We had no choice but to travel north since the freeway was closed into Reno and traffic in the north valleys was catastrophic gridlock. We had to travel north on Red Rock to 395. Through cell phone tower failure when my wife got a brief bar of reception she reached out to River Pines and Jess was amazing and was able to get us a room. We arrived there around 10:45 pm and Jess was waiting for us. The hospitality, empathy and kindness demonstrated by the owner and staff at the resort was so genuine and truly appreciated. We stayed 3 nights until we could return home once the evacuation was downgraded. Despite our circumstances the staff made our stay as pleasant as possible. My wife and I can't thank River Pines enough for being so accommodating to us. We spend a lot of time in Graeagle and the kindness shown by everyone we had contact with in the area just truly demonstrates why Graeagle is a special place.

My dad, my husband, and I decided to rent one of their cabins for an evening in order to have the best chance of viewing the Geminid meteor shower. We drove up on a Saturday afternoon and arrived shortly after check-in time. Our cabin was ready for us when we arrived. Although small, it had all the necessities and was clean and well kept. The bed was comfortable and the linens were soft. My dad remarked that even the sleeper sofa was comfortable as well. The fire provided nice warmth and I appreciated being able to adjust the temperature via the thermostat. We enjoyed playing games and cards around the kitchen table, and purchased some bundles of firewood to have our own bonfire in our personal fire pit in the evening. The biggest highlight, besides the stunning night, sky and ability to see so many stars, was being able to bring our two dogs with us. We appreciated getting to borrow water bowls, and the doggy bags and treats that were provided. Just some things to be aware of before you book a cabin at Constellation Creek - the water is not potable so you definitely need to bring your own. We were only there for one night so this was not a huge inconvenience for us, but if you plan to stay for any duration, make sure you have plenty of your own drinkable water.

Even though Truckee is a short jaunt away, you feel like you have gone into the backwoods. When we opened the front door to the cabin, there was a Smeg refridgerator and John Prine on the record player! The little details were phenomenal - organic products, great coffee from a place in Truckee. Georgie and Seb, the owners, make you feel like you are friends. They welcomed us both coming and leaving the property. The owners also pay it forward with volunteerism to the homeless youth of the area. The sound of the creek makes you forget everything. There were many hammocks in the forest. My favorite was finding the chairs in the forest. I would take my book and relax. My husband loved fishing the creek. He caught seven fish. He threw all back. If you are looking for an opportunity to disconnect from technology, this is the place. Can't wait to go back!

Chelsea, the host, is what makes this place special. She adds little touches to make it unique and heartfelt. And she is so warm and inviting, it's like you are immediately family staying at her house. From the little envelope with your name on it when you arrive, to the books everywhere, to the vintage artsy decor- you can tell she put so much love into this Inn! I joked with her saying I was going to move in because the vibe was so wonderful. The rooms itself were fairly roomy and incorporated the same vintage feel through out. The bed was super comfortable and she provided extra pillows to make our stay perfect. The bathrooms were modern, clean, and felt like you were at a spa. We stayed in the Clemens Suite, but next time we might bring the kids and reserve the Harte Room. I love that she has the history behind each name of the room and the Inn itself. She did a great job at preserving the history of the town. The only negative I have is that we didn't get to enjoy the backyard as much, but it wasn't the Inn Keeper's fault. The backyard was beautiful and serene, but the next door neighbor was obnoxious in making noise and had some political signs up. He's probably the town drunk so I didn't take off any stars because staying there was still five stars despite how ridiculous the neighbor was. We will definitely be back!

Our unit had a huge living room, and like all of the other cabins we visited, it had the smallest tiniest bedrooms. Our closet only half opened and we had to wrap a towel around a bed leg as we kept knocking our toes into it. The bathroom was small but clean and adequate. The kitchen was large. Which was good, we put our trash in the freezer at night. Because you had to keep the windows open to get any coolish air. And the window was right above our trash can, and we needed to NOT tempt the bears. Yup, because a bear was looking in my SIL's bathroom window one night. And a bear and 2 cubs were spotted at night in our complex. And bear prints were on SIX of our different vehicles. And a bear came into a cabin at the next resort over. AND they'd been in two of the Shangri-La's cabins the previous week..when no one was there. They don't come in if people are there. Yeah, right. Until one day, they do. Nice ladies run this resort and it's run well, BUT I have a few words for them. Liability. Window unit acs. Amazon. Yes, bears.
