Lame! You simply cannot get in touch with this location by any means. They fail to pick up the phone no matter when you call and their voicemail has been full as long as I've lived in the area. That would be less frustrating if they, say, responded to emails or 'contact us' form submissions from ups.com - but they ignore those as well. I get that shipping places can get busy at times. The situation I'm talking about involves a sustained effort to ask a necessary question over the course of two weeks. Honestly maybe they should save some money and drop their phone service if they're never going to use it. When a business has a full voicemail that never empties, I've found it correlates to poor outcomes for the customer. At the least it doesn't reflect well on the store. read more

Usually overcrowded, the staff is curt and gruff with customers. On a Saturday, with the customer line wrapped around the store, I asked if the notary was in before I stood in line. The counterperson deferred to an older male manager type, who said "no", and that the notary would not be in tomorrow (Sunday), either. He stated that the notary was only available Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You draw your conclusion about the business model of this franchise. read more

Had two bad experiences here. First, they lost my laptop that I was shipping to be repaired. Luckily I could prove it was lost so I got reimbursed but that didn't stop the fear that someone stole it due to their incompetence. They also refused to take an amazon return because they insisted it needed a box. Even after I spent 22 minutes on the phone with amazon while still in the store and the customer service rep also said I didn't need a box. The UPS employee kept changing the reason why i needed a box and the assistant manager Fred then tried to blame Amazon saying that the amazon rep was saying things to get me off the phone. Mind you the rep from Amazon spent 22 minutes on the phone making changes based on the ups employee's insistence that he was right. Definitely use another store for your needs. I will. read more

I went to this UPS Store to get a document notarized and witnessed. When I arrived, they informed me that it would cost $15 for each witness (yes - a human being signing his name) and $25 for the notary. So $55 for 2 witnesses and a notary - 3 human beings signing on a line. When I informed them that in NYC, where I used to live, the UPS Store charged $4 for a notary, they told me that each store is permitted to charge a different rate. When I asked him if their goal was to charge the absolute maximum amount, the clerk (perhaps owner of this location) proudly said "absolutely." Needless to say, they've lost my business for life. PS RocketShip in South Orange only charged $7 for the notary. read more

I am a bit puzzled by these negative reviews. I've used this store over many years and they provide the same services as most UPS stores. I haven't noticed anyone being particularly rude or unhelpful although occasionally they are short of staff. Actually they were very helpful packing items and providing options. Whenever I come here it runs hot and cold. Most of the time, for me its a simple drop off and I get the OK. If it's anything more involved sometimes the staff are friendly and attentive and other times not so much, I'm not speaking of staff simply helping other people, I've caught attitude or sighs of annoyance as I try to ship something. At the same time its convenient as there aren't a whole lot of UPS places and the Post Office nearby can be a very slow. I appreciate the presence and contribution to the community that UPS and the staff provide but the best way I can describe my experience on occasional visits is mediocre. read more

Charging $1 to tape the boxes when other locations do it free of charge is a bit inconvenient. The weather today is humid and muggy and it is hotter and more humid inside this store. I feel bad for the employees but Briana greeted me with a smile and was very quick (I used a brochure to fan myself). I'm new in town and stopped in to drop off a prepaid UPS package. I asked them to throw a piece of tape on the package. They charged me $1 for the tape. Fine, I paid it. I asked for a receipt for the package drop-off and was rudely told how they can't do that because "they're not UPS" (they CAN by the way, they just CHOOSE not to because it costs them money). Fine, I left without a receipt. I get it. Owners of this location think they're losing money on customers dropping off prepaid packages. So they create policies to recoup and head off those costs, and they treat those customers with resentment when they come in. What they don't understand is that one piece of tape, a smile, and a receipt would have gone much further in creating customer loyalty. I did a fair amount of paid business at my last local UPS Store. That's business this UPS Store will never get -- because I'll never go there again. read more

