Glad to have this W. 116th Street UPS Store as a UPS Access Point to direct my packages to when needed. In the past when I lived in Washington Heights, the nearest UPS Access Point wasn't UPS and their hours were inconsistent - driving me nuts. It's fortunately different here with UPS's own place. On the whole it's been easy, although on those occasions when you're watching them take them what seems a disproportionate time to find a package I'm not sure how organized the back is. If I could give this store negative stars I would.. my girlfriend stopped by there today to mail an ezpass tag to Staten Island. We're talking about a device that's 4" x 1.5"(approximately) and about several ounces. She stated that the clerk suggested the "priority mail" option and did not mention the less expensive options e.g. UPS Ground saver. The cost was $35.55 and I believe the tag is only worth about $20 dollars. I'm just thinking that the clerk shouldn't be steering people into the higher cost services unnecessarily. And please don't respond with the lame comment about how the UPS stores are independently owned and operated. After reading some of the other reviews about your poor service, I'm surprised you've managed to stay in business. I came here because I needed to ship back something I bought online. I walked in, and waited maybe fifteen minutes to get seen. And there was not line when I walked in. I had the boxed item on hand, and explained to the customer service rep what I needed. He weighed the item, packaged it, and billed me. I paid for the packaging and shipping, and was done. People, be careful when you buy things online and who the shipper is. I don't know about other cities, but FedEx tends to leave packages outside buildings, which tend to get stolen often. I did Bed Bath and Beyond a favor, and returned their item via UPS, not FedEx. While the customer service here can improve some (particularly on the timing), at least I can say that they actually care to deliver packages sensibly. read more

Don't waste your time! Had a horrible experience with the notary yesterday who according to other reviews is also the manager (older Indian man). This man doesn't understand his role as a notary. I went in there to get my signature notarized for some car insurance claim paperwork and he asked for proof of car ownership. Like WHAT? I didn't have it on me. I explained he is not notarizing my ownership for the insurance, my insurance knows my name owns the car because I'M ALREADY THEIR CUSTOMER (smh), THE NAME HOLDS A POLICY WITH THEM, they don't need you to verify that. What the insurance needs you to verify, ie notarize, is that I, the physical person in front of you, IS THAT NAME I'm claiming to be on these docs. They already have on file my name is owner of the car. I couldn't show him the title and registration he was requesting because for one, I didn't bring them, as THEY ARE NOT NEEDED, and two, the document was for my STOLEN vehicle. I physically don't have them. Despite his unfounded overkill request, I offered to show him the registration online from the DMV website, an OFFICIAL GOVT SITE and he REFUSED. Stating he needs to see physical documents. I called my insurance right there on the spot and they said the same thing I said!!! I walked out of there, Googled an actual notary, and guess what? GOT MY DOCUMENT NOTARIZED. SMH. This man is just incompetent, bitter, and angry-- offering the customers that walk in there nothing but the company of his misery. If only he knew how he made my bad day worse. I walked out & began to cry on the phone to my claim adjuster. You would think a legitimate business like UPS would actually reprimand this man after multiple poor reviews but they have completely dropped the ball here. Do something UPS! If I could give the rude asshats zero stars I would. I'm on a UPS several times a week. Boxes, lots of copies(when Staples it too far) and so on. Today I had ONE shipping label to make and the one and only printer needed a toner cartridge. Instead of doing this on the printer behind the counter he said I had to use the computers, starting at $3. He was very rude about it. I absolutely felt it was because I was white and he was black. Instead of causing a scene I'll make sure I never ever go back to that store regardless!! I'll make sure anyone I suggest a store to is not that one! Terrible customer service . Lazy workers . The app told me to pick up my package at this location which is far from me, I wasted an Uber since the ups worker told me it wasn't there. So the second time the ups app told me to go there and I decided to call so I don't waste money traveling , the rep who was working at 5:45pm on 9/25/2023 is terrible, I was yelled at to come to the location to check myself. As my closest location, I stop by often for package pickup and print jobs. Forewarned, they will lie straight to your face, say they never got a print job or that it takes 24 hours to receive an online print order. When you come at your scheduled pickup time the print job is usually not ready. In person, the owner who is very condescending Tried to convince me to "email the document to the store email" using their computers which is a minimum $3 charge to use. I clarified that I had the order number, receipt and document already on my phone. Once I pressed, another store associate found the order and clarified they could print it in an hour, magically. I've noticed the owner doesn't want you to question him, just take what he says as fact. On separate occasions, I went to get something notarized and the owner was multitasking on the phone and did not complete the document correctly. Again, wasting my time. If you want things done correctly the first time, do it yourself or try another location that actually has customer service. read more

