Unfortunately after a few haircuts, Jennifer gave me one of the worst haircuts I've ever gotten--ever. As soon as I arrived I knew something was off. She seemed distracted and preoccupied. I watched her be 10 minutes late for my appointment while she sat in a chair on her phone. I don't mind people being a little late if they're with another client, or even if I end up with a good cut, but this ended with an awful haircut. I'm growing my hair out and asked for the least possible amount trimmed to promote growth. We had been working on this for over a year. I didn't want any changes to shape. She trimmed it dry, which is supposed to be the majority of the haircut, then washed and dried under the dryer. They put an excessive amount of product in my thin hair, which weighed it down heavily, then after drying with this she stretched out my curls to trim and it ended up absurdly uneven. The layers were drastic on one side, and she cut off an obscene amount of healthy hair without telling me she was completely changing the shape. It will take forever to grow this out, and now I have one side of curls that balls up on one side. She tried to justify it as "the right shape for a grow out," however we did not discuss that and I wouldn't have consented. I reached out for a refund and she wanted me to travel an hour back to the salon to try to fix it. She's never touching my hair again. She didn't respond to my second request for a refund. read more

A friend recommended me to this salon. She learned a lot about caring for her curls in a natural way. I was then inspired to make an appointment after reading the website and the styling technique for obtaining or maintaining curls naturally. Was impressed with the description and ability to work with 4c hair. Had to send pictures of my current hair, inspirational hairstyle, and what hair products used. I followed directions and uploaded the required photos and completed the lengthy application. I added notes of what my hair goals were. I wrote twist out look or a style that requires minimal care after washing. I was extremely disappointed with Jennifer's lack of hair knowledge. I had 6 braids so she took them out. Immediately, she could identify my hair and determine if she had experience and if her product would obtain the curls or twist out look I was seeking. After washing my hair and putting product on it, she then had me go under the dryer for a few minutes! I knew I was doomed and would NOT achieve the look of twist outs without using a comb and taking the time ( maybe an hour) to create the twist. She just put me under the dryer! It was either laziness or lack of knowledge or both... She then tried to say my hair was too short. She knew the length of my hair while washing and the look I wanted to achieve I wasted $75 to have my hair look unstylish. When "done" my hair was an Afro with waves and no curls! Duh! 4C hair can't be styled like 1, 2, or 3 hair type! I was bamboozled! If you have 4C hair, reconsider, you won't be pleased I unfortunately gave her a tip since she didn't charge me $180 as initially set on her website. Her website mentions she is a perfectionist... when I saw two spelling errors on the website I should have known there isn't anything perfectionist about her website or styling 4c hair. Happy for those who were able to achieve the hairstyle they were seeking. I wasn't that fortunate. read more

Meticulous, thorough and friendly! I went in for a curly cut for my wavy/curly hair, and Jennifer provided the best hair cut I've ever had. I had let her know that I was looking for more volume and to clean up the ends to make my scraggly hair more healthy. However, I didn't want to sacrifice too much length since I'm getting married in a few months. Jennifer listened to every request and delivered beautifully! She was very careful not to take more length than I was comfortable with, and detailed all of my options at every step of the cut. Jennifer is amazing! The salon is beautiful and relaxing. I had my first appointment with her today after being terrified to cut my curly hair for two years. My last cut I left in tears after thinning shears and a relaxer was used. I spent a lot of time searching for a new stylist and kept coming back to Jennifer's website so I knew I needed to just schedule with her. Somehow I made a mistake and my appointment was for the wrong day, I drove two hours with an infant, my husband took two days off work and we stayed at a hotel before even knowing it was the day after what I thought. Jennifer switched appointments around and made it happen for me. I arrived and was welcomed with the offer of beverages or snacks. She explained everything she was doing so well and her assistant Maya did so great on my wash and explaining noodling and wash techniques, my scalp felt amazing after. I did a luxury deep condition and am glad I did. She again offered a beverage so I accepted and had a sparkling wine. This was the first time I've been away from my baby for more than 45 minutes since she was born and I felt so relaxed and pampered. I don't think I've ever come away from a hair appointment feeling as stoked as I did with Jennifer! It's usually a plastered-on smile and a personal goal to get home as soon as possible so I can wash my hair again and try to swallow the sadness - not this time. Jennifer walked me through EVERY step of the process, handing me a mirror to watch how she shampoos, conditions and styles wavy hair like mine. I was astounded at the end result - I never knew my hair could look this good! She was also a really good listener - she cut it all a little long at the beginning to make sure I'd be happy with the length, and at the end she checked in with me to see if I still wanted to go shorter (I did). She's also the first stylist I've ever been to that didn't razor my hair at the end to create a more "layered" effect - I have no idea what that actually does, but she didn't do it and my hair looks aaaaaaamazing. Jennifer is awesome! She was very nice about my unspecific request to take off as little as possible but enough to get rid of all the dead ends, and that is exactly what she did. I can now comb out my hair in the shower and then it miraculously stays untangled, instead of somehow making new knots at the speed of light. The cut itself is great, and she took the time to answer all my questions about curly hair and to teach me some tricks with names like "noodling", which has the benefit of actually making nice curls and ALSO having a super fun name.
