I was so excited to start the Beekeepers for Veterans class. It was hands down one of the most interesting things I have EVER done. Keith and Danny were so welcoming. Their passion for beekeeping is obvious by the way they instructed us in the history of beekeeping , how important the honey bee is to is and the components you need to know to learn and eventually execute safely tend to your own beehive. Jenn gave a beautiful tea pairing outside and explained how honey brings out the natural flavors in the tea. We met the bees today and it was so fascinating. Due to the cold and windy weather we were unable to get into the hives. Hopefully next week. There is a lovely gift shop on site and of course I had to score some honey. I also bought a hat to wear to the rest of my classes. Can't wait to learn more. You must check out the Valley Hive and Topanga Nursery. It's a hidden gem I hope you and your family will enjoy.

    Such a cute shop

LOVED this place! has all the cutest items here for "Bee" themed gift giving. Delicious honey to try and plenty of books, aprons, stationery etc. here for your gift shopping needs. Customer service was fantastic and parking was convenient. Respectfully Reviewed

Our grrlzzz enjoying a drink at their watering hole.

These beekeepers are the kindest most generous and welcoming people you'll meet. They are so knowledgeable about bees and beekeeping and are willing to patiently share their knowledge with you... even if you've done something stupid with your bees and are about to have a panic attack... or maybe because you're about to have a panic attack and they'd rather you didn't have it in their store. They will literally hold your hand (with consent) in their apiary while showing you how to properly inspect a frame to find the teeny, tiny eggs you've been looking for. And just like that, you'll never be scared to hold a frame of bees without gloves on again. ;) The LACBA Beekeeping 101 class series they run is excellent. Keith is an awesome and inspiring teacher and a kind and funny dude, Danny is extremely helpful with answering questions at post-class meetings, Robin is so sweet and wonderful and has walked me through all kinds of beekeeping equipment and helped me make informed decisions about what would work best for my honey harvesting needs, Gabe showed me and my kid the observation hive and has been so lovely and helpful with gathering supplies and loading gear into our car, Jen talked me off a cliff when I was freaking out over a backyard swarm and trying to decide if I should capture it and add a third hive to my backyard or let them go... after talking to Jen and Keith, I felt confident enough to capture them by myself, but by the time I got back from TVH, the feral galzzz were gone from my tree. Which leads me to the first rule of beekeeping: Bees will do what they want, not what you want them to do. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try to convince them. There are other wonderful people who work at TVH and have been part of our new adventures in beekeeping, but I don't know all their names yet. Also, the Topanga Nursery is excellent... I bought everything I needed to make a whiskey half barrel watering hole my bees love, which has evolved into its own thriving ecosystem and aquatic snail paradise. Just add water and some water plants and let the magic happen. Your bees will thank you and leave your neighbors' pools alone. Pro tip: Plant some snacks around your watering hole. Bees love African basil, and these folks carry it. Shout out to the super nice plant expert who helped me at Topanga Nursery and told me about African basil pesto. So flavorful! One day I'll learn your name. Could this review be any longer? Welp, I'm not on social media, and you're looking at almost two seasons of good vibes that just got uncapped during the honey harvest. Lastly, because show and tell is the best, here's photographic evidence of the joy The Valley Hive has brought to my family's life. From our first jar of harvested honey (extracted last week!) with our little galzzz 's hives behind it (got all our bee boxes, frames and stands at TVH), to grilled chicken thighs made with TVH's Hot Honey (easy and delicious!), to the bees' watering hole. Yes, I also uploaded a picture of fruit salad. Why? Because the magical shimmery part is honey. I encourage you to try all of The Valley Hive's honeys. My favorites are their avocado honey and their orange blossom honey, my husband is big on their barley honey, and our son, Winnie the Pooh, says he "likes ALL the hunny equally." That said, each one is unique and incredible in its own way, like a little flavor poem for your taste buds. See for yourself!

The space...AMAZING, service, product quality and pleasantness UNMATCHED! I have found my go-to GEM for some of the ABSOLUTE BEST HONEY that you'll ever taste!! I can promise that you will NEVER look back to store-bought honey again after tastings from the Valley Hive! THANK YOU for making this an experience and I will absolutely Bee back soon!

