There is a bar area next to the reception area. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The balcony was a perfect spot for pictures, overlooking the grounds. The location was spacious enough for accommodating the dance floor and guests comfortably (guest list was approximately 50-60). Dinner service was prompt and overall, everyone had a fantastic night celebrating the newlyweds.

He gave us so much info and wasn't rushing us away to talk to the other hundreds of people that were there. We told him we were looking for the Thursday before Good Friday, so most guests would already have a long weekend AND we could take advantage of the great Thursday off-peak pricing we've been seeing. PJ was so excited to hear this and started explaining all of the details of the fabulous Thursday packages they were offering at Birchwoods! This package included a cake, a photo booth, a DJ, AND A PHOTOGRAPHER, all for a reasonable price per person!!! After hearing this, we looked at pictures and immediately made an appointment to go visit the venue the following weekend. I was so impressed with the venue! The decorations are gorgeous, from the second you open the front door to the hallway to the bridal suite to the room you'd have your reception in, which happened to be set up for a wedding that was happening that evening. We also met Trish during our first visit, and she was also friendly and explaining any and everything we had questions or comments about. She was pointing out all of the decorations that are theirs, which are available for you to use for your big day to save money! PJ had told us at the expo that you can use whatever they have, from centerpieces, to table numbers to card boxes to the Mr. and Mrs. signs for the sweetheart table, all things available to you that you have to provide at many venues. Now, while we ultimately didn't choose this venue because we found another place where we could have our ceremony outside, rain or shine, Birchwoods ABSOLUTELY had my favorite bridal suite! This was the only one I saw with big gorgeous windows, which would've been great for pics while getting ready, as well as for natural light to come in while getting hair and makeup done! There was also a grooms suite in the basement, which most places don't have! So, they definitely had some great features that not many places had, and it's a place you should check out if you're looking for a venue with a lot of great features, and a reasonable price! Omg, I forgot to mention something else I loved! The ladies room! Bizarre, right? But this is the only place I saw that didn't have those tiny little stalls where you practically have to straddle the toilet for the door to swing in so you can close and lock it. I swear, between the ladies room and bridal suite I was a huge fan! Those were two things they had that beat the others, hands down!

No whipped cream for waffles, the scrambled eggs were cooked in the oven and they turned green, the bacon was woefully undercooked swimming in an inch of grease. The luncheon items were passable, but they had a random taco bar. It almost seemed like this was the first time they had brunch. Their Constant Contact campaign worked, but I would never eat there again unfortunately. Was there for a few dinners and a wedding. The space is very ornate, but the taste level is a little off. They had Christmas lights going up the steps, but they used the green ones that are meant for a tree. They make white stringed lights that would look better on the white painted wood - Christmas Tree Shoppe , $4 a box, or get them or buy on Amazon. They more importantly just need a better cook unfortunately, someone that knows the temperature to cook eggs and bacon or the common sense not to put it out looking like that. Tee boxes were a mess, dirt and mud dominated the designated teeing areas on most holes. Fairways were soggy in many places ... even though there hadn't been significant rain in three days. Greens were very slow and not well maintained - unrepaired ball marks, etc. Finally let's talk cost - $128.50 to ride 18. There are several municipal courses in the area that play better, are in better shape, and cost less. The only highlights were the friendly staff - starter, cashier, drink cart driver, and cart wranglers. Management needs to fix the course before they can demand these prices.

Difficulty: 9/10 This is one of the more challenging courses in the state. Very narrow fairways & challenging greens, with lots of water features and thick brush. Service: 10/10 There we're 2 cart girls when we played who came around frequently. They even provided the number for the cafe to pick up lunch at the turn- loved that!! Members of the pro shop were professional and courteous. Price: $85-110/round. Affordable lunch, drinks, and snacks! Pro Shop: 8/10 Lots to pick from here! They had awesome vest, quarter-zips, hats, and more! I was surprised with the lack of variety: no lefty clubs, very limited women's collection (gloves, shirts, skirts). Overall, we loved the way the logo looked on everything! Pace of Play: 4 hours 30 minutes. I've played at Oxford Greens a few times now. Be prepared for slow play. They have a great starter who lets people out timely and rangers monitoring play. Seems as though things get slowed due to the difficulty of the course, nonetheless playing here is guaranteed to be a blast!

During my time here in CT I've noticed that when it comes to your average "all-ages" events/venues…read moreyou get one of two experiences. You basically have to pick between hanging out with the dim-witted, mainstream types at loud, gaudily lighted "nightclubs" that are basically just high school dances with more skin and bouncers instead of chaperones or tiny, cramped, pseudo-hipstery music venues like The Space where you pay to stand around and be judged by even bigger douchebags in "Defend Pop Punk" hoodies. Where those places fail, the Amity Teen Center succeeds. They don't try to reel you in with goofy decorations that look like they came from a T.G.I Fridays managed by Tim Burton nor do they cater to the baser instincts of the young and stupid. They know their demographic and they use that knowledge to create an atmosphere that is both fun and safe. The bands that play there always bring something new and unique to the table and for those just looking for a place to get away from it all to hang with their friends and play some video games the arcade area is kept clean and orderly. The staff are more than happy to help no matter what and go out of their way to be as friendly and accommodating as possible. For them it isn't just a job, it's a second home, and that really shows in how well the place is run on a day to day basis. If you haven't checked it out yet and even if you're in the 18+ crowd I would highly recommend checking it out, especially on weekends when the stage is open to bands both local and touring from sometimes even as far away as other countries. It's definitely a place worth experiencing.

While I had never been to a VR arcade before, I have used an Oculus headset in the past and so I more or less knew what to expect. The staff member working at the time, Scott, was extremely friendly and helpful, and gave me an overview of all the different games that were available to play. For Room-Scale VR, they have 30, 60, 90, or 120 minute play times. I paid for 30 minutes, which was $28. I started off with an archery game called Elvin Assassin, where I had to defend a castle from orcs who were invading. I felt like Robin Hood, it was so fun! Next I played a Rythmatic 2 game (which was similar to Beat Saber) where I had to use light sabers to slash beats of music as they flew toward me. This one also required some shuffling back and forth, and I was honestly a little out of breath by the time I finished! I ended with a game called Ragnarock, which was another music game where you're sailing on a viking ship and need to pound drums with giant hammers to the sound of the beat. I was able to play all three games within the 30-minute session. I had a really fun time and can't wait to go back! I would highly recommend for a night out with friends, birthday party, etc.

I thought it was so cool to have the ability to play multiplayer games with our friends where we could actually see each other in-game, and they had an awesome selection of games to choose from (100+!). My favorite part was getting to do the racing similar with my fiancé. It felt so real, and the feeling of accelerating was so cool! I wasn't sure how I would do since I have a pretty bad history of motion sickness, but I was surprisingly fine. Xperiment VR makes a great family outing or date night, and would definitely be a great place for birthday parties!
