I used to think that FedEx was one of the best run businesses in the United States. I regret to report that they are insistent on putting their sales out of business because of stupid policies, horrible hiring practices and customer service agents that can't speak English. I'm sure that Mr Smith is rolling over in his grave seeing all the changes better being made after he passed away. At one point in time, FedEx was way ahead of the rest of the delivery companies by having an app that would actually track the delivery truck a package was on. But, I guess that didn't work out too good because it got discontinued. I've had nothing but problems from FedEx over the past year. Missed deliveries, late deliveries (some as much as three or four days late), with very flimsy excuses. It seems to me that they're nice tight delivery system that put them so far ahead of everyone else, has cracked and nobody knows how to put it back together again. I would not recommend FedEx for any package delivery if there's another company available. Even the USPS seems to be doing a better job these days than FedEx. read more

I frequently take parcels and things to be returned to Amazon to this UPS and they are great! Don't go to the one in South Asheville and don't go to the one in West Asheville. Both awful! At the Merrimon UPS, young people hustle to help you in every way they can. I am 82 and can drive but can barely walk due to a permanently broken ankle. They will always very cheerfully come out to my care and bring the packages inside and process them for me. They are quick but not abrupt or impatient. All of them are kind, efficient and intelligent. And they don't hate you! LOL. They are also polite and helpful on the phone, I worked for IBM and actually taught classes (occasionally) on Customer Satisfaction.... they exemplify what that term means. Love this store! The staff is absolutely amazing. They greet you hello, are very helpful, and always thorough. One day a person came in with an item that had to be shipped from the post office due to the return instructions. After the staff member explained this, the staff member took the time to wrap up and package the item despite UPS, not being able to ship. This is an independently owned UPS store. So glad they're here. They even are open on Sunday until four! That is a rarity in this world! read more

Leaving three stars because most employees I've encountered at this location are quite friendly and helpful. However, today , on a sunday, when I went by to drop a return, the young woman at the front who was alone in the store, was actually quite rude. I chatted her up in a friendly manner and she didn't even crack a smile or give off any vibe other than just disinterested, if you don't like your job young lady, find something better, don't take out your misery on everyone else. read more

Probably the most unfriendly business I have experienced in quite some time. Snarky, snooty, disrespectful employees. It's good they are busy otherwise their bad behavior would sink them. I wanted to see a list of the available boxes and not wanting to hold up the line moved aside to review it. That's when I heard snarky #1 say to #2 " back of the line for him". Can you just imagine the audacity and disrespect towards a customer? I owned a retail business for 20 years. That young lady would be fired. Simply no excuse for that. read more

I totally love this place! I went to the UPS store the other day just to print up some copies of music. I generally know how to use a copier but I swear the one's at FedEx hate me and their costumer service is wack compared to this place! The machine was easy to use and you don't need a code or anything. When you're finished you simply tell the attendant how many copies you made and on what kind of paper and they will charge you at the end. The workers are very friendly and will help you with anything! They were also very efficient. I think 20 people had filtered in and out while I was there and it seemed like everyone came in happy and left pleased. The costumer service here is great whether you are coming in to get simple copies made or sending a big package across the world. You rock UPS! read more

I was pretty surprised to see such great reviews for a UPS Store to be honest. I wasn't sure what the deal was, but when I walked in to overnight a few documents and saw the long line I'll admit that I was a bit skeptical. However, these folks really hoof it back and forth to take care of as many customers as possible. Doing so while entering into one of the busiest mail seasons of the year is no small feat and they made it look like a cakewalk. It was amazing watching the four associates bounce between printing, to notary, to general shipping, to designing business cards, and more. They were seriously making it happen. I even headed back in after finalizing my shipping to add more documents to the package and it was no issue. They handled it with care and kept a smile on the entire time. Seriously a great experience. If I need other mail services or any sort of shipping while in AVL, these guys are now my go-to. read more

Employees here are generally less than intelligent, but PO boxes here are cheap and the hours are decent. This place came in handy when I lived at an apartment who has only a tiny mailbox. Prices aren't shabby either. read more

