This place should go out of business. The hours are totally skewed, because the employees come to work and leave work whenever they feel like it. This means that I walked about half an hour with a heavy box only to find that it was closed. It SAYS it opens at 10am online. Are there any hours on the door? No. The homeless man outside was kind enough to tell me that the employees have informed him they open "sometime between 10 and 11"--in other words, when they bloody well feel like waking up in the morning. Apparently, they also have been known to take lunch between 1 and 3. I had to walk all the way to the other UPS location on Shattuck. The very nice, TIMELY guys in there told me that the Telegraph location is notorious for being incredibly inefficient, and that they give the Shattuck location a bad rep. TLDR: This location sucks. The posted business hours are irrelevant, though the alleged weekday closing time is 7 PM. Prologue: Yesterday afternoon at 6:30. Lights off, doors locked. Benefit of the doubt extended to limited summer hours, or possible employee emergency. The scene: 5:50 this afternoon, having left work early to make this shipment. The lights are off, but the door is still open and we enter. A lone employee waddles out of the backroom and declares "I'm closing early." "Did you close early yesterday?" "Yup." "What time are you going to open until tomorrow?" "Until I feel like closing." "Are you going to be closing early again?" "Probably." "Oh okay, thanks. (But not really.)" I suppose this review is specific to one incompetent employee who didn't even have the foresight to post a fake summer schedule. I've had another brief but not unpleasant experience dropping off a pre-labeled package to a girl here who was reasonably helpful, and even let me leave a package that I hadn't finished sealing. I swear the people who work here are bitter with their lives. It was my first time sending a package to be shipped, so I'm obviously unfamiliar with the process. The guy working there with the beanie was the most rude and mind numbingly slow person. He thought I was just being a frustrating customer when I was asking questions, and when I asked for clarification, he said things in a slower way as if that was to help me understand. Obviously if someone doesn't understand your explanation you try to phrase it in a different way.... Trying to brush off all encounters, I paid and left as quickly as I could because there is no reason to be getting as mad as he was for someone asking questions. I have a tendency to repress bad memories so the receipt is no where to be found... Which is bad on my part. The person I was sending a package to never received it and when I called this location they said, "they can't help me without a receipt and no one ever leaves without one in UPS." So if you happen to lose your receipt somehow, remember you're SOL because they will adamantly refuse to help you. Oddly enough they ask for your phone number and email address AND home address and despite all that personal info, you STILL can't get a damn tracking number. They are obstinate and refuse to help and can't give any explanations further than they poor manual of phrases they receive from their 3 hour training. Don't bother with these incompetent people and the things that are important and need to be shipped. If these people hate their jobs so much I can only imagine how their managers treat them, yikes. I have had to two very quick visits to this UPS store and have found no issues worth complaining about. The young many who has helped me both times is so nice! He has taken my packages and taken care of the packaging without me having to really say anything, except when I asked about delivery times. He also made small talk with me while I waited since I was alone in the store.Furthermore, even though I have only been in twice, on my second visit he remembered me! I'm usually a little nervous when sending things out because I'm not sure about payments, delivery times, or other such logistics but he talked me through everything! I guess I have come in at regular hours around 11am both days and I have never had an issue with it being closed. But that's also because I have not been in the store in those early morning hours. I much prefer this to the USPS store on Durant. That place is ALWAYS so so crowded and the people at the register are always rushing you and are not nearly as nice as the help at UPS. read more

Ok how can I go wrong just making some copies right? Wrong! Firstly dude tried to hover over me as I printed..till I asked if it was ok if I dealt with my business on my own please.. And then there were no tools or paper clips etc available on the counter. And then luckily I have some knowledge of PC's..as it wasn't easy to print from their pc.. And then even tho I had multiple random items to pick up (my lunch bag,coke bottle, phone,purse, copies) he insisted i walk to the other end of the counter to pay..hmmm Trust me this place looks legit..but it's not..the man behind the counter tried to charge me $16 dollars for $4.40 copies (@$0.11x 40 copies) And then he stated $3 for computer usage..I mean who even does that any more??? Even then it doesn't compute to a whopping $16.. I got away with paying $9 for something that should have been $5 max..if I'd have had cash I would have slapped a five down and left. Bad experience all around. I called in advance about fingerprinting services, they said in an hour would be fine. When I got there the guy said 'oh, you're the one that called'. 