Great little gem in the heart of London, tucked away. We were looking for a cute place to have a pint, and we stumbled on this place. We only had drinks, they were yummy local beers. Service was excellent , we didn't try the food. Would go back for sure

Great local pub stones throw away from Hyatt Blackfriars where I was staying. We liked the food very much we came back here twice. Fish and chips, chicken and mushroom pie, and wings were great. The bartender and wait staff were very friendly and this pub closes late, unlike the other pubs nearby. Saturday night though the music was pumping loud and lots of more of the younger crowd filled up. Be careful not sitting in the reserved seats, as they will ask you to move to another table. And also not much seating in this pub either.

We loved stopping in for a quick drink and conversation. The bar staff was very kind and the surroundings are very nice. We didn't have food but will on our next visit.

After a bit of a rocky start- there was no one working in sight and no sign. We sat ourselves as there were menus on the tables and others sitting. My children and I picked menu items as a waitress emerged serving other tables but clearly ignoring us. After about 15- 20 minutes of this and other tables after us getting served, I asked the waitress if I should be ordering from the bar (bar tender came and went quite a lot) and was told no but I was not seated by her. Please note all the people after us also sat themselves but maybe received service bc they were English? Anyway, I simply asked her if I had made a mistake of some sort, could she not have just explained it to me? I gathered my things and offered to leave as clearly we were not being treated as the others to which she quickly changed her tune and attitude. I can never understand why people do this type of thing. If there is an issue or a mistake just let me know, passive aggressive behavior just isn't productive. Anyway, the food was excellent. And we only popped in here because it was by our hotel and we were on our way out. Our service was good after my exchange with the waitress.maybe she was just having a bad day.

Fish & chips enough said. That's what I came for. That's what I left happy about. Well, I also think the drinks and classic and beautiful pub atmosphere helped. Nonetheless, I was so happy with the fish and chips and would recommend it to anyone who wants a classic but done expertly!

Great atmosphere with good selection of beer. Service was good for a pub setting and they had lots of knowledge around beer and gin.

Our first meal in London and it was delicious! The steak pie, the duck croquettes, the scotched egg, the burgers...all outstanding. Go for the drink specials as their gin offering are yummy. The wine list was diverse, and everything was a delight. The general manager and our server were so friendly and attentive. We felt so welcomed and returned for dinner the next night!

Their award winning meat pies are something to write home about. The place can be crowded after work. It was worth the wait for a table. My first experience coming here for dinner after a few drinks at another bar. My co-workers all order their meat pie and I ordered their fish and chips. Then the next night, I came back by myself to experience a meat pie. I regretted ordering the fish and chips the first night. Their meat pies are much better.

Fantastic! Super friendly staff. The flatiron steak was perfectly cooked and the fish and chips were excellent! And to finish up... Sticky toffee pudding! Yummy!

The basement has a bar, lounge and restaurant. It was a little noisy. But we could still talk. The roasted scallops were cooked perfectly. The green sauce was tasty. I love the presentation. The Bill Marrow was also good. It was very rich. There were two kinds of Sunday roast a sirloin and a rump. Three of us had the rump roast dinner and three had the sirloin roast dinner. It was hard to tell the difference. All the dinners came with roasted potatoes greens and of course, Yorkshire pudding. It was all delicious. I have to say my favorite part is always the Yorkshire pudding. I also have a green salad, which is basically just lettuce with a light dressing. It was very fresh. We were too full for dessert. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and given water. In the UK, you can order sparkling, still or tap. Sparkling and still come with a charge. Tap is usually free. Our server was attentive without hovering. It's a good idea to make reservations at Hawksmoor especially for the Sunday roast. We got there at three by the time we left around 4:30 some of the roasts were already sold out. Just a note: Sunday roost is usually a late lunch not a dinner. It's good to go between two and four especially if you don't have a reservation.

Minced Beef & Onion: The most popular, apparently. Smooth and moist inside with a buttery flaky outside. Steak & Stout: Same great crust, but with a very distinctive inside, chunks of firm roast and thick gravy where you could actually taste the stout. Probably my favorite pie here. Chicken & Mushroom: A nice variation from beef, but by no means lesser. With it's large chunks and umami gravy, this was like a quick hit fix for when craving a proper chicken pot pie. Mash & Gravy: The mash was smooth and buttery. The gravy was more than plentiful. Kinda lives under the shadow of the delicious pies though. Sticky Toffee Pudding: Good, but not great. The toffee sauce felt a bit too thick and wasn't as warmed as I like it. The sponge cake was alright, but kinda dry, like they just plopped into the toffee sauce puddle. But it did do a good job of soaking up the sauce with a little spoon dexterity.

Got the gravy on the side, didn't think I'd use all of it, before I knew it, it was all gone. I will be mixing mustard into my mashed potatoes from now on. Originally came for the sticky toffee pudding, so of course we ended with that. Marvelous! The toffee sauce is so comforting and rich, the cake was so moist, and it was perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Didn't detect any dates, maybe they were too finely chopped. Also the apple and blackberry crumble just didn't hit the same; it was slightly dry and on the sour side (maybe don't take a bite directly after the pudding!) Service was so helpful and friendly; I'm sure they love watching people fall in love with their food. Quick with refills and offered extra condiments if needed. Great air conditioning as well (always a plus), and I loved the green blacksplash and blackboard caligraphy on the walls as well. Bangin'