UPS in NYC in general is a pain to deal with, as licensed stores tend to mark up the simplest of items/services to astronomical prices. However, this place wins the award for being the rudest UPS store I've ever had the displeasure of walking in to. I've come multiple times asking them to print out a pre-paid label for me, spend the money on printing (somewhere else, because I don't trust the cleanliness of anything at this UPS and they gouge you on computer access prices), only for them to stick a thermal label on the package as soon as it gets in their hands. And when I politely ask if they will just print the label, I'm screamed at as if I have accosted their team. Every single time I come in here, the staff is incredibly combative and not helpful. For a company that says they pride themselves on customer service, this is perhaps the downright most mean UPS store in greater NYC. Honestly UPS corporate needs to come and shut this business down, because it is a shoddy, lame excuse for a representative of their brand. I've had better service at McDonalds. read more

I wish I could say that everyone in this store excelled at customer service, but doing so would be a flat out falsehood. I brought in two packages at 7:16pm today, only to be told by associate Michael Lee that their cutoff is 7:15 and they would go out the next day. What? Did the driver come in the 60 seconds since this has been true? No. One minute late (which...by the way isn't advertised anywhere) and he couldn't help me. I'm stressed because one of the packages has to be in Germany by Friday and I'm under a deadline. The Michael Lee customer service method says put in zero effort to help at this point. We are off to a great start. His colleague, who was actually very polite sensed my stress and told me I could carry my 36"x16"x12" 15 lb box as well as my other package down to Lexington and 116th though, but he wasn't sure what their cutoff time was either. Did anyone offer to call to find out? No. The Michael Lee customer service method dictates that you have to help yourself because again, no cares could be found to give at this point either. Whatever. I was willing to accept this absurdity but then Michael made the lamest attempt anyone has ever made scanning a label, which took all of 2/10ths of a second, when he told me that I would have to cart this box back, make a new label, and come back, even though he couldn't send my packages today. Could he have hand keyed it in? Yes. Was he willing to even suggest that? No. The Michael Lee customer service method dictates once again that zero cares could be found to give. Frustrated, I gave up and took my packages, taking great care to stare for a good minute and memorize the name of the fantastic customer service agent who was so helpful to me! Thank you Michael Lee! I took both packages to a UPS dropoff point where the lady was sweet as pie and was extremely helpful. She hand keyed my defective label and was extremely gracious. I spent $40 in her store because she was so helpful and I intend to return to her store tomorrow to purchase more items. I like to support good business leaders. Michael Lee reminded me of the Chapelle's Show episode of Pop Copy. If you're in customer service, don't be like Michael Lee, because people like Michael Lee don't have jobs for long...or at least they shouldn't. read more

I used their mailbox service. (I suspect they assigned the same mailbox to multiple parties, and I'm preparing to commence legal action against the store and its owner.) I found health insurance information and other highly sensitive documentation addressed to different people in the mailbox I rented through this store. (There was sticker from the post office showing the mail was forwarded to my mailbox.) The store clerk was highly defensive when I complained that mail addressed to multiple parties is frequently in my mailbox. I contacted the store via email and did not receive a reply. I have no way of knowing if my personal information has been compromised because others have access to my mailbox, and have previously taken my mail. This store is a lawsuit waiting to happen (I doubt I'll be the first to sue this store and its owner). Avoid at all cost! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! You've been warned. They overcharge their customers, provide NO customer service and deserve to be out of business. I just left here after dealing with them for 30 minutes to release a package I had re-routed to the store because I wasn't going to home for the scheduled delivery time. I paid my $5 online to have the package re-routed, no biggie. So I go into the store to pick it up and they tell me I own ANOTHER $5 for them to release it! When I asked why the manager, yes manager (more on him in a bit) said the $5 was for holding the package. So basically they were going to charge me another $5 so he could walk to the back and retrieve the package. Hell no! When I asked for their Customer Service number they gave me the UPS number, not the UPS Store number. There's a difference but they not surprised they don't know. Call corporate and they explained I didn't have to pay the additional $5. Corporate was friendly enough to call the store and explain, to which the manager argued with corporate. FINALLY after dealing with this issue for 30 minutes the manager reluctantly released the package. Even after he did he continued to argue with me, the customer. Maybe arguing with your customer works in another country but news flash, this is America! If I could give them no stars I would! I'm taking my business elsewhere! read more

