Look what a stellar job they did with the gift wrap!!

What a nice toy store! Something for every kid at this store. Amazing, varied selection. Looking so nice after their remodel. We come here when allowance money builds up :)

This is like the Amazon of toy stores! There are so many toys here, many new toys that you cannot find anywhere else. They have a large selection of Legos. Also, puzzles, stuffed animals, craft kits and more. This is a great toy store for people of all ages to enjoy. I like how there is also sort of a seasonal section with summer items (goggles, pool floats, etc) and camp items (journals, postcard). The prices seem very reasonable. The store is quite large and clean despite so much merchandise. The employees were very friendly and went around asking if anyone needed assistance more than once. There is even a rocket ride kids can ride free of charge.

Spring in Dallas sure beats spring in Chicago so I would have preferred to spent our entire long weekend there outdoors, but if it was up to my children they would have opted for every spare moment at The Toy Maven. I myself was impressed to see that The Toy Maven had all of my children's absolute favorite toys- everything from Thomas the train, Calico Critters, all sorts of Star Wars toys, arts & crafts galore and so on. My 5 and 3 yr olds went around the store picking out their bday gifts for the next 89 years. I didn't have the heart to tell them they'd be over toys in the next 3-5 years unless of course they take after their dad who still has an impressive collection of Star Wars toys. He too was impressed w/ The Toy Maven. While toy shopping is always fun, you can actually play there too. My Thomas obsessed boy was in heaven w/ their 2 impressive train tables (one Brio and the other Thomas). He was having train table withdrawl while visiting his grandparents so felt right at home here. Perhaps he felt a bit too much at home since he refused to share the toys and our last trip there ended w/ us carrying out a tantruming 3 yr old. Something tells me not the first (or last) tantrum to be thrown at The Toy Maven. My 5 yr old girl was happy w/ the calico critter table and a giant bean bag chair in front of the books where she happily read and looked at toys. A quick comparison found that the toys here are a bit more expensive than what you'll find at the nearby Toys R Us or online on amazon, but to be expected at any local toy store. And the experience (tantrum or not) of shopping at this lovely store is worth a bit more.

Had to find a birthday gift for my 5yr old niece so I went for the first time to the store and it did not disappoint at all! Great selection of toys, and it just made me feel like a little kid. Glad I got to shop at a local toy store and see all the kids buying actual toys, not just ipads/tablets. Also, they wrapped the gifts free of charge!

Awesome! Now I don't have to rely on other people in order to get the Gnome I really want.

I know what you're saying. "Omigod! Puzzle Zoo is the best toy store ever!" but you, my friend, are so wrong! My suggestion to you is that the next time you're thinking about going to Puzzle Zoo, instead head a little further down the road to The Toy Maven at Preston and Royal. Sure, its not as well organized and it really doesn't have any ironic little action figures or Teddy Ruxbin collectibles; but that's because it's not some hipster novelty shop aimed at Millenials suffering from nostalgia. No, this is a real toy store. It's chaotic, a little cramped, and unabashedly childish. Exactly what a toy store should be. I would make a list of highlights but they really have a bit of everything here: Books, science kits, puzzles, craft kits, bath toys, and a huge wall of board games. And the staff was very nice and seemed eager to help, even though we were 3 grown men with no kids manhandling coloring books and finger puppets. Now that's customer service! I highly recommend you check it out for yourself.

Gift wrapped the packages so they fit in my motorcycle trunk.

Considering the part of Dallas it's in, it feels like a secret. It's sort of tucked away and feels very safe. We happened upon Camp looking for some after Christmas sales. It's a large, well located store. No shortage of interesting toys and Gund stuffed animals. Need an attachable bike horn with 12 different options? They've got it! Want to have that adorable handwriting remembered? They will embroider it. The employees were nice and answered endless questions from my kids. The cashier tried to explain the other features of the store. They have Meow Wolf type of experiences and private birthday party area. You pay for admission and then walk through the setup. It wasn't open during our visit but it's the part of the store that faces the parking lot. It was a beautiful day so we popped outside to play after shopping.

My 5 year old & younger nieces & nephews all found it equally enjoyable. They have two gift shops. One when you first walk in that has a variety of Disney & non Disney gifts & souvenirs & one that you're led into after the camp is over with Disney animated gifts. They have everything from t-shirts to games & jewelry. The prices for some of the items were decent. The staff were very friendly. The location of the place is awesome. There's so many food options literally right outside with a small greenery area for play.

The first time I went there, it was admittedly a bit overwhelming as it took me an hour or so just to get a grasp on the lay of the land. DVT really shines with vintage Star Wars and GI Joe '70s and '80s figures, vehicles, and playsets - both loose, on card and in box. It's just as much of an art gallery as it is a retail business. DTV has a dedicated room of officially graded toys if you're looking very top of the line, several thousand dollars in value. And it also has loose complete Star Wars figures you can buy for $24.99, depending on the character. I really enjoy re-releases of my favorite toys growing up, and often prefer commemorative editions so I can enjoy the nostalgia without the heavy financial investment, and DVT has good finds of later releases. There's so much variety. If you don't prefer figures, you might score an item like the Yoda puppet from Empire Strikes Back or other merchandise you don't see all the time. While DVT makes its high-value offerings visible, you might very well dig up some treasure in the aisles as you browse. This past weekend, I came across the Hot Toys Jack Nicholson '89 Joker 1/6 scale figure - an undeniable Grail. It was just hanging out in the Batman section on the shelf with the rest. I forced myself not to look in the box and walk away as I've never seen it in person - I knew I would fall in love. It's $500 I don't have to explain to my wife! While I have purchased a few things from DTV, I am not familiar with the experience of selling a collection there. In the late 90s/early 2000s, I sold many of my old figures to a similar establishment and really regret it. What I will say is that Shaun and his staff are readily available for advice and to bounce ideas off of, and so, if you want to sell, it's definitely worth consulting with them. Just know you very well could get a third of what you perceive your collection to be worth - and that's anywhere. These businesses need to eat and pay bills just like the rest of us! If you haven't been to this nostalgia museum, take some time to relax, know your spending limits before walking in, and enjoy. May the Force Be With You!

They have an excellent array of new toy collectibles, vintage toys, parts, grab bags, MOC, video games, reissues, comics, lunchboxes, etc... etc... One thing that really pleases me about this place is that since I started going there a few years ago, they've expanded their girl-centric vintage toys. I've purchased many pink box Barbies from them for my collection. I feel like their prices are fair when you compare costs to the same items on eBay which is kind of exploitative to sellers anyway. I haven't sold anything to DVT yet, but I feel like I could trust that they would be fair. I think it's important to understand what DVT specializes in and not walk in expecting to sell them just anything and get a pretty penny for it. They do a great job of organizing and displaying everything as well and they keep their social media updated daily with new merchandise. They also have celebrity meet and greets too which is fun and they also have the occasional sidewalk sale (so sad I missed the last one). I really can't understand why anyone would rate DVT low. It's an amazing place.
