It's not here! We were really looking forward to having a restaurant right by where we're staying but it's closed down. Bummer.

The food. MEH. I love carpaccio but this was underwhelming and didn't have enough acidity to balance the plate. I ordered the lobster pasta. Wow -what a disappointment. The lobster was over cooked and chewy. The sauce (bisque) was flavorless and needed salt and a bit of heavy cream badly. The pasta was way past al dente. Had to ask for bread- was told "had to see if they had enough for a side of bread." Ran out of risotto for a 730 pm reservation. Offered two specials but I had to ask the price. (Pet peeve--tell me the special price). And then the server wasn't sure and had to go ask. Go only for the location and view --not the food. The mocktails were both delicious. Points for having a mocktail list!

It took 15 minutes to get water, the staff seemed disorganized despite only three tables, and we were repeatedly rushed to order because the kitchen was "closing." The food did not justify the high prices. A $60-$70 filet mignon was completely unseasoned and bland, with minimal sides. While the mussel appetizer tasted good, the broth was full of broken shells, making it unpleasant and unsafe to eat. Drink service was also poor: a second glass of wine was served in a small cup and spilled during a refill without any acknowledgment. Portions were inconsistent, and the overall experience felt careless. One dish, the grilled mahi mahi, was well seasoned and tasted good, but at $40 it felt overpriced for a common fish and came with overcooked, unappealing sides. Overall, the meal was not worth the cost.

Con's: Housekeeping came banging on the door at 20 til asking when I was leaving instead of just waiting until after the scheduled checkout time. Housekeeper also let herself in while I was showering and asked if I needed cleaning that day (chain was on the door and it was "locked") Stains in toilets, and all over vanity chair Checked in online the day before alerting business id arrive at 2pm. Room was not ready until after 4:30pm (check in time is 4) Staff provide verbal directions and let you on your way. No one shows you anything or walks with you. Everything is extremely overpriced. DO NOT EAT HERE! Min 30 mins drive from everything (MUST RENT A CAR) Room 75 is excessively noisy. It's where the house keepers yap about their day, the golf carts park and it's just outside the parking lot and parallel to the pool so you hear noise all day/ night it's impossible to relax.

The property is tucked away in the hills, surrounded by breathtaking scenery that feels peaceful and untouched. Its secluded location made the beaches feel private--soft sand, clear blue water, and the constant sound of waves crashing. The soothing ocean sounds made nights especially relaxing, while the calm water during the day was perfect for splashing, swimming, and enjoying family time. The resort atmosphere was quiet and clean, making it easy to unwind. Drinks were always perfectly frozen, which was a nice treat in the warm island weather. There's a lounge available throughout the day, as well as a restaurant for dinner, and the lounge also serves casual food if you're in the mood for something lighter. The pizza from the lounge was especially good. Dining at the restaurant offered a nice variety of steak and seafood options. Breakfast was a highlight, with a full buffet available each morning along with made-to-order omelets. Be sure to look closely around the omelet station--there's a little hidden surprise where you can often find French toast or pancakes. We missed it the first couple of days but were glad once we discovered it. For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, a roughly 45-minute hike over the hill is well worth the effort. The trail leads to stunning tidal pools and opens up to a striking black stone beach. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks and the stones rustling underfoot creates an unforgettable, almost magical experience. Overall, Carambola offered a serene, scenic escape that made our Christmas in the Caribbean truly special.
