- Very clean restrooms w fun comic book art. - Food came in about 20 minutes. It looked good. - Brussels had just hint of sweet, I actually wanted them to have a little more, but they were good and crunchy. - Shrimp was piping hot, I almost burned my mouth! Not overly seasoned (I didn't use the sauce) and maybe grilled a little too hard and a bit dry, I had to chew for a while. But I ate it with the crab cake and it was good. - Mac and cheese wasn't overly seasoned either but sufficient. Some might say it needs something, maybe salt, but I was ok. Pretty good cheese pull. - Crab cake was also pretty hot, and yummy. I did try it with the sauce, but it tasted mayonnaise based and I don't usually add sauces. I prefer the food to be seasoned on its own, so I just ate it with the shrimp. - There were a few people at the bar when I arrived and two people in the dining area who left by the time I sat down. You can see from others' pictures how small the inside is, so I found it odd that the server sat a couple that arrived about 15 minutes later right next to me (booth and chair seating). I get having sections, but that seemed a little close to me. The next couple that arrived was sat a couple of tables away, similar booth/chair seating. - Soft R&B from an artist I wasn't familiar with was playing. Then some reggae. It was loud but not obnoxiously so. I enjoyed the vibe. - I chuckled when about 3/4 through my meal then busboy brought a to go container. I shook my head that I didn't need it. This girl can eat! LOL. - Docked one star because the menu said to add shrimp to the Stacker was $4, but the check said $6. I'm not crying over $2 but it's more about accuracy. Also, they add an 18% service fee. First time here. Came during happy hour. Was seated very quickly. So, here is where it all goes wrong. Everyone is sitting at the bar. We were place next to the only people in the table sitting area. The other couple was finishing their experience and left after paying the bill. We, are now the ONLY people sitting in the table area. This place is small. I had enough time, to read the menu twice, read the reviews on this place, and realize I made a mistake. 25 minutes go by, and no one came. Ive heat so many great reviews about here but the food wasn't hitting the way I hoped. My macaroni was very mushy there wasn't much of a cheese flavor it just tasted like roux and was very bland. The crab cake was good at forst but once i got about half way in it got really wet and mushy inside. And my mashed potatoes were a bit salty. My husband loved his steak it wqs cooked to his liking and the French friends and greens were good. Im hoping maybe it wqs just an off day. The servers were very kind and friendly. We came here at Saturday around 12:30 and had no problems getting a reservation or a seat. While parking was somewhat full in the little shopping area, we got a parking spot around the corner. Some seating outside, bar seating both in and outdoors and some seating indoors. Good music and not overly loud. The food here was very good, I would definitely recommend. Everyone was also so friendly. I ordered a guava mimosa and South Beach Sunset for our drinks. Both were delicious. For an appetizer, we ordered the Stuffed oysters and then for our meals, we ordered the Thai Lobster & Shrimp and the Grilled Lamb Chops with the additional ons - the crab & Shrimp and Cajun crab sauce. The Stuffed oysters were so good, and full of flavor. We absolutely loved the Thai Lobster and Shrimp, the Lamb Chops were cooked so well. Great portion sizes. Only wish that the potatoes were just a little crispier and the lobster was just a tad overcooked. We were visiting from California and we were looking for a place for dinner before turning in for the night at our hotel. We came across Crab Cab on Yelp and decided to drive 5 miles down the road. Upon entry we could hear the sounds of 90's R&B music and we were greeted by a young girl who sat us at a table across from the bar. The place had maybe 5 people in the restaurant 2 sitting at the bar, a couple at a table and a woman sitting alone in a corner table. Looking over the menu I ordered the crab bisque for an appetizer and my boyfriend ordered the jerk wings. For the entree I ordered stuffed shrimp, I wanted the crispy sweet brussel sprouts however they were out of them so I got the broccolini and Mac and cheese. Everything was good! I didn't get a picture of my boyfriend's food but he enjoyed his too! I would recommend this place. The partial owner was very nice and came over to our table and spoke to us. I ordered the grilled salmon with 2 sides; mac & cheese and sautéed spinach. What a disappointment when I got home to find this sliver of salmon (nothing compared to the pictures posted) that was cold! The spinach...cold! And, although the mac & cheese was tasty, it was greasy! To top it off, I was charged $2 extra for the cholesterol! Now, $2 isn't much, and if I was told there would be an upcharge (not listed on the menu), that would've been much appreciated! The ONLY saving grace was the seafood egg rolls! I came here for