Avoid this UPS at all costs!!!! I went in last Friday to ship a package that I had sold on eBay. eBay had told me the shipping would be about $40. I get to the store, the gentleman was very nice, but he charged me $110!!!! When I asked him why it was so expensive he told me he was charging me $30 to put my package in a box with bubble wrap. I was in a rush and said whatever so I just paid and left. At this point I just wanted the package gone so I sucked it up. I lost the receipt over the weekend with the tracking info so I tried calling them this morning and Hussein answered. I told him my situation and he said that he was with a customer and instead of putting me on hold, told me to call back in 10 minutes (which kind of took me aback because usually you're just put on hold). I told him that sure- I would call back in ten minutes but that I please couldn't wait longer because I would have to leave for an engagement and this was very important and he rudely cut me off and said, "You are not entitled to anything you have to come here for services". And I was like- "whoah dude there's no need to be rude, I already said I would call back", To which he started screaming "you are not entitled to anything I deal with customers in person only!!!!", To which I responded, "really? So a customer who spent $100 there last Friday isn't entitled to common politeness or service?" To which he hung up. I don't know who trained this guy or what his problem was, but you don't treat a customer that way ever. telling a customer who has paid $100 that they are not entitled to service is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. i ordered a package through an online buying & selling app i've used for nearly 5 years. two days ago says my package was delivered. weird because i was home all day and no postal carrier rang my doorbell. maybe it was scanned in on accident. fast forward to yesterday i get a strange email from someone who has my same street address but lives 2 blocks over saying they got my package. the package was delivered to 149 w 117th, not 149 w 119th like it says on the label. not only is this absolutely avoidable by doing your job correctly, it put me in an extremely uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situation as a young woman who now has to go meet a complete stranger to get a package i PAID to have delivered to my house. i'm extremely lucky this person was kind enough to track me down & was normal but this situation could have EASILY been a horror story all because some lazy employee decided to cut corners. delivery folks, please read delivery labels correctly, it's what you're paid to do. read more

Literally the worst store ever sent my package regular Usps charged me 30 to send my important letter that they said would take two days to send. They sent it Usps priory which cost 7 bucks and took four days. I wish to burn this place to the ground. That was a very important life saving package that now cost a life on top of that. I just came from this place to have an affidavit notarized and the notary was reading it! When I called him on it he tried to lie and claimed he's supposed to make sure everything is in order. That's a lie and not required for that service. All a notary is responsible for is checking my ID and watch me sign the document that needs notarizing. read more

I've been coming here for a long time mainly to pick up packages, but in a previous life I used to send a lot of express envelopes too. I've never had an issue shipping or receiving, and I like that I get email notifications once packages arrive. It's a great location that also has a few computers and a notary. So the service here is great, but UPS is not cheap. If you're sending packages over 500 miles away then I'd say that UPS is not affordable. I don't send much of anything anymore but the last time I did I was wondering if there was a Chinese mail service somewhere. read more

