The brick house has always been a favorite spot of mine for steak in the Bergen county area. We came on a Tuesday evening for my father's 70th birthday. It was on the quieter slower side for reservations which was more enjoyable. We started off with appetizers besides the table bread. The cheesy bread is a favorite compared to their normal bread. The Asian calamari from the specials list was not something I personally enjoyed as I'm not a teriyaki sauce person and the rings were a bit chewy. The ahi tuna everyone at my table seemed to enjoy as well. The clams casino were personally my favorite and I do wish we had ordered two of them as the clams were very small. Onto entrees most of us ordered some type of steak. Filet mignon, NY strip, or braised short rib. All were cooked to our perfect temperatures and well flavored. A bonus is that all entrees come with a salad, baked potato, or fries instead of having to order sides à la carte. The halibut oreganata was also delicious and a huge portion as well. I will say dessert was probably my least favorite part of the meal. The chocolate cake I had was just ehh it was extremely sugary and the vanilla ice cream tasted like breyers to me. The cookie dough cake was the best option our table chose as it was unique and well presented and not overly sweet at all. The coconut sorbet was alright but an extremely small portion for $12. The cannoli was also interesting and I would probably not order again as it tasted more meringue and sweet than the typical ricotta cannoli filling. Overall a good meal but we definitely could have changed the appetizers we ordered, and ordered no desserts. Our server Rolando was fantastic. We never had to ask for water, drinks to be filled, and he happily accommodated any questions or requests we had. read more

We were so impressed to find another steakhouse in Bergen county with a cigar room and such a good porterhouse. The portions are HUGE and the seafood tower had amazing clams. The cigar selection was a little limited, but overall the service at the bar, cigar room, and the restaurant area were great. read more

Always like the Brick House. It is a bit on the pricey side, but have always enjoyed the food and find the staff courteous. Their pastas are always a hit, as are their fish dishes and salads. I have found their steaks to be hit or miss. For apps we love their eggplant rollatini, calamari and stuffed mushrooms. The smoked fish is also delicious. Extensive drink menu and love the addition of the cigar bar. They also have various rooms which you can rent out for private parties. read more

I've been there for an event and I think they do a decent job; I would not recommend going there for a lunch or dinner. We had lunch there today and it was not great. We ordered fillet mignon medium - they came well done and did not look like a fillet mignon you would get at a steak house - the piece was large and thin... They charge steak house prices (I believe fillet mignon was $55 or so) but it was definitely not steak house quality. Service was great at first but went downhill with the meal - we had to wait forever for our dishes to be cleared - my husband eventually went to the front desk to ask them to clear the dishes. When they finally brought dessert menu the waiter came back 3 minutes later asking if we were ready to order dessert - while we were still reading the menu. I would NOT recommend the Brick House to anyone. The NY strip streaks we ordered were flavorless and very tough. Our server was passive aggressive and rude. Even the ketchup and butter came to the table in plastic to-go containers. The entire experience was far, far worse than any other half-decent local restaurant or steakhouse. I attended an office meeting at The Brick House, and a few things could've been better. First, the pros: It is a beautifully decorated venue with lots of meeting/banquet rooms. They had a nice audio visual set up for the presentation that occurred during our meeting. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. As for the food, my favorite was the seafood platter appetizer which included oysters, clams, lobster, and shrimp with all of the accoutrements. The antipasti platter and fried calamari were also quite good. Now, for the cons: There is valet parking, but not enough valets to take care of all of the cars. When I arrived, there was an 10 car "pile up." I asked if I could self-park and was directed to the adjoining lot. Upon entering the restaurant, I asked the receptionist which room was the location of our meeting. I was directed downstairs. After all of our group had arrived and were seated, we were told to re-locate to a different room upstairs. It seems that there was only one server for our party of 30 who quickly took our entree order as soon as we were re-seated. I informed him that I am dairy intolerant, so he suggested the filet mignon entree, and offered a pasta marinara instead of the penne with vodka sauce. I later realized that he was unfamiliar with food allergies and intolerances when my steak and sides arrived without butter or seasoning. He also didn't realize that gorgonzola salad dressing contains dairy, so I refused the salad. No beverage orders were taken until about an hour into our meeting. During the appetizer course, our server took food from the platters at each of our tables to make a plate "for someone." Some of our group never received forks in order to eat their salad. Fortunately, we had several food courses before the entrées were served because we waited two hours for them. Most of our group left before dessert was served. There were several group events occurring that night. Perhaps there was a staffing issue, or maybe orders fell behind in the kitchen. The Brick House is a beautiful venue with the potential to be a great place to have a meeting or celebration. One of my colleagues initially was considering it for an upcoming family event. However, half-way through our dinner meeting, she decided against it. read more

They know how to hire well here - most of the staff been here for years and every one of them warm, friendly and professional. Here I enjoy mostly the steaks / especially porterhouse for two. Came here for a birthday and it was great. From the food to the drinks and the service, everything was amazing. The seafood sampler was a favorite and very fresh. We also got fried calamari, cheesy bread, eggplant Parm, penne vodka, salad, and antipasto spread for apps. For the mains we had the filet mignon which was cooked perfectly and so good (I don't even usually like that cut) and the salmon. It was a bit overcooked on the inside for me but the ends and the sauce were delicious. The drinks were perfectly balanced. The staff was so helpful and very nice. read more