Absolutely deplorable service. After waiting an hour with only two customers in front of me, one of the employees here was shockingly rude, blatantly annoyed at the 7 packages I had to ship (is that not what this business does?), and then spoke to me as if I was stupid and did know my own phone number because HE was unfamiliar with the area code. A second employee looked at one of the addresses I was shipping to and then, unprompted, announced that he thought it was "a terrible, stupid company," before asking if I worked there (luckily I do not). If these customer service employees hate their jobs so much that they take their anger out on the customers they're employed to help, they should find other jobs. read more

I have never been treated so rudely by a customer service employee. As someone who works in the service industry I was appalled at how an employee treated me when I had a simple fixable error on my package. I try to avoid this place at all costs. This man is an employee, not one of the owners and I'm sure they know who I'm talking about. I truly cannot say enough negative things about this UPS and the people that work here. If they weren't the only local UPS I wouldn't come here ever. But they know that, so have no incentive to try. Weekends there is only ever two people at the counter and constantly a line. Not particularly pandemic safe. The workers have zero customer service skills, are in zero rush, and will strait up ignore you. Currently waiting on line, tried to ask if the printer was working because i received an error and I need to print. I was ignored and then she walked away. Just brought 2 prepaid UPS packages to the UPS store in south orange. I left them on the counter. They proceeded to tell me that you are not allowed to leave them on the counter and they brought them outside and left them at the front door intentionally so nobody would pick them up. I then had to pick up the packages and wait in line to place the packages on the counter. I spoke to the owner who said that due to COVID procedures I must wait in line for 20 minutes to "drop" off the packages. Would not go here again. I had an amazon return, there was a short wait - my product was scanned and I was given a receipt in return - I didn't even have to ask! The new manager makes this place pleasant. Do not let this store charge you $25.00 for a notary. It is not legal in the State of New Jersey to charge you to have a document notarized, if it is for one signature and one person signing the document, the price is $2.50. I went to another UPS Store location, and they charged me $2.50 for the same document to be signed. They need to stop ripping customers off. read more

I would recommend you find another place to shop your packages after my recent experience with these jokers. I went in earlier this week with a boxed and pre-paid package. All I needed was someone to accept the box and scan it. When I walked in there was one worker helping another customer and a second sitting on top of a counter top doing something on his cell phone. He only got off his perch when two other customers came into the store. He approached me and I explained what I needed him to do. He told me that it might not be picked up that day because they were behind in scanning in items they needed to ship. So you can't do your actual job that you are being paid to do but you have time to sit and text or whatever you were doing on the phone? Ok buddy. I took my item back and went to the Staples in Maplewood. They were friendly, efficient and assured me that my box would go out that day. The manager of this location of the UPS store should be ashamed of the terrible customer service. Update after reading the managers comments: That is 100% not true. Nice attempt to shift blame on me by saying that I attempted to jump the line. I was there between 4:30 and 4:45. I work at the East Orange VA on Tremont and my shift ended at 4:30 so I would say closer to 4:45. I stand by my original comments and I think the fact that it took you this long to respond to my negative review lends even more credence to it. read more

My experiences at this store have always been positive until my last visit. I used them about a month ago to send priority mail only to find out it did not reach its destination. Last week I went to the UPS store seeking assistance with this matter. The person waiting on me rudely told me that this was not a tracking number on my receipt. He also said I needed to go to the post office. I asked him why I needed to go to the post office when the transaction was done here. Once again I was spoken to rudely. I went to the post office and they assured me since I did the transaction at UPS it was their responsibility to give me a tracking number. I understand mistakes happen, but it is inexcusable to treat customers poorly when they do, and now I haven't any idea what happened to my packet. read more

Unfortunately this is the closest, most convenient UPS location for where I live. Normally, I go in and just drop off pre-paid packages. This time however I had to post two packages, and I was unable to get prepaid labels for either beforehand, so I waited in line to ship them. The person helping me was friendly enough and I arrived an half an hour before closing. I got the first package shipped, which took ten or so minutes. Then just as I was about to get the second shipped, I was told that they were closing in just a few minutes, and that the system would 'shut down' and that I had to come back tomorrow to ship it. I understand that this time of year is especially busy, but I wasn't too thrilled that I would have to come back and do this all over again especially as I was in the middle of shipping something that really needed to go out. I am a small business owner, and it's difficult to take time off for trips to the post office. read more
