This is THE WORST location for UPS ever. They are unhelpful and obviously have muuuuch better things to do than their jobs or in the very least ring you out. Make sure to get a receipt because I'm fairly positive that THIS is where things go missing. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced at a UPS or a USPS location! (Actually, the people who run the counter at the USPS in Des Peres are some of the most lovely people you can encounter in public!) I'm not a big profit center for this UPS Franchisee. I'm a small business owner and I drop packages off packed and labeled, so they only receive a fee from UPS for scanning my package. I drop off 3-4 times a week, and have done so for at least a decade. Today, I dropped off one of my regular packages, a tuck and fold shipping box. I usually tape the folded in area, but had missed taping this one. I needed a ONE INCH piece of tape, and asked if they could help. It was a $1 charge for them to "tape" the package. This UPS location is very close by and today I didn't grab my wallet on the way out the door. I did not have one Dollar for a one inch piece of tape. They stood firm on the $1 charge, absolutely would not just put a small piece of tape on my self closing box. I completely understand charging $1 to tape a box. I would be THRILLED to pay $1 for them to tape up a regular box, one with 4 flaps. But this was a tuck and fold shipping box, they see me there several times a week, and it wouldn't have cost them one full cent to add a one inch piece of tape for me. I believe they receive $0.50 to scan every one of my boxes, so they don't make much money on me. But they have lost more than $1 on me, tomorrow alone, not to mention the holiday season. I will use the nearby UPS drop box from now on, or use USPS. Employee turnover is a good way to gauge any business/management team, and the turnover of employees at this location is high, so between that and reading these reviews, this location proves itself to be run by someone who has no idea how to run a team or maintain a customer base. They act like you should know about all the pricing and services offered, explain things with such a cocky and condescending tone and overall give me a huge sense of anxiety. Horrible customer service. The manager or owner charged me $1 for a piece of tape, on my first visit to this location, which was an Amazon return. Amazon clearly states the return is free and the item does not even need to be in a box when dropped off at UPS. Today I had 4 items ready to be returned to Amazon. I packaged and taped them up prior due to my odd experience previously. The same man told me he would not return my four items and I would have to pay him to repackage or send separately. The Amazon label had all four items grouped together. He would not help unless I paid. His advice was for me to call Amazon. I did and Amazon confirmed this man is not following the correct protocol. Shipping and packaging is free regardless. I've never, ever had an issue with Amazon returns at any UPS locations other than this one. I highly advise another location. This is a scam! Stopped by this location bc I was in the area already. Normally I use the Town and Country location, which has the most friendly and helpful staff. I brought in 2 packages with scanning labels to return to Amazon. The one box hadn't been opened at all. It was delivered in somewhat beat up condition but was clearly never opened. They wanted to charge me to put a tape across the box and I told them I received it this way. My other package was also in a cardboard box that I thought was delivered this way. The girl told me they could not guarantee that either unless I wanted to purchase a bag for $4? So I thought I was bringing in 2 Amazon returns for free with the labels but that was not the case. My Town and Country store bends over backwards for their customers. I do all of my shipping through them bc of their service even when it costs more than the Post Office. Do not recommend the Des Peres location unless you want to be aggravated! read more

I had to ship two hand-held medical devices back to my company. They were each in custom made boxes and I had preprinted labels from my company. I asked the gentleman if he would mind putting one small piece of tape on each box. He said well I have to charge you $1 a piece for each piece of tape...or you can buy a roll of tape and just take it with you. I thought he was kidding and I saw that he wasn't. Really I asked? He said he is constantly asked all day long for just one piece of tape and it adds up. I paid it and left my packages but in hind-sight I wished I would have said no thanks. I thought about shipping him a box full of shipping tape so he can quit charging people for one piece of tape. (If I had no packing materials or four sides of a box needed taping I would understand. I needed a piece of tape about 4" long on each box.) I prefer friendly customer service. read more