happy hour with some friends and let me tell you! This place is so good. It almost looks like it was recently redone on the inside. The vibe was great and the playlist was better Terry behind the bar really took care of us. I had a blueberry lemon drop then peach. My friend had two blueberry smashes The food is absolutely delicious. My friends both ordered the crab cake sliders, one ordered the fried catfish and the other ordered the fried shrimp basket. They rated everything 10/10. I had the crab and shrimp spinach artichoke dip and I must say it was 100/10. It was so good my friends ordered their own. I should be gate keeping this spot because it is small and I always want to be able to get a seat since I don't live local. BUT, I'm sharing!!!!!for the location you may not thing this place is going to pop but it did. It was a little hard to find hiding on the side of the building, but I forgot about all that once my grilled oysters hit the table. I wanted to camel the rest of my food and order more of the seafood and half Shell oysters. They were 10 out of 10! But then the main courses came and i am glad I didn't forgo on the actual food. The Stackanator and the Grilled Lamb Chops.....I don't know what they marinated the lamb chops in, but they were some of the best I have had and the crab cake was nothing but crab meat no filler at all. A few nights ago my wife had a craving for charbroiled oysters, so I did a search and read about Crab Cab. We went there on August 8 and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and made some wonderful recommendations. In addition to really enjoying the oysters, we had the best hush puppies we've ever had, a great crab and shrimp spinach dip, and "The Stackernator" -- a crab cake sandwich, a shrimp salad, and something we'd never had before: crab and salmon fries. Everything was great. The cocktails were great, too. It was a little hard to find the restaurant, but now that we know where it is, we will certainly go back. read more

This was my second time dining at Crab Cab, and it was another great experience. On this visit, I ordered the colossal stuffed shrimp with mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts as my choice of sides along with a cosmopolitan. The food was very good across the board. The stuffed shrimp was flavorful and well prepared, the mac and cheese was nicely seasoned, and the Brussels sprouts were roasted well with a great texture. My cosmopolitan was also made well and came out quickly, which I appreciated. The service was another standout. I sat at a table and was taken care of by Teri, who was attentive, sweet, and had such a great attitude throughout the meal. Had brunch earlier this year and the food was pretty good but maybe I expected more based off other reviewers. Started with the Guava Sunrise drink and it was just ok, more syrup than anything. I just didn't really get that tequila was added. For my appetizer, I went with the Seafood oysters, which were supposed to be chargrilled with shrimp and crab except they weren't really what I would expect of a chargrilled oyster so I was a little disappointed. For my main course, I did the fried catfish topped with shrimp, scrambled eggs and potatoes. I enjoyed my catfish as it was cooked perfectly. I could've done without the topping but definitely made a good choice for my main dish. Service was good, but I will note this location is small so you may experience a slight wait for a table. Great customer service from the moment we walked in! The owner personally welcomed us and was very attentive. Solid HH with a good selection to choose from. Drinks had the perfect balance of alcohol without it overpowering the drinks. Had the lemon drop and blue berry smash 10/10. The crab cake sliders were everything the owner said they were. The crab fries and the dip were delicious. Tried 2 different oysters which I thought would have been my favorite but surprisingly that was not the case. It is situated at a small joint near Krispy Kreme and unfortunately on national donut day so the parking lot is a mess. the food is ok: Po'Boy is good, but fried catfish is over fried with bread crumbs. It's hard to find good catfish in the DMV area, I'm from Oklahoma. This place is a hidden gem for sure. My mom and I stopped pass here about week ago & we were glad we did. Our server was Dee and she was more than amazing. She even gave us to go drinks that were specially made by her. We ordered the crab cake sandwich and shrimp po'boy that came with seasoned fries. 