Arsh Gill, the notary demanded that I physically sign the identification document in front of her even though I appeared personally, with photo ID -- US Passport -- and the identification document did not require that I physically sign in front of the notary. She expected me to return with a new unsigned document. So I verified the criteria and here's what I found. Question: do I always have to sign in front of the Notary in California? Answer: No, you do not always have to sign in front of the notary in California. Wow, this has to be the worst UPS I've ever been to! People here are never helpful. The only reason I come here is because it's the closest UPS to where I live. Today I came to drop off a package forgetting to print the pre-paid return label. I was hoping the woman manning the desk could help me print it because I was the only customer there. But she told me to use the computer to print it. I said sure. Then she informed me that it'd be over $3 to print one page. I was shocked because I've printed stuff at FedEx before. It costs less than 50 cents. I shook my head and walked away. She didn't even care. I'm completely speechless about the level of customer service at this store. Great experience today at this UPS store. The agent couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. I was in and out in a minute or two. I had some difficulty finding it tucked away in a small strip in the Watergate Shopping Center, but the Watergate Market is highly visible and UPS is in a building just to the right (east). The load of one-star Yelp reviews that are full of hate date back to 2022 and before, all the way 2016. It's probably time for Yelp to clear some of those out. read more

I usually only go to UPS stores to drop off Amazon returns. These are very quick "in and out" transactions. UPS just has to scan the barcode I show them, take the item and give me a receipt. Unfortunately, things are only this easy when no other customers are at this store. For this reason, I try to only go to this UPS store when I either know I have time to wait around or during off peak times (9-10am on a weekday). I've found that even when more than one person is working at this store, they all only help the same one customer at a time regardless of whether there is a long line etc. I've actually been in line here waiting while multiple employees chit chat with a single customer instead of helping the next person, i suppose that is nice if you're the customer they're chatting with but I wish they were more efficient. Because the job gets done eventually and they've never been rude, giving 3 stars. read more

Yeah service here sucks a big one. The only reason I go here is because it's the nearest one to where I live, so I tolerate it. I went in Thursday to do an Amazon prepaid return. I walked in and nobody was there. I went behind the counter, into the back looking if anyone was there. Nada. I could have just as well grabbed a UPS box and raided the stock of shipping supplies, or helped myself to other peoples' packages that were off to the side. I finally knocked on the closed door that said 'Employees Only' and heard a woman's voice saying they'll be right out. The transaction was abrupt. I said I had a package to return to Amazon. No hello, no apology for not being available, she just scanned my package, printed my receipt, told me to toss the package next to the heap of other packages, no thank you, no goodbye. I went to Aardvark notary on Telegraph in Oakland just 10 minutes away and they took care of me right away without an appointment. I've always had good experiences coming to this location. The staff was always friendly and the lines were never more than 3 people ahead of me. Granted I did a lot of amazon returns here and the staff never gave me a hard time. Parking can be tricky sometimes depending on the time and day that you go. Each visit never exceeded more than 15 minutes, which isn't bad compared to other UPS stores that I've been to. read more

I know from reading other reviews and from personal experience at this store that sometimes customer service can be inconsistent. However, when I recently went with a relatively complicated order of sending a stack of documents to Sacramento with a return label and envelope for the documents to be sent back to me after processing, Aman was super patient and helpful. It took a few minutes for us to get on the same page about what I wanted, but when we finally did, it was a breeze. As others have noted, notary services are sporadic and require you to call day of to verify the notary will be there, but that's true of many of the smaller UPS stores (go to the one in Piedmont for great notary services). Keep in mind this is a small locally run business and you may have to wait (no different than the post office, really). Other than that, I will continue to come here for my return drop offs and the occasional complicated mailing order. One star removed for opening a few minutes late. read more

Horrible service. I sent a package to Texas from here and the box got damaged in transit. They sent it back to me and lied saying that the person I sent it to said it was damaged. The person I sent it to never even received the package. I ask her about insurance claim and she doesn't give me a answer. She then says it takes six weeks to open up a claim and will probably take longer due to Covid 19. She said if I wanted to ship the items again I would have to pay again to ship them. I hate to follow the crowd, but these people suck and they lie. Came here twice trying to pick up a package. First time they told me it wasnt there. Checked with the shipper, they checked with UPS, UPS said it was at this store. I tried to call this store to confirm but they don't ever answer the phone. Calls just go to a full voice mail box. Went today to try to pick up my package again . Got there a few minutes after 2pm and they are locking their doors even though the sign says they close at 5pm and there is NO special notice for holiday hours. I knock on the door and a woman comes out. Telling me they can't look up my package because their system is down even though I just saw someone else exit with packages. She said they were closed. I pointed out they were closing earlier then posited regular store hours. Then she said she forgot to post holiday hours and that the owner told het to close early. Strangely upon my last visit one of the employees told me that for UPS packages I could not get a print out receipt and had to take a photo of my package. Interesting. I've had a mailbox at this store for a few years. The people working here are always very diligent and have definitely gone above and beyond to help me to my car with large packages, finding lost packages, etc. I've also mailed many things here and have been satisfied with the results. I also see these essential workers doing their best and multi-tasking to service clients during busy times. This is a very necessary service, especially now during COVID so I appreciate the team here so much!! UPS - Stop contracting this store! 0 Stars I knew better than to go back to this store a fourth time when all three of the previous times were so awful. But it's the one closest to my house and it was later in the day. I called repeatedly to get their email to send a doc to be printed. No answer, no answering machine. I tried finding it on their web site. Nothing. Entering the store, I remembered the familiar feeling of the feeling that having customers is a hassle, and they wish we wouldn't come to bother them. The young woman was rude as usual, unhelpful as usual, and then rude again, as usual. After then not being able to mail the package, I gotta admit I got pissed off. I did tell her that there is a reason they have such a low Yelp rating. It's a very good reason. The service at this store sucks. Why do people go into a service industry who don't actually have the mind-set to supply a service? Never ever going here again.
