This is my second Yelp review, my error for returning to this store. I needed to send a fax, after waiting in line for 5 minutes, the worker proceeded to tell me that it would be $2.50/sheet to send a fax. It would have cost me $17.50 to send a fax. Who in their right mind would pay that, total price gouging. What is that about a 200% profit? And Pak Mail charged me less than half of that amount to send the same fax. Find a Pak Mail to do all of your shipping and faxing. Better customer service and more workers to help customers. Win win with Pak Mail. read more

I went to return a package/gift that require a box. I asked if they had extra boxes and he yelled no you can buy one. While I attempted to change the return to not require one I apologized for him being frustrated by the question and said I had no intention of upsetting him. I was just curious why sometimes amazon requires a box and label and other times it does not. He did not accept my apology and continued to be a complete jerk. I honestly haven't experienced that sort of customer service like that from anywhere in a very long time. I had some sensitive documents to print and fax (medical records - you know how it goes) and I went into the UPS store to get help. Vincent took care of me, the staff on duty was excellent and helpful. I think they handled two or three other customers with returns, two other men walked in while I was in the store to do their own business/check a mail box. Everyone was in and out quickly. I was impressed with the volume of customers and the array of solutions available. Vincent took care of my print/fax quickly and efficiently, he was respectful of the personal information being handled and let me delete the email from the inbox (and showed me the junk box and recently deleted boxes to be sure it was gone too) Definitely appreciate the support! I'm a bit taken aback by my last experience here at this location . I went in to buy a box and print a label. I said multiple times I wanted to buy a box only and I just thought the owner was being nice but he was just trying to make more money and charged me for my box , the packing materials and a packing fee . I just wanted a box . When I was quoted 20$ for a box and seemed shocked the owner kept quiet and tried to rush the transaction. It wasn't until after I was done printing my own label and asked him "next time I want just a box how do I ask ? " he replied "you could have stopped me I didn't know you didn't want me to pack it for you" I personally feel like they should disclose prices and ask "would you like me to pack it for you ? Today, July 6, at 12:23 PM I brought in an Amazon return package that was required to be sent via an official UPS store. Although I've read many negative reviews, I've had good service from this location for many years, but what happened today was so disgusting that my rating has gone, in one trip, from a 5 star to a 1 star. I'm 75 years old and was struggling to unload from my truck bed and carry this very large box (containing a collapsible wheel chair) weighing approximately 50 lb. When I got to the store's double door entry which only opens to the outside, I could not hold the box and open the door at the same time, so I propped the box up against the left side door, the one that's usually, for many businesses, not even unlocked. I held it there with one hand and my knee. I opened the right side door, re-established my grip on the box, and entered the store. If I had placed the box on the ground to open the door, I would've had a very difficult time lifting it up again. There was no one around that I could've asked to open the door for me. There was no one exiting the store. The worker and I were the only 2 people in the store. I greeted the man with "Hi, how you doing today?" His response was "I would be doing OK if you'd not tried to break my door!" To which I respectfully responded "I was having a problem getting my box in. I always wonder why stores like this don't have doors that swing both ways." I don't recall his exact words, but after he threw my receipt at me, he rudely left the conversation by walking into the back room, and said on the way something about me "not having the intelligence to correctly open the door." After he insulted me, I then stated "Now I see why this store has so many negative reviews" to which he responded from the back room. Don't remember exact words, but they included "Get Out!" FYI, there was absolutely no abuse, much less damage, to the left side door or its mechanism. When I propped the box, there was a minor noise when the door set firmly against its latching /locking mechanism. I have ID'ed the time of drop off in case anyone associated with this store wants to know who this extremely rude employee or owner was. As far as I could see he was the only worker there at this time. He was a little on the short side, just slightly heavy, with a small black beard/ goatee. I suspect, from reading other reviews, that he could have been Joe. This store is only about 5 minutes from my home, much closer than the others in town. So, I intend to go there again when I need to, which thankfully, is not very often. One more episode like this and they will never see me again. read more

