I usually love to write 4+star reviews only but as much as I wanted to write a 4 or even 5 star review for the Tox, I hesitated to do so... only because I felt that the service was defiantly not as attentive. They did not and have not taken the time to know if I'm happy after treatment and I felt more pressure by the receptionist to book another appointment. And to buy more sessions which they charge in advance, and they do not let you cancel or reschedule or to reimburse in the event you have an emergency which I feel very nervous about. I found out by an email I received after I confirmed my appointment. once the apportionment is confirmed they do not reimburse you if you have reschedule you loose your paid fee. The massage was not as expected and very painful I have to say that in the end I do not recommend and don't plan to return the massage therapist was not the problem if I may say she wasn't the problem at all. I think you should really notify the customers BEFORE hand that there is a 90% chance they will experience severe flu like symptoms for 72 hours plus. Not AFTER once you've gotten there money. I've been in and out of sleep had to cancel all my appointments coughing non stop having horrible migraines and after doing my research online I found out this method is extremely toxic to the body and can actually make it worse. Of course the company is going to write a response to make themselves look better but do yourselves a favor and save you're self the 165 dollars. Not worth the pain. First off, I received such a warm welcome from the front desk staff and was given a detailed introduction on what to expect and all of the tools and products they would be using for my treatment. Very disappointed. I've had many lymphatic drainage massages before and this was not that. I don't know what this was, but I do know I am swollen all over and feel like crap. My review is specific to their Costa Mesa location. Their communication when booking my appointment should have tipped me off, as they needed to change my appointment for no apparent reason and their text communication to do so - was extremely confusing and disjointed. I was told when I arrived to call or text. I arrived 10 mins early (bc we initially said my appt was at 1, but then they changed it again to 115pm). No one answered. I waited around until my appt time and saw a girl walking up, who appeared to be on break and finally let me in. I was disappointed to see that there were only black curtains separating "rooms" and the music playing was SUPER loud and not the slightest relaxing. Also, each room came equipped with an overhead light that was directly overhead and glaring into your eyes the entire time. My massage therapist was nice enough, however it was obvious from start to finish that she was new. In fact I would question if she was actually trained. She was extremely rough. SO ROUGH that I was holding onto the table to brace myself. Her motions and methodology were very abrupt and downright painful. When she got to my abdominal area, multiple times I told her I was going to throw up. She laughed nervously. I think she tried to ease up, but didn't appear to. (To note, my entire stomach is very swollen and extremely painful to the touch). By this point I was looking for a way to leave. She asked me to roll over and there was no face cradle. No bolster for your knees and no face cradle. When I asked about the face cradle she told me "our CEO doesn't believe in them". Given that I am in the industry, I know thats absolute insanity and told her I was done and ready to leave. The girl at the front let me know she couldn't give me my money back but gave me a "glow glove" that looks like it would like rip your skin off to use it. I won't be returning and question all the legitimacy in advertising I've seen on social media regarding this business. read more

This is definitely a modern massage parlor. Instead of being in your own closed off room they have curtains around the bed. You can definitely hear other people talking about their massages as well as hear their massages being performed. It is a very tight fit and the beds and lobby all share one room. The music is not at all spa massage relaxing, it is more current and edgy. I actually sang along to a few of the songs. With that being said, the massage felt amazing. I just think they could definitely up their privacy ESPECIALLY with how much they charge. If you are looking for a spa day, this probably isn't the place for you. read more

I had one massage here and it was good. I'm not crazy about the setup, with only curtains separating you from other people getting massages. I also became very ill for days afterwards - I guess I was releasing a lot of toxins, but no one told me that might happen. The biggest problem I have is how difficult it is to make an appointment here which is surprising since this is a new business. They rarely answer the phone and are very slow to respond to voicemail messages. They dont seem to want to work past 5:30pm during the week, and I can't get there that early because I work. Multiple calls later and I still couldnt secure a weekend appointment. I guess they don't want my business. I give up. (If they do want customers, they need to invest in an online appointment system and be more flexible with their hours.) read more

