It's generally Mediterranean food as they have some eggplant spreads on the appetizer menu...we tried one and it came with fresh baked pita bread...WOW!! The wine list had some interesting choices and reasonable prices so we gambled on one we knew nothing about and it was quite good!! I had a great bone-in pork chop nicely charred with perfect mashed potatoes and veggies. My wife had steak kebab's with tasty veggies and peppers on the skewers. Accompanied by a delicious lemony rice pilaf. Our waiter was attentive and the food was delivered promptly so all good! The place had a great neighborhood vibe with a bar and outside seating.

The menu has roots in Italian and Mediterranean fare. Brick oven pizza starts with great dough, quality cheese and pepperoni. The best pizza on this trip. The deconstructed gyro platter is fantastic. Lots of flavorful gyro meat served along with fresh lettuce, cucumber, Tzatziki sauce, cooked potato and marinated tomato wedges. The roasted red pepper hummus is a great starter and the side of fries are well seasoned. The downside was the service. I had to get up a few times to get water, then again to get refills on drinks and additional napkins. I got up more times in that meal than I have at a fast food place. It looks like others were enjoying their visit, so I have to guess that this was not the normal service.

You have to order your food from the front register so no waiter (which is fine) we ordered some bbq tacos, BBQ chicken eggrolls, BBQ tot nachos, key lime pie and bread pudding along with cherry cola and sweet tea. In our honest opinion the only items that were good were the BBQ chicken eggrolls and the cherry cola. Everything was subpar. The key pie was grainy and lacked key lime flavor. The bread pudding was overly sweet and was very hard to eat. My BBQ tots were odd. The cheese sauce that was used tasted pastey and lacked flavor. The BBQ meat that was added to the nachos didnt add any flavor or depthness to the nachos. Lastly the tacos were flavorless, had to cover in the Chipotle BBQ sauce to eat them. Unfortunately the food made us both sick an hour after eating it. We both had upset stomachs. Im not sure what was the items that caused out stomachs to do that but I will not be going back to this place.

I love the quaint and rustic feeling of the space which contrasted with the elevated dining experience. The view of the Potomac from the courtyard and restaurant were spectacular The Strawberry Fields Forever specialty cocktail is a refreshing blend of strawberry, mint, and rum. The Palm Royale is just as delightful with St Elder and Pomegranate liqueurs with champagne. Ludmyla was very friendly and Alla the manager helped us out with gluten free options. We enjoyed the Hummingbird Salad, Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Lemon Linguine (with GF pasta) and Steak Frites. The Crème Brûlée and Flourless Chocolate Torte were a decadent finale for a splendid meal. It is hard to believe such a great restaurant is located inside a hotel. Hotel Indigo is very fortunate.

When I asked about the discrepancy, I was told the systems sometimes differ by a few cents. The adjustment was made when I requested to pay the correct total, but the response suggested that questioning "only two cents" was unreasonable. My concern was never the amount; it was the principle. When a customer is shown one accurate total and then asked to authorize a higher one without explanation, it creates the appearance of taking money that was not part of the stated charge. If I may add my two cents as a former patron and frequent restaurant guest: trust matters in a dining experience. Even a few unexplained pennies raise a reasonable question--if this occurs repeatedly throughout the day, where do those extra cents go? A couple of cents from one guest, a few more from another, eventually add up. Transparency in billing prevents that concern. When a discrepancy is presented without a clear explanation and a patron is made to feel foolish for asking about it, it leaves a bad taste, regardless of how enjoyable the meal may have been.

Especially in the winter time with the white lights lining King St outside. Tonight, we had an amazing meal prepared by Chef Tony. We started with their fried oysters on top of apple slaw and their potato and leek soup. The soup was piping hot with small hush puppy style croutons inside served in a beautiful bowl. It was delicious too! I don't even like oysters, but I liked these. Next came the Betty's buns and beet salad. The beet salad is such an interesting preparation with ricotta, raw and cooked beets, some herbs, orange segments and pistachios. I really enjoyed the brightness of the dish. And who doesn't love a good warm bun with butter? The entrees were really beautifully plated and delicious too. The catfish was our favorite with a delicious broth, poured table-side. I've never had a bison steak before - but this one was perfectly cooked with cippolini onions, chimichurri and sweet potatoes. The plating on everything was absolutely gorgeous. And for dessert - a spongy apple cider cake and creamy chocolate cremeux. I don't even like apples, but this cake was amazing. It had beautiful accompaniments as well. And the chocolate cremeux was served with beautifully poached pears and cranberries. We loved both. Our waiter kept our water glasses full, knew all the details about the menu and was so pleasant and prompt. Absolutely love it here!!!
