Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place. I'm giving two stars because I don't want to hurt a business, but my experience was disappointing. My first lesson was supposed to be two hours, but I spent 30-40 minutes of that inside their office. The instructor arrived at my house late--I understand needing to use the restroom, but after that, they lingered, making small talk with the front desk while I waited on my paid time. Not just once, but twice. We drove for about 20 minutes because I was instructed to go to their office. Then, the instructor spent another 15-20 minutes inside. After that, we drove 10 minutes again, made a loop, only for him to guide me back to the office--this time to talk to his boss about his paycheck... The final frustration? Ten minutes before my lesson was supposed to end, I was told to drive to the next student's house. Once we got there, I just sat for 10 minutes of my paid time, waiting for this other student--who was on their second lesson ever--to drive me home. In total, out of my paid two-hour lesson, I only had 40 minutes behind the wheel. I also tried calling for a refund but was sent to voicemail every time and never received a call back. I had high hopes for this school, but this was a very frustrating experience. read more

I recommend U-Drive. I called to inquire about their availability and pricing, the girl on the phone was quick to provide all the information I needed to know. I was surprised to hear they had availability for next day, which was a holiday. We were scheduled with Henry. The next day, Henry picked up my daughter and her experience was pleasant. My first driving lesson was with Aracely & she was a perfect way to start off, she spoke loud and clear & even though it was my first time, she took me on the freeway BUT she was very helpful and helped me when I needed it, her confidence helped me be confident. I wanted her for my last 2 lessons but unfortunately she went out of state for a family emergency, Then I got a really old man, he was nice but spoke very softly and had the windows down so it was very hard to understand him, i would sometimes miss turns bec of how softly he spoke, he also never really let me drive? like he was always breaking for me and never let me experience the break petal at all bec he was always doing it for me, or he would break me when turning & go very very slowly, causing people to honk behind us, That's the only complaint I had, always breaking for me or going very slow read more

Please use another service for the behind the wheel training. Greg is awful! When I was learning how to drive, my mom actually had to enroll me in this program twice because the first guy never taught me anything. He would be late to pick me up, would have me take him to run his errands and wait in the car for him (like getting coffee, chips and other snacks from the gas station or even going back to the main office for him to do paperwork) and would come back early. He told me that he would take me on the freeway and never did. Huge waste of time! The second time around, the trainer actually told me that my previous instructor had taught me wrong and specifically asked if I had Greg because of it. He was still late picking me up which cause my times to be shortened but he didn't have me running around town to sit and wait for him in the car while he bought snacks. This second instructor (can't remember his name) was definitely nicer and helped my driving a lot, but for the price you pay and the fact that they continue to have someone teach that is clearly known for his shortcomings, just go somewhere else. read more

U-drive driving school helped me a lot. I was a new driver and Henry was my instructor he taught me a lot of things I didn't know. One thing that helped me a lot was he had a lot of patience. If I did something wrong he'd correct me right away. I took 8 hours on behind the wheeling training and it helped me so much. During my last training he went over everything they ask you during your driver test multiple times. I took my last one the day before my test which helped me so much. The instructors give your time to other people. My instructor had me do things like pick up things at the store and such. Shouldn't I have been driving all the time? She also used my diving time for personal things like dropping off a present to a birthday party her son was attending. Sometimes the instructor and I spent time in the parked car. I wasn't even driving! I was given bad advice such as pumping the foot break and riding the curb. I learned nothing there! read more

