This place was recommended by a couple of locals. It did not disappoint. We ordered the pretzels. The smoked cheese was so good. I ordered the blackened fish tacos. The fish was perfectly seasoned and so good. I did not like the toasted tortilla and it had way too much slaw on them. Thus 4 stars instead of 5. My wife had the fish and chips and it was perfect. We ordered some ice cream. Again really good but super rich so we couldn't eat it all. . Service was good and there was live music. read more

Our sunset sail captain recommended Flyers. It was not great. Wine had sediment and the manager said that's what happens when you get the last glass from a bottle. Hmm. Pasta dish was covered in bagged shredded cheese. Fish tacos so so. We were hoping for a nice meal and unfortunately disappointed. They did comp the pasta and wine though. read more

Honestly--Very disappointing. The food was sub par for STX standards and they force you to tip if you use two cards to pay the check. We always tip and would have but it is a scam to force it in this day and age. We won't be going back and that's sad because we used to love it. read more

The service is great, the drinks are well made, strong, and big. The food has always been great and never a disappointment. If you're a steak lover they have a fantastic ribeye that is often on the menu and a great NY steak that's often a special. It's nice inside and outside you're right across the street from the ocean. read more

A very popular place. We alway sat outside so have no idea what it is like inside. They have a good menu and specials that have always been good. The hard part is finding out when they are open. Their Facebook page is usually updated, but if you don't have a Facebook account, it can be a PITA. They DO NOT open at 11AM. Nothing happens there until 6PM. Looking for an eatery offering delicious food, overlooking the serenity and beauty of a park and waterfront? Flyers may fit the bill!! The restaurant is found on Strand, midst the row of historic structures lining the Street. We happened upon the restaurant while strolling the street. As is our preference, we were seated outdoors, umbrella protecting our table. We were greeted by Tina, friendly and of good cheer, who immediately filled our order of Rodney Strong chardonnay and Carnivore cabernet sauvignon. We moved directly to entree, my lady Marjan selecting the yellow fin tuna. The fish was perfectly prepared, more to the rare side, tender and moist. The seasoning was spot on, the sides of rice and vegetable perfect. I chose the NY strip, medium rare. Again, the finish was perfect: satisfying sear, moist and tender center. Sides were vegetable and mashed potato. As I sipped my digestif, Makers Mark Old Fashioned, we witnessed the arrival of a Quelbe band and quadrille dancers on Strand, the Cruzans in celebration of their Emancipation holiday! What a perfect finish to our dining experience! We had dined at a very highly recommended, reservation required, type of restaurant the night before. Honestly, we found the entrees at Flyers better by several measure. Would we recommend Flyers? If one is looking for casual dining, offering delicious foodstuffs, then definitely. Enjoy! Short wait for a table at a busy dinner time. Friendly and efficient service. Great food. Egg rolls, Greek salad and snapper special were all delicious. Snapper was amazing with layers of flavors. Hibiscus non-alcohol drink was great, too. Large portions make prices reasonable. read more

We had a perfectly fine dinner here on our first night in St. Croix. We stayed at Cottages so it was a short drive with easy street parking. The staff were all extremely friendly and attentive, and we appreciated the cheery atmosphere. Got our drinks first - bushwhacker (super sweet of Hershey's syrup!) and lime in the coconut, both hit the spot. We shared the salmon croquettes, a salad, and fish and chips. Everything was flavorful and mostly done well. The fish and chips was the biggest disappointment. Fries were cooked fine but covered in a mystery orange seasoning mix of ambiguous artificial flavor. Plain fries would have been strongly preferred, just with salt and pepper. The fish was fine but tasted like the oil it was cooked in was very old - there was a strong bitterness to the breading that detracted from the fish itself. I read in another review that this was the best fish and chips someone had in their life, and I now feel sorry for that person. This was fine, but not great. We didn't feel a need to return to Flyers on this trip, but if we were back in the future we would consider popping in again for a solid B+ meal in a friendly place. read more

