First, the good: my shrimp was excellent. I liked the atmosphere very much. Very clean and pleasant. The waitstaff was good as well. I would have liked some cole slaw or a vegetable with my meal. I didn't like the disposable utensils and disposable little containers of condiments. What a waste! Our beer and wine came in glasses, then I asked for water and it was in a big styrofoam cup. All I could think about was the landfills filling up. I understand the paper on the tables for that kind of food, but the other disposable stuff cheapened the place. It did not fit the nice atmosphere. Why not bottles of ketchup and glasses for water? read more

Highly recommend this seafood place. We had shrimp with cajun and lemon pepper seasoning, one came with a side of corn, the other with a side of potatoes. We also ordered some cajun fries. LOVED EVERYTHING! We are from out-of-town and happened upon The Twisted Crab due to proximity, Yelp reviews, and the craving of seafood. We were a party of 7 (5 over 12, 2 under 5). We were seated immediately on a Friday around 5:15pm. Popcorn was immediately delivered to our table and drink orders were taken. We ordered the hush puppies & calamari for appetizers. We then ordered 2 kid meals (catfish & onion rings and chicken tenders & fries) and 3 combos (2 crab legs/shrimp/sausage/1w/corn/1w/potato & 1 crab legs/mussels). We chose the medium spicy twisted crab seasoning sauce for all. My husband and I both had 2 Vienna lager beers. All food came out hot and fresh with amazing flavor!!! Our server, Eric, was polite, professional, and prompt! The bathrooms were clean and updated. Our total was around $175 (not including tip) and we feel it was worth every penny! We all left feeling completely satisfied AND had leftovers which we were able to send home with our college age, football playing son for his lunch tomorrow. read more

Party of three, waited 10-15 min to be seated. Service was slow, had to ask for items several times ie napkins, bib, water. Ordered glass of wine...took 15min to get it. Watched the bartender fill several wine glasses..when I got mine it was obvious I was given the glass that was most likely someone's "refill" because my glass was filthy with lipstick and fingerprints. The food was great...fried oysters, crab legs, corn on the cob. Oyster dinner came out first...15min before the other two meals came out...most places serve all main dishes at the same time...felt uncomfortable eating while the other two were still waiting for their food. My husband and I decided to try the Twisted Crab Seafood Restaurant in Hampton tonight for two reasons; one I was in the mood for crab legs and two it was given four-stars on Yelp. There is no way on Gods green Earth this is a four-star restaurant!! The atmosphere was less than desirable; everything was extremely cheap from the paper plates, plastic forks, plastic bibs and the menu was very limited and extremely expensive for what we got!! The food was below average in quality and for $29 dollars; I got two scrawny crab legs and a 1/4 of an ear of corn on the cob served in a garbage bag. The crabs legs were mushy and the shell wouldn't crack. They didn't have proper utensils to get the crabmeat out of the rubbery claws. The corn was so over cooked it was mushy, so I threw it in the metal bucket, it wasn't worth eating. The seasoning used was nothing to write home about. So needless to say; we left hungry and broke and we certainly won't be back!! We were NOT impressed in the slightest! For those that rated this a five-star restaurant; they've obviously never eaten in a five-star restaurant. read more

My visit to the Twisted Crab in Hampton, VA has been the worst experience that I've ever had! I ordered the crab cakes which did not have a remnant of crab meat in them.There was more bread than stuffing at Thanksgiving! I complained because I could not eat them. So, the only solution was to order something else which I had to pay for , plus the crab cakes that I did not eat! The second order, which was chicken wings was good. My friend and I are senior citizens , however we did not receive the 10% discount that was advertised on the glass near the door of the restaurant. We pointed this oversight to the waitress who asked for our driver's licenses . When she returned, we were informed that it was too late,because the bill had already been tabulated! The food was horrible, however the service was superb! I will NEVER return to this restaurant again. I come from Maryland, and tried many similar seafood restaurant in Ocean City. But I have to say, the seafood here is the best. I ordered shrimp with no head, and my friends had the snow crab leg. The seasoning is incredible. The service is good as well. It is kinda busy when I came here at dinner time. And the bartenders took care of us. They introduced us their food patiently. So my bestie & I went to The Twisted Crab after attending a Women's Conference at our church. We were very hungry to say the least. Our waitress Anessa was very nice, but unfortunately my bestie had a piece of hair in her seafood bag. She ordered the #1 combo, I had a lb of shrimp w/ no head, corn & potatoes with the twisted crab sauce in mild. The manager only offered her 10% off of her bill. I thought that was awful and not very good customer service at all. This was my 1st and last visit to The Twisted Crab, I'll continue to drive to Virginia Beach to the Shaking Crab. Some of these food establishments don't realize the power in reviews and word of mouth. A piece of hair in food is unacceptable and to receive 10% off the bill was a slap in the face. I offered my feedback to the waitress, but it's not her fault. The manager never came to our table to apologize or anything. So no thanks, Im good on you Twisted Crab. read more
