When I go to The Total Package, I get a relaxer touch-up and styling with Lori. She does an amazing job!! My hair is always so soft and I love that she goes to workshops for hair stylists to keep up to date. The salon itself is very nice and clean, I think they remodeled last year if I remember correctly. The salon is split in 2 with the women/hair salon on one side and the men/barber shop on the other side. They have a nail tech now, but I've never used that service. I would definitely recommend The Total Package to anyone looking for a new stylist in Hayward. All of the stylists I've seen are really good, but I've just always had Lori. When I left the salon, it was shiny, straight, and well-conditioned. She is the sweetest, down to earth person ever. I felt completely comfortable, so comfortably that I really let her do whatever to my hair. She washed it (best massage ever) and really took her time with everything. I just went in for a flat iron switch was bone straight and decided I wanted a trim. Eventually I told her I wanted layers and she delivered I will be back to get my hair dyed because I finally found a hair stylist that I trust and hasn't taken advantage of me too. I absolutely LOVE this salon! I went in earlier this week for a mani/pedi appointment from a package I purchased on Groupon. Ashly our manicurist did a fantastic job on both my nails and my mom's. After talking with her throughout the our appointment, my mom made an appointment to come back and see her to get some highlights. Today was my mom's hair appointment. Geez where do I even start?! I absolutely loved this place. First I called on a Thursday and sadly they were my third location (wish it was my first), but they were the ones to say they could fit me in on the same day. I showed up and was properly greeted and started ON TIME, yaaasss! Had a pretty nice wash by Vanessa, then Gina did my cornrows. I never really know what I like but I know what I don't like because I've had so many bad experiences it seems. I originally wanted 4 braids because I had been conditioned to think anything more on my thick hair was annoying and to much. But holy crap she showed me a pic that had about eight braids which I loved and immediately felt some type of way (positive of course) and agreed to her suggestion. I asked for the jewels last minute because I've never had them before and she asked her daughter Star to pick some up since she was at the beauty supply store anyways. I received nothing but compliments on the health and thickness of my hair, but I also loved that she was honest in saying I need a trim which I will do on my next visit back for a flat iron. They have great parking, they're super nice, and they seem like they genuinely care. I think they are a great addition to the Hayward downtown community!!! I went here for a manicure and pedicure after seeing their deal on Groupon. If you purchased one, don't waste your time and/or money!! I called to make an appointment for 2 and there was only 1 guy working on us... we were there 2.5 hrs on a Friday night... what a waste of time. They didn't even have a real pedicure chair, he stuck our feet in a tub of water (cold) over a foot massager... really?! A day later and the nail polish was chipping. Horrible place for nail... My WORST stylist experience! I'll make this simple and to the point: - I found this salon on Yelp and visited it twice -Jazmin was my stylist - On the 2nd visit, Jazmin admitted she forgot to base my scalp while relaxing my hair because she took a phone call - I ended up with a visible severe chemical burn on my forehead (yes my forehead) plus chemica burnsl to my nape and temple - She failed to relay to me that she was NOT capable of doing a tapered cut - Thanks to the stylist there that day that was nice enough to assist Jazmin with a tapered cut (Jazmin still managed to cut it uneven). - I was charged full price (after chemical burns and enduring 2 hours of her lack of skill) - The back of my hair was/is over processed and I experienced severe breakage afterwards My advice: Total Package is a nice salon overall, but do be wary of working with Jazmin. I'm not saying she's a horrible stylist, but she definitely lacks the skills of a well-rounded, attentive beautician. read more

I came here on a whim trying to find a place to put in some extensions. Every other salon I had been to would just tell me "no your hair is too short, it won't work", but I could not take NO for an answer. Prom was the next day and it was a hair emergency. She wasn't even supposed to come to the salon until 1p.m. but she came just for me. She washed my hair and got right to work with my extensions. They came out beautifully and she was so nice and friendly. She even offered for me to pay less than what she normally does, but we gave her a huge tip because it was well worth it. Cherie offered to do my updo for me for only $30 and OMG, she did such a beautiful job, everyone in the salon was stunned. I would describe my hair type as challenging: dry, thick, & coily--classic 4c & almost settled with my hair being adverse to straightening treatments due to prior botched hair press treatments. Jazmin is awesome. She can do edgy styles, but can also take care of your grandma with the attention to the traditional styles as well. For me, I got a great haircut in NYC a while back and wanted to find a salon near home that could maintain it. It's fly. And Jazmin not only took care of it, she has helped develop it into my own signature style. She is great with conditioning. My hair is in tip-top shape. She does great bone-straight press n' curls, perfect for us ladies who don't want to go with relaxers, and want flexibility between straight and natural styles. But even better than her cutting and styling abilities, her PERSONALITY is a winner. She listens. All I can say is, be a good customer. Show up on time as she will put in full effort to get you out on time for YOUR events. And give her time to do her work. It's worth it. Though the press n curl was perfect and the haircut was awesome...she works with the barbers on the other side as well... I asked about the Brazillian Blowout. She put me at ease, and the next visit I gave it a try. I've traveled all weekend, sweating, swimming, steamroom, windblown, raining...my hair is STILL straight and easy to manage! I love love love Brittany! Relocating from LA and trying to find people out in the Bay to do hair like they do was not happening!! That is until I came across Brittany. I wear my hair natural ( no relaxer) and she does it perfect everytime! I am so comfortable with her, it has gotten to the point where I say do whatever you want! Worst coloring experience of my life here! I don't remember her name as this experience was awhile ago but she scraped my scalp with her nails while washing my hair and fighting on the phone with her mom... my scalp was hurt from the vigorous wash! She proceeded to put the wrong color in the wrong places, I feel like she poisoned my scalp! I had to ask to use the hood dryer to dry the damp ugly hair she was going to send me out with!
