Harmony Ridge Lodge was truly more than perfect for our wedding. One of the biggest reasons we chose this venue was that it gave us a whole weekend with our family and bridal party, and that ended up making such a huge impact on our experience. Some of the most intimate and meaningful memories were made before and after the wedding, during breakfast, late into the night after the rest of the guests had left, and in all the quiet little moments in between. It made the entire weekend feel so special, connected, and full of love. And the beauty of the venue is honestly hard to put into words. Choosing a venue is such a big decision because it sets the entire tone and vibe of the wedding, and Harmony Ridge Lodge was truly the magical enchanted forest garden party venue of our dreams. Our wedding was on June 13, and the flowers, greenery, trees, and forest backdrop must have been at their absolute peak. Everything felt like it belonged in a fairy tale. The string lights, lanterns, gardens, and surrounding forest made the whole space feel warm, romantic, and magical. We had our rehearsal dinner here too, and brought in some Mexican catering, which ended up being a great way to maximize our time at the venue and it was so fun! For other engaged couples navigating the venue layout: there are many options for where to have your ceremony ( in the forest or gazebo), and dancing (renting a dance floor to have near the dinner area or the dance pad out front). We had our ceremony at the gazebo which was epic and beautiful and our dance party out front at the dance pad. Up until the wedding itself, I was worried that having dinner and dancing in separate spaces would split up the guests, but it ended up being perfect. Everyone was on the dance pad all night, there was so much space, and it looked so beautiful once the lights came on. It created such a fun and lively atmosphere. The breakfast was also incredible. Our chef was amazing, and we had several vegan guests who were so grateful to have thoughtful vegan options that actually had protein, flavor, and care put into them instead of just toast and fruit. We had a Feb 2025 wedding here and it was perfection! We rented the entire lodge from Friday to Sunday. We had our close family stay in the 9 rooms which was roughly 30 people. The staff was amazing, from the venue tour to booking, helping with any and everything the day of and just all around amazing people that work there. They cooked breakfast for our whole crew both mornings and there was not one complaint from any of our guests. Lots of drink options which I love, they have coffee, orange juice, a huge variety of tea, milk, something for everybody. The day went on without one issue, I am very type A and their response time was amazing throughout the whole process and especially on day of! I can't recommend this place enough. We also went back and stayed the night on our one year anniversary and it was covered in snow, absolutely beautiful! We were sad that Faith, the manager, wasn't there as I feel like we really connected with her last year but Michele was there who was also very kind snd accommodating. read more

I had my wedding here and while it was the perfect day, I had to spend a lot of time thinking how I had to write this review. First of all, the owner of the lodge, Tongming was SO easy to work with. He communicates so well with you and gets back to you quickly both through email and text. He honestly made the entire process of wedding planning incredibly easy. We rented out the venue for the weekend as I wanted to have the wedding completely personal - my family prepped the food, we set the ceremony/reception area, etc. So the only staff around was one guy, Clark. Another staff member, Faith, helped us out giving us the keys was nice when we were checking in. But she was not happy when we were leaving. I think there was a miscommunication because I had texted Tongming to include the cost of clean up from staff the weekend we arrived. So it was a last minute addition to the contract. Specifically, I asked Tongming what we *needed* to clean up before we checked out. (I'm attaching the text message). And he said we can just walk away, however my family and I felt guilty if we were to just leave everything out so we did as much as we could to restore the lodge even though we were paying extra to have the staff clean up. So, when we were getting ready to check out, Faith came in and the first thing she said was "You guys still have a lot to do". Confused, I asked what she meant and she said we had to clean up the kitchen and put the furniture away. I had told her that we paid for the clean-up process and she was going back and forth with me. So, I resorted reading the text message Tongming sent me verbatim and she said "Okay well if Tongming said that, then that's an issue between him and I'll reach out to him". Then she walked away. Honestly, the vibes my family and I were getting from the staff when we were leaving appeared so hostile that it kind of ruined all the happiness we were feeling the entire weekend. It was clear that the staff was making comments about how we left the lodge when we were ready to check out. Thankfully, Tongming reassured me and sent another sweet message saying that the lodge will always be our wedding venue for life. We were both apologetic to each other for the misunderstanding. Otherwise, I would recommend coming to this lodge as a wedding venue. Our guests had so many great comments about it and the weather was perfect in the summer. If I could take away the interactions we had with the staff, I would give this place 100/10 stars!!! read more