I have had a few lymphatic massages and this one was hands down my favorite. The technique that is used is unlike any other and the suction machine used is amazing. It really does feel like the fluid is being sucked out. They added a face mask which just help me to relax into the treatment and was a lovely added bonus! This spa will overcharge you and then tell you you cannot book with them anymore. I canceled the same day due to a family emergency. I was ok paying the full price of $319 but then they said they would charge an additional $110 for a rescheduling fee... although I never asked to reschedule. So I paid $429 for a session that I couldn't make. This was wrong and unfair so I was told that if I don't get charged the extra $110, I could never book there again. They also still owe me a refund from when they had to cancel me weeks ago due to the massage therapist being sick. Very poor policies and charging practices. read more

DO NOT GO HERE DUE TO TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BOOKING ISSUES. Tox LA Melrose has poor customer service. I booked an appointment weeks ago and confirmed via the email they sent the day prior, as well as noted accurately in the app, however upon arrival they said they didn't have my appointment on file and there was nothing they could do about it. They made me send various types of proof that the appointment was booked and only said it must be a glitch on their side. They said a manager would call, days later that still hadn't happened. I've had to call them multiple times about refunding the service that they already charged me for even though it never occurred, and still have no resolution. When I was there recently, a woman was upset as they mishandled her appointment as well and she left without any resolution as I did. Do not recommend, they will charge your credit card for services not rendered and never respond to your inquiries. Zero stars. read more

It was my first experience doing a lymphatic drainage massage at Tox LA! Didn't know what to expect but I LOVED it. I loved it so much that I booked another appointment in 2 weeks! The customer service was great and made me feel welcomed. They are very strict with following the COVID-19 safety protocols, which I appreciated. Very clean inside and masks were worn the entire time. At this time, there is no waiting room so you have to wait in the car until they text you when it's time to come inside for your appointment. After going to the Tox for several years, just about once a week, I was sent a very unprofessional email that stated "I was not welcomed back there due to something I had said". Mind you I have no idea what it is plus I have been extremely friendly with the young lady who does my lymphatic massage and I adore her. She did need to leave towards the beginning of our last session and a lady I have never had before took over, so I'm not sure if she was the one since I am very comfortable and open with the prior lady and the one before that who moved and I still am in touch with. I guess my point is they are very unprofessional, treated a client who has spent years there and lots of money with no grace and never let me know what happened before getting an extremely rude letter. On that note I would tell people to NOT go there due to there not giving me a chance to know what happened and then just throwing me out. The owner and whoever runs these places are rude and do not know how to treat clients properly. So my opinion would be stay away they can throw you out anytime for whatever they want with no conversation transpired. Awful behavior read more

This business has not reached out numerous times to see what they could do to make me happy -- instead, they posted a public response to my review stating facts that aren't true. I did not write a long description of my experience to promote other businesses -- instead, I was comparing this business to ones that are, based on my experience, far superior. I am unable to remove the parts about other businesses from my original review, but have amended the review I left on Google to exclude them. If you are serious about how great your place is or improving customer service for your business, you might take some time to challenge yourself and accept the honesty on an unhappy customer. Clearly, my experience of your services weren't as positive as the ones before it, and I don't doubt many future clients may feel the same. People tend to trust reviews from other customers as much as personal recommendations. This means it's important to keep a close eye on what previous customers say about you on review sites, social media, or directory listings. I came here and enjoyed the actual massage. The space is pretty and the staff was nice. However I felt very tired afterward and nauseous the evening after my treatment. I drank tons of water and ate clean like they said to. The following day I threw up. I'm sure it was a result of getting toxins literally out of my body but I think they could do a better job of warning people that it's possible to not feel *aMaZinG* after lymphatic drainage like they market on their socials.
