I'd never been to Kennington before last week's event pitting Qypers against each other in an epic Battle of the Sexes. But now I know how close to Waterloo it is, and downright cracking it is at The Tommyfield, I'm sure it won't be long before I'm back.
The Master Room is ideal for private parties; whether you're intending on raucous shenanigans, a civilised drinks and canapés reception or a sit-down meal, they can do the lot, and the room is flexible enough to suit all sorts of occasions. With comfy leather sofas, chandeliers, an outside balcony and its very own well-stocked bar, everything you could wish for is close to hand.
And then there's the staff. An absolute credit to Renaissance Pubs, they were warm, friendly and patient - through Zoolander-style walk-offs, improvised renditions of Abba and Lady Gaga and drinking competitions, they never once lost their cool.
Like Alex, I want to know the secret to their cheese on toast, because it was the tastiest I've had in ages.