What can I say about Harmony Ridge Lodge?! Truly the most amazing venue, and we are so incredibly happy we chose to have our wedding here. It was actually the first place we toured--and we knew right away it was the one. The stunning gardens, the cozy lodge, the serene forest setting--it's all just magical. The entire HRL team is absolutely phenomenal. Faith, the venue manager, is a rockstar--super responsive, helpful, and always happy to answer even our silliest questions. TongMing, the owner, was also incredibly kind and responsive throughout the planning process. We also want to give a huge shoutout to Melissa and Sage, who went above and beyond making breakfast for our guests during the weekend with such warmth and care. Being able to stay onsite made our wedding weekend even more special--it gave us extra time with our loved ones, more time to set up, and more space to just soak it all in. Spent an amazing weekend at my favorite place: Yuba river ! Glad we found this place . It's pretty close by & best part about it... it's dog friendly ! HUGE PLUS. We stayed at room #1 . The room was super spacious . It had 2 queen beds and a sitting area which was really nice . Our dogs has plenty of room to roam ! I loved that they have a secured gated " garden area" . It was a really good place to go for a walk with the dogs at night. The grounds are gorgeous ! So many redwoods , trees & plants everywhere ! So beautiful to be surrounded by nature . I can defintely see why a lot of people get married at this venue. A huge bonus to free breakfast that was included with our stay ! Thanks Clark for an amazing breakfast & the homemade jams ! It was delicious. He was super friendly & our dogs loved him which is peculiar since they always tend to bark at everyone. Dog whisperer ? The only thing I would probably change is the creepy pictures in the room ... the aesthetics of it looked nice but when you looked closer at the photos they gave me a weird creepy vibe. I also didn't like how they had light sensors in the bathroom . The lights turned off when I was showering & that scared the living daylights out of me -__- Other than that , I would defintely stay again at the Harmony Ridge Lodge ! Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Heating and cooling units provided ample means to control the temperature to whatever we wanted. Breakfast was great too. This place is beautiful. Perfect for a wedding or special event. I wasn't here for either. Nope, no romance for me. Not even on TV, cause there aren't any. I couldn't have watched 90 day Fiancee even if I liked that tripe. Thank you Harmony Ridge for peace and quiet. I was lodged in room #4. A smallish accommodation, but just fine for this lonely bachelor (not to be confused with "The Bachelor" I don't watch that crap either). It's tucked away on the far corner of a building. But that only enhances its charm. The seclusion allows for the quiet to perform its magic. Interrupted only by the sound of birds and bees. Ha! I had to get that in seeing how this is a wedding venue. If ya know what I mean. Nudge, nudge, say no more. Your hosts are exceptionally helpful and kind. You'll be treated as a guest rather than just a paying customer. They'll send you on your way with a satisfying breakfast and a smile. Enjoy your stay. I did, even if I couldn't watch the Dodgers pound yet another opponent into submission. Quick Tip: Their WiFi sounds a lot like crickets. Unless those were actual crickets. We stayed here for a weekend away from home. It was a quaint and beautiful place, perfect to disconnect and have a relaxing time off. It's right off the freeway and there's a grocery market as well as a restaurant next door which was super convenient. Downtown Nevada city is only 5 miles away and has plenty of restaurants and eating options as well. We stayed in Room 5. The room was quite large and comfortable, it had a private patio with an awesome view. The room also had a large jacuzzi and dining table. There is no TV in the room but internet is pretty good. They weren't offering the regular breakfast part of the B&B due to Covid restrictions but still offered a decent grab and go breakfast each morning. On the days we stayed they had a hot breakfast wrap, mini egg muffins, pastries, fruit etc. We visited in early March and it had snowed just a few days ago, so the property was covered in snow. We couldn't walk through the woods and enjoy the beautiful garden because of the snow but it was still good to watch and enjoy the view. Really great place to disconnect and relax. Come here for a quiet and relaxing weekend, it won't disappoint you. read more

