Came here with my aunt because we wanted a quick bite and this bar turned out to have good food here too! It was a nice and chill spot.

I've finally made it to the trap for the first time I know, I know.... I've been meaning to check this place out for several years now but it's over a 30 min drive from where I live. It's wild that the floor is slanted the way it is but it's give the place some charm and different and no you want loose you balance or fall unless you are 2 sheets in the wind. Lol! The trap is under new management and there is a nice outdoor patio with plenty of space especially if you want to enjoy those summer nights There is a wide drink selection of beers and a few selections of wine. There is limited parking but you can park at the school after hours. The service was fantastic and the bartender was so friendly had small talk and made sure everyone is taken care of. My friend and I had a great time and u will definitely come back to meet up with friends. What a great way to enjoy New Year's Eve 2024 really to walk into 2025. Happy new Year 2025 everyone and see you on Yelp! :)

Went on Karaoke night and had a blast. Adam and Sarah (the bartenders) had their birthday as well, so it was a crazy time. Modelos were great, the smash burger, I can't even describe how good it was, the fries had so many it was damn near bottomless. Overall, the environment felt homey and chill, would definitely recommend coming here. Everyone here treats everyone like family.

I finally came here yesterday Sunday afternoon to have some girl time. The Trap exceeded my expectations. The beer was cold and delicious, and the patio was so chill. Everyone was so friendly, it feels like a home away from home.

It's been a while since I reviewed The Trap, so it seems like a good time for an update. This old relic survived the pandemic, the construction of a school next door, an unfriendly school owner, and the transition to new ownership. I think it's safe to say it will be with us for a few more years. The new owner have been a positive influence on the place. They've done some much needed renovations to the bathrooms, the back patio, and installed taps! That's right, the finally have draft beer. There's also some dart boards outside, new picnic tables, a new fence, and a food truck that's usually parked outside. They managed to do all that and preserve the local dive bar feel to the place. It's still a bit run down, unpretentious, and a cool place to stop for a cold one... or two... Who's counting!

Our 2nd stop for a new years beverage. The trap is a local watering hole under new ownership. As janky as ever with a new patio with heat lamps everywhere. The floor is still slanted so that hasn't changed. They have an "almost permanent taco truck, lots of pool tables and if you're in luck live music

Ok, The Trap has won my heart. It's our now go to spot and we know some of the locals by name. I even joined their pool league. Sarah is the best and honestly can't complain about any of the other bartenders either. They have their own food trailer that serves bomb food at a decent price. I'm obsessed with their BLTA, I've even considered getting it from DoorDash but decided to make the short drive and hang out instead. They also have daily specials like $5 mustard dog Wednesdays or fish and chip Fridays. Their "Trappy hour" is also pretty decent too.

They were not able to operate their food truck on this particular day but were nice enough to let us bring our own.

The Trap is a really great neighborhood bar and the oldest bar in Sacramento. It's got a very cute quirkiness, like the fact that it's next door to an elementary school They don't have hard alcohol yet just beer, seltzers, cider and wine. They are very good about having different events pretty much every day of the week and advertise them well. I like going on Sundays for trivia. I'll have to try more of their newer food options but the onion rings were good. Everyone I've met there has been friendly and you get a good sense of community.

This is what you hope for in a dive bar. Dive-y in all the great ways. We had smoked wings. One of the best we have had! And check out our post, we do a lot of wings. Clean, funky, responsive and fun. Would come back when in the area. If I lived here this would be my go-to bar, for sure!!!!

The trap is your local dive but super chill. It's a little run down but that's part of the charm. They have 2 pool tables but we've never had a problem snagging one. They do have a 2 game limit if there are people waiting. Each game is a $1. They also have 4 steel tip dart boards that are free to play. Drinks are relatively cheap, Coronas are only $5 which is a few bucks cheaper than most places. Service can be hit or miss. The employees are nice but they often leave the bar and we get left waiting for awhile sometimes for drinks.

Been meaning to come here for the past year or two and finally found myself out in the pocket. Bartender is super chill and welcoming. Found out they have really amazing food. The wings sauce was great and the quesadilla was yummy, loved their verde sauce. Its pretty small inside but somehow my boyfriends pool league and me were all comfortable. Highly reccomend this spot, loved the porter.

