So, I guess instead of being a "restaurant", this is more of an event space. Came here with 40ish other folks we were traveling through the area with. I ordered their lobster and it was GREAT! No specialty cocktails to speak of, but they had a moderately well stocked bar. Service was good, though it took longer to get our meals than I was expecting. They do what they do well.

I came in 4 times this Fall with our foliage bus tour group and each time our group enjoyed the experience. From the DJing of Layton, to the tremendous service by their attentive staff, this Maine experience was a real treat for our tour guests. Nothing says Maine more than a lobster dinner! We hope to return next year for another season of great meals and entertainment! Special thanks to the crew last night for our final group of the season: Layton, Lisa, Jenna, Max, Hayden, Sam and Katie!

A close up of the delectable Browned Butter n' Chive Lobster Roll--,yumadelic!

So....who had the BEST lobster roll in the world today? Oh yeah, that's right--me!! My son and I decided to try and find a place on our way back to upstate New York after staying near Portland Maine and we stumbled on Fosters after trying to deal with all the mayhem close to the shore. What to love: cleaning protocols during covid 19. The fact that every staff member was wearing a mask. Outdoor dining tables set up with umbrellas over them to prevent the hot sun from being too intense. And I bet now you're wondering hey but what about the lobster roll? First let me say that I've never considered myself a lobster roll expert. But lately it's been the itch that I'm scratching. We determined that we were going to try and find the most delicious lobster roll on our way out of Maine, and we did find it. After humming down a cold and tasteless lobster roll in the heart of Portland the other night, we stopped at Fosters hoping for more. We perked up as soon as we saw the options--a traditional Mayo based lobster roll OR a brown butter and chive lobster roll. First of all, a rhetorical question: is there such a thing as too much butter? My answer would be most of the time, no. And as regards the browned butter lobster roll at Foster's, it was stupendous! The roll itself was lovely, warm, and toasted perfectly. It had a slight sweetness to it and had an excellent texture--not too dry, not too doughy. But the lobstah--woo hoo! Dripping with the nuttiness of browned butter, spiked with snippets of green chives, and a pile of cooked-just-right lobster meat, including one whole shelled claw sitting on top. I usually try to leave some of my meal behind just so I don't overeat, but this time I ate the whole thing! I will say that I left the homemade potato chips behind. A little too thick, and a little too much oil, but who cares with a lobster roll that officially ended our vacation with a five-star review? There was also a lovely fresh kale and broccoli slaw that came with the meal. it was light and crunchy, a little bit sweet and tangy and just right to go along with the meal and cut the richness. I think we managed to hit the timing of our meal just right because we did not have to wait for a table or for our meal, but once business picks up after the covid-19 crisis eases, watch out! I can't imagine it's normally easy to get a table at this place. But even if you had to wait, it would be worth it! Say it after me: browned butter and chive lobster roll. Doesn't get any better than that.

Chowder had no Clams, lobster was overcooked. Not very many clams, not a memorable "Clambake".

Great venue, good food. Long upholding the important tradition of a Maine Lobetser/Clambake.

I went in the building and ran into a waitress. I asked her and she told me go see the hostess at the tent. So I go back over the tent wait a couple minutes and then finally one of the waiters asked me if I'm being helped. I tell him that I have reservations at 7:30 and he tells me that I need to see the hostess. I said who's that? So finally I figure out that the hostess is this little old lady that has been cleaning these chairs and tables the whole time. So I wait for her to get done. The waiter that talked to me before goes talks to her and points over at me. She gets done and goes to the other side if the tent and takes two guests to seats. Now I'm like what the heck. So I go to the other side of the tent cause clearly I'm on the wrong side. Then she ignores me on that side! So after about 15 minutes, she comes over and she's very pleasant and sees that I have my reservation and takes me to my table. I'm really not sure what the issue was. It was pretty strange. All the service after that was perfectly normal. And like I said, even after she finally was taking me to my table she was super nice and got me a glass of water. So I got a Maine root beer because it's Maine. I got clam chowder because it's Maine. The clam chowder was excellent. Then I got the haddock sandwich, which was so good. The breading was so light that the fish just fell apart when you bit into the sandwich. Just really well cooked. I used to love when things were heavily breaded, but I think I've gone the total opposite nowadays. There was also live music tonight, which was really fun. The outside seating is just so enjoyable on a nice upper 60s night with a little breeze.

Of course the view of Pepperrell Cove is breathtaking, but the real star of the show here is the food. My family is Italian, from New York and hard to please when it comes to food, and they were all raving about every single dish that was served. Donna's assistance leading up to the event in coordinating with vendors and her hands-on presence during event night made the process seamless. We, as long as others, were doing laps around the main lot and the mini lot for the Harbor Hill Inn trying to find a spot. We ended up having to park on the street because there were not enough spots at Harbor Hill. When checking in, we were told there are enough spots for each room, yet the lot for our Inn was completely full. We were also told that if we found a spot, we shouldn't move the car. We wanted to explore the area more, so we did have to leave, it is odd to me that an Inn doesn't have a better parking situation for Inn patrons. We thought it would be fun to go to the pub for apps and a drink before our dinner reservation at the main restaurant. Unfortunately, we were met with an hour long wait for 2 at the pub. I do find it interesting when an Inn doesn't open up reservations or spots for their own guests to dine, rather than locals. When we did go to our dinner reservation, we had a nice time. Our waiter was helpful. When the food came, they brought out a wrong dish. The boy that brought it out told us he wished we said something before he put it on the table because now the dish couldn't be used. We weren't able to tell it wasn't the right dish until it was in front of us.... we then waiting 15 minutes for the right food to come out. Our waiter had them remake my meal as well since it got cold, which was nice. The food was great once we finally had it. They also comped 50% of the wrong dish which was also nice. After dinner we had drinks and headed back to our room to go to bed. A phone call woke us up. It was the front desk; they told us that "Someone came into the lobby furious that our room is being so loud. They said that last night, this morning and this evening we have been ridiculously loud." I told the person on the other line that we have been asleep in bed, and we only checked in this evening. I find it curious that the front desk wouldn't look who was in the room and if we had even been there the day prior. Then, instead of offering an apology, they said "well do you hear any noise?" I said earlier the room next to us was making some noise but nothing like they are describing. They then said, "well which side, right or left?" I said I do not know I need to go back to bed.