My husband and I had our wedding here last month and it was AMAZING! Harmony Ridge Lodge is such a beautiful venue. We were lucky enough to rent out the entire lodge from Thursday - Sunday and if you're able to do that, I highly recommend. It was so nice being there a few days before the wedding and having the ability to set up a few things the day or 2 before and they have a great breakfast every morning. Tongming (the owner) and Faith (the manager) were both SO helpful and responsive. Faith even gave my family and I a great recommendation for a dinner spot for Thursday. The rooms were large, beautiful, and clean and the yoga room we used as the bridal getting ready room was the best - set up just right for that kind of small group. Another bonus - Faith knew many of my vendors so that helped the prep of my wedding, they were all able to speak and work with each other making my job easier. We had the ability to take over the property with all our family and friends and spent three amazing days getting to enjoy each other, and have so much time to set up for the event that the day of was FUN, not stressful. Harmony Ridge Lodge is a hidden gem. We had our wedding here in October and it was magical. As Bay Area residents, many of our guests were wondering why we were getting married in Nevada City. But once they saw the venue, they were blown away! The grounds are something out of a forest fairytale with towering pine trees surrounding a quaint lodge with a breathtaking garden. The owner, Tongming, is so friendly and welcoming. He let us come to the venue multiple times before our wedding. He and the manager Michelle were so helpful and kind during our covid wedding postponement. Our entire wedding party was able to stay onsite at the lodge, making it a mini destination wedding. The rooms were comfortable and large, many had their own patio or balcony. And Michelle made breakfast both mornings for us all. And it is relatively affordable for a wedding venue considering your have lodging for the entire weekend. This venue is something special and I am so glad we chose it for our wedding. If you are even contemplating having your wedding here, do it! I can't say it good enough things about Harmony Ridge Lodge, the owner, Tong Ming and his entire staff! Where to start, the grounds are immaculate! The landscaping and greenery is absolutely breathtaking. The venue is ethereal and surrounded by towering pines. Summer is hot, but the shade helps and the umbrellas available were a lifesaver. It is nature, so beware of ants and bees! Michelle and Faith were both so kind and gracious throughout our stay! They made themselves available, but never hovered or felt like they were watching. Tong Ming takes incredible pride in his property. We saw him in the morning after doing maintenance and even directed parking during our wedding! Pet friendly and breakfast was amazing! We had frittata one morning and delicious, light fluffy pancakes with bacon and sausage the next morning. We did a weekend wedding buyout and the rooms were clean, comfortable and a great value to host all of our guests for the weekend. I just needed to use the kitchen to cut up fruit. To make a fruit tray. The kitchen dude Clark wouldn't let me cut up fruit for a fruit tray at 6:30 am. Let me say the island in the kitchen was empty and he was using the stove. It's absolutely ridiculous. I was told I would have access to the kitchen. Nope. Wedding morning I was informed I couldn't use any of "his" kitchen area. Unacceptable and now I will be late making the bridal fruit trays. Be warned. It is difficult to think about what I want to say about the amazing experience we had at Harmony Ridge Lodge. I feel like I will miss something! We recently hosted our wedding at HRL, and it was truly magical. We rented the entire lodge for 5 days, and all our immediate family came to stay in one of the 10 guest rooms. It became the "home base" for everyone, which was perfect as this was a destination for all of us. Even those guests who were staying in other nearby hotels still came to the lodge for dinner and spending time together. The staff at HRL was so friendly and easy to work with, and they took phenomenal care of our family while we were there. As a wedding venue, it has everything you could possibly need - including tables and chairs so you don't have to rent. There are outdoor ceremony and reception spaces, as well as a huge indoor "grand hall" that can be used for indoor event. This proved necessary for us, as our May wedding ended up getting covered in snow! Since the outdoor ceremony lawn in artificial turf, we were able to shovel all the snow to the side and still have the outdoor wedding of our dreams. We used the grand hall for our reception, and it was absolutely perfect. The snow threw us for a loop, and I was so thankful for the HRL staff for jumping into action to help us adjust and make it perfect. The owner himself, Tongming, was actually out with a shovel clearing a path for our guests to safely move around the grounds. I was absolutely floored by the "next level" service we received. As a bed and breakfast, I highly recommend HRL. The breakfast they make for all on-site guests is absolutely amazing. It is quality food cooked fresh and by people who know what they are doing. We had a total of 25 people that were staying on-site, and every morning there was plenty of fresh, hot food for everyone. Overall, we may not be getting married ever again, but we will return year after year to grab a room at the lodge and enjoy the beautiful Tahoe National Forest! read more

We loved staying here on our 30th anniversary. Rooms are large, private and quiet. Grounds are full of trees and flowers. Park like area. Breakfast is home cooked and gathering in the evening in the main house w/ others is nice. A tiny market across the street is so handy for snacks, beer, wine, forgotten items since the place is next to a state park. Great hiking available and close to town but far enough away to be the the forest. Deer and birds to view at a distance. Cool breezes in the evening moving the tops of the pines, such a relaxing sound. Statues in different serenity sitting spots and there is a new large building for yoga, meditation and events like weddings. My only dislike is the motorcycles that will gun it on the roadway and it echos. Not much can be done about that but it ruins the peacefulness of the area. We will be back read more