We ate here on our last night. We had a 35-40'min wait but it was well worth it!!! We both had a plate from the specials of the day. Husband had the prime rib, pumpkin mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. He said it's one of the best prime rib dinners he has ever had (and that's coming from a steak lover!) We weren't sure about Pumpkin Mash but delicious & a perfect pairing for his prime rib. I had the Wahoo with a teriyaki glaze, topped with a fruit salsa/medley over rice with vegetable medley on side. Dessert: husband had Apple cinnamon bread pudding with a caramel sauce and whipped cream. I enjoyed a bowl of homemade Chocolate Nutter Butter Ice Cream. We drank water. Our Bill was $100 but Definitely worth it! It's top on our list for when we come back! read more

Amazing food options, everything we had was delicious. Ribeye steak, Snapper, Pasta Shells, Ribs. Recommended all of them. Along with Mac n Cheese app, do not skip the specials served. Homemade ice cream was also tasty if you have room for more. Ginger and Taylor did us right. Don't skip Flyers and it's better than any Grill food. This place is inside the Salt River Marina and right next to the kayak tours. We stopped in before our tour thinking it would be a good spot to eat. Food was very good. Family got the fish tacos, pretzel n cheese, Conch fritters and creamy tomato soup. All good, but because they didn't open until 6pm and tour requests you be checked in at 6:45, we were told not to get anything outside of apps or salads cause it would take too long.. Ice cream on the menu would have been awesome after tour, but the only thing open was bar at 9pm when you return. So I think this could be a 5 star if they coordinated timing of food service better with tours. Maybe open at 5:30 or allow customers to have dessert until 10pm. Servers were very nice as well! read more

A sad day in the St Croix North Shore neighborhood as of Friday September 28th Flyers has closed at the Salt River location. The good news is that Scott and his staff are moving the the Old Blue Moon restaurant location along the Frederiksted waterfront just south of the pier. Current opening date is beginning of December 2022. read more

We have been several times but this was probably our last. The food is just ok, and goes down when they are busy. The last visit I ordered the Caesar salad with a piece of Mahi for $18. The waiter suggested to make it the fresh Mahi since they had some. Said it would be "a little more". When we got the bill it was $36! Twice as much! Diner beware! read more

Why in the world would you ever have specialty drinks and treat them as a pour over. Idk this place just sucks! The food was good. Service and hospitality could use some improvement. Every other restaurant has kindly offered multiple refills on iced tea, even providing to-go cups. Tonight, we asked our waitress for refills, and she said they "typically do not" provide refills (which tells me she could have done so). We asked for tap water and their tap water is not drinkable. So, we sat through all of our meal without a drink (our choice but based on principle). Seems like the courteous thing to do would be to offer one refill on the iced tea. We paid $3 and that probably cost them 5 cents. Plus, think about your attitude when we are tipping you. I typically tip 22% but gave her 15%. read more

Probably some of the better food I've had while on the island. Mainly the homemade ice cream! It was so delicious and you could tell it was homemade. I tried the mango ice cream and it was so creamy and delicious. It also had flakes of coconut in it-yum. Highly recommend. We also split the ribs, which I would recommend splitting because it's a very large portion. It came with fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was okay. The fries were average. We had asked for garlic fries and he said the meal came with garlic fries but they did not. And if those were supposed to be garlic fries they tasted nothing like garlic so zero stars. The ribs were a little fatty but definitely better than some of the other food I had during my stay. They did have a big selection of entrees and I would have loved to try some of the other food options. read more

We arrived on island on a Thursday afternoon and as part of our normal routine we went straight from the airport to the STX Market grocery store to stock up before heading to the condo in Gentle Winds..just around the corner from the marina and Flyers. Since we had just traveled all the way from California we were beat and in no mood to cook so we headed over to Flyers. Wait was not bad but the food would have been worth a much longer wait. I got the Greek salad with a grilled mahi-mahi adder....It was awesome as was the World Famous ice cream.... we had mint chocolate chip. Amazing. So, a couple days later we had dinner at Ama which in my opinion wasn't as good as Flyers. On the way back to the condo we decided to go get some of that amazing ice cream and take it the half mile back to the condo.....we pulled up and asked to order some to go.....this is where it gets weird. The woman said we can't sell it to go..... 'He'.....whoever the hell 'he' is .....won't sell to go because it's homemade.....HUH? We didn't want to tie up a table for a bowl of ice cream...so guess what we did? We left...BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T SELL US ICE CREAM TO GO.....around the damn corner.....I'm perplexed. Businesses have been hurting and these darn fools refused to sell us ice cream. That weirdness aside....the food was amazing. read more

