Went to pick up an online order that was supposed to be free for store pickup (it was an item that I didn't want it to be stolen and had an option for local pickup). The older employee, Tom, tried to charge a holding fee. When I explained it should be free, he said, "If you don't want to pick it up, then don't," and threw my package in the back even though I relayed it was an expensive item. Went into this store and they would only sell me a brown corrugated box, would NOT give me a small and medium UPS box that I needed without showing them the label. How can I create a label before I box the stuff up? Rude guy that owns the place, if it wasn't for Amazon returns the place would not exist. This was my first time at this shop and most likely my last. I was really disappointed by the customer service here. The owner, Tom, did a good job wrapping my package (hence the two stars) but both he and the employee were rude and very passive aggressive about helping me out. I was sending out my daughter's prized possession to be repaired and wanted to make sure it was wrapped well. I have never used their service to wrap packages, and usually I do it by myself just for peace of mind. I asked if I could wait while they wrapped it and it really upset them. They kind of scoffed about it. I recently experienced theft and am a little more cautious lately and didn't think that it was an unusual request. I asked about it because I was so uncomfortable and Tom said that it implies that I don't trust them. I let him know that It wasn't personal but I found it very odd. I wished him a happy holiday and left but I was shocked about how I was treated. I'd recommend going elsewhere. The way that I was treated certainly did not make me feel any more like I could trust them and I am very uncomfortable with the whole experience. The owner Tom said well, if you don't trust anyone, you should just package it yourself. When I went there, I was under the assumption that I could as I didn't realize that they would do it for me. The item that I dropped off is expensive for us and I was nervous in general about the thought of sending it out. The employee said to the owner, okay, we need to wrap the package and the owner said okay just put it over there and I'll do it. He was in the middle of chatting with a friend in the back area. The employee then said, "no, she'd like it packaged now so she can watch" in a tone of voice that made me feel like I had done something wrong. And then Tom was like okaaayy and then reluctantly wrapped the package. I have worked in customer service before and I am just dumbfounded. A little pleasant customer service experience would have went a LONG way especially during this holiday season. 2020 for ya! read more

--WORST UPS LOCATION-- The owner Tom offers the opposite of customer service. Yes, this guy is that bad. I came in less than an hour from closing with 6 big heavy boxes. UPS app recommended to have store scan the barcode. Mundelein UPS owner asked me to email pdf but that wasn't working either. I kindly asked if I could email pics of barcode and that's when the extra rude attitude began. I went home, printed labels for the owner and returned. I mentioned that it would have been nice if he would have at least tried to use the barcode pics. That's where he went off, raising his voice for me to get out of his store -- yelling that I'm giving him "attitude." Did he just not want to process 6 big heavy boxes at the end of the day? I also asked him if I was being singled out because I could not come up with a reason why he would not take my money and process the shipments.. I tried to reason with him but he was irrational. I've been going to the Mundelein UPS for years and this man is always unhappy and rude. UPS corporate is useless. You cannot even get in touch with a human. UPS's system that eliminates communication enables horrible service at locations like Mundelein. I went to the Palatine UPS. What a difference. Gave me a cart. Helped with the door. I'm not sure what it is about this place but the workers including the owner are so rude and act like you are actually doing them a favor by visiting their establishment. Honestly, if you don't like your job then don't work there; there's probably plenty of people that would be happy to work here that are out of jobs. Short of writing this review, after I got in my car I almost came back in to tell you this in person because I honestly can't stand coming here and think I'll have to start driving a little further for UPS business. I have a small business, so I end up shipping a lot of items out UPS. I have a particular location that I go to often if I miss the UPS Pick up for the daythat is closer to my business. I had to ship something out a couple months ago. I was on my way somewhere and this location in Mundelein was on my way. I stopped there and it was the most unfriendly staff I've ever encountered. I swear I would never go back there. I forgot about my encounter and again I had to ship something and it happened to be on my way. They same occurrence and again I say I will never go back there. The staff is the most unfriendly staff that I have ever met in my life they are so unhelpful and rude I can't imagine how their life outside of UPS. Not one single smile, hello, happy holidays... nothing. He did ask me if I wanted my receipt twice because they weren't listening to me the first time when I said yes. If you're looking for a nice atmosphere, UPS store, this is not the one. If you're just dropping something off, it will work. read more

