We chose Uncommon Weddings to cover both photo and video for our February wedding in Carmel after hours of research looking through social media, trying to find the best fit for what we want and our budget. We opted for their highest/most expensive package since it seemed worth it - and we were right! The whole team, Sway, Sean (lead videographer) and Camille (lead photographer) are very responsive from the start all the way to the end. Sean, Camille and their associates arrived on time, they were professional and worked seamlessly with all our other vendors. The crazy part is, I didn't notice where they were at all during the ceremony and reception, but they were able to capture all the special parts, big or small, in a candid way that really captured how we felt during those moments! We also highlighted early on that our parents and our dog are very important to us, and it showed on our final photos and videos! They delivered the photos and videos earlier than promised and are very accommodating with all the edit requests we had! For the photos, they already edited almost everything we would've chosen ourselves, we only had to ask for around 15 more edits just to capture a bit more and we are very happy with the results! Camille nailed our portraits shots too! And the team handled the colors and edits of those shots so perfectly, there's really nothing much to ask for. Their video portfolio is the main reason we chose them; their style is exactly what we wanted and they didn't disappoint! Our final highlight video is so beautiful, so well thought out, and it showcased our wedding in a way that we will truly cherish forever! The reception and ceremony videos are so well done too, we are so happy with the results! We worked with Uncommon Weddings back in October, and it was the most professional yet personal experience! The entire process -from first conversation, to book, to prep, to final product- was amazing. Sway and his team were super prompt with answering any questions or acting on any suggestions we had leading up to the day. Everyone working the event, including our lead videographer, Cliff, put so much care and attention into making us feel like we were their ONLY clients. They beautifully captured our ceremony while never feeling like they were in the way. Our reception was joyfully raucous, and the footage reflects that impeccably. And when it comes to the highlight video, we are OBSESSED! We really appreciate that they were able to tweak it slightly after we gave feedback, and they flawlessly edited our footage to one of our favorite songs. It was also remarkable just how much footage they captured! It really felt like they were able to record every single special moment of that day. There was at least one point where they knew that there was an opportunity to capture something we specifically requested, and kindly gave us prompts in order to achieve the moment. Their directions were clear and easy, and those moments were recorded exactly as we envisioned. Something that was equally appreciated was how well they worked with our other vendors, especially our photographers. They meshed so effortlessly with the photo team that at many points during the day, my wife and I thought they were all part of the same group! Their excellent collaboration and communication skills made the entire day go by smoothly not just for us, but for everyone working the event. They also captured the joy in our guests and found moments that we otherwise would have missed. There was one moment in particular, when the DJ played Bohemian Rhapsody, and the entire reception started rocking out. Screaming, fists in the air, head banging. Uncommon captured it all. They made us look like rockstars, and I'm so thankful that we have that to look back on for the rest of our lives. The team was amazing! So many special moments were captured on our wedding day and it helped us relive the magic especially since the day went by so fast that we couldn't be as present as we wanted. I was looking for a videographer to cover my fall vineyard wedding last year. It was a last minute decision as I initially wanted to forego the video coverage. I looked up many event videographers but my search was over when I came across The Uncommon Weddings on Instagram. I don't remember how I stumbled upon their IG account but I was impressed by their work. I immediately sent an inquiry email to Sway who promptly emailed me back. We set a date to speak over the phone and Sway sounded very friendly and he patiently answered all of my questions. He also sent me a detailed email of how they operate and I loved how it was structured. He then set up a phone appointment for me to speak with our videographer, Sean, who asked me details on how I wanted my wedding captured --what moments were important to me and any details I wanted to incorporate into the video. He listened attentively and even offered suggestions. I was confident that I chose the right team. Sure enough, I made the right decision by choosing them to cover my wedding! My husband and I were assigned Cesar and Hailey as our videographers for our big day at the Palm event center in Pleasanton and we couldn't have been more happy. They arrived on time, were professional, fun to be around, and made the filming process extremely easy and organic. Our videos were delivered to us about 10 weeks post wedding (turn around time is usually about 12 weeks) and we couldn't have been more happy. The videos came out fantastic and it was worth every single penny! We have these amazing videos to look back on. DO NOT HIRE The Uncommon Weddings! Sway will charm you until you sign the contract, but then he hires third party videographers and editors, so the people on the day of the wedding were strangers, unprofessional and odd. The videos were not quality-the cameraman used the mic on the camera instead of hooking into the AV system (which our DJ tried to help him with and he ignored), so you can hear the cameraman breathing over our vows during the ceremony and over the speeches during the reception. To make matters much worse, the 8 week turnaround time vanished-we literally did not get our videos for about a year. And we NEVER got our finalized videos. Then they deleted the footage before finishing the project! Sway and his team were awful to deal with, long delays in communication, excuses why things weren't happening, very frustrating and disappointing. We can't go back and get our special wedding day redocumented, so don't hire these guys!! read more

