The main clinician on staff yawned through our entire assessment and seemed half asleep.

My intake paperwork reflected that. During the assessment, I was asked to revisit past traumas and go through my full medication history in detail. At the end, I was told therapy is not regularly offered, and despite my history showing that an entire class of antidepressants had not worked for me, Asia said she would prescribe within that same class because "she didn't know me." No prior medical records were requested. The GeneSight test advertised on their site was never mentioned or offered. Instead, I was sent home with a self-administered ADHD assessment to diagnose myself. Had I known therapy wasn't available, I would have canceled before the appointment -- not after reliving my trauma. I completed the take-home test and returned it as requested, then canceled my follow-up because I no longer felt safe or respected in this care relationship. Asia followed up about the cancellation, so I asked about my results. She said she could still provide them -- but six days later, after I followed up on June 8th, I was told she'd send them "when she got around to it." Those results were already part of a scheduled appointment I paid for. Withholding them after I canceled felt retaliatory and like a money grab. This experience made an already difficult process feel more discouraging and retraumatizing. Advocate for yourself early -- you don't have to wait to trust your instincts about your care.

I have been in and out of therapy since age 5 with multiple Psychologists but never have I received such empathy. She will make you comfortable enough to open up about anything, almost as though you are speaking to your best friend. I have Medicare and I have found it very hard to find any competent Dr. who takes my insurance. I find this a blessing as I started seeing her when I had United Healthcare. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking any kind of emotional health issues or simply life coaching which she is wonderful with as well. She also referred me to my current Psychiatrist whom I have been seeing regularly for 13 years as well. There is nothing she will do in order to make her clients feel like they are top priority, which is a big self esteem booster. She also treats children and adolescents. It seems that no one is unimportant in her eyes which goes a long way especially if you suffer from trust and abandonment issues. I would and will continue to see her as long as she is in practice. There is no reason to hurt or keep things stuffed inside when there is someone who genuinely cares about all her clients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help Dr. Bishop (if you see this haha)

It's been a few years since I'm seen Dr. Cynthia Mealer, but I have to leave this review to be at…read morepeace. Dr. Mealer was not a horrible therapist, but also not the best. We got along fine and she was very personable. The lingering memory for me was the early morning phone call I got from her. The previous evening I found out that my son had been sockually abused by my step-father. (He was not allowed to be alone with my boys. It's a long story how he got access.) Needing support, I contacted Dr. Mealer. I had to leave a message and didn't hear back until the next morning. In that phone call Dr. Mealer, knowing that my step-dad had also sockually abused me, told me NOT to report the sockual abuse. She told me that I didn't want my step-dad to have to be a registered socks offender and all that. What? I was so confused! He is a pedphle and should be in prison and a registered socks offender! Why would I not want that? Not to mention that she is a mandatory reporter! She is required by law to report abuse and not only was she not going to report it, she told me not to report it. Thankfully I was in an IOP program at the time and my therapist there said that if I didn't report the sockual abuse, he would. I texted Dr. Mealer that I was uncomfortable not reporting the sockual abuse of my young son. At that point she did say to report it if I wanted to. Yes, with the support of my therapist at IOP I did report it! In the crisis at the time I dropped the ball and failed to report Dr. Mealer to the appropriate authorities for telling me not to report the abuse when she is a mandatory reporter. Due to her serious lack of judgement in this situation, I cannot ever recommend Dr. Mealer as a therapist.

She's knowledgeable, takes the time to understand where I am, and adjusts to meet me in that space.
