I use this place regularly and have for more than the last 10 years or so. I'm leaving this review just as a counterweight to the endless bad reviews this place seems to be getting. I like using this place. It's the same couple young workers there all the time. They don't remember me and that's fine. They just deal with an endless line of people all day long sending packages, making copies, or shipping back returned items. It's the same repetitive routine with them having to keep explaining the same instructions and corrections because we don't do this every day like them. Are they incredibly friendly and customer service oriented - not exactly but they do get you what you need to know and try to get you along on your way. This is not the kind of place where people would want to ooh and ahh and leave an A+ review because it was so great, or something. So all they seem to get are lousy reviews from people that were frustrated. That's not fair. They will try to help. One time, i recall, the fellow (i guess "erik" per other review comments) even was really kind and just paid for my fax fee himself because I'd forgotten to bring anything with me in rushing out to catch them just before they closed. A company emailed me a label for a demo product package so I can send it to another customer group to sample and evaluate. I tell the CSR I have a label for the package and just need to print it, and that it's attached to an email. Should I email it you to print? The CSR's response: "It's $5.00 to send us an email and then $.15 to print." Me: "$5.00???" in a 'are you sure?' tone . Him: "Yes, $5.00." Silence. Me: "OK...can I just print the label from the email myself?" "Yes, but it will cost $5.00." Me: "$5.00? To print a label?" Him: "Yes." Me: "But it's $5.00 to send you an email?" Him: "Yes. And then another $5.00 for a label." Me: "I think I'll ship this somewhere else." I will now go to my local office services store and take care of this for $.50 or less. This is my go-to UPS store. I have been dozens of times (hello, Amazon returns) and I have never had to wait in line. This is mainly because they have a self-serve kiosk. Cell service can be spotty so I always pull up the Amazon return label before entering. read more

Opened almost 15minutes late and there was already a line because a few of us had arrived on time to drop things off on the way to work.

I was at this UPS Store @ Irving Street in San Francisco this morning (Monday, Dec 23, 2024). There was only one clerk behind the counter - one whom I encountered a year ago and complained about a year ago to UPS corporate offices with similar attitude as I experienced today. After that complaint last year, the Owner of the store on Irving Street called me back to apologize. She was very nice. This morning, I was the only customer when I entered. I said "Hello" to him and he did not look at me and did not respond with a counter "Hello". I placed my 2 packages (all sealed with return labels) in front of him and he still did not look at me and did not say anything to me. I said "Hello" to him again. That is when he finally turned to me and yelled "HELLO" with an extremely angry countenance. I stood there and he didn't even touch the 2 packages. I finally asked him for his name, and he said it was "Eric", although I'm highly doubtful that is his real name. It's very sad to see that this particular clerk has not been properly re-trained. The Owner was very nice when she called me back last year (once she was notified by UPS corporate of my complaint against the same clerk). I suspect I've seen her on duty on the weekends. I'm really surprised to see the poor reviews for this location. This is my 3rd time here and the employees are pretty cool and doing their best. . They were very helpful and informative. I mean, it's probably pretty stressful dealing with people who are coming in annoyed that they had to stand in a line to send something that they ordered with a click of a button on Amazon. The scanner thing for Amazon packages did not work for me but at least they are trying to address the problem. Let's try and be good to each other, folks. Just left this store and it was the worst experience. The self service drop was being used by a customer with multiple packages. I walked up to the counter and was greeted rudely by a male employee with glasses. It seemed like I was bothering him when he was doing absolutely nothing. I told him that I would have used the self service counter if it was available. He rudely gestured me to hurry up and provide him with my QR code. After he scanned my code it threw the receipt at me and walked away. In my younger years, I would have jumped over the counter and got in his face. You provide a service to the public and we have a choice where we want to go. You should be thankful that customer come in. I will never come here again. read more

Zero stars do not use ups because even if they put fragile sticker on your package because it is fragile and you put extra insurance on it they will not do anything to make it right when they ship it and it gets broken because someone working for them crush the box they don't care about your package all they care about is your money this is a warrning to not ship with them you be better off shipping with the united postal service. I will not longer use UPS because I have shipped some fragile stuff as they know and put a fragile sticker on box in which I did wrap my fragile stuff with bubble wrap and put packing peanuts around it and it still got broken and they will not do anything about it being it was there fault it got broken when someone can not read and to be gentle with the package if it was there package they would have took care of it but like I said all they care about is the money and sadly I paid a lot of money to have my package sent and they can not even reimburse me for the shipping fee so yes I will not long be using UPS for my shipping needs will take my money else where. read more

