Great help from Scott who really knows everything about tile and also has excellent decorating skills to ensure the new tile matched the new flooring, cabinets and counter top for the kitchen. Was able to accomplish the task in minutes because Scott has a true handle on the tile they carry in the store. he walked over a couple aisles and pulled out the best one that matched perfectly. Had been to other tile stores with no success, if not for Scott probably would still be going to other tile stores searching with no luck! Good customer service and tile selection. My sales guy was very helpful. However, I experienced major problems with the Contractor on their recommendation list. AE Tile Inc, listed as number one on their list was a headache to deal with. The owner was rude, and my job was messy. The owner tried to charge me more than was listed on my contract, and no additional work was added. I would not recommend them. read more

My contractor looked at my receipt and informed me they had me order extra supplies that weren't needed, ordered more than what I needed (I provided them the measurements for the room I wanted to update, and did the calculation of boxes needed for tiles) and the price is too expensive for the items I ordered. read more

The Tile Shop started out really well, dropped the ball but recovered their own fumble so I guess 4 stars is in order. Let me recap. I spied this store one morning on our way to a new fave breakfast place. We are on year 2 of a three year plan to finish updating our condo. We have the great room left to go which has mainly wood but a tiled entry way. We had looked at a home improvement store but their tile selection was pretty limited. The selection here was vast even within our specifications, 13 inch porcelain floor tile. We found one we really liked and purchased it painlessly. We even got free delivery if we selected Friday as our delivery which we did. Here's the fumble - my husband waited for a phone call that never came and no delivery, giving up golf. He called late in the afternoon and there were some mumbled excuses but then an offer to bring it out that night or the next morning, time of our choice. Sure enough, the tile arrived at nine am, right on time. Only it wasn't the delivery truck, it was our salesman. Way to recover; it doesn't give my husband back his day but he took responsibility and made it right! I would go here again but I would call in the morning to make sure that delivery was actually going to arrive! read more

For those that may not want to read the entire review/story, I will start with saying that this has been by far the worst customer service and by far the worst experience I have ever had with any retailer; largely due to the manager, Lane. We worked with the Tile Shop to pick our new flooring for our kitchen and were pleased with the selection, however, the service quickly turned horrible. My husband and I selected a tile that needed to be ordered. The manager, Lane, told us we needed to buy more boxes than what we needed, claimed it was standard practice. Due to renovations in general being expensive and being on a very tight budget, we asked and confirmed multiple times that anything that was not used could be returned. Lane said yes anything could be returned that was not used. Upon receiving the tile, once we were installing it, mid-installation, opened two boxes that every tile was cracked, like a spiderweb. We called and once again Lane said, no problem, to send him pictures and he needed to call corporate before starting the return/refund process. He called back claiming the corporate office would not give us a refund, and would only send two replacement boxes. That did not sit right with us, but we said fine, to send the replacement boxes. Because it did not sit right with us, we called the corporate office of The Tile Shop, and low and behold, corporate said we absolutely should be getting refunded for the two broken boxes, but because the Tinley Park location was franchised, it was up to that store specifically. It was up to Lane. We called Lane back and explained what corporate said and now all of a sudden, he said that he never said we could return the boxes because they were special order and claimed that he would never have said that to us. Not only did he say that, but multiple people heard it and he said it/implied it on multiple occasions. So, not only did the manager, Lane, lie about calling corporate and corporate's answer for a return/refund, he then tried to claim he never once told us they could be returned, again another lie. We called the store to talk to somebody else, and two separate employees said we should be able to return them no problem, but Lane stepped it and would not allow it to happen both times. When our replacement tile came in, nobody from the store ever contacted us. We had to call to see where it was since it was late from the original time frame we were given and on the phone the employee said, "oh yeah, that has been sitting here for a while." Usually, when something arrives, you let the customer know, or notify them in some way, so that they can pick it up. On top of all of that, the tile is absolutely horrible quality, we have only been walking on it for a week and there are scratching and chips that are not able to be removed or get off. I know this was a lot, but honestly do not waste your time at this store. The manager is rude, extremely unkind, dishonest, and greedy. Again, to reiterate, I am not exaggerating when I say this has been the worst customer service/experience I have had with a retailer ever. read more