Had to ship a simple package from location A to location B. Young girl behind the counter is cute and the worst typer in a UPS store, but luckily very easy going, on HER part that is. It took her several attempts to correct sender and receiver address, this although it was already pre-written on the package. Then she tossed the first receipt (with all data on it!) into the bin and retyped it once more with a deep, heartfelt sigh (and with more mistakes). Life is hard, deary, isn't it? Ever heard of ID theft? Maybe not. Good for you, girl. Less good for a UPS store with tons of customer data available and depending on how they are being handled in safe hands or, well, then there are obviously also people like this. Man on man, not reassuring. Luckily a few typing mistakes should not stop a package from arriving, or that's what she thinks. Better try another shop with less cute but more mature and effective staff. read more

I drove a few miles out of my way to go here, and it was totally worth it. The two folks that were working tonight (6/11 5pm) were friendly, professional, and very helpful. I had a package to ship out, and was in there and out quickly - with better prices and customer service than any other similar business in the area. I ship out quite a few things every few weeks, and these two make it worth going a few miles out of my way to do my business with them. read more

Terrible customer service. Don't fall into the "convenience trap" of this store's great location and decide to use their services, or you will wind up paying for it. After failing to deliver a package on the date I had paid $5 extra to arrange for ahead of time, UPS shipping couldn't deliver my package to my home address at a time when I could be there to sign for it. Instead they told me to go and pick it up at the UPS Store on Merrimon, which I did. The UPS store insisted on charging me another $5 for the "convenience" of using their store to pick up my package, claiming that they were not part of the UPS system or responsible for UPS's failure to deliver to my home. When I asked them to clear up the problem with the local UPS shipping center, the assistant and then the manager told me that it was my problem not theirs. read more

I recently purchased a large painting while visiting Asheville. This UPS store packaged my investment better than any piece of art I have ever had shipped. It was packed in layers, protected perfectly, boxed correctly and best of all arrived quickly and without a problem or damage. They did an amazing job and I could not recommend them more. Came there first time and didn't have enough money and they told me to come back with 53-54 dollars and my drive there is 30 mins drive. So I came back and they messed up so expecting me to now pay 83 dollars when they told me it was 53. This place is messed up. They can't get the stuff together. read more

I was thinking of all the people who send packages for Christmas. You box things up carefully, then you place insurance on the gift to (1) make all who handle the package careful and (2) , just in case something happens, at least you can get another.But in today's world, not all are careful and insurance means extra money for UPS , UPS Stores and insurance companies .If something breaks along the way, you're mostly in trouble as they blame you and don't cover it. They say, you should have the UPS store pack it but they don't always pay that either and that costs a pretty penny.. what to do for birthdays and Christmas?We're working on an answer and we suggest you cover yourself carefully prior to shipping at UPS stores such as the Weaverville, NC the one I used and lost thousands. They claimed the 4"-5" Of packing and foam wasn't enough.I owned a company that shipped 20-25 boxes a day and certainly knew how to pack.We'll keep in touch on any positive news on how to get it their safe ,right up until Christmas. read more

Ok, they send your packages and the prices are average. However the service is less than satisfactory. Ever time I've gone to this store, they've been slow and don't know the answers to my questions. The woman who manages the store is less than friendly and never really seems to want to help you. It seems like her idea of customer service is making things easier on herself. When I go to send packages I think I'll start driving to one of the other locations just to avoid the sourness. read more

I've had a mailbox at this store for 7 years and have had great experiences with the staff and services. The store manager mentioned in another review is quite capable and is a hard worker, I'm not sure why someone would post something to the contrary; as for the other reviewer who said the staff was less than intelligent - not so, these are dedicated people who do a great job of packing, shipping and providing counter service. Most of the local art galleries and auction houses use this store for their packing and shipping needs, that should say a lot. read more

I had OK experience in the past with this franchise, but certainly not anymore. I started to ship a very expensive and fragile guitar with them. It was in a case but I wanted to see them pack it in a box. No! 'We'll get that done sometime before 6:00 tonight!' I was willing to wait if they were busy, but no. Just no. They wouldn't even bring out the shipping box they were going to use. So I'm suppose to leave a fragile instrument in an unlocked case with a bunch of 20 somethings including a guy who acted like he was in charge. I don't think so. The bill was going to be $160. I guess the owner doesn't care about the reputation of his or her business. I know this location won't get any more of mine. read more
