We had a group of 8 that had zip lined before in various places. We all agreed that this was far better than anything we had done previously. One of the things everyone liked was the braking system - there wasn't anything for us to do because the guides slowed us down and stopped us at the end of each zip line leaving us free to just enjoy the ride. The scenery is exactly as shown on their website and we were able to zip over the falls multiple times. The guides were very friendly and made sure that everyone felt safe and had a good time. Almost everyone in our group flipped upside down at some point while we zipped along. That was definitely fun to try! They did a great job laying out the 9 zip lines, there was no wasted time going from one line to the next. The longest line is close to 1/2 mile long and provided a great view of Umauma Falls. They have earned the "Best Zip Line" for the past four years and it's easy to see why! read more

Today was our best day on the island! We took the early zip line tour and had a blast! All the staff were great from the person who checked us in, to the zip line Guides, to the lady at the snack shop. They all came together to make our day so wonderful! All the zip lines were awesome and they all had spectacular views! We could not pick a favorite. The lady in the snack/gift shop was so nice and helpful. Unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she gave us great tips on places to go in the area. After we were finished zip lining we took a walk around the botanical gardens. They were beautiful! Then she told us about a great swim spot about 5 minutes away. It felt so good to jump in after such a hot day. It was a great way to end an awesome day! read more

So here is the deal... this place is "top of the zip line" (pun intended). Everything from the location that overlooks the ocean, lush gardens, and quality of the zip lines are on point. The experience is more than we bargained for. The staff, the views, the crowd made it exceptional. We had taken our family out there which includes my 8 yr old daughter with a disability to her arm. The staff was so supportive and helped in every way to make her comfortable. She ended up being the first one on each ZipLine loving it with the others all cheering her on. Even flipped down for a bit while zip lining! Huge thank you to the staff and the lead guide Mai Tai! They all were a blast and made it ten times better. It was such a great experience. I got stuck on one of them and it was pretty funny because I was 2 ft away from the break. But I was able to be pulled out pretty quick. Awesome experience and they really have some absolutely gorgeous views. The equipment is all top of the line and the staff really make you feel so safe and secure. The staff is exceptionally friendly and down to earth!! Definitely one of my most favorite moments on the whole trip to the islands. Outside of the zipline experience theres trails in the area with nice views, plenty of random fruit trees and beautiful flowers. i thought this place was a tourist trap and a waste of time. we went ATV riding. felt like we were going in circles with nothing of interest to see. the zip lining also looked uneventful though better than atv. i wouldn't waste your time on this. read more

This was a fantastic zipline course. There are 9 lines with a lot of variety, which helps to minimize the waiting in line portion of the experience. The first 4 are tandem lines, the next 3 are linked so that the staff is able to unhook you from one and immediately hook you onto the next. Then the last 2 are individual lines. They handle breaking for you, so you are free to spin and flip upside down and just enjoy the ride. The views are gorgeous, and the staff is helpful and fun. I would absolutely go again! read more

A friend of mine was visiting from Oahu and really wanted to do the zipline experience at this place. I have a tremendous fear of heights but I decided I would just suck it up and go do this. My goodness.....I'm SOOOOO GLAD I did! This zipline affords you some of the most breathtaking views of waterfalls and landscape you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. The staff is incredibly fun, attentive and entertaining. The only thing they don't tell you, prior to the excursion, is you should bring a light sweat shirt or long sleeved sweater of some sort. When we got there it was sunny and beautiful, however, the weather shifted and ended up turning on us, leaving us wet and cold from the passing rain showers. Luckily, it was only on two of the nine runs we did and then the rain stopped. Just bring something to wrap around your waist in case the weather turns on you. Rain or shine, this is a must do! The website tells you to plan on 3+ hours for this experience, however, if all you are doing is ziplining, you will only need a little over an hour. My girlfriend and I were worried about the timing since she had a flight back to Oahu that afternoon, but we were finished with the whole experience in less than 2 hours. Take your time to enjoy the absolute beauty of this place and be sure to tip your guides........they're AMAZING! read more

