Update: I went to the post office and spoke with a rep and they located one of the two packages that was for me. I spent over an hr but the rep assisting me could not locate the package. At 7pm- I receive a call from the rep that they located the package and I could go and pick it up. By this time I was already exhausted and home. Next day- Gloria from this office calls me and shares she will have the medication delivered. So I was happy. However the tone of voice could be better and there was no empathy. I'm currently dealing with mail delivery issues and went to this location to get it sorted. I arrived and waited in line for 50 minutes. When I finally got to the counter, the clerk told me that ONLY the supervisor can access the system to check for a change-of-address/validation letter. Here's the kicker: the supervisor went to lunch at 12:00 PM. I was there at 5:10 PM. That's over 5 hours later, and apparently, the supervisor never bothered to come back to work. No one else was authorized to help me. So my 50-minute wait was a complete waste of time. I understand people need breaks, but abandoning your post for an entire afternoon is inexcusable. If only one person in the entire building has system access, that person needs to be available during business hours. This is a federal service, not a food truck. Complete mismanagement and a total disrespect for customers' time. And this isn't even my first nightmare with this branch. A few years ago, I mailed a check through USPS from the drop box right outside this exact location, and it was stolen. When I went inside to speak with someone, they flat-out told me they can't stop thieves from raiding their mailboxes--even the ones sitting right outside their own office. So they knowingly leave unsecured collection boxes out front, admit they're powerless to protect your mail, and then make you wait nearly an hour just to be told the one person who can help took a five-hour lunch. In 8 years, I have literally never been to this location and been able to leave in under 40 minutes. There's usually one to two employees max and always 7+ people in line. Hardly anything is automated, there's no quick drop off lane. They're stingy about helping you out with tape, they don't help out elderly when they're struggling to do something. I'm giving this place 2 stars, and that's mainly because they've never messed up shipping anything for me and because I feel for the one person who's often stuck handling a long line of customers all by themselves. That said, they really need to hire at least one more staff member to manage the line, especially during busy times. It's frustrating to see the same situation every time I visit. Another issue is their opening hours. Whenever I get there at 8 AM when they open, they're almost never on time. I usually end up waiting 5-10 minutes past opening, which is really inconvenient. 3rd unpleasant interaction with Audrey today (1st time writing about it): GoPost Urgent Package Pick-Up notice in PO Box; stood in line 10 minutes. When 3rd attendant--older woman in glasses named Audrey--sat down, woman behind me said I could pick my package up at her counter. I stepped out of line and waited for a man engaged in a long conversation with Audrey; when he finally finished and walked away, I approached, showed my slip, and asked if I could pick it up at her counter. Audrey, looking extremely irritated, replied in a rude tone, 'No. You have to wait in the line.' Later, a postal employee appeared like an angel asking if anyone had packages to pick up; I showed him my slip and asked if he was able help with it. He told me he could, met me in the main hall, escortied me to a scanning machine, entered the code and showed me the holding locker where my package nestled--very kind, pleasant, patient. I returned to the front counter to ask Audrey (when finished with a client) why she instructed me to unnecessarily stand in line instead of simply explaining where the package could be picked up self-service. She pretended not to understand the question, then lamely replied she thought I'd missed the pick-up date. I said that wasn't the case, so she lied and claimed she'd been in the middle of helping someone else--I said the gentleman had already stepped away from the counter when I stepped forward to ask her help. She continued to insist she was still helping him, then dismissed me (again) by turning away and calling the next person in line. No responsibility or apology plus an unfriendly tone the entire time. 1 star (really none) for Audrey's beaurocratic petty power. 5 stars for the young man who was friendly and helpful. read more

