The negative reviews that you may see on here are out of date. I had service 12/23/22 and this review is based on that service. Recently I was experiencing symptoms of a septic tank that needed servicing. I had the tank serviced, but it did not alleviate the problem. So at 8:00 am I tried calling several plumbing contractors for service. I was feeling a bit desperate in that I couldn't flush the toilets. From most companies I didn't get my call answered, but Unstoppers answered my call. Thank goodness they did. I had tried snaking the main clean out myself, but was coming up agains a blockage. In speaking to the dispatcher at Unstoppers, he indicated all of their service techs and plumbers were really busy, but he thought he would be able to squeeze me in. A few minutes later I got a text letting me k is I would be getting a service call from Paul between 10 and 12. I got updates by text throughout the 2-hour window letting me know when Paul would arrive. Paul came set up, quickly assessed the situation and got to work. It did take a good bit of effort to clear the blockage. Paul was very determined to make sure everything was working perfectly before he left. I really appreciate the quick and thorough service. I will call them for all my future plumbing needs and would recommend them to anyone in need of service. read more

We had a clog in our drain and it was backing up into our toilet, sink and even the shower. I put a claim into our Home Warranty and it was assigned to The Unstoppers the next day and originally was set for 2 days out. Frank called us and said he could come today, so 1 day and not 2! What a blessing! Not only was he considerate and realized the issue we had, but he went above and beyond to fix the issue and was extremely professional and personable! I had the Unstoppers accouple of days. They were efficient and friendly. Shane explained everything so I understood. He needed parts and got them in record time. They were there when they said and on time. He had to move some furniture and put it back. My tub fixtures required more detail and work. Shane was right on it. He cleaned up his mess and was friendly and so polite. That was a blessing in disguised. I am lucky I called them, all my bathroom fixtures and toliet look good and WORK. I called this company initially to repair a leak in the shower drain. They responded quickly, but then told us we would need all new water lines. The main plumber was Frank. He had two young men doing most of the work. He barely supervised the job. He sat in the van a lot because of the heat I believe in the AC. The two young men cobbled the plumbing up so bad it looks like a kindergartener did it. They two young men ran an extension cord from our kitchen for their tools leaving our door open. So instead of us burning up our AC unit we turned it off. We had a plug in the screen room right where they were working. One of the young plumbers broke my vanity door. One of them ran a line right through of AC duct work so half of our mobile home had no AC. We just had a new vapor barrier put in a week before and Frank said they would just drill a hole for the new water line to fit through. Evidently the young men wasn't told to do that. They cut the vapor barrier with a utility knife which left big holes. So we had the vapor barrier person come back to fix the damage they did which cost us another $500. We paid Unstopper $4500. They replaced our outdoor water spicket and used tin snips to in stall that instead of putting it where the other one was. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I feel Frank was a very good salesman for this company, but their job was terrible! Never use them because they don't know how to do a neat job. We have lines running everywhere! I had a serious drain problem in one of my bathrooms. I had tried to snake the drain myself, but was not successful. I called two plumbers who snaked the same drain. The water backed up in the main soil stack after only 30 hours for the first plumber. The second Plumber's job kept the drain open for about one week, but he told me to have a plumber use a camera if the pipe stopped up again. It stopped up again. I called Un-Stoppers and they sent Travis and Bo out with a camera. I have a two story home, so they pulled the upstairs toilet that was having the problem and ran the camera down. To make a long story short, they discovered that my drain pipe under my cement slab had collapsed. It was Orangeburg pipe. They sent two more plumbers, Lee and Mikey, to fix my problem. They removed the concrete, took out the old, collapsed pipe, and replaced with new pipe. They were absolutely excellent in starting and completing this huge project. I am thankful that I found an honest Plumbing company that knows what they are doing. Also, their repair bill was reasonable and well worth the finished product. These folks were the ones that my warranty company required me to use. I made the claim on a Sunday, but waited until Tuesday to call them. To my surprise they were able to come out the very next day. They gave me a window of time to expect them and said they would call ahead. To my surprise they called early and showed right up. I had 4 pretty significant issues. The technician (Jerry) was very quick, knowledgeable and pleasant. He was able to handle all of the problems except he needed to order one part. When the part came in, I had exactly the same experience. I would use these guys again, even if I wasn't using the warranty company. read more