I visited Brick House for dinner at 5pm on a Wednesday. The parking lot was packed and it was surprisingly very difficult to find a parking spot. At some point they did open the valet lot up which helped. The restaurant was cozy inside with a fireplace near our table. Our waiter was awesome. Very knowledgeable regarding the menu items. We ordered an assortment of items from the appetizer menu. The stuffed mushrooms were quite literally the bomb dot com. I could eat those every day. For my entree I ordered the french onion soup and the cod which came with a salad and baked potato. The french onion soup was good. The cod was just okay. The menu was overall very expensive. If it wasn't for business I most likely wouldn't be going here for a night out on my own. I did enjoy my visit and my mouth is watering again just thinking about those stuffed mushrooms. read more

So the location is great. Very neighborhood which is important for those of us who like something in our neighborhood with good people. However the service is awful. It's upscale mind you. I got seated in the patio and never saw a waitress/waiter for 45min. Also the food is not great. I would pay half the price and be like....okay. That wasn't great but it wasn't poorly priced. However...they charge what fine NYC restaurants charge for steak. And trust me the service and food is nowhere close. So. Hate to say it. But things a big pass and apparently I'm not alone. Look at the poor reviews. Hey better and we will be back. Fire your management. You have a decent location and ambiance. read more

I expected a nice steakhouse dinner. What I got was not good. Our waiter came and it looked as if we were bothering him by being there. He even kind of through up his hands because only 2 of my party of 4 had their drink order ready he just walked off. Extremely rude. We order the bacon and smoked fish as an app. Delicious which is the only reason it got 2 stars. Our salads seem to have been forgotten since it took an hour to get them and only when I mentioned it did they come out 10 minutes later. An overdressed soggy mess. We all ordered steak all not cooked to the medium rare we all wanted. Ranging from medium to well. There was no sear on my steak a ribeye. And almost burnt on everyone else's filet. I ordered chimichurri to go with my steak it was absolutely disgusting see pictures for reference. It was literally olive oil with some yellow green stuff at the bottom. It was an horrible excuse for a sauce. When the tray of our food came out that same waiter served half the tray walked off sang happy birthday to another table and I stopped him as he was walking by us after and pointed to the half filled tray of our food and seemed totally irritated with me and said yes your food I'm not done. I have never seen someone serve half the food walk off and then almost forget he didn't finish. On top of the bad food and horrendous service you can hear the other waitstaff yelping at each other. we have been to the Brick House many times over the years and always make our reservation for Christmas Dinner with our best friends. Tonight was a terrible experience. Initially all was fine. We ordered dinner. I had steak au poivre. it was tough as nails. i notified the waiter and he called over the head waiter who looked at me like I was crazy. I told him it was not edible. He asked if I wanted something else , but with a nasty attitude. I ordered filet, which was fine, at that point we were ignored for over an hour. No asking if we wanted additional drinks, no follow up as to my satisfaction. Total abandonment like we had done something wrong. The bill for the four with tip was $450.00. Not even the offer of a complimentary coffee, nothing , just a charge for the filet . they coukd have eaten the extra $7.00 for the filet , but no. There were no thanks for coming, nothing, This is the worst service I have ever experienced. The head waiter should be reprimanded. They are no where near as good as they used to be. When arriving there is valet parking but you can self park as well. Main foyer/entrance is beautiful, main bar area is nice too, but some of the dining areas are a bit dated or starting crack a bit in the walls. My party and I were a sizeable group, 6 adults and 2 kids and a toddler, so I understand that confusion was bound to happen with a lot going on, plus with other large dining groups in the same room, for the waiter serving us. He forgot a few things or needing remindjng for certain things, but not the worst experience that I had. Food portions overall were pretty large, and/or worth the price. Some dishes were a little dry or over seasoned, but again, not the worst that I have experienced. Would truly give a 3.5 rating if I could, over just 3. If I were to be in the area, I would come again, to give it another try, with the hopes tipping the scale to be a 4 star experience or a true 3 star experience. read more

I don't usually leave reviews however I recently had dinner at the Brick House on 12/07/24 with a party of 14 adults for our Christmas Party. The Brick House is a beautiful location for an events being the reason we selected the location for our party. The food was good but not exceptional, and service we received I have to say was terrible. I feel the owners should be aware of it since our waiter was the direct contact person whom we had contact with. Our waiter (not sure Agim) left us several times where we had to ask the bus boys what happened to him. We had a hefty bill for the occasion but after surveying our group we I found we would most likely not return to the Brick House, as the waiter made it quite frustrating for most of us. I hope this will make the Brick House a better place to visit. read more