I've been here for various reasons, mainly for online store returns. Word of CAUTION: do not take passport photos here unless you know exactly the size, background and photos you need. I didn't have my hair behind my ears and the photographer didn't tell me to do it, but the photos were rejected for my passport. I've only came here once to drop off a package to be shipped. Since the damn CVS drop off point wouldn't take it ... They don't take international packages... like wtf I'm only dropping it off and you don't do anything but set it down where the designated area is. This is an update of a previous 1star review. I thought the store was improving from the last 2 years - nope! I returned four (4) Amazon items at the same time at this location on August 17. On September 21 I got an email from Amazon stating that one of the items still has not been returned so I will be charged again. Thumb's up. I was really pressed for time and wide swaths of Irving Street were being torn up. So, parking seemed impossible and my Amazon return was heavy. There was no good option but to park illegally - and pray. I dashed in and dropped off my heavy box and got a receipt in under twenty seconds. If you're on the near west side of the city, this UPS Store is ON IT! And, while parking can be a little challenging in this nabe, it's usually doable when the street's not being excavated. Sorry the worst experience I've ever had. Just tried to have a dispersion document notarized. Waited for 1 hour. Simple process but Angie though sweet doesn't understand what she's doing. Simple all she need to do is take my ID, verify signature sign... Simple... yet Angie wanted to try and understand a document. That's not her responsibility and is outside her purview for her service. It borders on unprofessional. I use various UPS Store locations both around my home and my office. This one has repeatedly proven to be the most unfriendly and unhelpful UPS Store locations around by far. I've been back a few times for simple drop-offs or called for various questions about shipping items. Every single time the man who is normally there every day (owner/manager?) has a very obvious "What do you want?!" attitude in his voice and demeanor. Don't even try asking him questions about various services that the store offers. Here's my most recent and final interaction with this store: Me: Do you hold packages for customer pickup? Him: Yes. Just make sure they're not big. Me: What does big mean? Him: Big Me: ... *I hang up* The owner can try and say it's a language barrier thing all he wants but shouldn't he and his team learn or try to improve on what people are telling him are mistakes? And really, a smile or helpful tone of voice is a universal thing that everyone from anywhere knows about. If you have another UPS store in your area I HIGHLY recommend spending the extra time driving to that one instead. read more

Great speedy service. Went in for notary services, yes we had to pay $$$ for printing but this is the cost of not owning your own printer. The process was straightforward and efficient. While we waited, I did observe irate customers over their errors. If YOU don't have proper documentation to return YOUR packages, it's NOT the store's fault. My biggest issue with this place is moreso the national chain. OMG is UPS stupidly expensive. This location is like any other mediocre retail establishment - it's got your PO boxes. It has a computer for email checking + printing. And, of course, you can mail things. Customer service is perfectly fine. I'm annoyed at which one man behind the counter once tried to upsell me proper packaging when I probably did not need it. But I view this job like most others like it - the people who work here prolly hate doing it. So I forgive them a little. But only a little. I used UPS overnight service to ship my passport to a canadian consulate to get my visitor visa stamped, with return envelope. On the way back to me, UPS lost my passport somewhere in Bell,CA. Shitty situation, unlucky, but still leaving a 5 star review because once Arne (from this UPS store) found out that this happened, he took over the communication between me and corporate UPS, kept calling me everyday to communicate the latest happenings in the investigation and kept me updated. He also tried to get some compensation for the lost passport, which in the end was just shipping costs, but appreciate the effort. After month a later, someone did find my package in Bell, California. And Arne called me, to report that package has indeed been found. I've never had a problem with any of the employees or services at this location - just the opposite. The place is clean, and service is fast, efficient, and friendly. Plus they offer other services, like machines to make copies, faxing, and a notary, in addition to mailboxes and other things. And the location is convenient. With so much at one location they are a time-safer, as well. They are so much better than another nearby UPS drop off place there I was twice ripped off by being way overcharged for a 2-page fax and subsequently having a box totally disappear and never make it to the UPS truck after the wife refused to give me a receipt for it that there is no comparison! read more

If you are a business they force to purchase a medium size mailbox - I'm opening a business that does not require receiving any mail, but I don't want to put my home address to file my LLC... I do not need a medium mailbox, but this place would not give me a small mailbox, they said if it was for my business I would have to get a medium mailbox. I took my business to Postal Chase on Cole (1 mile down from this place), they do not require you to get a medium mailbox if you are a business... you can get a small mailbox which is half the price of what this UPS store was trying to charge me. This UPS location's mailbox setup fee is also higher than Postal Chase on Cole. Highly recommend going to Postal Chase instead of here if you are opening a mailbox for a business...