This company is a night mare. They were assigned by my warranty company. I called to set up an appointment which I did. Then I had to call right back and change it to the following day - which I did. Then the plumber calls me on the morning of the wrong day and says he's on the way. So that got cancelled. Then the next day comes and goes and no plumber. Meanwhile I had left a message on Monday, and again on Tuesday - I have the phone record to prove I made the call. Both times the guy says he never got a message. They also don't answer the call at 9:00 when they are suppose to be open for business. So then on the day of the appointment, around 1100 or noon, I call him. He tells me they are running behind - okay - it happens. Then he tells me they still plan on getting to me that day and they will call in the afternoon with an update. (And yes, the moon is pink.) So after no call I get back with him and he tells me its going to be the next day. I remind him that he told me he would call me with an update. He didn't remember that just like they never got my message off the answering machine. Okay, so the next day is here and I call them at 9:00, no one answers, leave message, no one returns it. I call back later and he assures me that they are in that area of the city and they will call me when he is on the way. Next text is from the tenant that the plumber has come and gone. They lied about me leaving a message (unless their answering machine is broke or they don't know how to use it) and they are incapable of doing what they say they are going to do or follow up on anything they say they are going to follow up on. I'd go find another plumber. read more

We had to use this company via Sears Home Warranty, for our new water heater. We waited for the diagnosis. We waited a week for a water heater. We got an email saying the prices, and details. We were told we'd be the first customers of the morning. We expected the contracter/worker and hour before he showed up. He, then, got the wrong water heater and wrong parts. He's here and we are without any water, and he has to go get things and eat lunch. We are now going to wait longer for water, at all. I'm very disappointed. If you need an experienced knowledgeable Plummer that will walk you through you're pluming problems and complete a job with excellence than call Gary Wallace. He came out to my house after I had two other larger plumbing company's come out in which I will not mention and was not able to help me clear the pipes. Un-Stopper's "Gary Wallace" did what other plumbers couldn't or wouldn't attempt. He is a plumber with experience that didn't quit until the job was done. He was cheaper than the other bigger plumbing companies and did twice the work. Several days ago, I experienced a water damage problem in my home due to a blockage in the pipes that rendered my three toilets upstairs non-operational. That alone would frustrate a homeowner, but I also felt a panic attack of the unknown because I did not know what was happening, why it was happening, and how it would be resolved. Well, after making a call to my home warranty company, I received a call from a representative from Unstoppers. The plumber was in my home the next day and he put me at ease, when he explained what was happening and the procedures to correct the problem, not only that but he came equipped with the necessary equipment to fix the problem. Usually, when dealing with a contracted company, you may expect that someone will try to take advantage of you, especially, if they sense that you may know nothing about their profession. Well, in that area, the plumber once again made me feel at ease because instead of boosting up prices on things, my plumber, ensured me that he would not take advantage of me because he believes in quality work and providing quality customer service at economical prices. He proved that to be true to me, so much so, that I requested for this same company twice more for my plumbing issues. Every Unstoppers Plumber that spoke with me and worked on my plumbing issues were very diligent in working to resolve the problem expeditiously. Very unprofessional; after reporting a leak on 5/2 it took them 20 days to report it to the insurance company to have the claim denied, convincing us to incur in over 700 dollars in additional repairs. It is a shame there are so many super negative reviews on this company. I also had to use them because of warranty I have. They got the request for service on 9/21 and were out to check my water heater on 9/22. Determined it needed to be replaced, was back here today on 9/23. My service guy, Larry, was the epitome of a professional plumber. He most certainly knows his business. He is also very kind. After installing the heater, he waited a few minutes to be sure nothing leaked; sure enough he found a leak so he told me he wasn't leaving until the job was perfect. He stayed and fixed the leak - very minor, something needed to be removed and tightened. If I need plumbing services again I WOULD call them, BUT I would be requesting only Larry. The unstoppers proved to be both unreliable and unethical. They were scheduled to come out on a Friday and simply said "sorry, we'll be out next week." Of greater concern was the work they did. They came to my home to fix a hot water heater (check for a leak). They determined that there was no leak. BUT, after they left, there was no hot water. While they were there, they made several changes / adjustments to the unit. When I called them, they lied, saying that they never touched the unit. They simply refused to come back to fix what they broke. Do yourself a favor: Find another plumber!!! read more

