The Toy Tree located in a strip mall in Plano is like a blast from the past for me, as well as an educational field trip on just some of the amazing toys for the young and old that you can pick up and touch for yourself. A great friend of mine brought me here last month as I was about to leave to go back home, and she showed me some of the fidget toys she had bought for herself. I instantly had to have a few of them and fortunately, they had them in stock. There is something so amazing about picking up what you think you wish to purchase and be able to hold that item in your hand and the Toy Tree is one such place to have this connection. The young lady who helped us was amazing and super friendly and helpful. This has the feel of a store that has been in someone's family line for a long time, although this is not based on fact. Don't own a KIDS toy store if you don't like KIDS. my daughter found an adorable wagon that I was going to buy and we were having fun putting in toys and books in it as we went around the store. (All that I was planning on purchasing) until she came up and said "are you planning on buying that bunny cause I can't sell that if it gets dirty" in the most rude tone. Well, it's inside a wagon? And yes I was until that comment! Not smart to be so unnecessarily mean to a pregnant customer with a toddler that has spent hundreds in your store in the past. Came in today with my MIL for Easter basket toys and we were greeted immediately by the owner, Debbie. She was so sweet!!! She was very knowledgeable and she knows her toys. I asked if she had any monkeys because my daughter LOVES LOVES monkeys and this store had every animal you can think of in stuffed animal from and by multiple famous brands. Who doesn't love Jellycat stuffies? My son is very particular about his toys since he has special needs but the owner had the perfect toy for him also. This store has it all folks! When we first visited this place it truly felt like a magic! My family and I went for Jellycats and sensory toys for our toddler and we were not disappointed. However after going back this past week a lot has changed. There is a new section in the store just for jellycat however the selection was terrible. No varity. While looking I noticed an employee was hovering and watching, very clearly making sure I wasn't stealing. I understand loss prevention is important but there's a way to do it with some discretion. There is not one time i have been in this store when the owner (dark haired older woman) has been pushy officious and rude. She has zero concept of how to treat customers with courtesy and friendliness. She seems to have a chip on her shoulder about being a small business owner. Don't like your customers.? Then shut your damn doors and go out of business. There are numerous far better toy stores in dfw that have a better selection, better prices and where you don't get treated like inconvenient garbage. Today, Debbie Sanders, the store owner, approached my nanny and toddlers huffing and puffing about how another child dismantled the toy train set my son had just walked up to. She said, "People forget this is not a playground--this is a place of business. I will have [employee name] reassemble this. Or a two-year-old can do it." The message to my nanny was clear: You are not welcome here. I called Debbie to find out what happened as my suspicion was that this had to have been a misunderstanding. I was astonished as she not only verified but DOUBLED DOWN on her stance, making it clear she does not welcome children playing in the store. She was perplexed that I disagreed. I can understand if my child was running around ransacking displays, but my son plays quietly. I explained that their visits lead directly to my purchases when I come in on the weekends, and I prefer supporting her store over Amazon. She ended up telling me that I was welcome to continue shopping at Amazon and should take my children to Play Street Museum instead. I am disheartened because until today, the Toy Tree was a beloved stop for my family after Little Gym classes and I frequently pop in after my weekend workouts to purchase the toys my nanny suggested during the week. Today, Debbie made it clear she doesn't value our business or the children who visit her store. Debbie, since you expressed appreciation for my feedback during our phone conversation today, here's a few more thoughts that came to mind after we hung up: 1. You can put the train set away if it bothers you that children play with it. 2.) Or you could even just place a sign on the door that says, "Paying Adults Only." 3.) A simple apology today for the way you made us feel would have prevented this review, secured my family's continued business, and secured the free word-of-mouth marketing you've been getting from me since you first opened your doors. read more

What a great toy store right by my new grocery store HEB! The toy tree has just about everything I need for my kids. I bought a scooter and beautiful doll for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She was thrilled. The store staff even wrapped it free! I have been several times since and each time I see toys I didn't see the time before so they keep it exciting to just wander around. They have a craft area where the owner said they have kids craft time but she used it to show me how some of her craft kits work. Of course, I bought two for rainy days.
