This UPS has the worst delivery service I've ever experienced in the U.S. On May 21, 2025, I sent a package to a friend that was supposed to arrive by May 23. I paid significantly more for this service and was guaranteed it would be delivered on time. The package ended up arriving late on May 27. By then, my friend was no longer at the location. The package was lost -- and it contained extremely important medication for him. I went to the store today, and they refused to even process a refund for the extra amount I paid. They said there's nothing they can do. You pay for a service at this awful company, they fail to deliver, and then refuse to refund you. I will never use UPS again and I absolutely do not recommend this garbage of a service to anyone. My friend is now suffering and unwell because of this. read more

I just can't believe this guy Hector has been getting away with it for at least 7 years?!?!?! I was a regular customer -- until that same employee, Hector, treated me rudely, twisted the story, and the manager, April, fully backed him without hesitation, even though she wasn't there. No accountability. No willingness to hear my side. Just a defensive, emotionally charged response that sounded nothing like what you'd expect from a professional. I complained to CustomerRelations@UPSStore.com, and all they did was forward me her email containing Hector's version of the story and say, "There is nothing further to be done on our part." Here's an actual line from the so-called "manager" April's email response that says everything: "In the future I suggest the customer reads the instructions before returning her items." Instead of sticking to facts or resolving the issue professionally, she closed with condescension. That's the tone throughout -- dismissive, defensive, and full of assumptions. If you've ever felt blamed, gaslit, or talked down to at this store, you're definitely not alone. I literally told corporate that I do not feel safe with him there, as a woman -- and what they did was ban Me for standing up for myself and refusing to let him speak to me that way, instead of terminating Him. It seems that no matter how many complaints of the exact same nature about the same person keep piling up -- stretching back at least a DECADE, based on the reviews I've seen -- those two will always have each other's backs and twist the story, making the customer out to be the abuser. This employee isn't even protected by the union -- how can nobody question that the manager is ALWAYS on his side? Are you guys serious?! Even CORPORATE will just say "Oh well"?? I'm so done. Though my first experience here wasn't all that great, I had to come back here a couple of weeks ago to complete something for work and wow, what a huge difference with service. The two people working that morning really took their time with what I needed to complete. They didn't rush me like last time and helped answer my many questions. read more

Stopped to this location and had a terrible interaction with an employee who refused to give me his name when asked. He was short Hispanic with spiky hair and had a bad attitude. I attempted to simply drop off a modern from T-Mobile. T mobile emailed me clear instructions with the label and instructed me to email it to UPS upon arrival and they would print it/box it without a charge. The employee first tried to charge me for a box. I went back to my car to get a box. When I returned he then tried to charge me for a label. The instructions given clearly stated there should be no charge for either. He had a bad attitude about it for no reason and I would not recommend this store. When I asked for his name he replied" we're a franchise and I don't have to give it to you". Not to mention there is no parking so it was extremely inconvenient to keep going back and forth to my car. Never again. read more

As I stepped inside the store, a lovely looking (Although she was wearing a mask) staff member welcomed me with such a cheerful hello that it left me with no doubt about the tone of the further remaining part of my transactional experience. As I made my first step inside the store, I observed her to be seriously busy carrying a heavy looking box in her hands so particularly in that regard, her ability to greet an inquirer so warmly in such a stressful moment is absolutely a superpower that a lot of people in her position do unfortunately lack in today's world! Although I told her that she could take as much time as required to finish the task she had in her hands; she made me her one & only priority thus, surprised me in such a pleasing way. I have made sure that I would not leave the store without asking her what her name is, having received her incredible SERVICE, and just like her name, April literally brought a refreshing springy breeze to my experience and the lively color of her hair was like enough of a reason for me to visualize cherry blossoms in that swift interaction. This particular UPS store's indeed very lucky to have such a crew member onboard as April, who is totally capable of making you feel happy for still being able to encounter an offline, actual human interaction in today's ridiculously digitized online world; where our social laziness also translates to a serious lack of mindfulness and quite frankly and honestly, I don't know which one causes which. I am a 41 year old man and if anybody told me like even 10 years ago that one day in the not so far future, that I would find myself in rare situations where I would feel the need to say "Thank You" to someone, just for the Goodness in them, I would've only laughed out loud as that would sound odd under the circumstances of being a human back then. I have been coming to this UPS store location for about 2 years now. Unlike some of the past negative reviews, I have never had any problems with any of the staff here. The people here have always been helpful towards me whenever I visit this place to pick up a package. In fact, I picked up my Amazon package here just yesterday after work and the counter person was very quick and efficient in processing my pick up transaction. This location is very convenient for me because it is just one block from the Montgomery BART station where I get off after work on my way home. read more

What an unpleasant experience doing something as simple as an Amazon return. I got one QR code for a few items. The person working, after scanning the code, asked for the other codes. I told him that was the only one. When I tried to confirm that everything had been handled properly, he kept saying in an accusatory tone "you only showed me 1 code," as if he had no understanding of the process (I can't imagine I'm the first person making an Amazon return here) or any responsibility to make sure it was done properly. I'm hoping it was, but I'm holding onto that receipt and preparing to have to fight with UPS and/or Amazon if it wasn't. read more