WEDDING GUEST REVIEW: A friend got married here last Saturday and even though it was 100 degrees outside, the wedding was lovely. The ceremony location was well shaded for the most part and really quiet. The staff brought out some umbrellas for the reception and were really friendly when guests asked questions. The food was buffet style with three options: tequila lime chicken, butternut squash ravioli, and a carved tri-tip station. The pasta was the most flavorful (I went back for seconds!), but the meats were tender and tasty too. The only negative thing I have to say is that the parking lot is extremely small and not practical for a large wedding. There were several people who had to double park, and there is literally only one taxi cab company in this town (No Uber or Lyft drivers at all), so do get here early if you are attending a wedding. read more

Through all the planning, the COVID delays, and any other stress that might come with a wedding, we were always SO grateful we were able to hold our event at HRL. The owner Tongming was perhaps one of the most easy-going, friendly, flexible, and helpful people I've ever met - they truly wanted our event to be a success and it was evident in all our communications. The grounds are beautifully kept, and it's so peaceful and private. To find a venue that allowed us to rent it for the entire weekend (for both the welcome party and the big day), had rooms for guests on-site plus getting-ready spaces, offered multiple spaces for different uses (ceremony, reception, dancing, after-hours) so things felt fresh - we couldn't believe our luck in finding this spot. I came here for a wedding. The rooms in the lodge were not cleaned & ready for the guests. The place was trashed from the wedding the previous night and the staff was no where to be found. So there was A LOT of time wasted on cleaning up their grounds when it should have been done by the staff. Also, it would have been nice if there was a staff person available during the wedding. I ended up cutting my finger and needed a band-aid. I found a first aid kit in the kitchen but it wasn't stocked and No band-aids so I had to use tape. ‍‍‍ It's a beautiful setting. The beds were comfortable and the water was nice & hot for the shower so that's a plus! The breakfast was great too! My husband and I only stayed one night, but it was delightful. We arrived late but, as promised, there was an envelope on the office door with directions and a key. We stayed in room 4, the handicap room, which was huge and very clean. The breakfast served in the morning COULD have been the usual cold, pastries and bagels, but Harmony also also added delicious homemade breakfast burritos which we heated up in the microwave. During breakfast we had a chance to chat a bit with Michelle, the chef and manager, who was delightful. Prior to that, all of our communications were with Tomgming (aka Tommy), the owner. Tomgming was very friendly and enthusiastic. After we checked out, we even stayed an extra 2 hours to read and enjoy the lovely surroundings before heading out to look at houses (note: there were no events at the resort while we were, so we were the only ones on the deck, otherwise we would have respected the facility and left right away). We're planning to move to this area and will make Harmony Ridge Lodge our first choice in the futures stays! read more

I planned to have my wedding here and booked in January of 2020. Little did we know what would be happening with the world in March. I set a date with deposit, and when covid took over the world everything changed. I got a pay cut, my husband was out of work and stuck in another country, and having a wedding in a year didn't seem possible. I contacted the owner to push the date back a year, and he was so understanding and did not hesitate to accommodate us. We soon realized that covid was not going away, many of our guests from overseas would not be able to travel, and ultimately decided we had to cancel our wedding. It was really heartbreaking for us, but the owner was, again, absolutely lovely and accommodating about everything and was able to refund us upon rebooking the date. They made a sad situation a lot less stressful. Even though we never used this venue (although we have visited twice and it is so lovely) the outstanding service and compassion we received from the owner from start to end has been absolutely outstanding. We would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone. read more

My immediate family from the Bay Area and East Coast stayed on-site for the weekend and were so impressed with the facilities and the service. The owner, Tongming, was super communicative throughout the process and even emailed us a few days before our wedding to give us reassurance that a local fire was not effecting the air quality at the venue. We stayed 1 night with our dog. It was beautiful with serene gardens. And the outer forest area - a few acres - outside of the garden was also fenced. We took our dog for an early morning stroll without having to worry about coyotes, etc. No TV which was nice as I could wake up to the sound of trees and birds, rather than politics. Room was spacious and quiet. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is the mosquitos made it difficult to sit outside for any length of time. Not so bad when your walking, but pesky if sitting. And the staff minimal. We got there after 5pm and a key was left for us. Never saw anyone until the next morning. I would have liked to meet or learn about the owners. The cook did not share much and it was his last week. The only other person I saw there was the grounds keeper who kept to herself. So if your looking for a quiet place to enjoy nature, and go with a dog - its a good find. read more