I recently attended a birthday brunch at The Brick House, though it oddly did not have a menu for that time of day, leaving us to order from the dinner list instead. The pricy options were mostly main courses with included sides. A complete meal was a bit much for me at 1 pm, but I did the best I could. Before the food even arrived, we were given a plate of toast slices covered with melted cheese, as well as large rolls. The cheese was funky, but made the bread really delicious, while the rolls were a bit too dry. Next up was the house salad, which included a variety of lettuces, grape tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers, and olives in a savory vinaigrette. I thought the salad was great and appreciated the plentiful toppings, but I also felt there could have been less dressing. For my main course, I selected the Black Bass Oreganta special. The fish was fresh and tender. However, it was also breaded, which I would have avoided had I known that fact. Maybe I should have been more familiar with the oreganta preparation, but also the server did not give me many details when I had inquired about it. The sauce was also an oily one with lemon, oregano, garlic, and white wine. It was fine, but not really my taste. I was able to accompany the filet with my choice of a baked potato, shoestring French fries, or rice. I selected the rice, which was enjoyable. I tried the fries as well and found them sad and unseasoned. Overall, the food offerings were rather basic, but they were done reasonably well, and the portions were generous for the price. Despite my mixed feelings on the food, I thought the restaurant, which was located inside a beautiful home, was very elegant. The staff was also largely attentive, even when we were the only table, besides 2 large parties that were taking place in other rooms. I suppose I would go back to The Brick House for its lovely atmosphere, but I would probably order something less saucy next time, like the steaks, which DID receive rave reviews from the other folks at my table. read more

Never been here, our 1st time. I brought my wife here for her Birthday. This place used to be a farm house in the 1800's. It's classy, elegant and huge. Our hostess was Angela, she's friendly and showed us to our table. Our waiter was Edgar, a very charming, funny and outgoing fella. We enjoyed knowing him. He makes a fantastic Coconut Malibu. We also met other superb staff: Anna Maria, Luis Miguel, Lenny & Rolando. These fine folks are cordial, amiable & professional. Rolando even sang the Happy Birthday song to my wife, he's highly talented, he has a strong baritone operatic voice. For appetizer we ordered the Seafood Tower, which includes: Lobster Tails, Shrimps, Lumps of Crab Meat, Oysters & Clams. Be forewarned this tower is all about Cold Seafood. We liked the Cocktail Shrimp with its sauce, the Oysters & Clams were good although it would have benefited with some Malt Vinegar sauce; the Lobster Tails and Lump Crab Meat were tasteless, I wish we had warm melted butter to dip the lobster & Crab. Wife decided upon the Steak Au Pouvre medium rare with Escarole & Saffron rice. The steak was amazingly delectable, huge and tender. The rice was full of flavor, she enjoyed her Escarole as well. I opted for the Cajun Delmonico Ribeye. Wow! This is one fine piece of meat. Mouthwatering, thick and yet tender steak, my side was a baked potato with cream & chives. Edgar brought my wife a slice of rich & flavorful Keylime Pie. She loved it! This would have been a perfect 5 star if it wasn't for the disappointing Seafood Tower. We were a table for 16 and Frank Sinatra playing in background made the evening even more special. Appetizers were great and Porterhouse Steak for two really tasty and tender, cooked perfectly. I was very disappointed of the food and the menu. Before Aldo's owned it, there was never a fixed menu on New Years eve. Last night, it was and the entrees were very limited and did not include a vegetable. My husband's appetizer which was the crabmeat martini had shells in it. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was served medium. The menu stated rice pilaf but instead we were served a yellow rice similar to ricaroni. The food was served to quickly not allowing us any time to enjoy the evening. I don't think we'll go back again. read more

I was here for a moderately sized outdoor lunch party during COVID. Everything went smoothly and the whole experience encouraged me to come back when everything returns to normal. Lunch started off with an abundance of appetizers for each table. Each of them were very good. The clams oreganata though were great. I continually went for more. After eating the clams, I had to choose salmon oreganata as my entrée. I was not disappointed. The only hiccup was some confusion over available beers. The waiter initially told me they had several available but in reality only a handful were. Life moved on. It also bears mentioning that this a beautiful venue. I can live with some of that but the food was really subpar. I got the filet medium and it was bad from the cut of meat to the strange flavor. The fact that The Brick House looked like a very warm inviting atmosphere was just what we wanted. Didn't really have any expectations in advance. I figured it would just be a nice good meal. But we were impressed beyond expectations! The service was first rate--attentive &professional . The appetizers of BBQ Shrimp wrapped in Bacon and Calamari were both delicious and beautifully presented. The Steak Au Poivre was as good or better than I've had at any Steakhouse in NYC or NJ. And the fact that it includes salad and Potatoes makes it a great value Great selection of desserts too. The atmosphere is elegant and comforting. Highly recommend! read more

One member of party ordered short rib ravioli.. what came to the table was definitely not short rib ravioli but a lobster ravioli., luckily this person was not allergic to shellfish... Another member of the party ordered the filet mignon medium.. came out completely raw... was sent back.. returned charred on the outside and barely cooked more inside.. was sent back again... came back extra charred on the outside and still undercooked on inside.... Completely inedible Two other members of the party had steak both were extremely tough. Only saving grace was the poor overworked wait staff.. def wouldn't recommended this place for food. read more