I've never had an issue with them before but I've heard from coworkers that they have an attitude problem. Today, I did a scan and drop off and the clerk at the counter refused it. He was completely combative and just plain rude. Seems like they just pick and choose depending on how they feel. After showing him clear scan and go instructions he still refused. Claiming that it didn't say anything about not being in a package. Maybe they need to get employees who can read basic instructions. I ended up going to a UPS location down the street and they accepted it with no issues. Based on other reviews, coworker experiences and my own experience definitely avoid. Here I am disappointed in UPS for hiring someone who clearly hates his job. Yes, I am referring the infamous hector behind the counter. I had my share of UPS encounters but never had I met someone who is rude and so unfriendly in several encounters throughout the years. I can't believe he still has a job at UPS. Please check that your returns has been fully processed - even if you saved your UPs tracking slip... it might do some good. Anyhow, I had to contact the vendor to reverse the transaction because my 3 packages never made it. I don't know whose fault this could be but I do remember interacting with hector the most and it just happens my items were not in transit where they are suppose to be. Never had I had any issues at other locations. This is the first of many vendor charges - that recharged me. "We don't give out free boxes, this is how I pay my rent." This is what the guy behind the counter said when I asked if they had a box for a small package I was shipping back, I already had a pre-printed label. He was incredibly rude, and there was a huge bin of boxes behind him that were used and being thrown out. Of course recycling doesn't matter, let's waste more paper. I've never had a place be this rude or refuse to give me a free box if they had one. Surprised he didn't charge me for the tape too. I just experienced a truly disgusting display of racism at this UPS. "Trish" at the 268 Bush Street store in San Francisco berated my asian-american husband to stay 6 feet away from her or she would "call the CDC" on him. She said "you people need to follow the rules of the rest of the world". She directed her shouting at him, despite the fact that I, a white person, was standing MUCH closer to her (as I was rushing to put down a heavy box). Her male coworker quietly moved around her, avoiding eye contact and saying nothing to us. He made no effort to intervene or stop her racist tirade. Their behavior is beyond despicable. We are both shaking with anger and I will not let this go until this woman is removed from her position. This happened at 4:45pm pst on 3/20. Please share far and wide. I hate reviews but this guy pissed me off. I visted this location around 1:20-1:30pm today. I was dropping off a small envelope. The first thing that caught me off guard was he asked me if I was a brown truck outside and I was going to say "No I wasn't paying attention" but all I got out was "No.." and he cut me off and said "Well it's not going out till Monday then" And I said "ok that's fine I just need a receipt" he said he couldn't give me one because that would make it look like it was going to ship out today and it wasn't. He told me to just take a picture of it. Thought that was a little strange but ok. So I did and I walked out. I called my boyfriend right after and told him what happened to make sure it was ok with him since it was his package. He told me he needed the receipt so I went back and told the guy. He just hands me the package and says "You can send it out Monday." I told him I just needed a receipt and that I understood it won't get sent out yet. He said he couldn't take it because he would get in trouble. I told him I had done it before at the Embarcadero ups and it wasn't an issue. He said "Well take it to the Embarcadero ups then" I was so angry! All I needed was a receipt!!! I went to the ups store on Van ness and they took my envelope no problem. She handed me the receipt and I asked her if it was an issue. She said no and that what had happened at the other ups store was strange. I popped in here today with some Zappos shoes to return and a UPS return label. I needed a box for the shoes and the gentleman behind the counter offered to help me. He not only found a proper box but assembled it, packed my shoes in it, and afixed my label to it. And the guy only charged me a measly $2 for this service/product! He was quick about it....I think I spent less than 2 minutes in the store. Amazing! Both of the employees working were cheerful and had smiles on their faces which is a plus in my book. These reviews suck. To be clear, I have been going here for years. They are the happiest, nicest, friendliest people I deal with downtown. They always make me laugh, they always treat me well, they never (ever) freak out when I am late on my PO BOX payment. They are just the best. Meanwhile, I can't tell you how many times I have been in the store and watched outrageously crazy people make outrageously crazy demands, none of which they can accomodate. I have literally watched people scream at these folks - for, you know, not sending letters without postage, or for not delivering letters to the PO BOXES (which, to be clear, is illegal). It's nuts how poorly these folks are treated. So . . . on to a few other points: 1. Sorry dude - if you move your business to another location and leave an upaid bill of $105, how is that NOT your problem? 2. UPS charges for boxes. That's their business. Seriously, do you think they don't charge for boxes and they don't have a high profit margin? Don't like it? Get your own box. It's not like they are scarce. The other complaints? Other UPs stores have great service. I had to go to this one, since the one I frequent is closed by the time I get to the east bay since I've been working later hours. This one store does the minimal, even when they are not busy with other customers. Dude with no neck, is not helpful at all, nor displays customer service skills. Observation and by own experience, he tends to talk to a customera without eye contact and will multi-task. The ladies, though, I give them props for being a bit more helpful. They get paid to ship out your packages, nothing more. And if you do internet shipping, they don't know how to trouble shoot. They will competely say "I cant help you" right away and make it sound like it's "user error". Duh, i know what pop up screens are. On a side note for the 1 star rating, UPS needs to link their online process with stores, like other retail shipping companies. read more

April was sooooo wonderful! She helped me with my notary and faxing problems. She even helped me leave for work on time despite the fax taking forever. April was kind enough to make me feel reassured she would send me a confirmation that my fax went through. And she did her job with honestly above and beyond customer service. Maybe I am old fashion regarding customer service... ...but if someone comes in for an emergency (after calling 3x) to print out some tickets that was sent via email. They walk in - you are busy...and you not only make that person wait (after printing them out; and it's sitting on the printer) + but charge them $3.44 for two sheets of paper (black/white). I do not feel 4 or 5 stars is worth it. Sorry. Now - if she said, "I see you are rushing...so don't worry about it. Here you go! Glad I could help." This is -by far- my favorite place to do business and personal shipping in SF. The location helps but the service is what keeps me coming back. I avoid the post office like the plague because there are always long lines, no pens and they are generally unhelpful. The opposite is true here.