Excellent family adventure and fun! If you are coming to the Big Island, the Umauma Zipline Experience is AWESOME! We did the 9 line tour, and from what we saw and experienced the 9 line is better vs 4 line tour. We brought our two 6yo twins, and the staff were really nice, and the guides went down the first 4 lines with our kids and helped build up their confidence that they went the rest of the way down without the guides and were trying to go upside down on the last line! This is an extremely safe and professionally run zip line operation and the guides know their stuff and it is all about safety first! The views are Amazing. Line 2 is our favorite and the most intimidating looking but you can overcome most any fears once you Zip line#2. You will soar at the tree tops looking down on the Umauma falls and the forest below. This was a great place to experience zip lining while visiting the Big Island. The full 9-line course gives you TWO MILES of ziplining over waterfalls and lush valleys. There are great photo opps between lines, and even a place were you may be able to pick a wild guava or two. You have the option of renting a Go Pro to record the whole experience. Our kids both did this. And while it's a bit pricy (about $50 each) it's great to have a full record of what each of them experienced, complete with their initial expressions of fear to their ultimate peals of laughter and exhilaration. Driving around the area, we saw other zip line operations. And while we certainly didn't see each and every competitor, this looked to be the most substantial and well located of those we observed. read more

Part of me wishes we did but there were many times where you are just spinning so I don't think you would gain much at that time. The guides were excellent and water was provided at zip lime #4. The ZipLine was fun and the scenery was very nice. Make sure you take your own camera as theirs breaks often as we were later told. The crew on the lines were very attentive and helpful and the nine lines were fun . We asked about filming before we left to go out. They gave us s price and showed us previous videos but who knows when those were taken. When we returned to pick out ours we were told by the same woman that the camera broke, then later she said oh it happens all the time. Another woman who worked there said "oh yeah that is always broken and the weather knocks it out". Luckily my husband bought a phone holder and filmed some but thinking they were filming got mostly stills and decided to enjoy each ride. Sure missed not getting the photos and video of our tandem race line. Wanted to share that with family at home. read more

What an incredible experience! The views are absolutely breathtaking and with nine lines you get your bang for your buck. I was part of a group of 4 and we had opportunities to zip side by side on the parallel lines. We scored a group discount, too, so be sure to ask about promotions. Hano, Matt, and Keoni were wonderful guides. They were very experienced and knowledgeable about the course. Even as a nervous first-time zipper with a fear of heights, the guides had me flipping upside down and learning how to steer in no time. They were also super friendly and hilarious. Great time On the Zipline tour. It took us about 2 hours and was super fun! Staff was funny and on point with safety and still kept it entertaining. It is a 2.5 hour drive from where we were in Kona. That was the only down side. It was nice to be able to see the scenery between here and there and it was a beautiful day in Hilo. read more

We did the full nine-run zipline tour which took almost two hours. There's a big parking lot and they encourage you to leave all valuables (e.g. phones) in your car; they'll even hold onto the car keys if you're nervous about dropping them. OMG! First, this review is 2 years late, but I've gotta say something. Trip of a lifetime for our family. This was one special activity none of us had ever done before, and I cannot imagine a more idyllic setting and perfect day and pairing of activities! We have three kids, at the time ages 14,11 and 8. Our youngest has a physical disability and tends to be very reticent to taking chances and generally doesn't like to go fast, as he feels out of control easily. Well, he got the cutest female guide to shake any of his fears! Alexis took such gentle care with him, he completed every single zip line possible! She made him feel so secure in his own harness with her right along in front of him so he could hold her hand. Here we had been thinking we'd be lucky if he'd consent to one or two of the lines (no one is "made" to do anything they're not comfortable with). It was a phenomenal experience for all of us, and I felt so free knowing each of the kids was really having a great time. We paid for the extra "dip" part of "zip & dip," and I'm really glad we did that too! The drive getting to that side of the island was long, and the swim was so refreshing after a sunny zip trail. So it was so worth the bit of extra expense to have lunch and a fun cooling-off. I think we might have otherwise felt like we missed out on the crown of the afternoon, if we'd just gotten straight off the huge thrill and into the car for a long ride back to the hotel. The guides were sooo nice, attentive, safety-prioritized, assuring. I bought the photo package with the video and I think there were some bugs that still needed to be worked out. I was a bit disappointed with the shots they got. we got better moments with our cell phones. That was the only snag. Not a big deal. I really don't think we could have had a better experience than all we got for our trip there. Amazing, thrilling, refreshing, bonding. It really did absolutely make our trip magical. read more

The main building was nice with pretty good food at amazing prices, the restrooms were very roomy and super clean, the staff was very friendly and personable and played music while we waited in line. The zip lines themselves are super sturdy and I never felt unsafe the entire time. The views are absolutely gorgeous and they even have roofed areas at each Zipline while you wait and provided us with cold water half way through the two hour tour. There is a bit of a walk between certain zip lines but nothing more than 5 minutes long. Highly recommend it and absolutely loved every minute of it! read more