Hidden Gem! This location is perfect....close to Downtown Nevada City, Scotts Flat Lake and Emerald Pools! The property is breath takingly beautiful with colorful landscaping throughout! The Chef/Team cook up a great breakfast to suit everyone's taste-buds!! My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick getaway not too far from Sacramento, but far enough to get away from the city, and this place truly delivered. Although we didn't bring any pups, it was very nice to get acquainted with other guests' furry friends. About the place: -The room was HUGE and the backyard was literally the Tahoe National Forest. -There was a beautiful hike/bike trail right next to the lodge, which led down to a lake. -Everything about the location was perfect. We were able to relax in the room during the evening, and then take a short drive to a beautiful hike during the day. -The grounds were fun to roam through (see the dragon sculpture and hammock). About the service: -Nicole was an amazing hostess! -The breakfast in the morning was simple but delicious. Nicole made sure that everything was well-stocked. -The room was equipped with a small handheld LED lantern, which came in handy when I went for an evening hike and stargazing. I purchased a Groupon for this lodge because I'd heard about Nevada City. The gardens around the lodge are quite lovely and the room is fairly quaint. I say "fairly quaint" because there was what seemed to be a blood stain on one of the bed comforters. Although we had a microwave and little refrigerator in the room there were no plates or cutlery included so come prepared if you intend on making use of these appliances. There is breakfast in the main lodge but I had greater expectations. The first morning it was oatmeal which was rather bland and I couldn't find any fruit...fresh fruit...I think they had some dried fruit. The next morning I think it was an egg dish but very simple. If we didn't live in the Northbay, we'd probably end up in Nevada City or Grass Valley. It is truly one of the most beautiful places we've ever visited and the nearby Yuba River is a huge draw for us. Google "images" and you'll see how stunning it is--any time of year. Lucky for us, we basically have home away from home right there in Nevada City. HRL offers clean/comfortable, safe, pet-friendly (big plus), conveniently located accommodations. The staff is friendly and attentive, and breakfast is delicious. It's become an annual tradition to pay a visit to HRL, and there's really no better place to stay (although camping nearby is awesome, too). The places in-town are overpriced and touristy, and if you want to be closer to nature, this is your spot. Even if not, driving into town is easy enough to do. We're heading out there this coming weekend for yet another stay, and as tempting as it was to log onto AirBnB and book something cheaper, it was a major hassle going back and forth with stingy and picky homeowners; I see now that it's really a poor excuse for a business and isn't regulated in any way. I've decided to dub it "AirBnBummer". We had to read novels on the site, and figure out if we can bring the dog, if it's child friendly, and somehow keep track of everyone's house rules, texts and emails, and round and round we go. Exhausting, I tell you. Going with an actual establishment like HRL makes for a quick, easy, and professional transaction. We are so incredibly excited to bring the whole family and enjoy our favorite suite, which is very spacious and includes a small fridge, two beds, a dining table, Wi-Fi, NO TV (which is a good thing), a two-person whirlpool (in private bathroom), and opens up to the lovely forested back yard--which is fenced in, making it safe for our pup to roam around. So, whether you stay in to get some rest, or head out to see the myriad of beautiful places near the property, you will likely leave with one more thing/place to daydream about when you get back to the daily grind. read more

We had the wedding of our dreams at Harmony Ridge Lodge this past Saturday, 4-16-16. Heather was wonderful to work with and the grounds are beyond stunning. Being able to have our family and wedding party stay at the lodge with us to make it a wedding weekend was a dream come true. We cannot get over how wonderful our experience was and our guests could not get over the lodge's beauty. Our son picked this place for his wedding this past weekend. So beautiful, friendly, the grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are big with comfy beds. Even had dog towels/lake towels in each room. The breakfast was great! The place is sprawling and the rooms so well insulated you are not hearing your neighbor. The views from the large windows are spectacular. There is a trail nearby for hiking and a restaurant/bar next store with many beers on tap. The owners are the sweetest and their staff lots of smiles and friendly waves. Our son and his wife had the best wedding memories ever and now they can go back again and again to celebrate in this beautiful setting. Bravo! read more

We had our wedding planned here for July 2020 and as others experienced, had to cancel. We rescheduled for 2021 and moved it once again to 2022. During Covid we had a very small wedding but kept our date at Harmony Ridge for a celebration with family and friends. Tongming was wonderful about rescheduling several times. Last weekend we were finally able to have our family (some from overseas) and friends join us for our celebration. This venue is so amazing and I can't recommend it enough. Wonderful memories were made throughout the weekend and we hope to return for a few days in the future. read more

I couldn't have imagined a better place to have had my wedding. Every little piece was memorable, and the staff was caring, made breakfast for us during our stay (which was delightful), and made sure my big day involved very little stress. The place is quiet and so gorgeous. It has the appeal of private garden cottages with the vastness and grandeur of the forest. Just a true fairytale. The lighted dance floor is so memorable and just completed the surreal picture for us.