With authentic flavors and food items, there's not many like it around town. Bodega serves up food from the Caribbean Islands. One of their most popular dishes is their jerk chicken. They have this both as a chicken wing appetizer and as a plated dinner. I personally really enjoy white meat when it comes to chicken and the dinner plate was leg and thigh so I opted to go with the wing appetizer. My only complaint about it was its size. I thought it could have had more wings as I thoroughly enjoyed each one with the jerk sauce I added to it. The wings were very crisp on the outside and full of flavor. Adding the jerk sauce or their house made hot sauces enhanced the flavor even more. I could really see myself coming just for these wings! I also had the Cubano sandwich. This hot, pressed sandwich has ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard. It's a popular item that also is bursting with flavor. The combination of all the ingredients was mouthwatering. It comes with a side of fries to round out the meal. Service at Bodega was very nice. We found the servers to be very patient with us and the food came out reasonably. I was specifically there for a birthday party where we had cake being served from outside the restaurant. Bodega has a cake cutting charge, but seeing our tiny cake they waived it for us! The customers definitely feel like it's a mostly locals kind of place-a true neighborhood hidden gem. They do have a bar area with two TVs-this is where we sat for our quick drink. During this visit, I only had two drinks -King Kong La Xingona($6.00)-which is an IPA and it was really tasty. -Pomegranate Margarita($8.00)-a very fruit forward tasting drink that took the zip out of the tequila with a very pronounced pomegranate taste-I will order this again. Their happy hour food menu is pretty extensive but I didn't indulge,so will save that rating for the future. There I discovered The Pocket Club--a bar untouched by time and unbothered by pretense. The decor whispered of 1977--shuffleboard, portable fans, and the faint musk of bygone regrets. Behind the bar stood Janet, barkeep of grit and grace, whose no-nonsense charm and swift service are worth two stars all on their own. She does not suffer fools, nor does she tolerate tab openers who can't finish their drink. When she asked what I wanted, I replied, with the survival instincts of a duke in exile, "Beer." And dear reader, it arrived colder than diplomacy during the French Revolution. I suspect it was imported straight from the glacial plains of Antarctica. The price? An act of mercy. The beer nuts? First impression - yes, as others have mentioned, the parking is not close or easy to find. You have to drive all the way around the hotel, then locate a valet to open a gate so that you can park. Our table had the ahi nachos which they all reported as very good (I don't eat raw seafood, so I did not try it). We also ordered the crab cakes which were very small, and the sauce on top was VERY spicy. I love crab cakes but these were definitely not the best we've ever had. One of our guests said he enjoyed his steak and scallops entree. Another guest had the fish and chips which he said was good. Next guest ordered an all steak meal which she said she enjoyed. I ordered the skinny margarita, which was not good and I did not continue to drink after the first few sips. I was really excited to order the lobster, as I hadn't had lobster in quite some time. It looked amazing when it arrived, but it was, sadly, overcooked, very difficult to cut and I gave up after a bite. The mashed potatoes and vegetables that accompanied it were good. For $73.00, however, I was greatly disappointed. Our server was hit or miss, and she did not check back on us to ask about our meals which was sadly unexpected. The location is very nice. We took a little stroll after dinner outside by the river. I perused some of the reviews and was astounded at one in particular. This patron gave her entire experience a ONE star because she chose to eat OUTSIDE, at a restaurant on A RIVER, and even though her party found the food and service to be divine, she insulted the restaurant with a one star review because she claimed her party was swarmed throughout their meal by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes that were OUTSIDE! Imagine! (Insert eye roll here!). Unbelievable! And soooo ridiculous! Why not ask to be moved inside when this "overwhelming swarm" first overcame your table and viciously attacked you? And yet this reviewer stayed outside and kept enduring the "mosquito monsoon". Good grief. How in the heck is the restaurant, which AGAIN, is located ON A RIVER, supposed to control those mosquitoes (which plague us ALL when we are outside in warmer weather)? And why claim to have suffered through your meal by these swarms of mosquitoes and not even think to ask to be moved inside? Anyway, it was sad to read such a ridiculous review. The dressing is light, the cheese is delicious. The pecans are sweet and crunchy. One of my favorite salads ever. Not sure why it's so delicious! 4/5 crab cakes. Small portions but the cakes were flaky and the crispy fried scallions were so good I added to everything. Server was King, he was excellent, taking care of all our needs and so polite. He offered to split our entrees for us when we were having a hard time deciding. 3/5 halibut was sadly not very well flavored. 3.5/5 the ribeye wasn't as good as previous times. A bit chewy and flat. 4.5/5 garlic mashed potatoes with the entree didn't taste very garlicky so we asked the server to double check it was garlic. He came out with a giant replacement serving for us which was awesome and perfect. He indicated the chef added extra garlic which was exactly what we needed. We got a free dessert for our bday girl. She got the mixed berry cobbler complete with a candle and I got a crème brulee. 4/5 crème brulee, one of the better desserts I've had there. We also got a free champagne bottle for her bday l which was a nice touch. Inside was dim and dark but always feels very private. The entrees were less tasty than in prior visits which was a bit disappointing but prior visits were much better than expected so the bar may have been set too high. Hoping the food will be back on point next time, but overall still a solid visit.
