You know when you're having a terrible day and nothing seems to be easy? Patrick at UPS will do his best to turn things around if your issue is shipping related. Due to a series of unfortunate events, I ended up having to ship a bunch of A4 paper back to Amazon and hadn't been given enough shipping labels by Amazon. Patrick made sure all of my questions were answered and any oddities about shipping these packages were clear to me so I could explain to Amazon why one shipping label for a 104 lbs box would not suffice for two 52 lbs boxes of paper. During this 1 hour ordeal with Amazon, Patrick was also polite about asking me to wait as he provided great service to other customers in the store, answering their questions and also providing recommendations for shipping options. Even though we're moving further south into Alexandria and there are other UPS locations near us, I'll likely trek back to Del Ray in the hopes that Patrick or one of his adept colleagues are there to support my shipping needs. I had a package delivered from Wayfair that was in their possession. I provided ID to pick up the package but wasn't able to retrieve it. I went home and called Wayfair regarding the issue. The Wayfair representative called the UPS Store and they still wouldn't release the package. It had to be redelivered to my residence two days later. WORST SHIPPING EXPERIENCE I'VE ENCOUNTERED IN MY 54 years of living. Will NEVER utilize this establishment again!!!! read more

I want to like this place so bad but I have to say I'm constantly disappointed in the lack of service. Last time I popped in to mail a small package the woman behind the counter was helping someone make copies - and I'm talking individual, let's review each one before the next, sloooow copies. I, and another gentleman in line, must have waited ten minutes before she even looked up to tell us she'd be with us soon. I couldn't help but notice several employees in the back also ignoring us. Does only one person know how to work the register? I love Del Ray and I like the location of this UPS, but I'm just never impressed. Meh. read more

This UPS store is well stocked, well run, and goes way above and beyond the service one could reasonably expect. Unfortunately, I discovered it only as I was preparing to move out of state - better late than never, right? I suspected that some of my book boxes might not fit into the shipping cube I had arranged, and that I would need to ship them another way. Anticipating that the boxes would be too heavy for me to handle, I called the store to see if UPS would pick up. The answer was, not unless I had an account. Too bad! However, in the next breath, the manager asked my address and offered to come pick up the book boxes himself if I would call when they were ready. A few days later, that's exactly what he did. He turned what could have been a headache into a quick, painless operation that worked out perfectly. I felt very grateful for the unexpected help. If and when I move back to N. Virginia, this is the only UPS store I'll be patronizing. read more

SHORT VERSION: The owner here is incredibly rude, lies to customers, curses at customers and staff, and violates franchise rules. See other reviews about the owner. HOWEVER, the hourly staff are generally VERY courteous and attentive. As long as the owner isn't there, it's a convenient location and a generally safe bet. Also, beware the RAVE reviews from paid professional reviewers (Like Morgan with 125+ reviews, ALL POSITIVE, from Yokohama Japan) LONG VERSION: I hope this gets read, as it's the only BAD review I've ever done. There are a good many other reviews on here about how rude the owner of this franchise is... but yelp has buried them and they're not easy to find. First, about me. I am in a new position wherein I work remotely from home or, more often, from the Swings Coffeehouse around the corner on Monroe. Subsequently, I sometimes need services like glossy printing, shipping etc. I live one block away on Windsor. First, the staff here are usually very friendly, if sometimes evidently not well trained. I have managed multiple retail franchises for many years in the past, and was a Franchisee engagement trainer for a large Franchiser. I never blame a poorly trained employee... I blame the management / Franchisee. The owner of this Franchise is a local woman I've seen around. She can usually be seen rushing around the back of the store cursing under her breath and being generally snotty to her young staff. I'll describe the last visit; I arrived at 6:15pm on a weekeday, 45 minutes before they close. I had a fast but expensive job to do, and I was confident I could get it done in 30 mins. I saw the owner closing the gate and asked if they were closing and should I come back tomorrow? She responded in a VERY "put out" overly dramatic way... "It's FRIDAY ya know.... we want to get out of here...." I thought to myself man, I hope the owner doesn't find out about this... I discovered later she WAS the owner. So I hurried up and finished and went up to pay the employee at the counter. She was in the back knocking things around and cursing. The Employee notified me he'd made an error and overcharged me by $6. He wanted to refund the first transaction and re-charge again. I was using a company card with preset daily usage and, as anyone who understand POS Systems and Credit Card / Payment systems knows... what happens is this: The CHARGE goes through immediately. If they do a REFUND, that will take several days to post. Then they charge again, which goes through immediately, so it looks like a double charge. Then I have to explain myself to my boss. I declined and I said look bud, I'm in here often enough, let's just call it even and you can get me the $6 back some other way. Give me store credit, whichever, I just dont want a doublecharge on this card. At this point the owner got involved. She was VERY put out by all this and she says: "look, just let us redo it. That charge hasn't even hit your card yet.. we're STILL OPEN so, the charge wont hit your card until we close. That's how it is everywhere. You dont understand, my accountant will charge me a fortune searching around for what happened to that $6 and I do NOT need that headache in my life, so just let us do this our way OK???" I'm not paraphrasing here... this is what she said. I know very well that this is NOT how it works, and I said to her "look, either you REALLY think that's how payment processing works, or you outright lie to your customers if you think you can get away with it, I don't know which is worse" And I showed her the payment already posted to my account on my smartphone. She went literally BANANAS. "I don't even KNOW how to issue store credit but if it will get you out of here I'll do it! This is going to cause me so many F*CKING HEADACHES I don't need this" ...."Asshole" just loud enough for me to hear it on her way back to start knocking things around in back again. I guess maybe she shouldn't have gotten into business for herself with that low of a tolerance for "Headaches". Right, I am the "Asshole" for not wanting to be lied to... Del Ray is a GREAT neighborhood... and she has a PRIME location...if this woman was literally ANYWHERE else she'd likely be out of business acting like this... and there are several other customers commenting on her being this way, just look. My advice to the owner: Sell before your bad attitude and histrionics bankrupt you. Then go home, and stay there. Abuse your cats or something... not customers who come in wanting to give you their business. read more

This UPS location is far and away the BEST one in the area. They are happy and helpful and pleasant to do business with. UPS stores are independently owned and operated come to find out so I'd much rather give my business to this store who appreciates their customers and knows how to run a successful business than the other UPS location in Old Town that seems to delight in being rude and unhelpful. read more

I needed to send some stuff to my mother-in-law, and these guys had all the packing supplies I needed. Then they found me the cheapest rate and were extremely helpful in getting everything sent. Quick, easy and convenient. I'll be back for all my mailing/shipping needs. read more
