My experience at Truck Master School was very disappointing due to the poor professionalism and organization, especially from the manager Diego. Although I did end up getting my Class A license, the process was far more stressful and expensive than it should have been. Throughout my time there, scheduling drive time was constantly delayed and disorganized, and important documents were often not prepared properly. Diego seems to lack organization and professionalism, which created a lot of unnecessary stress for students. Trying to text or get in contact with Diego was like talking to a brick wall. Communication was terrible, responses were delayed or nonexistent, and getting clear answers was almost impossible. When speaking with him, it often felt like everything you said went in one ear and straight out the other because concerns and issues were rarely properly addressed. You also cannot rely on him to make sure your paperwork is ready for DMV appointments. Many students, including people I personally spoke with, showed up to the DMV only to find out their paperwork had not been sent in correctly or on time, forcing them to reschedule and pay additional "expedite" fees. The condition of the trucks was another major issue. Many of them constantly broke down and had air leaks, which made it difficult to properly practice and perform air brake inspections. As for the skills training, the school only has two trucks and the yard is extremely overcrowded, so you are lucky if you even get a couple chances to practice maneuvers. The same issue applies to air brake practice. Overall, students do not get nearly enough hands-on time behind the wheel. Another problem was the DOT physical and drug test process. The school charges very high prices for them and strongly discourages students from going elsewhere. If you choose to do them somewhere else, they make you retake them through the school anyway. One of the biggest issues was the DMV appointment situation. The school advertises that students receive three DMV appointments, but they do not clearly explain that if you fail your first test, they charge an additional $400 for another appointment. This was never properly mentioned before signing up. In total, I ended up spending nearly $600 extra on hidden fees that were not clearly explained beforehand. To make things worse, a DMV examiner even mentioned that what the school is doing may be illegal because DMV appointments are often available within the same week. However, Diego tells students appointments are months away unless they pay the extra "expedite" fee. What bothered me most was the constant promises that were never kept. Diego often tells students things that he cannot deliver on. In my case, I was specifically promised 4 hours of drive time and even shook hands on it. That promise was one of the main reasons I agreed to pay for the expedite fee, but it never happened. To me, that says a lot about someone's character and professionalism. I also personally know students who became frustrated with the school and ended up leaving to continue their training at other CDL schools instead. Overall, the experience felt misleading, poorly managed, and unprofessional. In my opinion, the entire process felt like a money grab designed to push students into paying extra fees. I would not recommend this school and would strongly suggest looking into other CDL schools instead. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! & Diego is posting all the good reviews lmao you can tell lmao. Now, I can't speak for other locations but Diego at La puente was my only problem. You gotta be on your p's and Q's with that guy. First let me say if you're thinking of going there before you pay the money, walk out in the yard & talk to the guys they will tell you not to pay. You will wait 1Hr max to get 1 rep in the truck and that's it And getting in the truck is only after you completed a inspection and air brakes which is fair and very important to learn first, but Diego tells you upfront you have as many tries at the dmv but what he doesn't mention is if you fail you have to wait a month or if you want closer date it's an extra 400 dollars and that's even if your contract isn't up!! When you do get an appointment date, he'll schedule your 10rs road time 3 days before your test to learn to drive the truck, he'll have you write ur availability for a whole month only to not give you any of the availability you asked. I failed my test as a student with truck master as did 4 others that day that tested @ Fontana dmv, I failed because while doing my forward offset a testing truck with no examiner just a student driving a truck interfered with in my testing area and ultimately gave me bad setup for my reverse. The examiner gave me an option to postpone or continue on, not restart my skills she was super cool and gave me hella chances but ultimately I failed because I wasn't able to get it in at the angle I was in , your under a lot of pressure so your nerves are high , NOW I SAY ALL THAT TO SAY knowing the kinda person Diego is I felt he would charged me for the a retest and to rent the truck if I did so I took my L THAT DAY I can admit I'm not saying you can't learn and pass I'm just saying Diego is a sneaky guy, he even called me in the morning of my test saying I owed $200 for missed payment, when I asked him 5 months prior if I was payded up and he said "yup your good" but I was behind a payment but he'll do that to catch you off guard and luckily I had the money that day. I know it's a lot but I feel people should know this about Diego all the other instructors are amazing , ray , peter and the new guy who wears a hat are good guys and get you right. I know it's a business at the end of the day but you gotta be honest with your