I had Uncommon Weddings video my wedding in May 2023 and they were awesome! The experience was smooth and stress-free, as they checked in often and sent us their timeline needs with reminders. Our videographer was fun and friendly on the day of, and we had a blast with their creative ideas. The video is stunning (I still watch it back often), and the team was great at making revisions and helping to trouble shoot technical issues right away! They were able to make a few small tweaks that I wanted and were very responsive. The turn around time was also super fast! Completely disorganized and poorly ran company! Their contract had an 8-week turnaround time for delivering the video, and I was completely patient and understanding of the backlog due to COVID and familiar with how much work goes into post editing. Christmas is starting to come up (4 months after the wedding), and I decide to check in on a status update with our coordinator Kelsey Gregge, no response for TWO WEEKS! I try their Instagram, no response either. Eventually I had to put in a request for their Contact Us portion as if I was a new customer just to get their attention. After weeks of just getting them to respond back we learned that THEY LOST OUR FOOTAGE!!! What is even worse, is that THEY DID NOT HAVE A BACK UP COPY ON ANY HARD DRIVE!!! They ship a physical hard drive to their editors, and their editor confirmed to the film shooter that they received the hard drive with the footage when they in fact DID NOT! The film shooter then deletes his footage off his hard drive, and the ONLY physical copy floating around is lost in the mail since a week after the wedding in August 2021 all the way through Christmas 2021 and into 2022. THEIR WHOLE TEAM IS SO NEGLIGENT AND CARELESS, that they didn't even know the hard drive was MISSING or that the POST EDIT WAS NEVER EVEN STARTED until I brought it to their attention in January 2022. Even after all of this I still find myself not a priority as I have to be the one to contact them just to get a status update of what is going on. Sway Garcia titles himself as the "Director of Dreams" but he can't even oversee that his team is SNOOZING AWAY and NOT KEEPING TRACK OF COMPLETED or STARTED PROJECTS. They obviously weren't the most expensive videographers, but I got what I paid for. UNORGANIZED, UNPROFESSIONAL, NO LEADERSHIP, NON-DELIVERING, SHAM OF A COMPANY. Although I was refunded, I CAN NEVER REPLACE THE MEMORIES FROM OUR WEDDING DAY. I have nothing from the UNCOMMON WEDDINGS, matter of fact they cost me money as I paid to feed their videographers at my wedding. We used Uncommon Weddings for our wedding this past summer in San Francisco and we could not be happier with our choice. We had a small ceremony on a Friday and then a multi-venue wedding on the following Saturday and we had uncommon videographers for each event. For both days, they were easily some of the most professional and easy to work with vendors of the entire day. We coordinated with Sway before the event and he was very communicative and receptive to any ideas or desires that we had. The pricing was also very upfront and understandable on their website and there were no surprise fees or gotchas. The videographers worked fantastically with our photographers and our wedding coordinator and were always in the right position to capture the moments that we had highlighted to them. They also provided subtle mics to use during all of our speeches. The videos themselves were beautiful and the turnaround time and digital delivery mechanism were also great. The edit is a 3 second edit to include my parents in the highlight. It is now April, and the edit is still not done. we keep following up every week, and they promised to have this done "next week" for the past 2 months. Josue was fun, professional, and most importantly very flexible. He was very detailed when walking us through the process and what we can expect from Uncommong Wedding, this was very comforting. For these reasons we decided to go with Uncommon Weddings over the other vendors we had in mind. - Everything was smooth from our initial conversation, but of course COVID hit and we had to postpone our wedding. What impressed us the most was how flexible Uncommon was throughout COVID with their contract and service. Not only did Uncommon committed to sticking with us even with the postponement but also sent us nice gifts throughout the COVID year to make us feel better and reminded us that our wedding will be beautiful. - Once COVID started to calm down and we realized we could can actually go through with our wedding! We were assigned a videographer name Daniel from Uncommon. Daniel was super funny, professional and vibed with us perfectly. Throughout the planning phase all the way up to the wedding days Daniel worked with us and again super flexible. - On the day of the wedding Daniel and his partner, Jeremy, were prompt and very professional. They knew exactly what to do and made the day smooth. The best part about Daniel and Jeremy was that they were super fun, blended in with our group, and made us feel comfortable where we didn't even realized the cameras were on us. We had a good experience with The Uncommon Weddings! Terrence, our videographer, deserves 5 stars! He's amazing in what he does and he is the sweetest person. Sadly, Terrence was not set up for success because the second videographer that was scheduled ended up not coming due to contracting COVID and the team wasn't able to find another replacement that morning with such short notice. But Terrence still worked his butt off to make sure we had good footage to look back on! I'll be honest that because we only had one videographer that day, there's less footage and less angles the editors have to work with for our videos. Terrence also had to run around everywhere and he couldn't be in two places at once, especially during the groomsmen / bridal party getting ready times. When I received our videos back, I was definitely ready to write an unhappy review. There was a lot of content missing - my wedding party reception entrance, footage of my bridal party and I in the robes I bought them, a better angle of me walking down the aisle (you can't see me walk down the aisle until I was at the front because there were too many people blocking the camera in that view), the part where my husband spins me around in the middle of the ceremony aisle, my mom hugging me at the front of the aisle, just to name a few. Of course, most of this would not have been a problem if there were two videographers on-site. So why am I here giving them 5 stars? Because after I shared with the team how disheartened I was when I watched all the videos back, they continued to work with me to make things right. I held back on writing my review until I tried resolving it with the team. And they have been amazing - they listened to my concerns, offered to look back at footage, re-editing my videos again, and our videographer even came into the conversation to suggest some highlights for the editor to add in as well! In addition, added a small discount for the footage that wasn't taken. I don't think there was more I could have asked for from the team. Things happen - but it's really what the company does after that really makes the difference! It shows that the team really cares and wants to make sure you're happy with the videos, no matter what! They're currently still re-editing my videos, but from my experience so far, I think it's safe to share my thoughts now! Will update again if this takes a turn! read more
