What a wonderful place! The cabin was well decorated and comfortable. The kitchen was well outfitted, with a lovely view of the river from the window. Covid rules were enforced and I felt quite safe.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights and it was amazing!! Made it up to see the snow had so much fun walking around the property. The cabins have heaters, blankets, bathroom toiletries and the kitchen is fully stocked with cooking necessities! No WiFi or service, you can drive about 45 min out to get some but it is nice to be off the grid for a few days. Highly recommend staying here!! And with covid, they do self check in and check out so you never come into contact with anyone on the property (: 10/10

We recently stayed at the Lure Resort during the Downieville Classc MTB race. The cabins are rustic yet luxurious in ear shot of the bubbling Yuba River. Full kitchens, comfy beds, hot showers. And it's a quick pedal away from town. Highly recommend!

This was the perfect escape away from the busy work life. The kitchen had brand new appliances and plenty of space to prepare a meal. We loved the fact that Downieville is a 2 minute drive down the road. We will be back hopefully for Christmas!

The New Lure. It's back. I never stayed at the old place so I can only comment on my first hand experience of the new old Lure. We stayed in Cabin 7 which is a studio apartment style. One big room with a separate bathroom, and a deck overlooking the river. The place has gone through some obvious renovations. The kitchen had all new appliances, counter tops, plumbing etc ... The utensils, cutlery, cookware, and glassware were also all new. We arrived late at night and had made arrangements ahead of time for the late check in. I'd forgotten exactly which cabin we were in, and was happy to find a note on the door with my name on it welcoming me. Dave and Barb are the hosts and were quick to communicate over email, as well as being super friendly and helpful the next day when I signed the registry. The whole experience was fantastic. I would not call it a luxury experience as you are after all in a cabin in the woods, but I do think of it as more premium affair. All of the touch points inside the cabin are quality products with many locally sourced. I think the rental prices reflect this more premium experience. After some discussion I found out that The Lure was purchased by a group of locals from around the region. That's good news for it's long term success. We got a chance to look around at some of the other options. There's larger multi-room cabins for larger groups, and smaller camping cabins that will be perfect when I'm going solo. Those camping cabins have access to a shared indoor shower, and bathroom. We come to Downieville several times a year for the mountain biking. Having a place like this to go after the riding for some relaxation makes a weekend of hardcore MTB into a total vacation. I can't wait to go back.

Do the cabins have air conditioning?

Hello Roger! Our cabins do not have air conditioners. However, our 8 housekeeping cabins are in the shade most of the day and the proximity to the river keeps the fairly cool. We also have fans in each room and overhead fans in the living rooms.

We stayed in the Feather Suite and it was spacious with a nice welcome book that tells you about the staff, the local restaurants, sites to see nearby and the number to text if you need anything at all. They do host a happy hour a couple doors down at Boomtown and depending on when you are staying, you may catch trivia night. Coffee and breakfast are pretty much right outside your door. Everywhere we went had #vegan options too. This location is incredible. You can fall asleep to the sound of the river or sit out on the patio to relax. Everything is just a few steps from your door. We walked right across the street to Jadaa's restaurant for lunch one of the days we were here. The town closes up fairly early do you don't need to worry about noise. This venue had been my number one choice since the first time I heard about it. After getting engaged, I submitted an inquiry but was too excited to wait, so about a week later I called for more information. I spoke directly with the owner, Steve Hines. We discussed pricing and decided to schedule a tour. Since we live over two hours away, I explained that we were hoping for a weekend appointment. Steve told me he would email me, and we scheduled a tour for August 9, 2026 at 2pm. We confirmed the appointment and drove over two hours to see the venue. We arrived a few minutes early and went inside, but all the lights were off and no one was there. I called out for Steve several times with no response. Just before our scheduled 2pm tour, I called him and left a voicemail asking where we should meet. A few minutes after 2, I called again to see if he was simply running late. I called both phone numbers that were provided, only to find that the office number forwarded directly to his cell phone. At that point, I became genuinely concerned that something might have happened to him. We walked around the property looking for anyone, went back inside calling his name, and even drove over to the rental properties he also owns after seeing a work crew nearby. We truly thought there might have been an emergency. Instead, we spent over an hour waiting, calling multiple times, and sending a text message. That text was read, yet we never received a reply, an apology, or any explanation for why no one showed up. As of August 16, 2026, we still have not received a single response. To make matters worse, the venue was unlocked with no staff present, and there was trash left on the bar along with cups sitting outside. This venue was the one I was most excited to see, so it's incredibly disappointing that the decision to book there was taken away by a complete lack of communication. I understand that emergencies and unexpected situations happen. What I cannot understand is choosing not to communicate with people who have invested hours of their day, traveled a significant distance, and arranged their schedules for an appointment that you agreed to. We spent over four hours driving, plus more than an hour waiting at the venue, only to be completely ignored. A 30-second text saying the appointment needed to be canceled or rescheduled would have shown basic courtesy and respect for our time. If this is the level of communication provided before a contract is even signed, it did not give us confidence that our wedding day would be handled any differently. We chose to take our business elsewhere, and I sincerely hope no other couple has to experience the same level of disregard for their time.
