The waiters never brought out any utensils. We asked but never received. We were sitting there waiting and eating with our hands like animals. Ohhh! By the way, when a couple of people asked to wrap up their food at my table, probably to serve to their dog, the waiter just wrapped it in foil and threw it on the table. All the items in the dish were wrapped up all together in a ball in foil paper. Not even in a bag so the juice wouldn't drip out. I really wouldn't recommend this place, maybe weddings they do better but for a christening it was horrible. I feel bad for the people who spent money on the party. We attended my cousin's wedding here at The Tides around late April. It's a great venue for a wedding! The ceremony was outside and the weather couldn't have been more perfect--sunny and warm. We were actually toasting a little bit outside as there was no shade, but I'd rather be warm than be cold! Though the trees in the area have not flowered yet, the outdoor space was still beautiful. The wedding was at noon and when we got to the Tides around 11, a coffee, tea and mimosa bar was waiting for us at the lobby area. I had both coffee and mimosa and they were both good. The lobby area is also very nice with its impressive chandeliers (3 of them). There appeared to be 2 ballrooms on this floor, one larger than the other. We caught a peek of the larger ballroom and it looks like it can hold a few hundred people. My cousin's reception was downstairs. The "cocktail hour" was held just outside the smaller ballroom where the luncheon is to take place. The term cocktail hour is a misnomer. When I hear that term, I think cocktails, wine, beer, passed canapés or hors d'oeuvres, crudités, charcuterie and cheese platters on a buffet table. But in New Jersey, this is is not the case. We found platters and platters of food, a pizza and pasta station, a seafood station, a salad station, and a carving station with Lechon (roasted pig), corned beef and rack of lamb. Some food items in the buffet were better than others, but my hubby, sister and her boyfriend, and I were wondering how we're going to be able to eat another lunch after the cocktail hour! We went to another cousin's wedding three years ago in New Jersey too at The Brownstone and they had the same spread during "Cocktail Hour." Crazy! So if you're ever going to a wedding in NJ, be forewarned that venues like The Tides will be feeding you like crazy. For the sit down part of the lunch, I had the wild salmon dish with veggies and my companions had the Chateaubriand steak. As far as wedding food goes, the quality and taste of the food here are fairly typical for large banquets. The salmon was fine. The lemon sorbet was way too icy. I could hardly scoop up the sorbet with a spoon. They also gave us a huge plate of assorted dessert items (brownies, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate mousse cups and cannoli). And they then tell us that there is a chocolate fountain outside. I'm just like, I'm done. Not even touching that. I had to leave what little room I had for the wedding cake! Service was great. The concierge happily gave me the wifi password when I inquired about it. Cell phone reception ( I have AT&T) in the area is not very good and in the downstairs ballroom, you will not be able to get cellular service. Even the wifi was spotty down there. All in all, The Tides is a wonderful wedding venue. I still have a couple of unmarried cousins in the area. I may be attending another wedding here in the future! read more

This hall is gorgeous. The food was pretty good contrary to the other reviews that I read. The effects were pretty dessert was good and the place itself was pretty. Drinks were "Lit" lol bartenders kept the drinks nice and strong. Contemplating planning my own wedding there( but not getting married lol). If you're looking for a spot to book you're wedding definitely look in to this venue. Picture Op was gorgeous as well. read more

I attended a wedding at the Tides. It was my first time here. I was told that they had just completed a major renovation. I will say that this place was amazing. From the food to the service-excellent. The spread that was put out for the cocktail hour was great. Carving station, seafood, veggies, cheeses, it was all here and great tasting. What a beautiful venue this is online, too bad I won't ever see it! I contacted the tides estate today and Tito emailed me back. I filled out the online form submission which he clearly didn't read. I was inquiring about a bridal shower and he sent me pricing for a wedding with a higher guest minimum that I had inquired about. Totally understand having minimums and sending me the wrong info but sending rude emails asking for my dates is beyond me. Your supposed to be winning my business, also as I stated in my email. Please read the form that was submitted with all this information outlined already- I already outlined dates and am not about to deal with rudeness before I even sign a contract. So, your big day is fast approaching. Final preparations are being made, and you're constantly being reminded that you get to change your tax exemption status in only a few short months. If you do slip away from reality briefly, the copious payments to all vendors will snap you right back to reality. Then, you get the good news. The Tides Estate, your chosen catering hall, contacts you to schedule your food tasting in order to finalize the menu. If you're a guy, chances are the thought of sampling delicious catering hall dinner and desserts is the only reason you accepted your fiancée's proposal in the first place! When you arrive, the GM guides you to your tasting location, which in our case was the room that we selected for our reception. The group has the room all to itself with a waiter for guidance. He will educate the table on each of the options, and even make wine pairing recommendations if requested. The appetizers, dinner, and dessert were all delicious, and I'm confident that any selection will go over well with all guests. Perhaps the most important lesson from this trip, however, was the importance the Tides Estate places on service. I went to a tricky tray at The Tides Estate yesterday evening and the event itself was fabulous. Unfortunately the same can't be said for their staff. To start they have a complimentary valet which I would've utilized and would've tipped except they used their staff to direct us to park ourselves which was a let down. I've been here before and have used their valet and they do a good job. However not last night. Rarely do I expect valet but when I go to a venue such as The Tides Estate well I expect it. Their was a cash bar which was expected however I was charged 3 different prices for the same order throughout the night. One beer and one cocktail came to $10 then $8 then $14. I don't know where they got their numbers as a beer was $3 and a cocktail was $9. I told the staff that each time and gave up. Then the food was alright though portions were extremely small. Salad barely covered the plate and the pasta dish had more sauce then pasta. I'm not one to be picky at a large catered event or a charity event but I got maybe 5 bites of salad and about 15 individual penne noodles. My guest with me had the same complaints. Their main entry was a choice. He got the chicken and I the prime rib. We wanted to do half and half to try both. However his chicken was mushy and luke warm while my prime rib was over cooked and cold. I'm glad they had hot gravy on the table otherwise I wouldn't have been able to eat more then one bit of it. Then dessert was a sample of a brownie, chocolate chip cookie, chocolate moose, and chocolate covered strawberry. The gentleman I'm with can have absolutely NO chocolate or caffeine. I told our server and he said sorry everything has chocolate tonight. Well some people got sugar cookies instead of chocolate chip cookies meaning there is indeed other options. I then found another server and she said give me a second I know the dessert is pre-plated but let me grab my manager. The manger came over and asked what was wrong and I again explained that he can't have caffeine or chocolate and would be happy with absolutely anything. So he asked if he would like fruit or ice cream or cookies or anything. My guest decided on fruit and thanked the manager who brought a huge plate of fresh fruits. Honestly the manager was the saving grace for the evening. I wanted to give the venue 2 stars but his accommodating nature brought them up one star. Again the event was great but aren't affiliated with The Tides Estate. However their venue's service was sub par at best. read more

Decent food... not much else. Came here for a wedding banquet. The downstairs area can hold about 150 guests. Low ceilings. Reception buffet is good, but lacks enough seating. Banquet food is okay, but portion size is small. Indoor decor varies. The foyer is nice, and has a nice marble staircase. Great as a photo spot. The Cocktail/Reception area downstairs is subpar. Few seats, crowded and cramped. The downstairs banquet area does not fair much better with not much room for a 10x8 dance floor. It's great that people can self park in their lot, but the lot can get full fast. The outdoor terrace area is nice, but hard pressed to fit all 150 guests. Being use to 300+ guest weddings, I can only endorse this place if you are on a tight budget and have few guests. read more