We have been using this store for a couple of years now. Even though there are tile stores that are closer we use this store for speciality items. Some stores make you order an entire box when you only need a few pieces. One of the things I like about this store is you can order by the piece. I needed to return 6 pieces because the color was a bit off. I was talking to Gregory Krosel (who is an amazing employee) and he told me he would order 20 more pieces and we could pick out the 6 we wanted. When we returned, not only did he have the pieces laid out, he listened to us and what we were trying to do. He said "Hold on a minute", went to the back of the store and brought out something that was very similiar to what we had but was the perfect color and even saved us a couple of dollars. I have always been impressed with the employees and their customer service. read more

Tile shop is overpriced and staffed with inexperienced personnel who have little or any customer service expertise. Find another tile shop.... in Countryside. A third of the price and excellent customer service, and experienced salespeople. I agree with one of the reviews here that you can easily stand around waiting for someone to talk to you for 15 to 30 minutes. Then if they are helping you, they will walk away to another shopper. When I was told it was out of stock, he searched and found what I needed which meant getting it shipped with three different states. When there was a delay with one order, he kept me informed and found my tile and had it shipped to the store in time for my installation date. Great customer service! DO NOT ORDER your tile for the Tile Store. Extremely unhappy. Ordered tile that was discontinued but in stock, and was told it would take 2 wks. It took 4 wks and more than 1/3 of the tile was chipped. Called that night for a replacement. Called 1 wk later to see if the tile had arrived only to find out that no one had reordered the tile. Talked with the manager (Tim) and my sales associate (Megan)who guaranteed the replacement tile would be here in 1 more week. Nope!! NO TILE It is now 7 wks from when I originally ordered the tile....I still do not have the full order and I am unable to receive a refund because it is discontinued tile. So I currently have no product or money. What I do have is a bathroom that is remodeled except for the shower. read more

Been doing business here for a couple of years and will never again. Was sold way too many pieces of marble for my bathroom and yes, I procrastinated on returning the full box beyond their 6 month return policy but they wouldn't even give me store credit. I had a $700 order that I was placing and cancelled. I've spent nearly $3000 in this store so you'd think they would make a consideration since it's a timeless piece of marble that they still carry. Not only to mention their return policy, the staff working there at the present time are not helpful in the least bit. I had sales rep greet us after 10 minutes in the store and he was so overly aggressive. We had lots of questions but he wasn't listening to our concerns. He was more concerned about the 2 packs of cigarettes in his hand and obviously wanting to take a break. I'd be more receptive if he would've just said something like, take a look around and I'll be with you shortly. Long complaint short, all of my business will be with Floor and Decor in Countryside. Bit of a drive but prices are easily 30% less then this group of clowns. read more

I was ready to make my total tile purchase at this store. I chose a couple samples to take home. No problem. After deciding on what i wanted I went back to return the samples. I was surprised that since I put up cash for the samples , I expected to get cash back. No not the case. I would have to be sent a check in a few weeks. I guess they are very able to take cash but not to able to return cash. While there I asked the employee to give me a price on on of the sample that I returned .Felt we really liked it and was given a price of $400.00. Returning home I felt for 20 12x12 pieces of this tile was some what high. Checking on the internet I found a tile of the same quality for less than half the price. Then finding the tile I wanted for the walls so much less at other places. Unless you like paying top dollar stay away from there. I do know a lot of my thought was about having to wait for my cash. But thanks to that policy I was able to pay a lot less for the material I needed. Now i'll just wait "The Check In the Mail. Thanks Tile Shop. read more

The staff is friendly and helpful, but the prices aren't. I was quoted $5.49 a square foot on subway tile and I found it at A & D tile (Oak Lawn) for $2.49, and the latter was actually better than the Tile Shop's. The Tile Shop is nice but quite expensive. You get what you pay for, but they are also reasonable and negotiation isn't out of the question. On the surface this may just seem like a fancy tile store, but I found the staff was very knowledgeable, the quality of the product was outstanding AND yes, they do negotiate on the price. I have purchased a kitchen backsplash and a master bath and have not been disappointed. I actually would recommend shopping these guys, and if you find a better price, give them a shot to work something comparable out with you. The service is top notch! read more
