I have printed things here many times over the past dozen years. I loved having a copy shop so close to my home. Recently I've noticed their prices have increased A LOT. It's exhorbitant to charge 30 cents for one copy on plain paper. And if it's printed from a digital file, 39 cents. If I'm only making one copy, fine. But if I need 500? Totally cost prohibitive. I can easily find copies for half and even a third of the price. I don't know what the problem is, copy central of el Cerrito, but you have lost my business. Stop gouging the people. read more

It's like a hole in the wall that you wouldn't expect to be such a good spot to bring business to! I have always used Costco for all of my photo prints - especially those I need really fast like tomorrow or same day prints so you could imagine how sad I was to learn that Costco was no longer doing that. I just needed four basic photos printed for a last minute gift so I searched through Yelp and crossed my fingers that one of the businesses would be able to print large photos on the fly... well Copy Central did not disappoint!! I arrived with my USB and less than 15-20 minutes later I had my much needed 12x12 and 8x8 photos in hand and they came out great!! This review is long overdue, but big shout out to Jake! I live far from my parents, and they needed help printing stuff out, scanning and prepping the documents to be mailed internationally. Jake took them through the process (with me on the phone), and made sure everything they needed was completed. After saying sayonara to my last printer, Copy Central became my go-to for my last-minute printing needs. I really like the convenience of emailing the files to be printed ahead of time and receiving a message when they're ready to be picked up. Their customer service is also top-notch, and their pricing is FAR more reasonable than UPS's. This particular one is also nicely located in a plaza where parking is not always difficult to find. I DIY my own wedding invitations to save money. After multiple attempts in other printing shops like Staples, copy Central was able to print my wedding invitations. They first told me they were unable to print my smaller A2 response envelopes, but they went above and beyond to figure it out. I dropped them off on Sunday and picked them up two days later. Super disappointed that this isn't a reliable place. Emailed my order for a simple one page print job of a quote I was going to get framed and gift to a friend. When I arrived to pick it up they had a hard time finding it. They finally located it and it was just lying on the counter with other stuff on top of it. They rang me up without showing it to me but before I paid I noticed a mark on it which ended up being a piece of dried up food. I pointed it out and asked that it be fixed and they just picked the crusty food off and continued to ring me up. The crusty food left a stain so I explained that I would like a new copy please. When they finished the new copy, I brought it home and realized they gave me the incorrect size of my order. Such a hassle for the simplest order ever. read more

Came here to print some photos awhile ago, I had the photos in my email. I had them print on a matted paper, two photos per paper. They had me cut the paper (to separate the two photos) with the paper cutter myself ... Is that normal photo printing shop practice ? We came back to talk to Manager Richard about the mis-printed 10-page, supposedly, double-sided but printed single-sided by mistake which we didn't catch the error until the next day at the meeting. We had a bunch of print jobs to do and we were in a hurry. See previous review I posted a few days ago about the tricky copy machine closest to the public computers. It resets itself after every print job even after only 2 seconds. Good news. We are happy Richard refunded $26.07 for the cost of the mis-printed 25 copies. At first, he offered us free re-prints of 25 copies of the 10-page document but the print job was time sensitive and the meeting was already over. Updated to give this place 5 star. I know there are cheaper places for 3 cents a page on University Ave but this place is very convenient, close to home and has excellent service, a nice countertop to gather/organize our printed material and another countertop with a long cutter to cut to desired length of what we need, not to mention the use of a stapler, paper clips, etc. We've been regular customers of this place and we will come back to this El Cerrito place again when we need to make copies in the future. read more

I've been using this place since I stopped going to Staples (Loved the staff but I'm boycotting them since they've started to offer postal services as an "added" service to customers without giving them the pay USPS employees enjoy) Although the place seems small they have the equipment to fill your photocopying needs including color xerox copies. They also have 3 computers that you can use and also print from them. The staff is helpful in guiding you through your needs--ie back to back copying, enlargements, etc. Although my needs have been simple so far I've noticed that they offer speciality orders like calendars, bookmarks (with your own photo and design), spiral bound copies and many more services. The prices are reasonable and they use the honor system by asking you how many copies you've made. Conveniently located in the same strip mall as YaoYa San, Ziping dollar store, Katanaya and Baskin Robbins. read more

These guys are super helpful and sweet! Ever since I moved to SF from Texas, I've missed that laid back hospitality and service where people take their time, are patient, friendly, and understanding. I felt like I was back at home at this Copy Central of all places. I visited a couple of other copy centers around Berkeley that were really crowded, grumpy, and hectic, but Richard Quevedo was super patient and understanding with me and the four other clients there at the time, and made sure to get everything right even though I'm an amateur. A LONG LOST GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE I stopped in Copy Central of El Ceritto location today (06/16/2012) to price the cost of ordering new business cards and company letterheads stationary. The clerk who was definitely inappropriately dressed for business informed me that he could not help me. He informed me that the manager wasn't around and that I would have come back next week, because "only the manager handles those thing." I felt unwelcome in the store and the clerk wasn't interested in contacting the main office to gather the information I needed. It seems to me that customers are the main reason why Copy Central is in business today, however if the staff are untrained in handling normal business transactions and allowed to dress unprofessionally, then time will only tell how long they will remain in business. read more