product. I give the instructors 5 stars but this office no stars. Oh btw they might respond saying "we have no record of you being a student" yeah ight lmao ohhh I passed today through Camino real , rented a truck and got some hrs best 500 dollars I ever spent!! The Brotherhood of the Truck. This describes my time I spent at The Truck Master School. From the time I secured my spot in the school and being welcomed by our leader Diego in his office with a firm handshake and the words Welcome to the Family Brotherhood. This spirit is evident when you step out into the yard and the busy bee hive activity of trucks being put through there paces and parts and mechanisms of the Truck being memorized by students as well as behind the wheel honing their skills anticipating the day when they get the call to put the rubber to the road and prove to the DMV they have the skills to be a commercial manual transmission class A driver. From my first day in the yard I felt welcome by my fellow students brought into the fold of the Brotherhood. All for one, one for all would be the energy flowing through the yard spearheaded by our extremely helpful, knowledgeable and sharp eyed instructors Chris and Oscar who tirelessly work with each student where there at in their process of learning learning the in's and outs of the Truck and the skills needed to progress to going out on the road under the nurturing tutelage of Mr. Reubens who guides you with nuances of pulling all the skills learned in the safe environment of the yard out into wilds of the open road. And the new skill of the delicate finesse and timing of double clutching. Mr. Reubens calm steady guidance is reassuring and gives you confidence to sift through the juggling act of keeping your Truck safe and steady straight ahead and getting it into gear at the right place at right time learning that timing is everything with mastering a manual transmission. I had a very great experience at this school at the la puente yard, I definitely recommend it. A few pro tips before going in. 1. Before you even sign up, Get your permit ASAP and study with the CDL study app (the one that looks like a steering wheel) 2. You will get a packet with all the info you need on passing the driver's test. Breath it, live it, read it. 3. Practice all your skills everyday no matter how good you think you are. 4. As soon as you are signed off on the reverse off set, see Diego or the head instructor for your site about getting a DMV appointment "immediately". DO NOT set an appointment on your own. 5. Before you are given road time, go to one of the static trucks and practice "dry shifting" with the engine off and parking brakes engaged. Learn how to shift from 5th, to 6th, 7th and 8th, and then practice coordinating with your feet, especially for down shifting. The trick is For Upshifting, its "half-clutch-neutral, half-clutch gear" For Downshifting, its "-half-Clutch-neutral, half-clutch-gas-gear" When you are finished, put the truck back in neutral with the splitter down. 6. Being on the road, especially if you have no experience with a manual transmission will be scary. You will feel like an elephant in a mice exhibit. It will be ok. As long as you do not damage anything, yourself or your instructor, it's a good run. Don't worry about people honking at you. 7. If you get nervous, do some deep breaths at a red light, have some water handy and some gum, (but don't leave a mess in the cab) Good luck and happy hunting! read more

I had a great experience at Truck Master I'm 51 years old and work full time, but I made the time to show up, put in the work, and learn--and the instructors were there to help me every step of the way. . A huge thank you to Don Ruben for helping me learn how to drive the truck and for sharing his knowledge and experience with me. Thank you to Johnny for really pushing me and working with me those last two days before my test, especially on my skills and air brakes. That extra time and instruction helped me feel prepared and made a big difference when test day came. My names Matthew and I needed a CDL and all other options were ridiculously expensive. I saw plenty of schools going for 4-5 thousand dollars and just didn't have the money for that. Truck Master was the best price I found and I got the good service I wanted as well. The instructors are all really cool people, always willing to help me dial in my skills and clean up where I was struggling, and overall the atmosphere is very nice and welcoming. Plenty of days I was offered pizza that someone brought or nice burgers because someone decided they wanted to grill up for everybody! Im happy with what I got and was able to get my license in about 2 months. Diego the operations manager is also a great guy and very cool to work with. He was always willing to help me get my path right and figure out what steps I needed to take to get my license asap and in general he's just a really nice guy. I got my CDL here!!!!! It took me 8 weeks to get my unrestricted license here at Truck Master. They have great customer service and very friendly. I did pay for a faster DMV appointment and got my money's worth. I have no excuses or complaints about the school. If you work hard without excuses you will achieve your goals. I will be honest. Some of the guys waist their time talking, and cuddling in a group making jokes. That is where you separate the little boys from the men. I received my certification here at Truck Master La Puente. I paid for the 6 months program and paid in full 2350.00. I took home my study material the day I signed up with the office manager Diego. I took my CDL permit test and passed my first time. A few days later I started the exterior inspections of the Truck and Oscar the instructor was there to pass me through.
