The Cuban sandwich was just phenomenally delicious. The pernil was well received by everyone too. The ropa vieja was great too. To be fair, there were no losing meals at that table. We could have all switched plates and enjoyed something delicious. This food is well flavored, but not spicy. That's not a flaw. That's just how the food is.

Despite having two employees standing at the front talking behind the register, the restroom had no toilet paper. When we placed our order, we were told they were out of yucca balls and that they also had no beer available. We ordered a tripleta, beef patties, and juice instead. What was most frustrating was that the customer who ordered immediately after us was able to order and receive yucca balls. We asked about the discrepancy, and the explanation we were given was that she had ordered them earlier. However, we clearly heard her place the order while standing there. A simple, honest response--such as acknowledging that there had been a misunderstanding and apologizing for serving the last order to another customer--would have gone a long way. Instead, the interaction left us feeling singled out and, honestly, racially profiled because the other customer was Hispanic. Ironically, we are Hispanic as well, which made the situation even more disappointing. To top it off, the "tripleta" sandwich was not an authentic tripleta. If the chef wants to call it a traditional tripleta, it should follow the classic preparation and the meats that make a tripleta what it is. Otherwise, it would be better to rename the sandwich rather than market it as a traditional tripleta. Anyone from Puerto Rico--or anyone who has enjoyed authentic tripletas at Puerto Rican restaurants--will immediately notice the difference and likely be disappointed. The sandwich would also benefit greatly from properly seasoning both the pork and the steak. Adding the traditional mayo-ketchup sauce would go a long way toward delivering the authentic flavor people expect from a tripleta. The beef empanadas made the one star in this review since they were decently stuffed. Just need to work better on the wrapping. I posted a pic. But at least they were made and not bought frozen. I understand that mistakes happen, but honesty, consistency, authenticity, and good customer service are what determine whether customers return. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations.

I waited in line while my husband secured a table so we could eat and play the board game we brought with us. I waited in line for 20 minutes until I got to the counter. They had 2 baristas, 1 cashier and a food runner. They all were so nice and were working so hard! They definitely need more staff to accommodate the amount of customers. I ordered the Banana Muffin iced coffee and it was excellent! The banana taste was just right! My husband got the frozen mocha and enjoyed it as well. For food we ordered the chocolate chip banana loaf- it was under cooked very doughy in the middle. We also ordered avocado toast, which was very good, and my husband got the bacon, egg and cheese wrap/ sandwich and he said it was ok. They had plenty of seating options which was great for the crowds of people there, and we had a good time with our coffee.

I mean the texture of the dough couldn't have been more perfect. Usually a tall fluffy donut has too much bread texture but no it was actually perfect. The flavors are ingrained into every single bite. That was seriously the best doughnut I've ever had in my life. The coffee was great too. The staff was incredibly kind and we were in an out faster than I could have imagined on a Sunday morning. Super cut atmosphere, just over all a 10 out of 10 experience. This is one of those places that, as a Floridian, I will be stopping here anytime I return to Panama City.

The concept pairs made-to-order doughnuts with a real espresso coffee program. The brand expanded into franchising and has since crossed 100 locations nationwide as of late 2025, with the Panama City Beach shop on Front Beach Road being one of those franchise locations. The Panama City Beach location fits right into the beach strip, serving the same made-to-order doughnut menu and coffee drinks as the rest of the chain, including gluten-free doughnut options. It's not hidden geographically or in a speakeasy way, but mostly due to its location in Panama City Beach. Surrounded by wild parties, ridiculous tourist attractions and mundanely depressing condo buildings, the Lotus Cafe is a hidden oasis that feels almost out of place. It's such a contrast to everything else around it that one struggles to comprehend being here. The space is huge, with cared for gardens and seating throughout them. The chicken taziki wrap is phenomenal. The coffees are perfect. The juices are invigorating. And, enjoying it all surrounded by plants is a purely spiritual experience. To keep the spirits happy, perhaps skip the quesadilla, as it wasn't the highlight of the meal. People working here are chill, pleasant and caring. Lotus Cafe is a truly special place and even writing this review feels a bit like revealing a well kept secret.
