My daughter used UPS to mail me my $1500 pair of earrings . We learned first that UPS had damaged the package, and second that they had lost this valuable and sentimental piece of jewelry. Obviously we should have insured it. But I must say that 1) It was the attendant who packed up the item for my daughter and 2) the attendant did not ask my daughter whether she wanted to insure the package, a reminding prompt for insurance that other stores do. The people at this store were apparently nice to her and helped file a claim. But the foul-up of this UPS service is shocking, and equally shocking is that they would not make their incompetence right beyond the standard $100. Visited The UPS Store on Alps Road in Athens GA to return a couple Christmas gifts right before Christmas. The UPS store is ample inside and is located at a mini plaza mall. They have a friendly parking area. The whole town was busy but regardless how busy they were I was able to go in and out completing my transaction promptly because they had plenty of staff (approx 6 employees) and all of them were courteous yet to the point. On the website of UPS company, Google map and on the office door, the opening time of the office is mentioned from Monday to Friday at 8.30, but the first employee opened the door at 9.15 and the service started at 9.30. In this one hour, at least 10 customers visited the UPS office and left the place because the office was closed I had applied for fax service and went to the UPS office two days (Sunday and Monday) but after several attempts in those two days, both times they told me that the recipient's fax machine was down, I called the recipient and they said All fax machines in our office are on and working. So I went to Bel-Jean's downtown office and immediately faxed my document. I did not get any service to know its value. read more

I needed a Notary Public to stamp a document for my elderly mother with very limited mobility. I called the store and spoke with the manager, Andy. He was very helpful in problem solving my situation- it would be very difficult to get my mother into the store to sign in front of them. He suggested that when I arrive he would have someone come to the car and complete the transaction. When I arrived there were many people in a line that was snaking out the door and there was an unexplained lack of power to the store and some equipment in the store. There were three employees hustling to support the volume of customers. When I got to the cash register, I started to tell my story to the young man working and he said "I get it... I will walk outside with you". It was a 6 star customer service moment. It saved my mom from getting wet as I would have to wrangle her from the parking space in her wheelchair, find a curb cut, wait in line and then do the same maneuvers to get her back in the car. NEEDS More Employees! 2-Stars. Nice UPS Store, almost always super busy, sometimes very long wait. I've been here three times and on 2 occasions long line out the door almost and the only two or three staff people working but on other things and not on the line with 10 or 12 people. One gut who was doing passports had a long line too, looked overworked and was friendly to talk to. A lady who was chatting and talking to some other lady, and another guy scanning all the other boxes dropped off but not scanned. Seemed to me he could have waited on those and helped the people in line and then scanned the dropped off packages. Heck we all were waiting in line vs just leaving them in the bin. I wanted an expedited passport paid $300 a few years before covid, so pricing has gone up like everything else but excellent service. I have used this store a few times for notarizing, shipping, printing, etc and have been fortunate enough to have been helped by Andy. I asked him the last time if he is the store manager. He isn't, but it is rare to see an employee so cheerful with a line out the door. Each time I am there, he is smiling and extremely pleasant and helpful to customers. As the result of a new law, my Early Childhood students now have to have a background check that includes fingerprinting. The UPS store on Alps is the only option in the area. Thank goodness they were wonderful. It took three days to get 103 students fingerprinted so I got a good look at their operation over that time period. They were wonderful. Not only were they patient and efficient with my students, but I watched how they treated every customer who came in the door. They were quick to greet them the minute they walked in, very efficient with their services, patient with the problems they faced (a couple of major shipping challenges), and always kind. The UPS store was very helpful in providing me with a very quick and reasonable estimate to accomplish the task. Most specifically, Daniel, who went out of his way in a very timely manner to get me the information I needed to make the determination as to whether I could afford the cost of the chairs and the cost to ship. The worst customer service I have experienced in my life. I would give 0 stars if it was an option. I had to fax some medical records to my doctor. I walk in, and give over my file and they replied, "you know it's 0.75 cents a page right?" Seeing as how I have no choice, I told them it was fine. They started scanning and the girl asked, "why can't you just email these?" It was not an option for me because that was the format they were given to me, and I have an appointment the next morning at 10. Then she tells me it will take a while, so I should leave and come back. We go get lunch and come back. The same girl says that it isn't sending through, and "she didn't want to waste my time." I ended up having to drive the records to the doctor on the same day that was over 1.5 hours away while sick because of their incompetence. read more

I shipped 2 very large packages from this UPS store a month ago and sadly had a fair amount of things broken and/or missing in the boxes. While this part was terrible, I was so impressed with Brianna's help and the other managers in filing the claim with UPS corporate. UPS corporate was the WORST about getting back to me and made us run around in circles but it made it a lot easier feeling like the local branch had my back. Most of the staff is not friendly and some will ignore what you say. So if you are looking for rush in and rush out then I guess its ok. Other than that if you are looking for a friendly employee that doesn't rush you this is not the place to go. They do cogent finger printing though and are the only place that does in Athens. read more

I needed a notary, and access to a computer and printer, in a hurry. I walked in and was finished immediately- because they had everything I needed! Brianna notarized my document quickly and correctly. I had been to my bank- who was usually wonderful- who had a lazy unprofessional notary who didn't know how to execute a document (??) and that's how I came to find this wonderful place. Brianna didn't even break a stride between notarizing and showing me a computer and printer. I got it all done in one place and the afternoon became a sunny place again. Don't hesitate to go here. I've always liked this place. There's usually some happy white guy who helps me when I walk in. They package stuff, send faxes, etc. It is pricey--that might be the reason they're always saying things like, "you know this is $10 per roll" because if they don't and they ring somebody up for $43 in packing services then the customer freaks out. I'm headed in today to have something notarized. When I called they immediately told me the price of everything. It's definitely a little curt but I wish everybody did that. Maybe it's because I'm from New York where customer service is more about just getting everything done as competently and as quickly as possible and not so much about how nice anybody is. I guess if you want somebody to be nice, a chain isn't the way to go. In any case, if you need expensive crap done because the world is a giant ball of bureaucracy and you have to get the kids by 6--this place will do that. read more