100/10 food, service, great music, beautiful bar and overall atmosphere. The only things that would make this even better is if they had a bigger spot because as good as it is, they will be packed soon, more visible to the street so people can see them & to either price the fountain drinks cheaper or allow more than one refill. My first time eating here was a very good experience. The food was delicious and service was great. However, I went today for the same meal as before but this time it was take out. I don't know if restaurants don't care when people order take out but I've been finding that the quality of meals are different...less than. I was excited to share my experience with others, so I ordered meals for 3 of us...all some version of the Island Pasta. ALL of them were extremely dry and mine was over cooked; peppers and onions burned. When I dined in, there was a very tasty sauce. This time however, there was none. Saturday was the first time I have visited this restaurant. The ambiance was very quaint and intimate. The building was a lot smaller than I imagined however, it was decorated nicely. The service was very good in the beginning. The waitress towards the end seemed to be very forgetful. Possibly because the restaurant had an influx of customers. The food was good. The appetizer we chose was the spinach dip with shrimp and crab meat with chips. The dip could have used a little more seasoning not overall it was good. Next I ordered the grilled lamb chops Oscar style (crab meat and shrimp on top). The portion of the lamb chops was a little small. However, the lamb chops were cooked perfectly. The Oscar dressing was heavily salted which I did not enjoy. The macaroni and cheese were delicious. It was very flavorful along with the broccolini. My friend ordered the ribeye with asparagus and mashed potatoes. She enjoyed the ribeye but mentioned that she thought the Oscar was salty as well. Overall, we had a good experience. My friend and I came here on a Monday (8/26/2024), after work at about 7pm. When we got there, there was one other occupied table, otherwise the restaurant was empty. The server greeted us immediately, provided menus and asked if we wanted something to drink, both of us opted for water, he asked us if we wanted bottled water, however we opted for regular still water. After perusing the menu and chatting for a bit, we put in an order for the crab and shrimp spinach dip. When I tell you this came out so freakin' fast, like I took two breaths, maybe three and our dip was dropped off. First off, the menu says it comes with toasted butter bread, ours came with tortilla chips. I was so excited for this dip as it looked so freaking bomb, but unfortunately the dip was mediocre at best. It was not hot at all and the flavors just were not hitting. It did however have plenty of crab, but this is not a dish I recommend. We had told our server what we were thinking about ordering when we put in our appetizer and I told him I was thinking about getting the crab cake sandwich, he strongly recommended I get the more expensive version of the sandwich. Cool, I get upselling as I used to be a server. However, when we ordered I got what I originally wanted and he told me I really should get the other version. I didn't love the extra push/pressure, but needless to say, I ordered the regular crab cake sandwich. Our entrees came out comically fast, similar to the appetizer, and again everything was warm, not hot. My crab cake sandwich was pretty good, however, I did have to pick out a couple of shells. The salad was overdressed, but besides that it was really good. My friend got a quesadilla and she said it was good. Do you know how difficult it is to find oysters that are charged and flavored??? Initially looking for a snack, we came here and I was surprised to see it on the menu so we got the chargrilled oysters and the egg rolls. The egg rolls were okay; I am not a fan of anything mayo/aioli so the sauce that came with them didn't do it for me. The oysters were good but then not great. The initial taste was fantastic, but there was a strong aftertaste that was not good. After adding the hot sauce, that cut the aftertaste which made them much more enjoyable...but that aftertaste shouldn't be there. Ok. Landed here on a Friday night as it was easiest to get reservations for and this was the area that we wanted to dine. First, customer service was great. Greeted and seated promptly. Received menus and our drink and appetizer orders were taken. We got the seafood spring rolls (they are not egg rolls as the menu says) and the crab and shrimp spinach dip. I also got a cocktail which was suggested by our server. She said it was one of the two strongest drinks on the menu, as I asked what were their strongest drinks. While I found it to be very good it wasn't that strong...but I digress. The spring rolls were a pass, but the spinach dip is a definite must try. It was the single most deliciously executed dish from our entire meal. For our mains we got the Thai Lobster noodles (me) and crab stuffed salmon (hubby). My dish threw me off. I did my research on this place and from all accounts my noodles were not anything like the dish that is pictured in any photo nor video that I have seen online..especially not like those served to influencers who have reviewed this place and this meal. I don't know if they thought it wasn't noticeable or what but I felt bamboozled. First the dish was completely dark, like the noodles and other components of the meal were drenched in a soy based sauce. The lobster was cooked in the same sauce and just from a visual standpoint it was hard to pick out; mushrooms as well. To add, the