BEWARE - I am quite disappointed in the owner and manager of this UPS Store. I dropped a FedEx package in the no receipt required box so as not to disturb whatever the owner was doing at the time and allow him to process it as his convenience. The owner did come out of the back room and acknowledged me as I dropped my package in the box and asked if I need a receipt. I told him no. I received an email from the package recipient two weeks later saying my package never got to its intended destination. I understand this was my fault for not realizing it was a FedEX package instead of UPS. When I called this store, the manager answered and he could not explain to me what would have happened to a package in this situation. They continued to avoid answering the question. This gave me the impression they simply kept the FedEX package and never did the right thing and called the number on the package or found a way to get it to FedEx. After the manger could not give me an explanation, the owner got on the phone and was quite rude. He simply told me he did not have my package and I should pay more attention to the shipper next time. He then promptly hung up on me. I live only a few minutes from this store so I got in the car and went up there to see if I could get an answer in person. When I arrived, I tried to determine who was the manager and who was the owner. I continued to ask the question about what would happen to a package like this. The manager simply deferred to the owned. The owner accused me of harassment and ask why I was there. I asked again if he can tell me what they would have done with my package. It was clear he didn't want to answer the question. Bottom line - if you use this store, make them do their job and get a receipt. They now have my $200 package and I have no recourse to hold them accountable. This level of deceit is far too common these days. Came to this store for an Amazon drop off .The manager yelled at a child because he was holding the door open . The young man was holding the door for his mother. The manager was concerned about his air conditioner. I assumed maybe he had a bad morning. I gave it another chance . I went to drop off an Amazon return . I walked in said hello. . The girl be hide the counter did not respond. I approached the counter and I said hello. She finally said hello. I explained I was there for a return . So far so good...In the Fall (2020) I started using this location for my business mail. The owner, Joe walked me through pricing and made sure I had keys for 24/7 mail access. It was a quick and very affordable option for a new business. Since that time, I have used their services for business cards for 5 different people. One of the times, there was a slight misunderstanding which resulting in my business cards not having all the information I wanted. He responded promptly and made sure I was compensated for the mistake. When I check my box (several times a week), this location is ALWAYS busy. The best thing he has done to improve customer service is hire additional help. This is definitely a convenient location for my small business, and I'm glad I don't have to choose an option further from home. read more

Joe has a great attitude and I believe most of these reviews are because expect too much or had an unreasonable request. (Hint: Do not try to return a sofa you bought online by taking it to a UPS Store, instead, call UPS for a pick up). When visiting a UPS store keep in mind that these locations are franchises. They need to make a profit in order to remain in business and provide service to you. If you need postage stamps order them online or go to USPS. If you want to buy them from a UPS store then you should expect to pay more than the current cost of the stamps. That's part of providing a service. I usually use this store with no problems, however, today the assistant was so annoyed because the chip on my credit card was not working properly, that she insulted me and went on to the next customer. I then said she didn't have to be so mean and she told me to "f" off! The other clerk shrugged his shoulders and helped me complete the transaction with no problem. Don't go here unless you absolutely need to like I did. The first gentleman who helped me return some Cox Cable equipment was very sweet (the only reason for the second star), but, when he had to ask the manager about something else I needed, I was shocked at the complete lack of customer service skills. I was told, "he's the boss" when I asked if there was anybody else I could speak with. When a few people in line called him out, he ended up helping me by slamming the box I was picking up (with breakables in it) on the counter and asking me for an ID and to sign something while being totally unable to hide his disdain for me and my needs. In the end, I did what I needed to do there, but not without a fight. FYI, I was returning something from my recently deceased father's home to Cox and picking up a package my mom had held before she got severely injured and couldn't travel back to the store to get it. I had one of the worst customer experiences of my life at your 1340 great neck rd store in Virginia Beach, which is the oddest place to have a bad customer experience. Joseph Barbour the manager and owner (spelling?) embarrassed me in front of others, belittled me, and made me feel like crap all because I handed his outstretched arm a preprinted Amazon package return "ahead of another person." He yelled at me to get in line even though there was no line, and only one other person in the store. I have dropped off many Amazon preprinted packages and have always been told just leave it at the front desk even if other people are making longer transactions. I am a doctor with Sentara and would never treat a patient that way. He asked what my problem was, and why I couldn't wait, and why I thought I was more important than the other person. I never asked to go first, but I simply handed him a package that he put his hand out for. I don't know why this happened. I asked him if he was having a bad day. There was no reply. I left, but I was so upset, and I that I pulled around to get his name so I could write you an email. I know you may not be able to do much. I own a mailbox there. I will be going elsewhere for my mailbox needs from now on. I will drop my packages elsewhere. He really embarrassed your company today. I have no idea why. His number is 757-496-9584. I guess I'll use kinkos FedEx or find a different UPS. Reading Yelp, looks like a good not the only one with a bad experience with this manager. Next day, went back to retrieve my mailbox contents and close my account with the store after an awful experience you can ready about the day before. After getting my mailbox, I informed him that I emailed UPS corporate and left a review on Yelp about my experience. Curse words started flying from his mouth: "Fuck you, asshole, get the hell out of here." Screaming at me in front of the entire store. Then he proceeded to say that he looked me up as a psychiatric practitioner and that I should go back to "killing people." What an insane guy! Stalking me on Yelp when I have nothing to do with him medically and he's not my patient? This guy is totally crazy. I called UPS corporate and reported the incidents from both days. Never would have ever thought a UPS experience would ever go like this in my life. Ever. This is so bizarre. Only the craziest people on my inpatient psychiatric unit act like this. Maybe he's untouchable because he's an owner of his store. But he lost this customer and please be aware of this type of person. I wouldn't be surprised if he logged into Yelp and acted as a patient of mine just to leave a bad review. That's the type of person I was dealing with. Told me that something couldn't be done simply because he didn't feel like doing it, went to another store where my same request was not an issue. I was greeted with completely unacceptable behavior. I checked the hours and the UPS that is located closest to me showed they closed at three pm and the one that is a little further away showed they closed at five. I had two Amazon returns that would have taken no time at all. I have done it several times before and it takes me longer to walk from my vehicle to the counter then you doing the entire return itself. I park my vehicle and walk to the door and I see the hours show five pm and two men inside sharing a laugh. One of the employees goes to open the door for the other man and I am told they are closed with the nastiest attitude. I made a statement that the hours show five and they have no sign on the door stating that they are closing early due to holiday hours. Just an attitude that showed the most disgusting approach. The man pulls the door shut then repeats himself! This time louder "ma'am we are closed! In which I understood nor did I have a problem that they were closed early! However, a better approach would have been appreciated. No sorry we are closed. No due to the holiday we are closing early but we will be open XYZ. I ended up running other errands then I was driving past the location over an hour and a half later and the employee was still there with no sign on the door indicating the holiday hours. I wouldn't recommend doing business with this location it has a 2-star rating for a reason. Would not recommend this location to anyone! read more