One person working ... line is out the door.... Supervisor does not help out when the need arises... Attendant is polite and working hard but It's the worst customer service in the entire city because it's chronically understaffed. Sad but so typical for San Francisco. Arrived in this post office around at 8:50am, there's no one at the counter. There's two customers in front of me, we all waited 8+ mins for a Postal worker to come out and starts helping. This is already unacceptable, made customers wait for a postal officer to work in the front counter at 8:50am? When it's my turn, my service is certified mail. This old lady has glasses with white short hair, hand me the certified mail to fill out the address. I do this every month, so I know the process and I know I won't take long to write the address. While I'm about to write the address, she has the audacity to help the person who just came in 3 mins before I was next. To work on her services first. When I already waited 15+ mins for the 2 customers in front of me. Specifically, she messed up 3 times on Money Order checks on the customer in front of me. Now I still have to wait for the customer behind me! I said to the postal worker, "I'm here before her, everyone needs to wait like I did wait for the two persons in front of me". She said, "no". I was already irritated. I was done writing before she even starts the service on the customer behind me. I then placed the paper in front of her. She had the audacity to placed my paper and my envelope set aside. I was so angry, I grabbed my paper and envelope and left. This is NOT the first time, I came here. She does this to me EVERY-TIME I WAS THERE. I had enough of her mistreated me. I recommend go to the Chinatown post office, if you are in Nob Hill. They always give you the best services. Truly horrible Post Office. Usually One Employee at the counter with a Line to the Door. This Post Office has been bad for years, but recently became worse than ever. However, the Mail Delivery situation in the 94109 zip code has become a Nightmare! Mail is constantly delivered to the wrong address when and if it is delivered at all. I There have been days with no delivery. If you have Informed Deliver, you are aware of when you should be receiving incoming mail. I have personally delivered mail to my neighbors ( in another building) that I received in my mailbox . I have also reported this via filing a complaint and also by speaking with a supposed "supervisor" at this location. Nothing is ever corrected. Post offices always get poor reviews but this one is quite okay in my opinion. It is clean and neat with plenty of Mail supplies, greeting cards too. Post offices are often understaffed so most of the time people need to wait. It no exception here but the workers, despite the fact that they were busy, tried to be helpful by giving people info and instructions as they work to save people time. Neighborhood post office has excellent, knowledgeable staff who work very conscientiously. Some mornings, the line gets long and there is only one clerk working valiantly. Customer service is always courteous, efficient, and thanks customers for their patience. Am very grateful to Ms. Audrey and Mr. Terence. I have so much respect for postal workers. I've had mail delivered at 7pm. These folks work 12+ hour days. They deliver mail, important voter ballots and make sure you get your mail in a timely manner. Neither rain nor snow nor dead of night will hinder the postwoman (or man) from getting their job done. Some of them are recent college grads paying off their college debt! Respect ! Working outside each day can be a physically tiring job. You will get fit carrying a bag or wheeling a cart depending on your route. Please curb your dog if the postal worker comes to your door! read more

Update one this as well, I came back the next day because I had a "failure" as my notification for a package that this guy said to come back the next day and they would have it because they "hold failed deliveries for a few days". I came back, they looked, and then he said they package got picked up and sent back to sender at noon, which means my package from Korea is being sent all the way back. Why tell me to come back the next day??? Also when my property manager checked the tapes for the package that said was "delivered" no one ever delivered a package at that time. Meaning the driver that day never delivered my package and kept it. Great work!! read more

Not much love given here with the standing 2 stars before this review. In reading several reviews, the main issues were the lines and wait here. This is not my 'normal' post office with most of my work-related tasks being in Chinatown. In trying to correct an address classification issue, the Chinatown branch instructed me to come here. Timing is everything as only one lady was at the counter when I walked in. There was only one window open but I was asking my questions within three minutes. The clerk was very helpful and patient in listening to my situation. He told me that I would need to speak with the supervisor given the complexity of my request. Before leaving the window, I happened to see the display of the currently offered stamps. With my friend in mind, I purchased a few sheets of the Chinese New Year lunar stamps (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=AT0DjLzXrgle5UBAeXKqmQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), this year being the Year of the Tiger. I then stood about twelve feet away to the other end of the counter for the supervisor to meet with me. Five minutes became ten as I watched customers come and go. In the center of the counter, there is a cleared area with a large basket behind the counter. I watched customers either leave boxes, large envelopes, or packages on this counter or slide their mail items into the basket. About ten minutes in, another clerk opened a neighboring window as more customers came. Well, my wait ended up being twenty minutes and, after hailing the clerk that I spoke with, he went to the back and reminded the supervisor of my presence. Luckily, I scored front door parking and was able to feed my meter. Sadly, the supervisor told me that I would need to speak with the SF Planning Department to rectify my issue in a one minute conversation. Kudos to the clerk and this post office's organized logistics. Minus a half star for having to wait twenty minutes to meet with me. read more