I had a water heater issue, it's old and rusty with miminal leaking from the top and the bottom. Even from the untrained eye, I could see that it needed to be replaced. Because of my home insurance company, I got stuck with this bunch. The guy came out and replaced some flexible pipe and called it done. My mom was there and she said, aren't you going to replace it? He said, why would I replace a perfectly good water heater? It's not what he said as much as how he interacted with my mother. She's pretty laid back. He made her so mad with snide and rude comments that she told him that he wouldn't get any good words from her. I called the company and spoke with someone who said he heard my mother shouting at the repair guy, over his phone. Impossible. We've since determined that it was probably the television in the background. I had to call the warranty company back and bully them into sending someone out again to be sure that the water heater was safe. I was told by my handyman that it could explode in it's condition. He wasn't getting the work, why would he lie? Same guy came back out, was there less than a minute and announced to my mom that we're getting a new water heater and left. i waited for more than a week before i heard from the office again. I told her that I wouldn't use her company on a bet. I've also dropped the homeowner's insurance because they conveniently only cover the water heater - from their warehouse - and labor to install it. Less than $300. Most water heaters cost more than that. I've read other reviews about this company. None were good. If they provided minus rating stars at the top, i'd pick the worst. This company was dispatched to my property to take care of A toilet that had issues flushing. The company came out and snake the toilet and in the process busted out the rear end of the toilet. The company verbally and on paper stated they would replace the toilet that day or the next . Come the following day I had a no call no show so I contacted the office and they told me someone would be out the following day. Two days after The initial appointment The company was still no call no show. I contacted the office and the manager(Joe) answered the phone. He Said he does not feel he should be responsible for replacing the toilet due to a foreign object was found in the drain. I told him he could have called me to discuss the matter ,instead Of avoiding me until I called and he said to me ( are you done) referring to me talking. He was very rude and not professional at all. Even after I was told they would replace At no cost He had a change of heart. He told me if the paper work States there was a foreign object In the drain he would not be replacing it. After that I filed an appeal with my home warranty company who had dispatch them. After they called to speak with Joe the manager he told them he does not feel he should be responsible. He then agreed to pay 50% for a new toilet but then stated I would have to pay for the install. he wanted to avoid at all cost doing the right thing. I had to use this company as I filed a claim and that's who they sent out. The tech who came out was called Lynn. As far as the work goes, my garbage disposal did get fixed but I think he screwed up my dishwasher as it was working just fine before he came and he even asked me if I use it to know if to connect something back to it. I told him I do and to leave it how it was. My main issue however is that I asked him if he had a mask and he said no. I provided one to him as my 1yr old has severe asthma along with other respiratory issues and I am also on immunosuppressive shots. I explained that to him and with Covid on the rise I did not want to put us in any harm. Although he did take the mask, everytime I move away he would take it off and then he was constantly coughing and hacking. He then went on to say it's a smokers cough. Honestly, I dont care what kind of cough it is, why not just wear the mask? But he intentionally put us at risk. I had to air out and disinfect the entire kitchen for a day before returning to the house. I then noticed my dishwasher not running in water and when I called to inquire about it, Mr Lee picked up for the tech whose name is Lynn and said that he told him I was rude to him. I explained that I wasnt rude and just asked him to wear a mask and my reasoning behind it. Needless to say, the company denies any wrong doing and because I complained about Lynn, he said he would not send anyone out (although at first he was going to but when I mentioned about Lynn and the mask he changed his mind). So now I would have to pay for another company to come out and see what he did to my dishwasher. read more

