The pernil was well received by everyone too. The ropa vieja was great too. To be fair, there were no losing meals at that table. We could have all switched plates and enjoyed something delicious. I visited this restaurant around 1:00 PM, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty, with only two tables being served. Despite having two employees standing at the front talking behind the register, the restroom had no toilet paper. When we placed our order, we were told they were out of yucca balls and that they also had no beer available. We ordered a tripleta, beef patties, and juice instead. What was most frustrating was that the customer who ordered immediately after us was able to order and receive yucca balls. We asked about the discrepancy, and the explanation we were given was that she had ordered them earlier. However, we clearly heard her place the order while standing there. A simple, honest response--such as acknowledging that there had been a misunderstanding and apologizing for serving the last order to another customer--would have gone a long way. Instead, the interaction left us feeling singled out and, honestly, racially profiled because the other customer was Hispanic. Ironically, we are Hispanic as well, which made the situation even more disappointing. To top it off, the "tripleta" sandwich was not an authentic tripleta. If the chef wants to call it a traditional tripleta, it should follow the classic preparation and the meats that make a tripleta what it is. Otherwise, it would be better to rename the sandwich rather than market it as a traditional tripleta. Anyone from Puerto Rico--or anyone who has enjoyed authentic tripletas at Puerto Rican restaurants--will immediately notice the difference and likely be disappointed. The sandwich would also benefit greatly from properly seasoning both the pork and the steak. Adding the traditional mayo-ketchup sauce would go a long way toward delivering the authentic flavor people expect from a tripleta. The beef empanadas made the one star in this review since they were decently stuffed. Just need to work better on the wrapping. I posted a pic. But at least they were made and not bought frozen. I understand that mistakes happen, but honesty, consistency, authenticity, and good customer service are what determine whether customers return. Woo! That was a tasty meal! The decor is nice. The atmosphere is comfortable. The service comes with a smile. I had a tamales cubanos and the ropa vejia with arroz & grandules. I found this place on yelp when I was looking for Cuban food in PCB. This place stood out to me because it's rated considerably higher than most other restaurants around here! My husband got the trifongo and I got the roast lechon, Congri, and Maduros. We loved every bite. This is officially on the list for places to eat when we vacation here. read more

Boricuba Cafe wasn't as enjoyable as we had hoped unfortunately. Staff was very friendly, music was good but waitress forgetful on two things we ordered and this broke our meal timing up which annoys me every time. For example who wants to eat their hot off the grill Cuban Sandwich with out the Fries they also ordered. After reminding our waitress, the fries took 10 minutes to cook and by that time my sandwich was half gone. Cuban sandwich was also lacking the island flavor I am used to. The fried pork ribs and rice were good but the rice was a little dry. My wives coconut flan was too thick for me but my wife said it was very good. What a wonderful place! I googled coffee shop and then this came up. Walked in and got super confused because it's a cafe/diner. The lady patiently waited for us to figure out what we wanted to do so we decided to just sit and order coffee. She left us the menu and we saw pastries and well ..... This was a happy accident. They have fantastic coffee. Cafe con leche and cortadito, strong and sweet. We got flan, cheesy puff balls which I don't know what the actual name is and a guava pastry. Everything was really great. I love a great Cuban, and I can only count on one hand having a great Cuban. Well, this place... definitely a decent Cuban sandwich. The plantains were spot on, and the crème cilantro sauce - is a must have - and I'm not a cilantro fan, AT ALL. We arrived as the doors opened (11am) and by the time we had our food (20-25min) the entire restaurant was full. This place will fill up fast - but SO worth the wait! Went on a Wednesday at noon. It's a little hole-in-the-wall joint in a strip mall. The servers were great at explaining menu items and giving recommendations. Husband loved the Cuban sandwich. I got the masitas with rice with red beans. We also tried the sweet plantains, but I wish we'd gotten the regular ones. Had a nice creamy cilantro dipping sauce. It was fun too try something new. I'm Puertorican living in the states for awhile. Excited when I found this place! I ordered rice, beans and pasteles (meat pies). My order was take out and received clump/sticky rice, under- seasoned beans (habichuelas) and pasteles that no puertorican could not construe as a pastel. Seasonal cuisine. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and was a little disappointed on the ratio, there were a lot of meat and cheese and pickles shoved in but the sauces were lacking and caused it to be a bit dry on each bite. Would recommend to add more mustard/cheese/mayo. The ham croquettas were also pretty delicious! Masking is being used but a little lax, seating is limited as the restaurant is not that large. This place got excellent reviews on yelp, but I didn't think it was all that good (Which is a shame because I REALLY wanted to fall in love with this place.) I thought the Mofongo was just decent. Wasn't the worst I've had but certainly not the best. The shrimp was seasoned well. That's really the saving grace here. Maybe they just had an off day in the kitchen. Next time I'm back in Florida I'll have to give this place another shot since other Yelpers rave about this place. But as of right now, I just don't see it. -_- read more

Come out of Just Jump and have a lovely coffee. We are addicted to their ham croquettes washed down with a Cortadito. Cortadito coffee has originated in Cuba. I Cortado means to cut so a Cortadito is basically milk "cutting" the espresso. This Cuban coffee is essentially sweetened espresso mixed with steamed or condensed milk. read more