shrimp in that dish was placed on top of the pasta, lobster, noodles, mushrooms, concoction not mixed in. So it was pale in comparison to the meal. It just was not what I was expecting. Maybe the meal changed from its initial rollout. Im a new patron so I can't say for sure, but it certainly wasn't the vibrant colorful dish that was full of beans sprouts, onions, huge lobster pieces and fresh thai basil that I seen previously..that meal I saw online was not drenched in any kind of sauce and it was the same exact meal. It appears as if they ran out of the ingredients to make the dish as normal and therefore came up with something on the fly. That's how I feel after receiving the dish as I got it versus what I thought it was going to be and saw it to be online. To add, a young lady, I believe she worked there (she could even be the manager or the owner, she seemed pretty involved in the place) came to my table after I received my meal and picked up the sauce container on my plate that had Thai chili sauce in it and told me to try the dish with the sauce. Now mind you, although I was thrown off by the abrupt way she made the suggestion by touching my food, I took her suggestion, but let's be clear, that sauce was no more than a Thai chili sauce that you can find in any Chinese takeout or bottled and sold in local Asian markets, even chain grocery stores-to me. It did cut through some of the sodium in the sauce however. Even with all of that said it was not a bad dish; as far as flavor it was ok. It's just not what I was expecting as it was not comprised of Thai based flavors, but definitely more Asian based flavors like something you would find in a Chinese takeout not in a Thai restaurant. Those flavor profiles are very distinct on their own..this dish just did not give Thai. Now for the salmon dish that my husband had. Overall, he was very satisfied with his meal, but he felt as if the portion size of salmon could have been a little bigger. I tasted it, and the salmon was cooked perfectly, but the crab on top tasted a bit weird. I was wondering if some of the dressed spring lettuce that came (I guess more so as a garnish) on the dish happen to spill into the crab meat because it tasted as if it was mixed with something. Overall, the vibe of the restaurant was chill. There was a great selection of music playing and again the staff was very friendly, kind and efficient. There was also plenty of parking so no issue there. Please note that the restaurant is very small..and seating is extremely limited. Also to note we were charged an 18% service charge. My friends and I came here for lunch before heading to Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour and we left very impressed. The 'Dominator' combo was A1. The shrimp salad, crab fries, and crabcake sandwich were fye! Do be aware that they serve a different connotation of shrimp salad than you might be expecting. The shrimp salad they serve here isn't cold shrimp with mayonnaise and celery (etc.), but rather fried shrimp on top of lettuce. Regardless, as I said, their food is fye. Especially when washed down one of their delicious guava Arnold Palmers. Baby the food was so good I had to order a second entrée to take home (Their Shrimp Po Boy). I was really impressed with their service. They go above and beyond here. I have a friend with a fish allergy so they couldn't have anything that was fried in the same grease as fish, and the chef personally came out to talk to my friend and custom-made his 'Dominator' with a broiled crabcake and loaded crabby mashed potatoes to make sure there was no cross-contamination of fish. The place failed to meet my expectations. Being in an area that's big on seafood with lots of seafood options, I expected more. We started with the crab, shrimp, and spinach dip. It came with homemade tortilla chips and it was delicious. Very cheesy, didn't see a lot of spinach, I did see the seafood and the flavor was great. I wish it were served with baguettes or pita chips but nonetheless it was still good. Our entrees came out super fast and COLD! Crab cakes don't take long to cook at all but I believe they cook them ahead of time and just let them sit, not under a warmer, until someone orders them. I sent my plate back because it was cold and they just put the crab cakes in a pan to heat them instead of making fresh ones. We got the crab cake entree with mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese, hush puppies, and broccolini. The crab cakes were the absolute WORST I have ever tasted. They were extremely small and SALTY. Tons of Old Bay and some other indistinguishable flavor. We didn't even finish them! The mashed potatoes were greasy, bland, this weird brown color, and had to be exchanged for another side. Just absolutely awful. The broccolini was nothing special but the only thing edible on the plate besides the hushpuppies. They were drizzled in honey and actually tasted very good. The service was good despite the awful food experience. My bill alone was over $80 with just the entree, appetizer, and tip. No drink bc I got water with lemons.