'I ran a software upgrade to try to fix (yesterday's problem) and it did not work'. This was strike three for the place. I've found it to be a shabby outlet with unreliable hours and surly disinterested and non-committal employees. You can probably already tell from the other reviews but AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I've been here a few times because friends either had to pick up a package or have something mailed out. Every single time has resulted in super inefficient service. Sometimes we don't even get what we want done! Today, my friend had to pick up a package that didn't get delivered at home. Even though there was only one other person in the whole store ahead of us, it still took us a good 15-20 minutes to get helped. This happens every time and I really don't understand HOW. I repeat. Perused yelp for the nearest mailing/shipping store and this was it. 2 star rating be damned, I thought I'd give it a try, as convenience ruled out any potential grievance. I was pleasantly surprised with the store; a lone employee manning the floor, which was neat and tidy. I went at an off hour, so there was no one there and my mailing needs were promptly met. After talking briefly with the guy helping me, it seems that a change of management marked the end of an epoch of poor customer service. I usually don't leave reviews, but I also usually don't have such a terrible experience at a store. This was my first and last time shipping anything from here, the worker was incredibly rude worker and condescending, profoundly sighing during the encounter, seemingly unaware of what he himself was trying to say, charging me for every part of my shipment without explaining the costs or even attempting to explain what the fees were for. WAYYY OVER PRICED! No customer service whatsoever! I went to return my ATT modem, the guy can not work this computer right and cant find my account number. I had to call ATT and they sent me a label by email because he could not find my account in the system. Then to add insult to injury he wants to charge me $3.50 to print out a label! What the??? I asked him for a discount because he could not work his machine right. He said "I dont care, I just get paid hourly". Of coarse that makes alot of sense right? Very rude customer service, I went in to send a return. I was unsure if return was prepaid or not, as it came with a return label but did not specify if it was prepaid, so when I got in there the first thing I asked them was if it was or if I needed to pay. They proceeded to raise their voice and tell me that the label the package had was not prepaid and they could not send it. Acted angry and annoyed as if I had demanded they take it, rather than simply asked if I need to pay for it or not since I wasn't sure. They then wanted to see the instructions for the label, I was explaining to them that I didn't have the instructions on me when these employees just walked away from me while I was still talking just left me standing there with the words coming out of my mouth and walked away to talk to a different customer. Extremely rude thing to do to anyone, specially a customer who was in no way demanding you do as they say, simply asking if the label the return had was enough or if I needed to pay to send it. Left with package and went to Postal Annex close by, I asked the staff there the same question and was nervous I would get another angry response back, instead the man behind the desk was very polite and professional, told me that the package was indeed not prepaid and let me know my options for sending it. I paid for it and went on my way satisfied with the friendly service. I am just going to preface this by venting that the South Asian man that works there with a middle part that wears a silver bangle is by and far the worst person I have ever engaged in a customer service encounter. So if you're reading this, or management is reading this, THIS GUY HAS TO GO. I have no idea how he got the job in the first place; I'm going to assume there wasn't even an interview process because honestly I think the gentleman that sleeps in the little nook outside the store at nights could do a better job than this troll. How he ever even managed to get a job, any job, is beyond me. Now for the story. I just walked in with the intention of buying a cardboard delivery box. Simple, simple request. I come in and I'm the only customer in there. The guy looks up at me from counting money, and I tell him I'm looking for a box and if he could show me what sizes there are. He asks me what I'm talking about. Slightly taken aback, I repeated that I needed a box to deliver something. He asks me what it's for. Not that it's any of his business, but I told him anyway. He looks at me quizzically, then goes back to counting money. I was...so confused. After being ignored for about five seconds, I then cleared my throat and asked him if he could show me the box sizes. Without looking up, he tells me that there are lots of box sizes. At this point, I'm going from shocked to pissed. I tell him that I'm kind of in a hurry, and that I just need a box. He tells me "I'm going to finish this first and then I'll help you. Just wait." Still seething (but because I really need the box), I stand and wait. FOR TEN MINUTES. WATCHING HIM COUNT MONEY. In that time, another lady comes in and asks for some help, and he dismisses her just as offhandedly. Finally I ask if there's management. Again, without looking up, he just says "No." THEN HE HAS THE TEMERITY TO LOOK ME IN THE EYE AND SAY "Look sir, why are you bothering me?" I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE WORDS...I-WHAT?!?!? I'm spluttering out of anger at this point, and I finally manage to choke out "Excuse me, I'm a customer?!?!?" And he says "I know you're a customer. If you're in a hurry and you want to leave, you can go that's up to you". Needless to say, I stormed out of there right after that, but not before telling him he was the reason why I left. I wish I could have said a lot more, thinking back. As long as this man works there, this place is to be avoided at all costs. No joke. What me and everyone else below me are saying is 100% TRUE. I was a frequent customer of this location until recently the owners/employees lied about their services and mistreated the customer. They refused to mail my package via USPS, saying that they needed to keep the store in business so would I (the customer) please use FedEx. When I refused, they raised their voices, yelling at me to "Go to the post office !" That's right - I did go to the post office, and I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau. I have had such a terrible time trying to deal with this store that it is worth it for me to write out a review, even if I am reiterating every other post on this page. I attempted to mail a package using 2 day shipping methods. Ultimately, my package got "lost", and the store told me they had no idea where my package was. So after a few days, it was delivered to the wrong place, and ultimately I tracked it down after hours and hours on the phone with this UPS store and corporate. I have been attempting to get my money back since November 2016. I would have never sent the package if it wasn't going to arrive in 2 days because it was a voter ballot. The lost package resulted in my sister not being able to cast her vote. Anyways, I have probably spent upwards of 10 hours trying to get reimbursed and they just do not care enough to get me my money back when they failed to complete the task I paid them for. Update: I had a terrible experience with one of their new personnel (since gone). We received a package marked URGENT -- KEEP REFRIGERATED! with a large orange label. She left it on the back counter, underneath a pile of papers, for over a week, as I came in every day looking for it. More than $200 in medications ruined. Once she found it she kept saying she would ask the owner to make it right, but despite my increasing insistence wouldn't say who the owner was nor how to contact him or when she could reach him. She finally said the owner had extended our box rental for a year to make up for it, but that never got into their system, and we started getting billed for the rental. Finally, a regional manager covered the store one day and in a few minutes fixed the problem. For a few days we got notified when new packages arrived, but that has stopped again. Whoever owns this store (and I was about to go to the city and look them up) could care less about quality of customer service. We continue using the store for our mailbox only because it's the business address our customers know, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for any reason. ====== Earlier review: Until a few months ago, this store was run by people who didn't keep the full daytime hours and shut down for 10 minutes every two hours to move their cars. Needless to say, this made it inconvenient to get my mail there. (I receive mail for my Web-development business http://www.yelp.com/biz/your-attention-please-communications-berkeley at this UPS store.) Now, however, there is new staffing. The worker tried to charge me $200 for a tiny package and acted like I was crazy when I said it was ridiculous then he realized the dimensions he entered was wrong, he then told me the package would get there on next day delivery if I paid extra (which I did) and a week later it still had not arrived. I might as well have used USPS and saved my time and money. On top of that, when I called to ask for the tracking number the lady I spoke to had already spoken to the employee I originally complained to and was extremely rude rushing through the tracking number that THEY failed to send through an email. This place is such a joke. I got a business mail box here to separate my personal life from my work life. Despite website hours claiming an 8.30am opening time, and hours posted on the door claiming an 11.30am opening time, this place seems to open and close at random hours of the day. Completely unprofessional! Never mind the slew of homeless people using their exterior wall as a napping spot... Due to employees coming and going as they please - opening and closing whenever suits them - the mail carriers aren't able to deliver and pickup from this location in a timely fashion. I just walked into this location. There was no one there. The door was wide open and when I shouted hello repeatedly no one came. I even walked and looked in the back. Packages were sitting out in the open. I called a few times to see if the sound of the phone might bring someone to help me. That didn't work either. I left and didn't leave my package. If I could, I would give them a 0. I called a few times to get a hold of someone who could provide more info about a package that I dropped off to be mailed out immediately, but to my surprise was never received. Any logical person would think to start their search for their package where they first dropped it off and work from there with all the shippers and carriers that may have had it at one point. The person who picked up the phone was yelling at me and did not seem to understand that nature of my call. It's sad because I've shipped things from here in the past with no problem and was not even thinking that it was their fault for it not arriving... just was seeking more info about where my package could possibly be. If the manager is reading this, I highly suggest that you train your person who works afternoons (Tuesdays) to be more receptive on the phone. He had a very difficult time managing a simply request for an email for a manager and also customers coming through the door. In the middle of a sentence after having to repeat myself several times he literally put down the phone and just started to talk to someone else. I believe my expectations as a customer is basic. I came to you for a service, it was not fully completed so calling your company to request further info about a package that was never received is a normal request. 1 star for bad customer service, rude employees who yell at you before they even hear your request, and for not being able to follow up with a request for further info. read more

The employees here never open on time (9 am), I have waited outside with other people from 9-9:25 until the point where I would be late for class on campus at 9:40. When they are open, they move slowly, a short line of 2 people can still take 10-20 minutes. The only plus is that unlike USPS, they don't charge you for using their packing tape to stick on your mailing label. read more