Ugh every time I have to go into this store I cringe. They are so disorganized and there is literally stuff all over the floor and piled up in the back behind and on the counter. In fact there is barely enough room for them to walk one way turn around and walk back to the counter. I always wonder if my pkgs will actually get to their destination! Also they never have enough people working there, they are rude and grunt at you when you bring your packages in, and when you're waiting in line they act like you're not even there unless you make a move toward them or say something. Unfortunately they are the only UPS store around without having to go further out but that is what I'm going to do from now on. read more

Very rude staff. I wanted to ship two toys that required boxes. The employee told me I would need to pay $12 which is ridiculous when lots of boxes where laying around the store. Excellent Service! I had to send a computer (large Dell box type), monitor and some other equipment to Indiana. I was concerned about it getting to it's destination in working order. Tim, the owner, assured me that it would be packed carefully. When my friends recieved the box they were amazed at how well everything had been wrapped. I am thrilled with the service from this UPS store. The next time I need to ship something via UPS I will definitely go to the Mundelien store. read more

They wanted me to pay $3 for a Amazon return when the Amazon label clearly states that UPS will pack and ship my item for me on the return label and instructions. This is by far the slowest and most oddly run UPS store I've ever encountered. There is no dedicated drop off for Amazon packages which already have labels instead you wait in line with the rest of the people. Also the staff is not customer friendly at all they're very slow and do tons of back office work in front of customers just letting them wait in line. Horrible! TERRIBLE customer service and employee attitude!!!! Needed to mail several packages to different locations. Didn't even get all the packages out of my car when a younger man behind the counter Insisted I give him my phone number before returning to my car to get the rest of my packages (god forbid you come out and help me). Once I had everything inside we began the process and this employee quickly decided he didn't want to be helpful. I guess I had too many questions and complicated shipments! After a few awkward moments of q&a regarding the details of my shipments I ended up asking him if I had done something to offend him. He gave me blank stare at which point I said I would be taking my packages elsewhere and I didn't appreciate his attitude. Absolutely no appropriate response - no apology, no "let's start over", nothing. The owner was 5 feet away listening to the entire conversation and did NOTHING! Maybe this employee was his kid, I don't know but what I do know is I will NEVER go back to this store. BTW - went to the post office and paid half of what this store was quoting me. I needed to have something notarized and I called the Libertyville location, which is closer for me, but they didn't answer their phone (10 rings, midday) so I called this location. Someone answered right away and provided helpful answers to my questions. We drove to this location, which is out of our way, and were extremely pleased with the friendliness and efficiency provided to us during our transaction. It's definitely worth a few extra minutes in the car for a good experience! This is now our regular UPS store! read more

I wanted to personally thank Tom the owner. He went above and beyond trying to find my package one of his employees lost. Tom was excellent at returning my phone calls and I enjoyed taking time out of my day for myself to call him asking where my $296.00 package went. I was told by Tom one of his guys put the wrong tag on it and it went with my returned package somewhere else. Tom very nicely offered me to call around and try to track down my package that I trusted his store with. I asked Tom to file a claim though UPS and he kindly replied he would do that so I could get my money for the package he essentially lost. Did Tom take my information, no. Did tom file a claim like he promised he would- absolutely not. So here I am back at square one trying to figure out what to do. Since the store is privately owned by Tom UPS corporate needed him to let them know what happened so they can start an investigation. After countless hours on the phone and sending back receipts and paperwork someone at UPS finally realize there's a problem and was willing to help. Hopefully they will charge his store for my package that was lost or maybe even stolen. If The owner of the store is not willing to help you then they cannot be trusted. I will never use this UPS store again and will drive the extra few miles to ensure my package Or packages will be handled in a professional manner. read more
