I arrived right when they opened because I was in a bit of a rush and was second on line, which was great. Unfortunately, there was a short delay since their computers were down at opening. Even though it wasn't the best timing, the wait wasn't too bad. Once everything was up and running, the process went smoothly and efficiently. The staff handled everything professionally and without any issues, and they got everyone taken care of pretty quickly. Overall, a minor delay at the start, but the quality of service was solid and the value felt fair and not expensive once everything was up and running.

In NYS it's illegal to charge more than $2 to notarize a document unless it's a remote notary (which is not what this was). I mentioned to her that I was also a notary & knew the laws & regulations, so instead of doing the right thing & accepting my $2 payment, she ripped up the document, so now I have to go back home and reprint the document in hopes of finding someone today to sign it. This nonsense that she replies with on her Google & Yelp reviews about this being a service or convenience fee -- you can't charge an additional fee on a notary service! "A notary public may charge a fee of $2.00 for administering an oath or affirmation or for taking an acknowledgment or proof of execution. UNLESS OTHERWISE AUTHORIZED BY LAW, A NOTARIAL FEE MAY NOT EXCEED THIS AMOUNT." Every lawyer I've spoken to has conquered that is 100% illegal to charge additional fees. I get it, running a business is expensive and it can take years to actually turn a profit. But that's just part of owning a business. I have reported this person to the NYS department of licensing services and the Secretary of State. I also spoke to the library director who said she had no idea and will tell her staff to stop recommending this business. Being a notary is a public service and we agree to abide by certain rules & regulations. To take advantage of that role for monetary purposes is morally wrong.