Best school there is, the instructor is a very calm person doesn't yell even when under intense situations my son was very happy learning from him. Honestly I knew from the start This instructor was an issue old people are hard headed and believe what they say is God's law. That being said the instructor never introduced himself and was very rude I mean I was making small talk and was told " This is not a class I'm just letting you rent the vehicle." The gentlemen numerous times Grabbed the wheel while other cars were in our way and I had parked cars to my right. Besides that he freaked out about a car pulling out from a parked space we had more then 30feet ahead of the front bumper and the car was not even moving he slammed on the breaks like I was driving 100 plus.... To cut it short It's the cheapest in the area for a reason, people look else where before committing to this place. BTW any place that has more than one NO REFUNDS signage tells you people rethought this and you pay for what you get... do some shopping cheapest is not best here. I was debating which driving school to go with to get driving lessons for my sister, and on our way to the West Covina DMV for her written test, the car in front of me was from U-Drive and they seemed professional, so we decided to sign up with them. -- 3* for driving instructor -- My sister got Greg. He was okay as far as he would assist her in turns or speeding up/slowing down if needed, but other than that he would just chat with her or not say much. He didn't provide any more teaching than that, and telling her at what road to turn, etc. -- 1* for price/value -- They charged $250 for 6 hours, or 3 2-hour driving sessions. The instructor was 15 minutes late the first time but more or less on time the other two times. I do feel she got 10-15 minutes less driving time each time, because usually when they pick you up, the other student already in the car drives to their house, then your student takes over the driving. Also, each time they stop by the office to check in, and there is usually a line so that takes another 10+ minutes. All in all, you are paying for 6 hours but only getting about 5.5 or less. The conclusion is.... my sister passed her driving test! However, it was the company I had hired for her to take the road test in that really helped her pass the test. She said she learned more in the 2 hours before her road test than in the entire 6 hours with U-Drive, so I highly highly highly recommend West Coast Driving School in Chino. She learned with George, who also owns the company, and the tips he gave her were invaluable in passing her road test. They also offer the 6 hours driving instruction for only $200, and they pick up and drop off for those in the West Covina or Covina area. Had I known, I would have hired them from the start! I don't type out reviews as much but as a person who has alot of anxiety issues and gets nervous at the drop of a hat, I would recommend this school. Henry, my wonderful and very patient instructor, Henry has helped me alot with learning how to drive and gain more confidence in myself. I started out turning the wheel alot and braking without looking, but I can confidently say that I can drive without any of those problems. People will say that their lessons weren't worth it but I believed mine were because this is coming from a person who barely had the courage to learn how to drive and Henry gave me confidence, great tips on driving and consistently helped me work on my mistakes. You need to voice out what you feel uncomfortable with or what you feel you want to work on otherwise you'll end up not getting much out of your lessons. I definitely let Henry know what I feel like I need to work on as I took my lessons and he made it his task to see I did it well. Just now, I passed my driving test and I came out still in disbelief that I actually did it as a few months ago, I never thought I'd even pass let alone drive. This success is dedicated to my awesome driving instructor, Henry, who believed in me even when I couldn't that I can drive. Thanks Henry and U-Drive! Two words: UDrive rocks! I came here summer of 1997 and thanks to their simple tutelage and sample exams I scored a perfect on my written exam! I failed the first driving test because I took it at 8AM on a Monday morning at the horrible West Covina DMV. Then I took it again at 3PM in the glorious Fontana DMV and passed with an 87%. Greg Romero is the GOAT!!! That guy is a great instructor, he's funny, safe, and has taught me so much. Most of my friends have had him and they all passed. He's patient and makes you feel welcome and confident. Greg helped me understand signs, my lane changes, turning, and so much more. Although my younger brother is the one taking the driving lessons, this review is in regards to the customer service and on his behalf of the negative second session. 30 minutes into the second session, I get a text from my brother that he doesn't like his instructor. I found out later that the reason he was able to text me since he shouldn't be texting if he was driving was because his instructor, Henry, took a bathroom break during the lesson. I understand that people need to use the restroom from time to time, but not on someone else's time that was paid for in advance. In addition to the bathroom break, part of the session was also used to go back to the driving school office to watch a video. Again, more time wasted that wasn't actively driving or behind the wheel. My brother signed up for "driver training," not "driver education." If anything, a video would be bonus material that can be viewed during free time not during the session. Then when my brother gets back home I ask him why he didn't like his instructor, and the first words that came out his mouth were that his instructor was condescending. No one wants to hear feedback like that for a school. My brother had a good session with Aracely for his first session, but an unfortunate experience his second. What's worse is I specifically asked Cynthia, the receptionist, if all the instructors had the same teaching style and curriculum. I specifically asked to avoid this problem of varying differences. It would make more sense to have the same instructor at each appointment for consistency and to pick up where you left off. But the office was not that persistent on following up to schedule the next session. Not only were the teaching styles different, the types of cars of the instructors were also different. My brother's second session was learning in a Prius, which does not handle the same as other cars (I know because I drive a Prius and would not recommend learning to drive for the first time in a Prius, the pedals are very sensitive and has an emergency foot brake.) Obviously, the session is not consistent or standard between each one or between instructors. Not only was the quality of the lesson drastically different according to my brother, but the way that appointment times were carried out was unprofessional. I gave the school my phone number as the contact, so Henry called me last minute to try to change my brother's appointment time the day before. The appointment was booked in advance and I would expect the school and their instructors to uphold that appointment because that is the purpose of making an appointment ahead of time. Furthermore, since part of my brother's second session was spent at the office, Henry took the liberty to reschedule my brother's third session to an earlier time on a day that my brother has school. Again, the purpose of the appointment was disregarded. The new appointment date would only give my brother 2 days to practice what he just learned. But wait, there's more.... I then phoned the driving school main number to give feedback and to try a change my brother's instructor back to Aracely. The president of the U-Drive Driving School West Covina branch, Ricardo, answered the phone and provided some of the poorest customer service that I've ever experienced. Ricardo was very defensive and dismissive of my concerns and feedback. He told me that if my brother didn't like his session, "he should've told the instructor to take him home." This said policy is not written anywhere and on top of that, the session would not be refunded or rescheduled. Ricardo was not very accommodating or willing to come to a solution to resolve the poor experience. The saying "the customer is always right" does not always apply, but I wouldn't make things up especially since I have nothing to gain from a bad experience. Ricardo kept saying that I wasn't at the lesson so how would I know... well when the person who took the lesson tells you they didn't like it there must be a reason. Even as the president of the branch, he didn't offer to record our info to schedule the next session with Aracely and just referred me to call on Monday. My brother is still a minor and has the manners to behave at his lesson, so I'm helping him voice his experience. Even though I didn't personally take the driving lesson, just from my interaction with this business I have not had a positive experience, and it has only been two sessions. I would not recommend them for any future upcoming new drivers. read more