To the managers of this location: Wow! I just got off the phone with the manager (1/07/16 at 12:29pm). I unfortunately did not get his name but what an incredibly rude, unprofessional excuse for a human being. He literally just chastised me about not being able to pick up my package (which they were supposed to deliver anyway) due to my being away from New York. And hung up the phone on me mid-sentence. All of this in response to my very polite inquiry. I was initially speaking with one of the workers who was really nice and cordial. And then as soon as I was transferred to this manager, he just started talking to me in an antagonistic manner, barely letting me finish my question. You would think we are being done a favor rather than paying for an overpriced, private shipping service. While many of us are us are under the impression that UPS provides a DELIVERY service, they (whether the corporate office or this particular site) seem to have decided that they are now going to just pretend to deliver your package and then hold it at a location rather than attempt delivery multiple times. To the manager at this site I spoke to who thinks it's ok to raise his voice over the phone at female customers or any customer for that matter, if you want to keep your job/shop, I'd suggest adopting some basic human decency. Also try some anger management classes to help you adjust to your customer service profession. Otherwise consider changing careers to maybe a military sergeant where that kinda behavior is required. read more

I went to the UPS store about ten minutes ago to pick up my package and the UPS sales associate Hussein was helping me. He went back in forth 3 time to look for my package to then say I have to call customer service to track my package. So I said that I already tracked the package and it says it's been delivered to this address at 3:29pm and then he says did you not hear what I said your not listening ...this is one of MANY times that Hussein has been EXTREMELY disrespectful and always unprofessional and I noticed that he never has a name tag on probably because he gets a lot of complaints about him but this is the WORST ups I've ever gone too I hate when my package get sent there I don't recommend that location to anybody and UPS needs to do some in house training with Hussein he's extremely rude,not a people person and doesn't deserve to work in a field that deals with customer service. Awful customer service. Shoes sent to different address, take packages and throw em and go, leaving items in the hallway without notice or request to me and neighbors. Lie about attempts of delivery and will throw someone else parcel at your doorstep without even knocking. They treat certain people a certain way & selective with customer service, and it's acceptable because of who they serve. People should refuse their services, or they will continue to mistreat their own clientele for business; the people in the community. read more

UPS has done it again. They have got to be one of the worst shipping carriers to exist. I have shipped packages that arrived with the merchandise broken into pieces, packages were sent to the incorrect address and packages showing up looking like it had been through a war. The latest mishap is that I shipped a package from one of their stores on April 15th that somehow got lost by them. After 4 months of going back & forth with them I still have not received the refund they said I would. Now I am filing a compaint with the BBB. I guess lesson learned, you get what you pay for. You might as well pay the extra money for the better carrier knowing that your package will get to it's destination in one piece. AVOID AT ALL COSTS--because if you don't, hidden costs and a whole lot of attitude is all you'll get. I went in to use their computer and print 8 pages. The min. charge was a $10 pre-authorization (to print paper, mind you) plus a $3 min. charge for time spent and an additional 59 cents per printed paper. Fine. Whatever. I ate the $10 because I needed it done. I then asked if there was a way to scan the pages and email them, to which a gentlemen behind the counter said yes, took my papers, and walked me to the printer. He then told me to enter my email, which I did. He then scanned the 8 pages and gave them back, to which I said thank you. As I was about to leave, he told me I owed them an additional $20. I said "What?!?" He then said it's $2 per scan plus tax. I was shocked. I told him he never told me it was going to cost $2 per page. Had I known that I would have just taken a few pics of the needed pages myself. When I asked him why he never said anything, one of the other gentlemen (I believe it was the manager) raised his voice at me in front of other customers and told me--I kid you not--that "it's my responsibility to know how much it costs." My responsibility? Excuse me, but you have no sign posted anywhere near or on the printer saying it cost $2 a page to scan a document, $2 a page is a complete ripoff, and your employee literally grabbed my papers and did it for me without even telling me it would cost money until after he scanned them. What kind of place in this day and age pulls this kind of stuff? Furthermore, what kind of store manager berates his customers like that? Completely rude, offensive, and totally inappropriate. Better of going to a FedEx Kinkos or even your local deli. It will be a lot cheaper and you won't have to deal with the nasty attitude. I went here to get moving boxes and they had the sizes I needed (16³ @4.99, 18³ @5.99). They had the whole range of boxes you'd expect to find for moving (³: 14, 16, 18, 20). Checkout was fast, no lines. Dude made a little (somewhat useless) handle around the boxes for me--really thoughtful of him. Prices for the boxes were not great, but their location is convenient, so I can't complain. read more

USPS says they never got them. This store is unresponsive--from the manager to its owner (it's independently owned.) Two months later, I'm at a loss for the value of the shipment.
