Yeah, these guys are the bomb diggity. Super helpful, especially when a frantic chick calls looking for her One True To Do List, which inadvertently got stuck to the side of a box she dropped off to ship. Not only did they have the list when I called (like 2 hours later), they scanned it and sent it to me (I was too far away to come back for it). Didn't even charge me for the scanning even though I'm pretty sure that's usually a paid service. (And bonus points for not making me feel like a dork for having a two page annotated to do list.) I had a really odd experience with this UPS store on 7/21/17 and wanted to give others a heads up in case they fell 'victim' to the BS line I was fed. Came to drop off two, identical care packages (standard shoe boxes with Pringles, sour patch kids, home made CC cookies, and the most recent WP sports page) for my two sons at camp. Both packages weighed exactly 2.14 pounds each. I asked the tall, young white kid helping me if they still offer USPS services. He says "Yes". "Same rates, I ask?" He says "Yep" I say "Great, these are in no hurry to get there. I'll take ground delivery unless there's something cheaper." He says "Nope, that's cheapest. Please fill out this form". He hands me a sheet wanting my name, phone number, email address, home address and that of my kids (addressee), wife etc. I ask him why and he mumbles something about it being "required". But, the USPS doesn't require this, I say, He shrugs. I realize they're probably getting me to build their database for them so I fill it with old, inaccurate information. Not cool trying to trick paying customers into giving you valuable personal Information for free. This stuff gets sold and then you get spammed. What a great way to thank your customers. He disappears into the back and a heavy set Korean kid- same age roughly- comes back to finish the interaction. He places both packages on the scale and says "$17.45 each" I say "WHAT!? I mailed two, identical packages this same week last year from the Wythe st USPS building and it was something like $12 TOTAL" He says "Yeah, well they have different rates". I ask "What are they?" He says "I'm not sure" I say, "Yeah, but the tall, white kid I just spoke with said you had the same rates. Why would I spend more than twice what the USPS charges?" He shrugs. I ask if the owner/manager is there so I can get a handle on these 'different rates' and he says. "Ahhh, no." Something isn't right. So I leave with the packages, walk two blocks south to the PO on Mt Vernon and Howell and mail them BOTH for a TOTAL of $14.90 $34.90 vs $14.90- both supposedly handled by the USPS with the same delivery date. The exact difference is a flat $20? Peculiar, no? I don't know if that kid was trying to rip me off and pocket the difference, but beware if you're mailing anything with them. I wouldn't trust them at all. Update: Despite Patrick's claim, he never contacted me. He didn't return my call or my email. I have copies of both my call and my note and zero reason to fabricate a story. He, however, has every reason to. I have also been in the store since I wrote this review and the heavy Asian kid still works there. It seems to me that Patrick's best defense is to call disgruntled customers liars. read more

They were complete life saves mr christian and *sorry i forgot thw gentlemens name who resembled harrison ford* were so understanding and professional when i first called the store and within minutes helped me with passport photos and finger prints that needed to be expidited and were so courteous professonal and attentive it was unbelievable! read more

Purchased stamps here based on what the employee said we needed for the size and weight of our envelopes, which turned out to be the incorrect postage amount. They wouldn't accept the return, even though it was based on their error. They were incredibly rude about it when I called, yelling "I TOLD YOU POSTAGE IS NON-REFUNDABLE." I live in the area but will take my business elsewhere in the future. I edited my review to add one star, as they did realize their error and return the stamps, and apologized to my fiance when he returned the stamps. However, it's never appropriate to yell at a customer, particularly when that customer is actually correct. read more

My fiancé's father passed away in another state, and we needed notary and fax services quickly (and not under the best of circumstances). Patrick, the owner of The UPS Store, took time at the end of his shift to make certain that we had collated, notarized originals of all of the key documents. He also recommended that we make a few copies for ourselves, which turned out to be a smart recommendation. Patrick was patient, kind, and truly went the extra mile to explain our options. I came into this UPS Store and experienced one of the most uncomfortable and poor customer service ever. I came into return Amazon purchases, which I needed the bar code from my phone, which I did not have service but then the young man helping me was kind of enough to let me connect to his phone's WiFi. Then the computer stopped working the owner/store manager, came over and seemed clearly annoyed with his employee. And then told him he should not have his phone out, which we both explained why. And then asked well what kind of device is that to me (the customer), WiFi only he asked, in rude tone (which not his business), and said well it works out by the window.... and the computer and the employee were still having issues. Instead of teaching him, he continued to talk down to his employee in front of the customers who was trying his best to help. I over see 80 plus enlisted Sailors in the Navy on a day to day operation, in the medical field, we are always about customers, and when you oversee others and their work, as leader or a store owner or manager, it's your job to set the tone, teach your employees not make the customer and the employee feel uncomfortable. Sir, you should work on your customer service and people skills, especially when providing a service or skill to others. read more

I came to this UPS because it was near where I live and I needed a document to be notarized and sent quickly. It is located in Old Town Alexandria, so the parking situation was limited to primarily the street. Luckily, I came early afternoon during the week so it was not to difficult to find parking nearby. The employees were very courteous and prompt, and I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. This will definitely be my go-to shipping play, I just need to make sure I come when there is ample parking. read more

