holy sht I didn't know there was a hidden gem among us, especially in this porter ranch plaza that I've definitely passed by multiple times, but inside this store (I went with my gf around 5:30 pm on a friday), there was barely anyone which seems to be contrary to what they normally experience. but we were maybe the second customer in line, ordered the bulgogi kimbap and also had the kohana matcha - pistachio and original matcha latte. All things we got were absolutely delicious. The kimbap was sooooo fresh and the pieces were nice and hearty and not too small or big. I loved the freshness of the vegetables but still had a good amount of protein from the bulgogi and egg. I thought it was really good, definitely better than TJ's kimbap (sry that's the comparison) or any kimbap that I've had in the valley. the pistachio matcha was REAL pistachio, not fake pistachio flavor. For the japchae I wanted it with bulgogi ( $3 extra for the meat) and it was ready within 15 mins, which was perfect because that was the distance for the drive from my place to there. I first tried it when a friend picked some up for a quick dinner, and at that time I really enjoyed it -- especially the anchovy, along with the bulgogi and tuna rolls. This time around, my experience was a bit more mixed. I ordered delivery, and it was right before closing, so that may have played a role. I ordered the tuna and anchovy kimbap and the kimchi fried rice. Unfortunately, the tuna kimbap felt completely unseasoned -- there was very little flavor compared to my first experience. The anchovy kimbap, however, was still solid and remains my favorite item on the menu. The kimchi fried rice was also disappointing. While I appreciated that it came with a runny egg, the rice itself lacked flavor and didn't have the bold, tangy kimchi taste I was expecting. Stopped in to try this restaurant. Walking in was a little confusing as the food aspect of the store was in a back corner. The main part of the store was a acai bowl (and other flavors) and a tea bar. We went to the back to look at the menu and then came back to the bar area to order our food. We both got the Bulgogi box and we shared the K-Kimbop. The counter person was helpful and nice. The food came, and we dug in. The K-Kimbop was good, but needed some sauce. I added a touch of soy sauce. The Bulgogi was good and the box was arranged nicely with the noodles and pickled veggies. It also came with a side of whit rice. All in all, I enjoyed it. My faves are the tuna and bulgogi kimbap with the thin layer of rice, finely sliced carrots and cucumber, and the perfect ratio of bulgogi or tuna to round out the roll. This is a place to go for the food. Preferably to-go. It really isn't set up for dining. The hot food on the limited menu is authentic tasting and the ordering process is easy and pleasant. The drinks are canned or bottled. That seems to be common within smaller establishments. It is very annoying to me. If I want to pay double what Walmart charges for a manufactured beverage, I'll just do that. Fountain drinks are not expensive to set up; the beverage companies do it, and profits created by bag-in-box beverages are very deep. In fact, in most restaurants, the majority of profits are generated in soft beverage sales. We didn't try the cold food or bubble drinks, I generally buy more savory food.