Agree with the other reviews here. I had a self-closing box. He (presumably the manager) insisted that he couldn't accept it unless I paid $1 for them to add tape. Additionally, I've gone several times to ship expensive returns and each time they argue with me over giving me a receipt, telling me my pre-printed return label is my receipt and I can track it that way. I insist on getting a receipt showing I gave it to them at their store. Glad I do, reading these reviews! This is shady. No store should refuse to give you a receipt. They won't get my business again. read more

I ship things to my daughter away at school from this store almost weekly. Well, I guess I did anyway. Today I bought a box there. Came in with my own tape (as not to pay for a packing fee). I was told I needed to stand outside of the store to put my things in the box. I felt like I was joking at first. I packed up my box and I went back inside and told him I will never ship something from the store again. I'd rather give my mail to the Postal Service than be told I have to go outside of the store to fill the contents. Their reasoning was that they offered services of packing for me. Now the store will lose a lot more than a packing fee as I took my box with me and left and will not go back again. I have multiple children that will need things sent to them to college and I refuse to use this location, or any other location UPS to mail packages. This is awful customer service and kind of a joke. I bet the franchise owner doesn't know about this. Or if he/she does, didn't think through that one. My wife worked with the owner to process a return to amazon. He wasn't very helpful and was rude. He stated the return wasn't packaged properly, even though Amazon stated it didn't need to be packaged. When my wife asked if he had spare cardboard or paper laying around so she could reinforce it, he simply said "you want me to package this for free?" Bad attitude. I came in to return my Amazon return which states that the UPS store packages it and sends it for no cost and the man demanded I pay a dollar each package for him to tape them. I brought them in boxes out of courtesy but Amazon said it wasn't necessary. I will avoid this location at all cost. He was irritable and unkind. read more

Do NOT drop off packages to this location. After being refused a receipt, I emailed the owner. His response "providing a receipt would put my store and its employees at an increased risk of being held accountable should something happen to that package while in UPS's possession". There are two, The UPS Store, very close by, 101 W ARGONNE DR KIRKWOOD, MO and 9909 MANCHESTER ROAD WARSON WOODS. Both stores will give you a drop off receipt and will be accountable for your package! read more

Horrible customer service. I have been waiting for 17 days to have a package shipped. Called again and was told it would ship out on Monday, which will make it 20 days sitting there. Plus the price is outrageous- a 19x19x19 in package at 10 lbs total shipping weight is $71.40 from MO. to DE. Made a purchase from an online auction that did not ship so I had to make the arrangements myself at the closest ups store. UPS should really monitor their stores. This is really bad. read more

I recently shipped a hand made item to raise money for a family who lost a service member in combat in Afghanistan. The owner of the UPS Des Peres store accepted the item, wrapped it and shipped it. When it arrived the item was destroyed. I had taken out $500 insurance on the item. It was devastating. I went back to the store and the owner would not honor the insurance claim. He knew what this item was for yet he said he was not liable. I had luckily saved my receipt and started up the chain with UPS. I discovered each location is locally owned. I turned in my claim to the Company UPS who discovered the packing did not follow UPS packing guidelines and the store owner was liable. Upon presenting him with the new information he again declined I continued with UPS, the main Company, and found Company representatives in Salt Lake City who agreed to honor my claim. Apparently the copy of the shipping agreement the owner had was different than mine. He claimed he had written on my receipt he couldn't promise the package would arrive safely. He also is not suppose to ship any hand made art. Amazingly he said he didn't know that. I paid him $90 to ship my item only to have it destroyed. UPS sent me a check for the insurance claim and the entire amount was donated to the Navy Seal Foundation in honor of the service man who gave his life. Go somewhere else to ship your items. If you use this store save your receipt. Although it just might not be the same receipt the owner has. I feel this individual has zero moral fiber and is not worthy of your business. Again thank you UPS the main Company for doing the right thing. read more