I was provided 2 numbers by the field USPS employee for them and I called more than 25 times over a 3 day period and they did not pick up a single time and there's no voicemail ability. They then ignored the forwarding info from the USPS system and shipped the $400 item back overseas to Africa so I will never receive it. read more

I am rating 5 stars because of a very kind and helpful lady that works here, Marylin, and one more kind lady (I forgot her name) her coworker. I came in to purchase an envelope with a prepaid postage, and when i stepped up to a counter in the middle, the lady behind it was aggressive towards me and sold me a smaller envelope even after her kind coworker on her left advised her to sell me the large envelope. An aggressive lady in the middle said she didn't have large envelopes. She dismissed her coworker's help and advice and was aggressive towards her as well. Luckily before I walked away from their building, I was able to ask Marylin for help and she gave me the large envelope before I walked out with the wrong one and I made a second purchase with the lady in the middle. Marylin advised an aggressive lady in the middle to help with the second purchase the right way, but she dismissed Marylin as well in an aggressive way. And because of that, once I got home I realized that I forgot to purchase another package for my envelope they told her to give me, because she continued being aggressive towards us all. I feel like coming into this building today was like a training session for overcoming obstacles when buying an envelope with a prepaid postage. lol. the lady with long grey hair is very rude. (clerk 10, i think?) i don't go to the post office much so when i was confused on what proper envelope i needed to use, she was speaking to me as if i'm dumb. the line was getting pretty long and someone just had a quick question to clarify the packing and she was being rude to them too. it's a simple question, i'm not sure why you would want to speak to us in a tone that isn't so nice. one of my biggest icks is when i hand over cash and instead of them putting the change back in my hand, it's just tossed on the desk. but she made sure to hand me the receipt to do the survey. you work with customers all day, please work on a nicer tone when addressing the public. read more

On 4-16-22 I went into this location to do the "in person" verification for USPS informed delivery. When I went I brought the same documents I used to open my PO box at a different location here. I was assisted by a man named Muhammed who took my documents then told me they were not acceptable. Despite them matching up with the list of approved documents from the website. That day I even had my social security card which I offered as yet another form of identification which was not accepted either. I clearly and politely tried explaining why my documents were in fact acceptable but I met with patronization and overt rudeness by the customer service agent. Its hurtful that these sort of things still occur in San Francisco despite it being labeled from the outside looking in as a progressive city. Being discriminated against is never fun and at times you forget that these sort of situations still occur daily. Overall this place is not the best place to go if you're of African decent. Going to another location is unfortunately still the best route to take. There are a lot of post offices in San Francisco who value not only your business but will treat you in a respectful manner. I write these reviews based on my experience so that others will not have to face the same obstacles that I have. But always do your own research! read more

Wad told by sn employee after hours of waiting and 2 years on pink slips, tha USPS doesn't need to deliver the mail. They don't need to knock, call, or do anything. They can simply leave punk slip, or not even bother. That is the USPS RULES. According to USPS, I QUOTE..." USPS does not need to ring your buzzer or deliver mail. " He then would not put on a supervisor. I suggest if you buy things via mail, PAY 300 TO 1000$ for a private box. Wow...never thought I'd be adding a 5 star rating for USPS, but my experience here was amazing. I missed a package delivery on a Saturday that I absolutely needed for an early Monday flight. The missed note said I could pick up at this location on 10am Monday, hence missing my flight. I went down to this location (shout out to Audrey and the supervisor on duty), who helped rearrange the courtier to add my package back on as a last stop route later that day- saving me missing an important work conference and having to rebook a flight.