Bottom line: incredibly poor customer service and communication Caution to consumers: Avoid self-packing valuable products, the term "insurance" was not correctly used, read the fine print as UPS does not take accountability for the product (ie. putting fragile on the box has no significance) Direct communication w/ the following: store clerk, manager (Joe Barbar), and Monique (corporate representative) Self-packaged computer tower shipped from VA (Great Neck) to CA (Midtown Sacramento) with additional $ spent to claim value of item). Packaged was cleared by clerk to be shipped. ~1.5 weeks later, the package arrived extremely damaged, far beyond standard care (ie. major dents, holes in the box, ripped tape). I unpacked computer tower to run analysis - complete nonfunctional computer, as even the CPU fan was ripped out of the screw sockets. Filed damaged report immediately, and instructed to ship back the box exactly how it arrived/packed (nearly impossible to do) to UPS (Great Neck). UPS took 3 weeks to pick up package in which UPS claimed the box was not available despite multiple calls to UPS damage claims with clear verbal instructions. UPS finally picked up the damaged package with a false claim stating I refused to allow inspection of product. After ~3 wks, called UPS (Great Neck) to follow up after not being notified of status of claim. UPS (Great Neck) refused my photo evidence. Damage claim inspection service (separate entity) rejected claim, stating not the package was not packed to standard. UPS (Great Neck) rudely demanded that I pay for the package to be sent to myself again (w/ added cost for each day) without any compensation because they have absolutely no responsibility in this incident. After speaking with corporate (Monique - very professional), UPS agreed to ship back package free of charge. Package arrived 1 week later with MISSING items. Called UPS (Great Neck) - claims no responsibility. Result of this encounter with UPS - completely non-functioning computer tower, damaged peripheral computer parts, and loss of entire bag of electronics. Estimated loss: more than $800.00. read more

The owner's name is Joe. Really nice guy! I succumbed to a scam via craigslist and shipped an item to CA from his store. Thankfully I realized it was a scam before the package got to its destination and had it turned around. The package arrived at The UPS Store the next day. I knew it was a long shot, but I asked if it was possible to get a refund on the shipping and insurance. Joe was still waiting for a response from UPS Corporate but wanted me to have my package back and decided that he would refund my money and work it out with UPS Corporate on his own.
