I come here to ship my packages. It's a tidy, compact UPS store amidst all the hubbub on Geary. One time, I couldn't find my packing tape at home, so the guy there helped me out for free instead of making me buy tape when I had some at home somewhere. Today, I ran out of tape at home, so I bought some tape at the store and started to pack my box in there. I was pathetically trying to rip the tape off the dispenser from the wrong direction. The person working there today was like "OMG UR DOIN IT WRONG" (said very nicely and patiently :P) and helped me do the rest of the packing. The location is convenient. Lots of metered spots nearby and shops, so you can park with relative ease and run multiple errands within the vicinity at once. I have been to other UPS stores before, but I always prefer this one, and not just because it's in my neighborhood. So what did we learn today, kids? 1. I fail at packing 2. Went there with a big shipping challenge. I do stained glass. (Aside: Come to the Sharon Arts Studio in GGP-you will love it!) I had finished 3 pieces and needed to get them to Illinois. The guys there packed all three carefully and they were on their way. Happy to report only the slightest travel dings on one of them on a part of the piece I should have known could not possibly be shipped. Still, all four corners were at risk, and only 2 had tiny cracks. UPS and the packers did a great job and it sure beat driving 2178 miles. read more

OUTSTANDING customer service. Some of the best service in San Francisco. I had to fax 50+ pages ASAP. As a luddite, I barely know how to use and prepare docs for a fax transaction (though I am quite adept at yelping...). The owner, the clerk, everyone was more than helpful, patient, and professional. Oh so great to have this place in the neighborhood. Excellent service. Friendly. Speedy. I had an expensive camera shipped and everything went smoothly. The guy with the polk-dots in his hair is awesome. But to be fair, they're all professionals! Note: Know what you need. The staff are there to help. Not fair to down-rate a service if you screwed up, as most of the one star reviews are. They're also not a free supply center, have everything right and ready to go. I thought it would be a breeze after talking to edgar over the phone. He gave me detailed instructions on what to do in order to obtain a PO Box from out of state. I submitted the info on three different occasions but Edgar never responded to my emails or phone calls. Maybe he (Edgar is store manager) has all the business he can handle? His lack of response demonstrates he is not interested in getting or retaining customers not to mention rude and incompetent. Life is too short to deal with being ignored. I sent two packages from here, on a Tuesday and told they would be delivered in two days, a Thursday. I wanted them to be there for special occasions so I went with UPS. Almost a week later they have not been delivered. One is still in California and the other package is LOST!!!! They seem unconcerned about my packages, lot's of comments about how busy they are. They simply state the packages are out of their store and with the UPS now. I am left to deal with the UPS call center with a tracking timeline of 8 more days, and they are already asking about the replacement value, guess they know how this is going to play out...... Do not use this facility or UPS if you care about getting your packages to your destination. read more

If you do not want to waste your time reading my review, just know the two employees there today for my visit were very attentive, polite, generous, informative and very kind, you will not be disappointed with service. However, you might be dissatisfied with minor things. The prices are incredibly expensive, and this isn't a complaint coming from me, it's just a warning to other patrons that their standard price might not be something you can afford, or if you can, may not want to. But you get excellent quality so you do get what you pay for. Supplies are lacking, so don't anticipate to get everything done in one spot, although it is possible because they do have basic necessities and a good selection of fancy paper. Despite their little office space for assembling your work together being on the small side, it is fairly organized and stocked with resources that are complimentary for your use such as white out, three hole hole puncher, stapler, tape etc. (The other UPS stores I have been to do not have these luxuries). I raised hell unintentionally. First, I arrived there on an empty stomach so that is my defense for having been so absent minded. I'm very lucky to have encountered Robbie. I was impressed with Robbie, unlike other retail places I've been to, and I think we can all agree it's like this fairly often --people usually wait to help you until you flagged them down like a cab. Robbie wasn't even near me and I was navigating fine while his coworker handled another guest but here comes Robbie quick and kind to help me! I was surprised but told him what i needed. Unfortunately, I, being the bone head that I am, forgot to specify I needed the 40 pages I asked for in color. I was mortified but Robbie was kind and after a little while he told me he would not charge me and that he would just recycle the papers. I couldn't believe this persons kindness even though IT WAS MY MISTAKE. A lot of people always go places thinking that nothing is ever their fault and it's egregious thinking, it takes two people to get something right sometimes and by that I mean you need to communicate, and I did not. This mans generosity did not stop either! When he told me the total $51.56 I was like: "holy fucking shit" And then I told him, I didn't have enough money and asked if I could wash some dishes in the back. I am so lucky he didn't spit fire at me and call me stupid......he just asked me what I could afford and helped negotiate with me to what I could take for a set price. I'm so thankful he did that for me I couldn't believe his kindness. I don't know if it has to do with how I was behind the bar because I used to take care of guests that had financial problems or mistakes too and I wonder if Robbie is proof my karma is good. I promised him and his coworker I would come back and repay them someday!!!!!! So overall. Great experience, the only negative experiences were the ones I brought upon myself and the poor gentlemen working at this UPS. Everyone is probably wondering where I've been--well, I haven't been writing reviews as much as I used to (ah, those were good times for me, when my reviews carried weight and I was heavily sought after LOL) except for special occasions and this happened to be one of them. read more