Like the other posts, Unstoppers was assigned to me by warranty company. I'm having my bathrooms updated and ran into issues with water shut off valve and old leaky water heater. When the guy they sent gets here 2 days later he tells me he was not advised of the valve problem and the water heater was not leaking even though it was rusty and wet. I got the contractor who's doing my baths on the phone who attempted to tell the plumber that the water heater was leaking, but he wasn't having it. He took my $85 and left, I called and told the women who answers the phone that I wanted someone else to look at it. Advised her for the 2nd time that they had my old phone #. I didn't hear back, so I called again. Her response "Oh you want us to give you a 2nd opinion?" Yes...I already paid you the deductible! Yet another 2 days go by. 2nd guy, very nice, professional. He could not believe the 1st guy said it wasn't leaking. Said he'd be back today (9/25) to do the work. BTW he still was given my old phone number by the office, even though I had also e mailed the correct number. Yesterday when I called to check on things she had no idea what had transpired with the 2nd guy. When I told her he still had my old phone number, she said I was being abusive and hung up on me. When I called back, she just picked up without saying anything and put me on hold. Turns out because the 1st idiot filed a claim that nothing was wrong and the 2nd guy said there was, they had to have more info to review the claim. Meanwhile 2 bathrooms torn up. She who does not understand English called this am all humble to say the claim was approved but they can't come until 9/29. 13 days from my initial phone call. These guys are really only good for unplugging a drain or replacing a simple fixture. I would not use nor recommend this company for any serious plumbing issue. I had to go through this company because of the Home Warranty on my 111yr old Home. Most of the shame falls on the Home Warranty Company but their response is poor as well. I had two service calls that were made. The first was for a clogged drain in my first floor bathroom. It took 2 days for them to call and schedule and another for them to arrive. Originally, they were not going to auger the drain because a "clean out was not accessible above grade." My response was to remove the toilet & reset it myself after the call. Even then the tech, name redacted, balked. I gave him an extra $20 because he was going to leave prior to that & I need the bathroom back in operation after being down for 4 days. C for Unstoppers & F for American Home Shield. Second call was about two months later. Again, my home is 111yrs old & plumbing was mostly original. This time it took a three days to schedule 4 days for them to come out. Leaving me with 1/2 of the bathrooms in my house out of service. The main waste riser for the second & third floor bathrooms failed catastrophically. Initially the Tech did not see the problem. I had to show him. Bear in mind this is the head service Tech for the area, Tampa Bay. While I was down stairs he turned on all the faucets in the secondary bath causing the water to pour down the chase and bleed out to my heartwood pine hardwood floors. I had to rush upstairs and shut the water off. When I sternly asked what he was doing he replied "I need to see where the leak is." My response "I can show you with the flood you just created. The only positive I can add was he was good at getting the Home Warranty claim processed fully but the quote for replacement without demo was 3 times what other companies quoted with full demo/access in their scope. "F" grade for Unstoppers service B admin service, "D" for scheduling and "C" for American Home Shield. Bottom line if you have no choice because of Home Warranty Service then just watch the work they do very carefully or go out of pocket. I definitely would not recommend their company. read more

This has to be the most dishonest and crooked plumbing company that I've ever came across. The manager argued with me for 10 mins about work that was done. He stated that I would have to pay another service fee to send someone back out even though they never fixed the problem the first time. Then he stated that the reason the work wasn't done was because I denied access to the plumbing. When in fact I said that it was fine. I have a 2' x 2' hole in my wall that shows the access. But instead of sending someone to verify or ask for a picture he called me a liar and stated that his invoice shows no work being done. I even offered to send him my invoice copy to show that access was made and work was attempted. I will never again use this low rate company. Buyers beware. read more

Used Un-Stoppers through a warranty company. I was advised the permit fee to install a water heater was $150.00, I questioned the plumber, thinking this was high but ended up paying the fee after he explained to me that was the county fee. When inspector from the county (Hillsborough) came to inspect the installation I asked why the county fee was so high, turns out the county charges $34.80 (I did speak with the county building permid department and they were surprised at the high fee). I called Un-stoppers to ask to speak with a person in charge, turns out I was speaking to the dispatcher, waited for the general manager to call me, which she never did. I finally called and spoke with a Sherry Wallison (not sure of spelling or even if this was her real name) and explained that I questioned the plumber about the fee and was advised this is the fee, every time un-stoppers installs a water heater the permit fee is $150.00. Not knowing I could have gone to the county and gotten my own permit but then again when I asked the dispatcher this, he told me that if I had gotten my own permit and if Un-stoppers had installed the water heater incorrectly and it wouldn't pass county inspection, Unstoppers would not come out and repair the mistake. So now I'm taking to Sherry, the general manager and she said because I signed an agreement that I would pay the $150 there was nothing else she could do. I explained to her the only reason I signed the agreement was that after questioning the fee, I was led to believe that this is what the county charges. All in all the only professional from this whole experience was the plumber. I had to advised Sherry I needed to hang the phone up since she was yelling at me and I don't intend to use there services again.