Overall, the place has a great atmosphere and food. The staff is really friendly and works hard to keep up up with the large groups. However, the place is under staffed and and food takes 2+ hours for a simple table of of five. So, not a restaurant for kids. This has been our experience twice. The restaurant is located near salt river marina which is a great place for a long day on the water. read more

We didn't get to try the homemade ice cream but everyone on the island raves about their ice cream but the bread pudding was amazing. Only a 15 minute drive from the Marriott. Ambiance was great. Good people running around to feed and drink you. For a bar and grill, the chef does an amazing job with yummy food! Some of the plates were definitely high end. But, you can also get fish and chips! Save room for ice cream. It's a must! Be prepared to wait in line to get in! This place is a diamond in the rough.... especially if you're staying at the crappy Marriott up the street. read more

We stay in Gently Winds near Salt River for an extended stay in Jan./Feb. Our go too was always Flyers just around the corner from GW. We were so sad to see an empty building when we drove by Salt River on day one, but happy to see Flyers was reopened in Frederiksted. We ate dinner at Flyers at least 5 times during our stay this year. My husband had Steak Ragu every time and it was the best steak he had on the island. I usually had a seafood special that was always very good. We love the Greek Salad and split it at every meal at Flyers. We would highly recommend Flyers and the beautiful Sunset view from the front patio. Flyers was the best, most consistent restaurant we ate at this trip (2023) and in years past. We went here one night on the recommendation of a local. We were a party of 6 and got there shortly after they opened, so we had a 10 min wait. All of our food was delicious and beautifully presented! We got app specials- duck eggrolls & Italian eggrolls; our dinners ranged from the NY strip special to a salmon salad to seafood pasta- all outstanding. We also got the banana, chocolate brownie ice cream, which was also outstanding & enough to share. The service was good & of average speed. One of our group forgot her purse on her chair. We called & they had the purse but since they close at 9/10-ish, we had to go back the next evening (they're only open for dinner). The purse was there, everything was in it & we decided to stay for dinner again! Some of us even had the same dinner as the night before, it was so good. Highly recommend! read more

This place is ghetto-fabulous, at best. The restaurant is adjacent to a dingy marina. Above the restaurant is like two or three run-down apartments. You have to walk past the apartments to get to the restaurant's bathroom, which is in similar disrepair. Anyway, my point is that this is not your typical locale, even for St Croix standards. The food wasn't bad, but nothing I'm going to remember and go back for. Overall, not bad in that we didn't get food poisoning, but not excellent as far as view, vibe or experience. read more

Great, well lit and comfortable seating in the dining area at regular height tables or in the bar area at bar height tables overlooking the marina. Service was attentive from the minute we approached the restaurant through our entire meal. Drink selections were creative and contemporary. The coconut sangria was flavorful and light and a refreshing shift from the sweet rum drinks that are typical in the Caribbean. Menu options are as creative and modern twists to traditional and local delights. The short rib pot pie looked amazing with a perfectly browned crust and juicy tender short ribs inside (I was totally stalking the table next to ours). The ribs were fall off the bone tender with a perfectly seasoned tangy and sweet bbq's sauce. Paired with fries and a pineapple coleslaw. The herb encrusted tuna fresh catch was as delightful to the eye as it was to the palette. 2 large tuna steaks cooked to order filled half of the plate with perfectly sticky rice filling the other side. The wasabi glaze was perfectly flavored and was exactly what the big flakey tuna needed. The lamb chops had perfect pink centers and were seasoned perfectly. read more
