Sunday 2/15 I went to purcase a used Wii under the suggestion of my grandson . Not being able to purchase myself being on a fixed income from disabilty he gave me 200 dollars to buy a console and a few games . With help I purchased a Wii, 5 games ,a chip to play camecube games and a controller . The next afternoon I went Bestbuy to purchase an rca to hdmi adapter after getting i home i set everything up . Console wont read disc ( try a couple time , even checked google) it keeps not working . I call the Cavern and they say to bring it in . HERES WHERE IT GETS GOOD ... When I brought in the console they tell me THE SERIAL NUMBER DOESNT MATCH THE RECEIPT. Its the same unit THE SAME ONE and they say there is nothing they can or will do . So Im/we're out 150 dollars and there is nothing I can do about it . Heres the scam - the units have the company serial number on the console and the console , controller, cords are all shirink wrapped together . The Caverns label only has a price and bar code with no other info for the customer to verify . So when they print the receipt thats it ALL SALES FINAL they dont verify the serial number against anything themselves . Yes the next day they point out the serial number on the console doesnt match the printed serial number on the receipt . I didnt know I had to check the receipt against the actual console he just scanned infront of me . SCAMMED I thank my grandson for trying to give me a liitle joy , at least his heart is in the right place. I had download YELP just for the post ... Yes it is the first review ive made . I bought a used PS4 and it was guaranteed to work on their showroom floor. I took it home and it wouldn't even boot up or play any of my disc games. I took it back to the store and they said there was no problems with it and they won't exchange it so I'm stuck with a $140 doorstop. Buyer beware, they don't have a return policy so if you get something from them and it doesn't work, you're stuck with it. No better than a crooked car lot knowingly selling lemons. read more

It's alright if your local, we came from FL and was excited to see they're game selection, but we ended up disappointed. Not a good selection at all (for all systems), because of this I asked to see they're games that haven't been processed yet, and because I wasn't looking for a "specific game" they said they weren't going to let me do that. Every single game store I've been in they ALWAYS let me look at the games that haven't been processed... I even let these guys know we drove all the way from Florida and still they didn't seem to care much. They could've made a possible good sale today but they chose poorly. Lol. I won't be back. Honestly wouldn't go back. I drove a hour just to check this place out and the workers were pretty un-personable and the selection kinda sucked. And they wouldn't let us see there unprocessed games because there was to much?? I've gone to several different stores and this has never happened, just seemed like a lame excuse. I grew up in the late 70's and early 80's so to see all the "retro" gaming devices and games for sale and in better than good working order really brings me back to my childhood. I have done Business with these people for about 10 years now. Wow has it been that long! Well anyway if you take in decent stuff to sale or trade in and keep in mind they have a business to run as well you will most likely have a good day if not and you want to try and get over on people and be dishonest then yeah your day is not going to be so well. This place is what I call a "good" retro game store. They sell old consoles and old games at fair prices, and have a good selection. They aren't just another pop-up shop that has a few expensive titles to pull people in, and makes money from selling cheap knockoff consoles and reproduction carts. They know their stuff. read more

I've been a customer at the Video Game Cavern for 4 years. It is my favorite first-hand video game store in the area. They offer a good selection of video games (old and new), affordable prices on even the most demanding items, good staff and great trade-in value. Also, when you trade a loose game disc in, they sell them in the case & print out the original artwork that way they keep their selection organized. The only other store that's as good as the Cavern is Save Point in Charlotte (if not better); though I haven't been there in a few years, I've contacted them through Facebook Messenger. This place, is AMAZING! I have been going here for years, ever since I was like 8. I go in ever now and then, not very frequently. Every time I'm looking for something specific. But, if I can't find it because it's an obscure game or a really old one, I always end up finding something worth while!! Well, I have been looking for this one game for about four to five years. I had gotten it from game stop and it didn't work! So! I still think about it often. I was looking at DS games with my boyfriend and I was in the middle of saying wouldn't it be cool if... and there it was!!! So amazing!! For only like 7 bucks too!! I played for like four hours last night so that isn't healthy but still!! This place is a gold mine! The prices are unbeatable!! When I get rid of my games, if I ever do, I will make sure to bring them to Game Cavern because they'll be sold fairly!! I also know they offer an amazing!!!! Cool place for used video games and old video game systems. They have tons of old games in a retro section. Prices are very reasonable. They had a game cube and lots of Atari games for sale toward the back of the store. Newer video games and Wii games up front. Staff seemed helpful and knowledgable. read more

Went into the cavern twice while visiting family in SC. First visit wasnt so great. Brought my little cousins in to show them old games and help me pick some stuff out. Wasnt really helped or greeted by the guy working there, didnt seem like a "fun" environment like many other retro shops I have been to. I went back again to pick up some other titles and there was a woman and younger guy that were much more helpful. The first impression wasnt the greatest but they had good prices and a nice selection of games so I will go again. read more

I've been shopping at Game Cavern since it opened, probably close to ten years ago, and I've always been a fan. Good selection, great prices, lots of old school stuff as well as new. The staff is so-so, sometimes they're friendly and helpful, sometimes not so much. Overall, it's a good store, and I'd rather spend my money at a local business than with a corporation. read more

These guys are incredible, if your looking for a place to take in those old video games you can't play this place in unbeatable, they have a great selection and give you the most for what you have in your house collecting dust, prices are fair and so are the trade ins! They have everything from vintage gaming to brand new titles , I just went in taking about 15 of my old games that i no longer play, a guide I had no use for, some Nintendo 64 accesories and got 102 dollars in instore credit! Try getting that from gamestop and you will be laughed out the store! One of my favorite stores so far, friendly customer service, great game selection, and even carry some of the older systems, going in again in a few days to pick up some more titles! Would suggest this place to anyone in the state!