The folks here are perfectly nice but the prices are astronomical... point in case... a small roll of bubble wrap here is almost $6. A box here, 24x12x12 is $5. A box that better fit the contents I was shipping, one block down at the post office was FREE, the bubble wrap was $3. Hmmmmm.... So in order to buy the box, the packing materials and have the folks at UPS do it would've come to $21 not including shipping... smarten up folks. DIY. read more

Customer service is OK i am not going to say anything bad about it. Packages get to where they are going on time like with any other UPS places, BUT PACK YOUR STUFF AND BOX IT ON YOUR OWN, the prices for packing material and packaging is absurdly enormously overpriced. Buy a box and some packing peanuts or bubble wrap at office max or office depot and do it on your own no rocket science there. Hope this review helps read more

The reason I gave it one star is because I can't give it zero stars. Customer service is terrible, all the people behind the counter ganged up on my because they wanted to charge me 3 dollars to print a UPS label for an existing prepaid package. They told me they don't make money from these. Ok, but since when is printing one black and white page cost 3 dollars? They were extremely rude and combative about it so I just walked out. I wish they can improve on their much needed customer service skills. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service experience I have had at a UPS store. DO NOT trust their notary public services. On two recent visits there was a different notary public official working each time. Strangely each notary had different requirements for notarizing my documents -- which were the same document with minor revisions. Now it appears I have probably paid to have a document inaccurately and incompletely notarized and have also probably wasted additional money having the inaccurately notarized document UPS'ed to my lawyer. Besides the questionable notary public services, the overall customer service experience was -- "take it or leave it". During this dismal economic downturn, one would think a small business owner would be more concerned about preserving relationships with exiting customers. I recently shipped a television from the UPS Store. The 2 guys working at the store have always been helpful when shipping and picking up items, but were especially helpful shipping the large television box. The box was considered oversized and was to be assessed an additional and significant charge to be shipped. The guys at the store helped me resize the box to avoid the additional shipping fees. They brought out the box-cutter and their own cardboard to help me out. WIll definitely be taking all of my shipping needs to them in the future. read more

We needed notary services, visa photos and an overnight delivery to meet tight paperwork deadlines for an upcoming trip to Brazil. The person who assisted us (I believe it is Steve Wong) was friendly, professional and made the whole process easy. Great and quick shipping. UPS is usually the cheapest for shipping heavy packages for me. I find the staff helpful and quick, I lost a receipt for a previous shipment a couple of weeks ago - and they easily looked up my information and gave me the tracking number of that shipment. I had one of the most weird experience using this store's computer to access my UPS online account. I sliced my credit card on this computer and used the internet only for a few minutes. I was charged $3.00 for the use and I got a printed receipt for the amount. I later found out my credit card was charged another $19.95. I went to the store the next day to ask about this charge. I was told it was something in the computer use agreement. They would charge a larger amount (more than your usage amount) from your card first and then wait for 72 hours to return the amount to your card after they receive your usage amount. So they are holding my $19.95 for 72 hours to guarantee receipt of $3.00? read more

Smooth transaction, professional, friendly + patient service, clean. I've never had any problems with this particular UPS location. Most of the time I already have my packages pre-packed prior to arriving at the store, but sometimes I would walk in with the items. The staff are really patient and offer good suggestions on the best possible way to ship my package. I also appreciate that they try to start conversation with the customers. It eliminates that awkward feeling of standing at the counter as you watch them type in all your information into the system. The couple times, I've shipped from this location it was quiet. I've never encountered a line which is good. Although I do wonder about the staff. I really admire how they can still keep their composure even when it's slow and boring. It's not easy to do. This UPS Store is fantastic! Fast, friendly and professional! The kind guy working the counter was really efficient as well as friendly. I was in and out of there in like a minute (for drop off) with my receipt and tracking number! I needed a little bit of assistance with my package too and he helped me with that really quickly. Came in to buy a shipping box. The guy working there was helping a customer ahead of me, who was filling in some forms, and indicated that he'd help me when he was done with that guy. But then he answered the phone and had a long conversation with somebody, and then helped another customer who was coming in to drop packages which he was scanning for her. After about 10 minutes of this BS I asked him why he was not helping me, and his answer was that it was easier for him! for him! read more

I had a UPS package sent here because I knew I would not be home to receive it. Now you're thinking this should be a safe bet - NOT!! They gave my package to someone else. I received an email that the package was picked up, I called right away to let them know that I did not pick up the package, they said it was probably misplaced. I went to pick it up and it wasn't there, they checked and it was picked up. I asked if they checked this person's identification - obviously not. Three people were working that day, all three said they weren't there when the package was picked up. No one was sorry, there were no apologies, nothing. If you want your packages, definitely do not have them delivered here, find a different location. I was so dissappointed at the service and lack of accountability. read more