We were at the valley hive on a special night so hard to get a true appreciation of the place! The event they had was a big success with food, drinks, raffles and dessert competition. Plus music. The store is super cute on the premises: with of course all sorts of honey related things. Very cute items.Plus there is a mega bee cone that you can watch the bees at work. They also sell plants. The plants and statues seem a bit pricey but this LA county in a busy area. Would like to stop by again when there is not a special event to get a true appreciation of the store and grounds.

It was so much visiting ! Gabriel is so knowledgeable! We learned alot ! Tasted several honeys and bought several too! The garden is so pretty and i bought a thai chili plant too!

This was truly an awesome experience! We learned so much about bees, and their role in not just our food, but our lives. And the world. I strongly encourage anyone to go to this experience. We loved every minute. It was 95° that day, but we didn't even notice how hot we were because we're having such a good time.

Literally the only place I'll buy my local honey. There's lots of options, you can sample them so you can see there's more to life than one kind of honey. I recommend the avocado and eucalyptus. Always quality! Keith is awesome bee keeper, knowledgeable about entire the process. The employees are helpful and friendly too. You can also walk around the beautiful grounds, it's like being transported into a very special place. Also a great place to bring your kids to check out a working hive and learn more about beekeeping/bees. They'll also love walking the grounds with you!

I loved their drink selection--they offer wine, cider, and beer alongside standard coffee. Their food menu is also solid, featuring sandwiches, charcuterie boards, and pastries. We visited on a Thursday morning & it was surprisingly packed; every table was full. We managed to snag a spot in the middle, but the space felt very cramped. We were so close to the next table that we could hear their entire conversation, which wasn't ideal. My friend enjoyed the club sandwich, which came with a side of tater tots. We both tried the hibiscus iced tea--it was refreshing, but I have to admit it was a bit lacking in flavor. They have a cool selection of games, plushies, shirts, and coffee beans for sale. The back lot is extremely small. Plan on finding street parking. Arrive very early to beat the crowds! Overall, It's a fun place to hang out and I'd likely stop by again if I'm in the area, though the close quarters are something to keep in mind. IG @balicookingadventures

It's the kind of place that quietly delivers excellnce without needing to overstate it. We ordered the lavender latte and it was hands down one of the best I've ever had. The balance was spot on; just the right touch of sweetness, with the lavender delicately infused so it complemented rather than overpowered the espresso and milk. It's an ideal Café - nice people ( employees and customers ), a simple menu, a clean look, and good service. We grabbed a hot Salted Butterscotch Oatmilk Latte, an iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte, and a Cortado. All three were fan-flavor-tastic with great aromatics. The sandwich selection was simple but appetizing: Egg Salad, Turkey & Cheese, and Mortadella with Pesto and Mozzarella. The lady at the counter suggested the Turkey, but once my wife saw the Mortadella offering, it was a closed deal. Their sandwiches are made in house, built with good proportions. The proteins in all three were generous while the bread was hearty and fluffy. Just the right amount of sprouted greens, dressing, and cheese for the mortadella. Grabbed an egg sandwich to go. Prices were fair and comparable, quality was high, and the customer service was pleasant and conversational. Coming back here again.

And you can see the beautiful Chatsworth Rocky Mountains in the background as well. There are a few drawbacks. The parking stressed me out. It's on the busy Topanga street and the lot inside can only hold about 5 cars. A few times when I have turned in, it was so tight and hard to get out. Another time there was no parking and Topanga was packed with cars for an event at the nursery. I parked probably a half a mile a way and walked into the nursery to get my coffee. They had a huge line and warned us they were backed up about a half an hour. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. On the weekends it can get so busy. I really enjoy their drinks. They have so many to choose from. The guys are very knowledgeable about the flavors and offer great suggestions. When I first started going though my drink was $8 and now it's $10. It's just hard for me to want to spend $10 for my coffee and it's gone so fast because it has a lot of ice. At other places, sometimes I will get two coffees but at this price I would not do that. So unfortunately even though I love this place o won't be going as often as I was. I was going once or twice a week but now I will only do it on special occasions because of the cost. One other drawback is the inconsistency of times. I checked the hours and twice I went when it said they were open and they were not. So it was just a little frustrating and then I had to come up with an alternate plan for me and my friends to meet. I like this place but I just definitely will not be going as often as I was at all.