I have never known the reason, but when we have an encounter with a particular associate, it is always horrible. Everyone else that works there is so pleasant. My husband and I each leave there every time saying "that guy is such a jerk". I believe he is the owner or the manager. We are long time UPS customers and even have a UPS business box, but we avoid this location as often as possible. Just today my husband went in and needed to purchase 20 boxes and ship out 20 wreathes to our clients, and the man said "No". He said he wouldn't be able to make any more sales of boxes for the weekend if we purchased them and shipped today. Obviously we went to the FedEx office and they promptly shipped out our packages and appreciated our business. read more

These guys are awesome and always on top of things! I can be assured that if I'm just dropping off a package that's already prepaid, I won't be standing in line very long just to get a receipt. Every time I've visited I'm always asked if I'm just dropping off and am attended to right away. Great, friendly, and fast service. Parking can sometimes be tricky. It's hit and miss, depending on the time of day you plan on stopping by. I've found that there's ample free 2 hour street side parking next to the Yoga studio between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m., which is a very short walk away. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service and 1 star is being generous and only given since there is no option for zero stars. When you are going out of town and a package is to be delivered and due to package thieves in the neighborhood you want to ensure your package is not stolen you redirect the package that is to be delivered via UPS to be held within the closest UPS Store - Del Ray and when completing the request it indicates that if you are not picking up the package the person has to have the tracking number to be able to receive the package. It does not say the person picking up the package has to have an identification with the same address the package was shipped to otherwise they cannot pick up the package. To top it all off the same person (who has the same last name as mine) attempted to pick up this package has previously picked up other packages from the same location for me without issue. Since I was going to be gone past the timeframe they indicated I had to pick the package up the employees here could have cared less and refused to release my package and if this is their policy then there should be a disclaimer noted when customers attempt to choose this location as a safe place to have their package held - I have used this location for all of our shipping, notary and copying services in the past, but I will never use this location again for anything nor would I recommend them to anyone when this is the type of customer service they provide. read more

I had a business letter that needed next day delivery and I was provided the correct envelope and address label and when I went into the store they said they'd get it delivered the next day and just as I was leaving, asked me if I needed a receipt. Which I'd forgotten to ask for. The clerk was friendly and professional and seemed to know what he was doing. This is the kind of service you can't always get at copy places, so that's why it's getting 4-stars! read more

1 star for box pricing, 5 stars for friendly service. I popped in here because they have a display out front that says "We Sell Boxes" and I didn't want to drive to the Container Store or Staples. They're conveniently located next door to Dairy Godmother. Guess what? A large box is $10. I think not. I got one the same size at the Container Store for $3.49. What on earth are they thinking? I had the most excellent service at the Mt. Vernon Avenue UPS Store. I had a letter that needed to be shipped overnight and I was told at the USPS that they could only ship it 2-day. I went to the UPS Store, not thinking that it was shipping to a PO Box and would need to go through the USPS anyway. The staff (I think the owner/manager? I wish I got his name!) went above and beyond. He tried to look up the street address associated with the PO Box number and when that was unsuccessful, he had an employee personally drop it off at the Post Office and was somehow able to get them to ship it overnight! It's so nice to have such wonderful service. I couldn't believe the level of care that went in to helping me. Thank you so much. I will definitely be returning to this UPS store for all of my shipping needs. read more

We moved to Del Ray a couple years ago and are just off Mount Vernon. We wanted a safe. convenient place that we could ship wine to and we found it, the UPS store! Everyone there is friendly, attentive and often will follow me to my car if I have heavy boxes to carry. Until day before yesterday, this was my store. I've always had good experiences with helpful staff. I was being waited on by a very pleasant staff member, named Nikira when she asked if I wanted an extra packaging envelope for a small box that I was shipping. It has two stone elephants in it, and I'd bubble wrapped the inside of the box already so I said no. I'd also already sent a box exactly like this one a few weeks earlier through the same store with no problems. As she was completing my order, a face appears from around the corner. A face that never rises from the desk but yells, "Nikira, that needs to be in our envelope!" Taken aback, and a little embarrassed, as there are others in the store, when this floating head from around the corner just yelled at two black women about a box he hasn't seen, never once rising from his desk. I tell Nikira "it's ok, I will go to the post office." And that's just what I did, paid my $5.45 in postage for the box, and didn't purchase any unnecessary UPS products. Courtesy goes a long way. In and out within 15 for shipping a very large package for the first time. Will be going back soon even though I live in DC and it's about a 15 minutes commute it's worth it. read more

TOTAL RIP OFF! If I could give zero stars I could. I sent a small letter and Israel asked me if I wanted tracking. I said "sure." He rung up the total and said it would be $6.53. It seemed like a lot. I said okay, and then immediately commented on how expensive postage is in this store. He then told me that the tracking was over $5!!! Are you kidding me? I asked for him to reimburse me. Had i known the cost of tracking I never would have done it. He told me that it's not possible to reimburse after the receipt is printed. Again, are you kidding me? I will never go back to this store. The attendants are clearly not forthright with the charges. If you ever go here, make sure to ask exactly what they are charging you for because they are clearly fraudulent. read more
